2Modeling and performance analysis of energy selective electron (ESE) engine with heat leakage and transmission probability显示文摘A model of an energy selective electron (ESE) engine with linear heat leakage and Lorentzian transmission probability is established in this paper.The expressions for the main performance parameters of the ESE engine operating as a heat engine or a refrigerator are derived by using the theory of finite time thermodynamics.The optimum performances of the ESE engine are explored and the influences of the heat leakage,the central energy level of the resonance,and the width of the resonance on the performance of the ESE engine are analyzed by using detailed numerical examples.The optimal operation regions of power output and efficiency (or cooling load and coefficient of performance (COP)) are also discussed.Moreover,the performances of the ESE engine with Lorentzian transmission probability are compared with those with rectangular transmission probability.It is shown that the power output versus efficiency (or cooling load versus COP) characteristic curves with and without heat leakage are all closed loop-shaped ones.The efficiency (or COP) of the ESE engine decreases as the heat leakage increases.It is found that as the resonance width increases,the power output and efficiency (or cooling load and COP) increase to a maximum and then decrease due to the finite range of energies which contribute positively to the power generation or refrigeration in the electron system.Especially,when heat leakage is taken into account,the characteristic curves of maximum efficiency (or maximum COP) versus half resonance width are parabolic-like ones,which are quite different from the monotonic decreasing characteristic curves obtained in previous analyses without considering heat leakage.The results obtained in this paper can provide some theoretical guidelines for the design and operation of practical electron energy conversion devices such as solid-state thermionic refrigerators.DING ZeMin,CHEN LinGen & SUN FengRui College of Naval Architecture and Power,Naval University of Engineering,Wuhan 430033,China Received December 24,2010 accepted May 30,2011 published online September 9,2011 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,11:14
3Generalized constructal optimization for the secondary cooling process of slab continuous casting based on entransy theory显示文摘Based on constructal theory and entransy theory,a generalized constructal optimization of a solidification heat transfer process of slab continuous casting for a specified total water flow rate in the secondary cooling zone was carried out.A complex function was taken as the optimization objective to perform the casting.The complex function was composed of the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient of the slab.The optimal water distribution at the sections of the secondary cooling zone were obtained.The effects of the total water flow rate in the secondary cooling zone,casting speed,superheat and water distribution on the generalized constructal optimizations of the secondary cooling process were analyzed.The results show that on comparing the optimization results obtained based on the optimal water distributions of the 8 sections in the secondary cooling zone with those based on the initial ones,the complex function and the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient after optimization decreased by 43.25%,5.90%and 80.60%,respectively.The quality and energy storage of the slab had obviously improved in this case.The complex function,composed of the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient of the slab,was a compromise between the internal and surface temperature gradients of the slab.Essentially,it is also the compromise between energy storage and quality of the slab.The'generalized constructal optimization'based on the minimum complex function can provide an optimal alternative scheme from the point of view of improving energy storage and quality for the parameter design and dynamic operation of the solidification heat transfer process of slab continuous casting.FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui DING ZeMin SUN FengRui 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,4:14
4Thermodynamic characteristics of a Brownian heat pump in a spatially periodic temperature field显示文摘This paper has studied the thermodynamic performance of a thermal Brownian heat pump,which consists of Brownian particles moving at a periodic sawtooth potential with external forces and contacting with the alternating hot and cold reservoirs along the space coordinate.The heat flows driven by both potential and kinetic energies are taken into account.The analytical expressions for the heating load,coefficient of performance(COP) and power input of the Brownian heat pump are derived and the performance characteristics are obtained by numerical calculations.It is shown that due to the heat flow via the change of kinetic energy of the particles,the Brownian heat pump is always irreversible and the COP can never attain the Carnot COP.The study has also investigated the influences of the operating parameters,i.e.the external force,barrier height of the potential,asymmetry of the sawtooth potential and temperature ratio of the heat reservoirs,on the performance of the Brownian heat pump.The effective regions of external force and barrier height of the potential in which the Brownian motor can operates as a heat pump are determined.The results show that the performance of the Brownian heat pump greatly depends on the parameters;if the parameters are properly chosen,the Brownian heat pump may be controlled to operate in the optimal regimes.DING ZeMin,CHEN LinGen & SUN FengRui Postgraduate School,Naval University of Engineering,Wuhan 430033,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,5:12
5Simultaneous incorporation of PTH(1-34) and nano-hydroxyapatite into Chitosan/Alginate Hydrogels for efficient bone regeneration显示文摘Tissue regeneration based on the utilization of artificial soft materials is considered a promising treatment for bone-related diseases.Here,we report cranial bone regeneration promoted by hydrogels that contain parathyroid hormone(PTH)peptide PTH(1-34)and nano-hydroxyapatite(nHAP).A combination of the positively charged natural polymer chitosan(CS)and negatively charged sodium alginate led to the formation of hydrogels with porous structures,as shown by scanning electron microscopy.Rheological characterizations revealed that the mechanical properties of the hydrogels were almost maintained upon the addition of nHAP and PTH(1-34).In vitro experiments showed that the hydrogel containing nHAP and PTH(1-34)exhibited strong biocompatibility and facilitated osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(rBMSCs)via the Notch signaling pathway,as shown by the upregulated expression of osteogenic-related proteins.We found that increasing the content of PTH(1-34)in the hydrogels resulted in enhanced osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.Implantation of the complex hydrogel into a rat cranial defect model led to efficient bone regeneration compared to the rats treated with the hydrogel alone or with nHAP,indicating the simultaneous therapeutic effect of nHAP and PTH during the treatment process.Both the in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that simultaneously incorporating nHAP and PTH into hydrogels shows promise for bone regeneration,suggesting a new strategy for tissue engineering and regeneration in the future.Zhiyuan Zou Le Wang Zhifei Zhou Qing Sun Delong Liu Yan Chen Hao Hu Yu Cai Sixiong Lin Zhengran Yu Bizhi Tan Wei Guo Zemin Ling Xuenong Zou 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,6:7
6Reconstruction of cell spatial organization from single-cell RNA sequencing data based on ligand-receptor mediated self-assembly显示文摘Single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)has revolutionized transcriptomic studies by providing unprecedented cellular and molecular throughputs,but spatial information of individual cells is lost during tissue dissociation.While imaging-based technologies such as in situ sequencing show great promise,technical difficulties currently limit their wide usage.Here we hypothesize that cellular spatial organization is inherently encoded by cell identity and can be reconstructed,at least in part,by ligand-receptor interactions,and we present CSOmap,a computational tool to infer cellular interaction de novo from scRNA-seq.We show that CSOmap can successfully recapitulate the spatial organization of multiple organs of human and mouse including tumor microenvironments for multiple cancers in pseudo-space,and reveal molecular determinants of cellular interactions.Further,CSOmap readily simulates perturbation of genes or cell types to gain novel biological insights,especially into how immune cells interact in the tumor microenvironment.CSOmap can be a widely applicable tool to interrogate cellular organizations based on scRNA-seq data for various tissues in diverse systems.Xianwen Ren Guojie Zhong Qiming Zhang Lei Zhang Yujie Sun Zemin Zhang 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:5
7Study on the Anti-Liver Fibrosis Effect of Benefit Liver Granule (益肝冲剂) and Its Mechanism in Rats显示文摘Objective:To explore the effect of Benefit Liver Granule (BLG), a traditional Chinese medical preparation, in antagonizing liver fibrosis and its possible mechanism. Methods:Carbon tetrachloride was used to establish the experimental liver fibrosis model of rat. The model rats were randomly divided into 4 groups and BLG, Astragalus (As), Salvia (Sa) and normal saline (for control) respectively were given to them by gastrogavage. Changes of serum alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), transforming growth factor α(TGF α), interleukine 6 (IL 6), liver content of hydroxyproline (Hyp), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malonyldialdehyde (MDA) as well as liver pathology after treatment were observed. A normal control group was also established for control.Results: Pathological examination showed that in the saline group, the structure of normal hepatic lobuli was destroyed with swelled liver cells, focal necrosis, extensive fatty degeneration, and focal inflammatory cell infiltration. Small amounts of proliferated fiber tissue were found in the intra lobular area, peri central vein area, portal area and limiting plate area, and formation of pseudolobuli was also seen. In the 3 treated groups, the serum ALT, AST, TGF α and IL 6 as well as liver content of Hyp, and MDA were lower and SOD were higher than those in the control group significantly, P <0.05 or P <0.01.Conclusion: BLG, As and Sa have the action of anti liver fibrosis, while BLG has the best effect. 8Performance Optimization of Irreversible Air Heat Pumps Considering Size Effect显示文摘Considering the size of an irreversible air heat pump(AHP), heating load density(HLD) is taken as thermodynamic optimization objective by using finite-time thermodynamics. Based on an irreversible AHP with infinite reservoir thermal-capacitance rate model, the expression of HLD of AHP is put forward. The HLD optimization processes are studied analytically and numerically, which consist of two aspects:(1) to choose pressure ratio;(2) to distribute heat-exchanger inventory. Heat reservoir temperatures, heat transfer performance of heat exchangers as well as irreversibility during compression and expansion processes are important factors influencing on the performance of an irreversible AHP, which are characterized with temperature ratio, heat exchanger inventory as well as isentropic efficiencies, respectively. Those impacts of parameters on the maximum HLD are thoroughly studied. 9Ultrathin hexagonal boron nitride as a van der Waals,force initiator activated graphene for engineering efficient non-metal electrocatalysts of Li-CO_(2) battery显示文摘Reasonably regulating electronic coupling to promote charge transfer and exciton separation has been regarded a promising approach in catalysis.The material engineering of van der Waals heterojunction(vdWsH)based on two-dimensional(2D)materials would be a potential way to optimize the as-prepared extrinsic physicochemical characteristics.However,it was still an almost uncultivated land waiting for exploration in catalysis.Herein,we introduced the inert h-boron nitride(h-BN)in non-metal reduced graphene oxide(GN)catalysts and constructed BN-GN vdWsH.The theoretical calculation demonstrated that the h-BN can effectively modify the electronic properties of graphene.With the introduction of h-BN,the BN-GN vdWsH can obviously enhance the catalytic activity of Li-CO_(2) battery.The existence of BN-GN vdWsH can reduce the overpotential more than 700 mV compared with reduced graphene oxide during the CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)and CO_(2) evolution reaction(CO_(2)ER),and it extended cyclic stability more than three times,which was one structure design made it work as a high efficient electrocatalyst,catalytic materials.Zemin Sun Di Wang Liu Lin Yuhui Liu Mengwei Yuan Caiyun Nan Huifeng Li Genban Sun Xiaojing Yang 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:3
10Petrography and chronology of lunar meteorite Northwest Africa 6950显示文摘Northwest Africa(NWA)6950 is an olivine-gabbro lunar meteorite that has a distinctly different petrographic texture from other lunar basalts.In this contribution,we report the petrography,mineralogy,and U-Pb geochronology of baddeleyite and phosphate in this lunar meteorite and make a comparison with other NWA 773 paired meteorites.NWA 6950 consists mainly of coarse-grained olivine,pyroxene,and plagioclase,with minor ilmenite,chromite,troilite,baddeleyite,taenite,and apatite.The abundant rounded to euhedral olivine has a limited Fo ranging from 68 to 69.Pyroxenes include both augite and pigeonite,with a narrow range of Mg#=71–80,and composition,respectively,En46-52Fs12-16Wo32-41 and En58-68Fs19-28Wo7-20.Plagioclase is mainly anhedral,conforming to the crystal margins of olivine and pyroxene.The plagioclase grains are elongated and several hundreds of microns in length.Raman spectra shows that plagioclase has been transformed into maskelynite,which is very calcic(An87-95)with low sodium and very low potassium(Ab4-9Or0.6-3.7).The weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb ages of baddeleyite and phosphate measured using a sensitive high resolution ion micro probe(SHRIMP II)are 3119±16 Ma(n=9,MSWD=2.5)(mean squared weighted deviates,MSWD)and 3119±18 Ma(n=15,MSWD=2.1),respectively,giving the crystallization age of the meteorite.NWA 6950 has similar mineral compositions,geochemical characteristics,and an almost identical age of crystallization to the magnesian gabbro of the NWA 773 clan.We conclude that NWA 6950 and NWA 773 are paired meteorites,which crystallize at ca.3119 Ma,and represent magmatic activities in the KREEP(potassium(K),rare earth elements(REE)and phosphorus(P)rich lunar material)region of the Moon.Zemin BAO Yuruo SHI JLawford ANDERSON Allen KENNEDY Zuokai KE Xiangping GU Peizhi WANG Xiaochao CHE Yuelan KANG Huiyi SUN Chen WANG 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,4:2
11Self-Catalyzed Rechargeable Lithium-Air Battery by in situ Metal Ion Doping of Discharge Products: A Combined Theoretical and Experimental Study显示文摘Lithium-air battery has emerged as a viable electrochemical energy technology;yet a substantial overpotential is typically observed,due to the insulating nature of the discharge product Li_(2)O_(2) that hinders the reaction kinetics and device performance.Furthermore,finite solid–solid/-liquid interfaces are formed between Li_(2)O_(2) and catalysts and limit the activity of the electrocatalysts in battery reactions,leading to inadequate electrolytic efficiency.Herein,in-situ doping of Li_(2)O_(2) by select metal ions is found to significantly enhance the lithium-air battery performance,and Co^(2+)stands out as the most effective dopant among the series.This is ascribed to the unique catalytic activity of the resulting Co-O_(x) sites towards oxygen electrocatalysis,rendering the lithium-air battery self-catalytically active.Theoretical studies based on density functional theory calculations show that structural compression occurs upon Co^(2+)doping,which lowers the energy barrier of Li_(2)O_(2) decomposition.Results from this study highlight the significance of in situ electrochemical doping of the discharge product in enhancing the performance of lithium-air battery.Mengwei Yuan Zemin Sun Han Yang Di Wang Qiming Liu Caiyun Nan Huifeng Li Genban Sun Shaowei Chen 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,1:1

16Linear Acceleration of an Undulatory Robotic Fish with Dynamic Morphing Median Fin under the Instantaneous Self-propelled Condition显示文摘Fish commonly execute rapid linear accelerations initiated during steady swimming,yet the function of the median fins during this process is less understood.We find that the erection/folding time(from the starting time of the linear acceleration(0 s)to the starting time of the folding movement of the fin),as well as the spreading area of the median fins,actively change during the linearacceleration of the live largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides).To better understand the influence of the folding time and the area change of the median fins on the linear acceleration,we implemented an undulatory biomimetic robotic fish with soft median fins that can be programmed to erect and fold,just like a live fish.To characterize the acceleration performance of the robotic fish,we developed a'self-propelled'experiment technique based on the Kalman filter and Proportional-Integral-Derivative(PID)control algorithm.The experiments on the robotic fish show the acceleration induced by fully-erected median fins increases by 46.3%.Fully-erected median fins positively contribute to propulsion primarily at the onset stage of the linear acceleration while result in a significant decrease in steady swimming speed by 25%,which suggests a large drag force is induced at the steady swimming stage due to the enlarged wetted area.Parametric sweeping experiments on erection/folding time and spreading area demonstrate a proper combination of the erection/folding time and the spreading area enhances the mean linear acceleration by up to 85%.Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV)results reveal that the vortexes shed by the erected dorsal fin are stronger than those shed by the folded fin.As the acceleration process progresses,the thrust generated by the dorsal fins gradually is weakened until only resistance is generated in the end.Our findings may shed light on the realization of controllable surfaces on high performance fish-inspired robotic systems in the future.Wenguang Sun Zemin Liu Ziyu Ren Gang Wang Tao Yuan Li Wen 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,2:1
17Toward photocatalytic hydrogen generation over BiVO_(4) by controlling particle size显示文摘Owing to excellent light absorption and high activity fo r oxygen evolution,monoclinic bismuth vanadate(BiVO_(4)) is regarded as an ideal candidate for photocatalytic water splitting.However,its application is limited by the large particle size in micrometer scale,as well as the slightly positive conduction band.In this work,we successfully synthesized nano-BiVO_(4) with particle size ranged from 27 nm to 57 nm by wet chemical method based on electrostatic spinning method.Unlike bulk BiVO_(4),the nano-sized BiVO_(4) possesses the ability to generate hydrogen by water splitting,and the activity could reach up to1.66 μmol h^(-1) g^(-1) with the assistance of Pt.The enhanced activity is mainly attributed to the improvements resulted from reduced particle size,which includes elevated conduction band,enlarged specific surface area and promoted charge separation.This work provides a simple method for synthesizing photocatalyst with small particle size and high yield.Mengdi Sun Zemin Zhang Qiujin Shi Jianlong Yang Mingzheng Xie Weihua Han 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,8:1
