Entransy and entropy revisited显示文摘Entransy, a recently developed concept, is the central physical quantity characterizing heat transfer processes not related to heat-to-work conversions. The entransy of an object pertains to the nature of the potential energy of heat in a thermal field and describes its heat transfer ability. In the present study, we revisit this concept, and develop its relationship to state and process quantities. This then enables a direct comparison to the more familiar concept, entropy, the central physical quantity in thermody- namics. The comparison helps to identify the role entransy has in heat transfer processes and highlight under what conditions state and process quantities related to entransy can be distinguished in such processes. As to embody the entransy loss due to work expended between the system and its environment for the irreversible heat conduction in gases, new quantities, available entransy flow and available system entransy are introduced. Both the entransy of solids and the available system entransy of gases are state quantities and their changes correspond to the entransy flow and the available entransy flow respectively. Thus there is no need to stress the difference between process quantity and state quantity in heat transfer. | HU GuoJie CAO BingYang GUO ZengYuan | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,27: | 13
Modeling permafrost properties in the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau显示文摘Water and heat dynamics in the active layer at a monitoring site in the Tanggula Mountains, located in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau(QXP), were studied using the physical-process-based COUPMODEL model, including the interaction between soil temperature and moisture under freeze-thaw cycles. Meteorological, ground temperature and moisture data from different depths within the active layer were used to calibrate and validate the model. The results indicate that the calibrated model satisfactorily simulates the soil temperatures from the top to the bottom of the soil layers as well as the moisture content of the active layer in permafrost regions. The simulated soil heat flux at depths of 0 to 20 cm was consistent with the monitoring data, and the simulations of the radiation balance components were reasonable. Energy consumed for phase change was estimated from the simulated ice content during the freeze/thaw processes from 2007 to 2008. Using this model, the active layer thickness and the energy consumed for phase change were predicted for future climate warming scenarios. The model predicts an increase of the active layer thickness from the current 330 cm to approximately 350–390 cm as a result of a 1–2°C warming. However, the effect active layer thickness of more precipitation is limited when the precipitation is increased by 20%–50%. The COUPMODEL provides a useful tool for predicting and understanding the fate of permafrost in the QXP under a warming climate. | HU GuoJie ZHAO Lin WU XiaoDong LI Ren WU TongHua XIE ChangWei PANG QiangQiang XIAO Yao LI WangPing QIAO YongPing SHI JianZong | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,12: | 7
A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 4 | Modeling Hydrothermal Transfer Processes in Permafrost Regions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China显示文摘Hydrothermal processes are key components in permafrost dynamics; these processes are integral to global warming. In this study the coupled heat and mass transfer model for(Coup Model) the soil-plant-atmosphere-system is applied in high-altitude permafrost regions and to model hydrothermal transfer processes in freeze-thaw cycles. Measured meteorological forcing and soil and vegetation properties are used in the Coup Model for the period from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2012 at the Tanggula observation site in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. A 24-h time step is used in the model simulation. The results show that the simulated soil temperature and water content, as well as the frozen depth compare well with the measured data. The coefficient of determination(R2) is 0.97 for the mean soil temperature and 0.73 for the mean soil water content, respectively. The simulated soil heat flux at a depth of 0–20 cm is also consistent with the monitored data. An analysis is performed on the simulated hydrothermal transfer processes from the deep soil layer to the upper one during the freezing and thawing period. At the beginning of the freezing period, the water in the deep soil layer moves upward to the freezing front and releases heat during the freezing process. When the soil layer is completely frozen, there are no vertical water exchanges between the soil layers, and the heat exchange process is controlled by the vertical soil temperature gradient. During the thawing period, the downward heat process becomes more active due to increased incoming shortwave radiation at the ground surface. The melt water is quickly dissolved in the soil, and the soil water movement only changes in the shallow soil layer. Subsequently, the model was used to provide an evaluation of the potential response of the active layer to different scenarios of initial water content and climate warming at the Tanggula site. The results reveal that the soil water content and the organic layer provide protection against active layer deepening in summer, so climate warming will cause the permafrost active layer to become deeper and permafrost degradation. | HU Guojie ZHAO Lin LI Ren WU Tonghua WU Xiaodong PANG Qiangqiang XIAO Yao QIAO Yongping SHI Jianzong | 2015 | Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,6: | 4
An analytical model for estimating soil temperature profiles on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China显示文摘Soil temperature is a key variable in the control of underground hydro-thermal processes. To estimate soil temperature more accurately, this study proposed a solution method of the heat conduction equation of soil temperature(improved heat conduction model) by applying boundary conditions that incorporate the annual and diurnal variations of soil surface temperature and the temporal variation of daily temperature amplitude, as well as the temperature difference between two soil layers in the Tanggula observation site of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China. We employed both the improved heat conduction model and the classical heat conduction model to fit soil temperature by using the 5 cm soil layer as the upper boundary for soil depth. The results indicated that the daily soil temperature amplitude can be better described by the sinusoidal function in the improved model, which then yielded more accurate soil temperature simulating effect at the depth of 5 cm. The simulated soil temperature values generated by the improved model and classical heat conduction model were then compared to the observed soil temperature values at different soil depths. Statistical analyses of the root mean square error(RMSE), the normalized standard error(NSEE) and the bias demonstrated that the improved model showed higher accuracy, and the average values of RMSE, bias and NSEE at the soil depth of 10–105 cm were 1.41°C, 1.15°C and 22.40%, respectively. These results indicated that the improved heat conduction model can better estimate soil temperature profiles compared to the traditional model. | HU Guojie ZHAO Lin WU Xiaodong LI Ren WU Tonghua XIE Changwei QIAO Yongping SHI Jianzong CHENG Guodong | 2016 | Journal of Arid Land2016,8,2: | 4
Modes of genetic adaptations underlying functional innovations in the rumen显示文摘The rumen is the hallmark organ of ruminants and hosts a diverse ecosystem of microorganisms that facilitates efficient digestion of plant fibers. We analyzed 897 transcriptomes from three Cetartiodactyla lineages:ruminants, camels and cetaceans,as well as data from ruminant comparative genomics and functional assays to explore the genetic basis of rumen functional innovations. We identified genes with relatively high expression in the rumen,of which many appeared to be recruited from other tissues. These genes show functional enrichment in ketone body metabolism, regulation of microbial community, and epithelium absorption, which are the most prominent biological processes involved in rumen innovations.Several modes of genetic change underlying rumen functional innovations were uncovered, including coding mutations, genes newly evolved, and changes of regulatory elements. We validated that the key ketogenesis rate-limiting gene(HMGCS2)with five ruminant-specific mutations was under positive selection and exhibits higher synthesis activity than those of other mammals. Two newly evolved genes(LYZ1 and DEFB1)are resistant to Gram-positive bacteria and thereby may regulate microbial community equilibrium.Furthermore,we confirmed that the changes of regulatory elements accounted for the majority of rumen gene recruitment. These results greatly improve our understanding of rumen evolution and organ evo-devo in general. | Xiangyu Pan Yudong Cai Zongjun Li Xianqing Chen Rasmus Heller Nini Wang Yu Wang Chen Zhao Yong Wang Han Xu Songhai Li Ming Li Cunyuan Li Shengwei Hu Hui Li Kun Wang Lei Chen Bin Wei Zhuqing Zheng Weiwei Fu Yue Yang Tingting Zhang Zhuoting Hou Yueyang Yan Xiaoyang Lv Wei Sun Xinyu Li Shisheng Huang Lixiang Liu Shengyong Mao Wenqing Liu Jinlian Hua Zhipeng Li Guojie Zhang Yulin Chen Xihong Wang Qiang Qiu Brian PDalrymple Wen Wang Yu Jiang | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,1: | 3
Bridge vibration under complex wind field and corresponding measurements: A review显示文摘Due to increased demands in transportation development, bridge construction has been extended to areas with complex wind fields. In addition to common flow features such as high wind speeds and strong turbulence intensity,in coastal areas, bridges are likely to be exposed to non-stationary and non-Gaussian high-speed wind fields during hurricane events.Bridges built in mountainous regions will experience varying wind directions, incident angles of attack(AOA),and wind speed variation due to undulating terrain. The complex wind fields are challenging to the bridge engineering community to which accurate calculation methods and suppression measures for bridge vibration are urgently required. In this paper,state-of-the-art research results are introduced through three categories:(a)the distinctive characteristics of complex wind fields in offshore and mountainous areas,(b)the categories of wind-induced vibrations for bridges, and(c)the suppression measures employed in engineering practices.Until now,the studies regarding the coupled bridge vibration in complex wind fields have made considerable progress, but a richer database of actual wind measurement results and more efficient simulation methods still need to be further established. | Enbo Yu Guoji Xu Yan Han Peng Hu Jamie F.Townsend Yongle Li | 2022 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2022,9,3: | 2
The Surface Energy Budget and Its Impact on the Freeze-thaw Processes of Active Layer in Permafrost Regions of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The surface energy budget is closely related to freeze-thaw processes and is also a key issue for land surface process research in permafrost regions. In this study,in situ data collected from 2005 to 2015 at the Tanggula site were used to analyze surface energy regimes, the interaction between surface energy budget and freeze-thaw processes. The results confirmed that surface energy flux in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau exhibited obvious seasonal variations.Annual average net radiation(R_(n))for 2010 was 86.5 W m^(-2),with the largest being in July and smallest in November.Surface soil heat flux(G_(0))was positive during warm seasons but negative in cold seasons with annual average value of 2.7 W m^(-2).Variations in R_(n) and G_(0) were closely related to freeze-thaw processes.Sensible heat flux(H)was the main energy budget component during cold seasons, whereas latent heat flux(LE)dominated surface energy distribution in warm seasons.Freeze-thaw processes, snow cover, precipitation, and surface conditions were important influence factors for surface energy flux.Albedo was strongly dependent on soil moisture content and ground surface state, increasing significantly when land surface was covered with deep snow, and exhibited negative correlation with surface soil moisture content.Energy variation was significantly related to active layer thaw depth.Soil heat balance coefficient K was>1 during the investigation time period, indicating the permafrost in the Tanggula area tended to degrade. | Junjie MA Ren LI Hongchao LIU Zhongwei HUANG Tonghua WU Guojie HU Yao XIAO Lin ZHAO Yizhen DU Shuhua YANG | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,1: | 1

Robust Trajectory and Communication Design for Angle-Constrained Multi-UAV Communications in the Presence of Jammers显示文摘This paper studies a multi-unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)enabled wireless communication system, where multiple UAVs are employed to communicate with a group of ground terminals(GTs)in the presence of potential jammers. We aim to maximize the throughput overall GTs by jointly optimizing the UAVs’trajectory, the GTs’scheduling and power allocation.Unlike most prior studies,we consider the UAVs’turning and climbing angle constraints, the UAVs’three-dimensional(3D)trajectory constraints, minimum UAV-to-UAV(U2U)distance constraint, and the GTs’transmit power requirements. However, the formulated problem is a mixed-integer non-convex problem and is intractable to work it out with conventional optimization methods. To tackle this difficulty,we propose an efficient robust iterative algorithm to decompose the original problem be three sub-problems and acquire the suboptimal solution via utilizing the block coordinate descent(BCD)method, successive convex approximation(SCA)technique, and S-procedure.Extensive simulation results show that our proposed robust iterative algorithm offers a substantial gain in the system performance compared with the benchmark algorithms. | Yufang Gao Yang Wu Zhichao Cui Wendong Yang Guojie Hu Shiming Xu | 2022 | China Communications2022,19,2: | 1
Evaluation and spatio-temporal analysis of surface energy flux in permafrost regions over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Arctic using CMIP6 models显示文摘The surface energy budget over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)and the Arctic significantly influences the climate system with global consequences. The performances of 30 selected Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)models were evaluated based on six sites in the QTP and Arctic. The simulation results for latent heat flux(LE)were more accurate in the QTP,where the correlation coefficient and root mean square error(RMSE)were 0.9 and 30 W m−2,respectively.The results for sensible heat flux(H)were more accurate in the Arctic, the correlation coefficient and RMSE were 0.8 and 24 W m−2,respectively.Furthermore,the multiple models mean results revealed that the surface energy flux had seasonal variation and regional differences over the QTP and the Arctic. In the QTP,H was the lowest in winter, increased in spring, and reached the maximum in summer. However, the transitional changes in spring and autumn were not apparent in the Arctic, mainly due to seasonal net radiation difference between the two places.LE was affected by precipitation and surface soil moisture content. This work is important for understanding land-atmosphere interactions and useful for improving the accuracy of land surface models simulations. | Junjie Ma Ren Li Zhongwei Huang Tonghua Wu Xiaodong Wu Lin Zhao Hongchao Liu Guojie Hu Yao Xiao Yizhen Du Shuhua Yang Wenhao Liu Yongliang Jiao Shenning Wang | 2022 | International Journal of Digital Earth2022,15,1: | 0

Patterning Defect Study for Process Integration Engineering Using Pattern Fidelity Monitoring with Review SEM Images显示文摘Normally the optical wafer inspection tools are used for advanced process control in high volume manufacturing of semiconductor devices. The SEM Review is done for limited sample of inspection defects to do defect based process characterization. The defect classes that are monitored normally indicate process and random defect issues. There is limited to no information of patterning related issues in real time defect monitor. Moreover, with the objective of process integration engineering of multiple processes it becomes harder to see the evolution of a defect in the line. The Die-to-Database Pattern Monitor (D2DB-PM) solution has addressed this problem. It uses the existing high resolution images from the Review and Metrology tools and compares the pattern shapes with the design reference. This way it captures patterning deviations in real time. Here we report the subtle defect problem encountered in process integration and the results from using the D2DB-PM solution. We found that this approach reduces the workload on CDSEM tools by analyzing SEM Review images instead and the automated reports improves the efficiency of all process teams. | Yu Zhang Abhishek Vikram Ming Tian Tianpeng Guan Jianghua Leng Baojun Zhao Lei Yan Wei Hu Guojie Chen Hui Wang Gary Zhang Wenkui Liao | 2019 | Journal of Microelectronic Manufacturing2019,2,2: | 0
Proactive Spectrum Monitoring for Suspicious Wireless Powered Communications in Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Networks显示文摘This paper studies the proactive spec-trum monitoring with one half-duplex spectrum moni-tor(SM)to cope with the potential suspicious wireless powered communications(SWPC)in dynamic spec-trum sharing networks. The jamming-assisted spec-trum monitoring scheme via spectrum monitoring data(SMD)transmission is proposed to maximize the sum ergodic monitoring rate at SM.In SWPC,the suspi-cious communications of each data block occupy mul-tiple independent blocks, with a block dedicated to the wireless energy transfer by the energy-constrained suspicious nodes with locations in a same cluster(symmetric scene)or randomly distributed(asymmet-ric scene)and the remaining blocks used for the in-formation transmission from suspicious transmitters(STs)to suspicious destination(SD).For the sym-metric scene, with a given number of blocks for SMD transmission, namely the jamming operation,we first reveal that SM should transmit SMD signal(jam the SD)with tolerable maximum power in the given blocks. The perceived suspicious signal power at SM could be maximized, and thus so does the correspond-ing sum ergodic monitoring rate. Then,we further reveal one fundamental trade-off in deciding the op-timal number of given blocks for SMD transmission. For the asymmetric scene,a low-complexity greedy block selection scheme is proposed to guarantee the optimal performance.Simulation results show that the jamming-assisted spectrum monitoring schemes via SMD transmission achieve much better perfor-mance than conventional passive spectrum monitor-ing,since the proposed schemes can obtain more accu-rate and effective spectrum characteristic parameters, which provide basic support for fine-grained spectrum management and a solution for spectrum security in dynamic spectrum sharing network. | Yu Zhang Guojie Hu Yueming Cai | 2021 | China Communications2021,18,12: | 0
