| 1 | Transplantation of UC-MSCs on collagen scaffold activates follicles in dormant ovaries of POF patients with long history of infertility显示文摘Premature ovarian failure(POF) is a refractory disease for clinical treatment with the goal of restoring fertility. In this study,umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells on a collagen scaffold(collagen/UC-MSCs) can activate primordial follicles in vitro via phosphorylation of FOXO3 a and FOXO1. Transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs to the ovaries of POF patients rescued overall ovarian function, evidenced by elevated estradiol concentrations, improved follicular development, and increased number of antral follicles. Successful clinical pregnancy was achieved in women with POF after transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs or UC-MSCs. | 2 | Transplantation of collagen scaffold with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells promotes functional endometrium reconstruction via downregulating ΔNp63 expression in Asherman's syndrome显示文摘Asherman's syndrome(AS) is a common disease that presents endometrial regeneration disorder. However, little is known about its molecular features of this aregenerative endometrium in AS and how to reconstruct the functioning endometrium for the patients with AS. Here, we report that ΔNp63 is significantly upregulated in residual epithelial cells of the impaired endometrium in AS; the upregulated-ΔNp63 induces endometrial quiescence and alteration of stemness. Importantly, we demonstrate that engrafting high density of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMNCs) loaded in collagen scaffold onto the uterine lining of patients with AS downregulates ΔNp63 expression, reverses ΔNp63-induced pathological changes, normalizes the stemness alterations and restores endometrial regeneration. Finally, five patients achieved successful pregnancies and live births. Therefore, we conclude that ΔNp63 is a crucial therapeutic target for AS. | 3 | Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction for treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy:a meta-analysis of 16 randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE:This meta-analysis was performed to systematically assess the efficacy and safety of the Chinese herbal medicine Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction(HGWWD) for treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy.DATA SOURCES:Six electronic databases,including the Cochrane Library,MEDLINE database,Chinese Biomedical Database,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Chinese Science and Technique Journals Database,and the Wanfang Database,were search ed on the internet for randomized controlled trials published up until 1 December 2015.The search terms included 'Chinese herbal medicine','diabetic peripheral neuropathy' and 'randomized controlled trials' in Chinese and in English.DATA SELECTION:We included randomized controlled trials using HGWWD/modified HGWWD for the treatment group,without restriction for the control group.We assessed literature quality in accordance with the Cochrane Review Handbook.A random or a fixed effects model was used to analyze outcomes using Rev Man 5.2 software.OUTCOME MEASURES:The primary outcomes were changes in symptoms and nerve conduction velocities.The secondary outcomeswere fasting blood glucose and hemorheological indexes.RESULTS:Sixteen randomized controlled trials,with a total of 1,173 patients,were included.Meta-analysis revealed that the efficacy of HGWWD for diabetic peripheral neuropathy was significantly superior compared with the control treatment(i.e.,control group)(risk ratio = 0.36,95% confidence interval(CI):0.29–0.46,Z =8.33,P < 0.00001) Compared with the control group,there was an increase in median motor nerve conduction velocity(mean difference(MD) = 3.46,95%CI:1.88–5.04,Z = 4.30,P < 0.01) and median sensory nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.30,95%CI:2.04–4.56,Z = 5.14,P < 0.01).There was also an increase in peroneal motor nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.22,95%CI:2.45–3.98,Z = 8.21,P < 0.01) and peroneal sensory nerve conduction velocity(MD = 3.05,95%CI:2.01–4.09,Z = 5.75,P < 0.01) in the treatment groups.No significant difference in fasting blood glucose was found between the treatment groups and the control groups(MD =-0.12,95%CI:-0.42–0.19,Z = 0.76,P = 0.45).Plasma viscosity was significantly decreased after treatment(MD =-0.11,95%CI:-0.21 to-0.02,Z = 2.30,P = 0.02).No significant difference in fibrinogen was detectable(MD =-0.53,95%CI:-1.28–0.22,Z = 1.38,P = 0.17).Four trials reported that treatment groups experienced no adverse reactions.Adverse events were not mentioned in the other 12 trials.No trial reported the incidence of complications,quality of life outcomes,or health economics.CONCLUSION:HGWWD treatment improves diabetic neurologic symptoms and ameliorates nerve conduction velocities.Our study suggests that HGWWD may have significant therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.However,the methodological quality of the randomized controlled trials was generally low.Larger and better-designed randomized controlled trials are required to more reliably assess the clinical effectiveness of HGWWD. | Bing Pang Tian-yu Zhao Lin-hua Zhao Fang Wan Ru Ye Qiang Zhou Feng Tian Xiao-lin Tong | 2016 | Neural Regeneration Research2016，11，8： | 32 |
| 4 | Collagen-binding basic fibroblast growth factor improves functional remodeling of scarred endometrium in uterine infertile women: a pilot study显示文摘Intrauterine adhesion(IUA) is a common cause of uterine infertility and one of the most severe clinical features is endometrial fibrosis namely endometrial scarring for which there are few cures currently. Blocked angiogenesis is the main pathological change in the scarred endometrium. The fibroblast growth factor 2(b FGF), a member of FGF family, is usually applied to promote healing of refractory ulcer and contributes to angiogenesis of tissues. In this study, the sustained-release system of b FGF100 μg was administrated around scarred endometrium guiding by ultrasound every 4 weeks in 18 patients(2–4 times). Results showed that after treatment, the menstrual blood volume, endometrial thickness and the scarred endometrial area were improved.Histological study showed blood vessel density increased obviously. Three patients(3/18) achieved pregnancy over 20 gestational weeks. | 6 | The Association of Socioeconomic Status with the Burden of Cataract-related Blindness and the Effect of Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure: An Ecological Study显示文摘Objective To assess the association of socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract blindness in terms of year lived with disability(YLD) rates and to determine whether ultraviolet radiation(UVR) levels modify the effect of socioeconomic status on this health burden.Methods National and subnational age-standardized YLD rates associated with cataract-related blindness were derived from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD) study 2017. The human development index(HDI) from the Human Development Report was used as a measure of socioeconomic status.Estimated ground-level UVR exposure was obtained from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI)dataset of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA).Results Across 185 countries, socioeconomic status was inversely associated with the burden of cataract blindness. Countries with a very high HDI had an 84% lower age-standardized YLD rate [95%confidence interval(CI): 60%–93%, P < 0.001] than countries with a low HDI;for high-HDI countries, the proportion was 76%(95% CI: 53%–88%, P < 0.001), and for medium-HDI countries, the proportion was48%(95% CI: 15%–68%, P = 0.010;P for trend < 0.001). The interaction analysis showed that UVR exposure played an interactive role in the association between socioeconomic status and cataract blindness burden(P value for interaction = 0.047).Conclusion Long-term high-UVR exposure amplifies the association of poor socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract-related blindness. | 7 | Efficacy of integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and anti-retroviral therapy on immunological nonresponse in patients with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome: a Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the efficacy of integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and anti-retroviral therapy(ART),a customized combination of different classes of medications which was also called cock-tail treatment,on the immunological nonresponse(INR)in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(PLWH).METHODS:Relevant literature in databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database(CNKI),Wanfang Digital Journal,Chinese Medical Journal Database(CMJD),Chinese Biomedical Literature Database(CBM),Pub Med,Cochrane,and Embase was reviewed by two independent investigators.Data were extracted from the studies according to the eligible criteria and analyzed using Review Manager 5.3.RESULTS:Nine randomized controlled trials(RCTs)with 1078 patients were analyzed.Our analyses showed that CD4 T cell counts in the treatment group improved compared with that in the control group[mean difference(MD)=13.51,95%confidence interval(CI):7.42-19.60,P<0.0001].There was no significant difference between the treated and control groups after 3 months(MD=25.31,95%CI:-2.78 to 53.41,P=0.08).However,after 6 and 12 months,the response of the treatment group was superior to the control group(MD=27.45,95%CI:7.09-47.81,P=0.008 and MD=27.34,95%CI:6.31–48.37,P=0.01,respectively).The clinical efficacy of the treatment group was also higher than that of the control group(RR=1.75,95%CI:1.16-2.65,P=0.007).However,CD45 RO and CD45 RA T cell counts did not differ significantly between the two groups(MD=12.37,95%CI:-6.71 to 31.45,P=0.20 and MD=5.67,95%CI:-3.00 to14.35,P=0.20,respectively).CONCLUSION:The combined treatment strategy of integrated TCM and Western Medicine promotes long-term reconstitution of the immune system and thus,is beneficial and has potential use for improving INR in PLWH.However,large-scale RCTs are required to provide evidence for optimal intervention strategies. | TAO Zhuang HUANG Xiaojie LIU Ying WANG Ru DONG Jipeng LIANG Biyan ZOU Wen GAO Guojian WANG Zhuo ZHANG Ke WU Hao ZHANG Tong WANG Jian | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021，41，5： | 6 |

| 9 | Shumian capsule(舒眠胶囊) improves symptoms of sleep mood disorder in convalescent patients of Corona Virus Disease 2019显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of Shumian capsule(舒眠胶囊)in improving the symptoms of insomnia,anxiety,depression,and other symptoms of convalescent patients of COVID-19.METHODS:Totally 200 patients were collected and randomly divided into experiment group(n=100)and control group(n=100).The control group was treated with Shumian capsule simulator,and the experiment group was treated with Shumian capsule.The improvement of TCM symptom score,the total effective rate and symptom disappearance rate of TCM symptoms in the two groups before and after treatment were observed,and the clinical effect was evaluated.RESULTS:One week after treatment,the scores of anxiety symptoms in the experiment group were significantly different from those in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the scores of insomnia and depression between the experiment group and the control group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the total effective rate and disappearance rate of TCM symptoms of insomnia,anxiety and depression between the experiment group and the control group(P>0.05).After 2 weeks of treatment,the scores of insomnia,anxiety,depression and the total effective rate of TCM symptoms in the experiment group were significantly different from those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the disappearance rate of insomnia,anxiety and depression between the experiment group and the control group(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in heart rate,respiration,systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure between the experiment group and the control group(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:Shumian capsule can significantly improve the symptoms of insomnia,anxiety and depression in COVID-19’s convalescent patients with sleep and mood disorders. | LI Li AN Xuedong ZHANG Qing TAO Junxiu HE Jing CHEN Yun LI Kejian LIU Ru GUO Juan ZHANG Hao TONG Xiaolin BA Yuanming | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021，41，6： | 4 |

| 19 | NA-CPG: A robust and stable rhythm generator for robot motion control显示文摘Central pattern generators(CPGs)have been widely applied in robot motion control for the spontaneous output of coherent periodic rhythms.However,the underlying CPG network exhibits good convergence performance only within a certain range of parameter spaces,and the coupling of oscillators affects the network output accuracy in complex topological relationships.Moreover,CPGs may diverge when parameters change drastically,and the divergence is irreversible,which is catastrophic for the control of robot motion.Therefore,normalized asymmetric CPGs(NA-CPGs)that normalize the amplitude parameters of Hopf-based CPGs and add a constraint function and a frequency regulation mechanism are proposed.NA-CPGs can realize parameter decoupling,precise amplitude output,and stable and rapid convergence,as well as asymmetric output waveforms.Thus,it can effectively cope with large parameter changes to avoid network oscillations and divergence.To optimize the parameters of the NA-CPG model,a reinforcement-learning-based online optimization method is further proposed.Meanwhile,a biomimetic robotic fish is illustrated to realize the whole optimization process.Simulations demonstrated that the designed NA-CPGs exhibit stable,secure,and accurate network outputs,and the proposed optimization method effectively improves the swimming speed and reduces the lateral swing of the multijoint robotic fish by 6.7%and 41.7%,respectively.The proposed approach provides a significant improvement in CPG research and can be widely employed in the field of robot motion control. | Ru Tong Changlin Qiu Zhengxing Wu Jian Wang Min Tan Junzhi Yu | 2022 | Biomimetic Intelligence & Robotics2022，2，4： | 1 |
| 20 | The Association between Exposure to Second-Hand Smoke and Disease in the Chinese Population: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis显示文摘Objective To analyze the association between exposure to second-hand smoke(SHS) and 23 diseases,categorized into four classifications, among the Chinese population.Methods We searched the literature up to June 30, 2021, and eligible studies were identified according to the PECOS format: Participants and Competitors(Chinese population), Exposure(SHS),Outcomes(Disease or Death), and Study design(Case-control or Cohort).Results In total, 53 studies were selected. The odds ratio(OR) for all types of cancer was 1.79(1.56–2.05), and for individual cancers was 1.92(1.42–2.59) for lung cancer, 1.57(1.40–1.76) for breast cancer, 1.52(1.12–2.05) for bladder cancer, and 1.37(1.08–1.73) for liver cancer. The OR for circulatory system diseases was 1.92(1.29–2.85), with a value of 2.29(1.26–4.159) for stroke. The OR of respiratory system diseases was 1.76(1.13–2.74), with a value of 1.82(1.07–3.11) for childhood asthma. The original ORs were also shown for other diseases. Subgroup analyses were performed for lung and breast cancer. The ORs varied according to time period and were significant during exposure in the household;For lung cancer, the OR was significant in women.Conclusion The effect of SHS exposure in China was similar to that in Western countries, but its definition and characterization require further clarification.
