1Leaching of phosphorus from incinerated sewage sludge ash by means of acid extraction followed by adsorption on orange waste gel显示文摘Ashes from sewage sludge incineration have a high phosphorus content, approximately 8% (W/W), which indicates a potential resource of the limiting nutrient. Incineration of sewage sludge with subsequent recovery of phosphorus is a relatively new sludge treatment technique. In this article, the leaching of phosphorus by using sulfuric acid as well as hydrochloric acid by means of several batch experiments was presented. At the same time a selective recovery of phosphorus by adsorption was also discussed. The effects of acid concentration, temperature and time on extraction were studied. The phosphorus leaching increased with the increase in acid concentration and temperature. Kinetic studies showed that the complete leaching of phosphorus took place in less than 4 h. Selective adsorption of phosphorus by using orange waste gel provided a hint for recovery of this natural resource, which eventually could meet the ever-increasing requirement for phosphorus. 2Environmental impact of aquaculture-sedimentation and nutrient loadings from shrimp culture of the southeast coastal region of the Bay of Bengal显示文摘Nutrient loadings were measured for surface seawater and bottom sediments of semi intensive and improved extensive shrimp culture pond, adjacent estuary, and fallow land in the south east coastal region of Bangladesh during August, 2000—January, 2001 to evaluate the impact of shrimp culture. The mean levels of nutrients found in the pond surface water were 108 780 mg/L for CaCO 3, 0 526 mg/L for NH + 4 N, 3 075 wt% for organic carbon, 7 00 mg/L for PO 4 P, 5 57 mg/L for NO 3 N, and 7 33 mg/L for chlorophyll a. The maximum mean value of H 2S(0 232 mg/L) was found in estuarine water. Nutrients loading were found to be decreased with distance from the shrimp farm discharge unit in estuarine water. The mean level of organic matter, total nitrogen, and organic carbon were found in higher concentrations in sediments of cultured pond compared to bottom soil of adjacent fallow land at the same elevation. Extractable Ca values were found in higher concentration(550 33 ppt) in adjacent fallow land, as the shrimps for molting in shrimp ponds use extractable Ca. The relation between seawater H 2S value and sediment pH ( r= -0 94); sediment organic carbon and sediment pH values ( r= -0 76), sediment total nitrogen and sediment pH ( r= - 0 74) were found to be highly negatively correlated. Whereas the relation between seawater H 2S value and sediment total nitrogen ( r= 0 92), water NH + 4 N and sediment pH ( r= 0 66) were found to be positively correlated. 13Assessment of public health research output by Bangladeshi authors:A scientometric study显示文摘The main objective of the study is to assess the growth and expansion of public health(PH)research works by Bangladeshi authors from various perspectives such as quantum of growth,patterns of collaboration, and productivity of authorship, among others. The present research uses a scientometric technique to examine secondary literature. Between 2000 and 2015, 871literature by Bangladeshi writers and 3,71,389 literature by worldwide authors on PH were retrieved from the Scopus database and evaluated using quantitative indicators to study growth and development from various perspectives. The highest growth in terms of the number of publications has been observed in the year 2015(133) and the lowest in 2001(10). The PR(Percent of Growth Rate) shows that 2001 was the deepest decreasing year(-38%) whereas 2002was the most increasing year(90%). During the study, RGR(Relative Growth Rate) values of Bangladeshi contributions to PH literature varied from 0.16 to 0.55, with an average of 0.27. The CC(Collaborative Coefficient) value indicates that during the research period, there was a substantial amount of collaboration among the authors. At the same time, the PPA(Productivity Per Author) value(0.31) denotes that throughout the era, each Bangladeshi author produced less than half of a publication per year. The mean Activity Index(AI) during 2000-2015 was 89.14,which reflects lower activity than the world’s average in PH literature. It was also observed that research productivity in public health of Bangladesh follows Lotka’s inverse rule of author production. 14Effect of magnetic flux advection on the dynamics of shock in accretion flow around a rotating black hole显示文摘We investigate the dynamical behavior of a magnetized,dissipative accretion flow around a rapidly rotating black hole.We solve the magnetohydrodynamic equations and calculate the transonic accretion solutions which may contain discontinuous shock transitions.We investigate the effect ofζ-parameter(parametrizing the radial variation of the toroidal magnetic flux advection rate)on the dynamical behavior of shocks.For a rapidly rotating black hole and for fixed injection parameters at the outer edge,we show that stationary shocks are sustained in the global magnetized accretion solutions for a wide range ofζand accretion rate(˙m).To investigate the observational implications,we consider dissipative shocks and estimate the maximum accessible energy from the post-shock corona(PSC)for nine stellar mass black hole candidates.We compare this with the observed radio jet kinetic power reported in the literature,whenever available.We find close agreement between the estimated values from our model and those reported in the literature.Biplob Sarkar Anjali Rao 2020Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2020,20,3:0
15Total Harmonics Distortion Prediction at the Point of Common Coupling of industrial load with the grid using Artificial Neural Network显示文摘Power quality challenges have generated a lot of disputes between utilities,customers,network operators,and equipment manufacturers around the world as regards the share of responsibility for power quality solutions,this results in different levels of financial and technical losses for both the network operators and the customers.One of the major consequences of the operation of heavy-duty factories globally is the corruption of power quality at the point of common coupling(PCC).In order to quantify the harmonics contribution at the PCC by industrial consumers,this paper presents three-phase total harmonics distortion of current(THDi)prediction model at the PCC.The proposed artificial neural network(ANN)models use a multilayer perceptron neural network(MLPN)to predict three-phase total harmonic distortion.The input parameter used in the models is easily measured with basic power meters.The model was trained with input parameters captured at 33 kV and 132 kV voltage levels using power quality meters at five(5)different steel manufacturing plants.Eight(8)different models were designed,trained,validated,and tested with different combinations of input parameters,number of hidden layers,and number of neurons in the hidden layer.The results show that the model with two hidden layers which uses four major power parameters(Current,apparent power,reactive and active power)as input parameters in the training model had the best performance with a 95.5%coefficient of correlation between the measured THDi and the predicted THDi.Emenike Ugwuagbo Adeola Balogun Biplob Ray Adnan Anwar Chikodili Ugwuishiwu 2023Energy and AI2023,14,4:0
16Effect of Annealing Temperature on the Morphology and Sensitivity of the Zinc Oxide Nanorods-Based Methane Senor显示文摘ZnO nanorods in the form of thin films were synthesized by a facile chemical route and the effect of annealing temperature on the structure and sensitivity of such ZnO-based sensors was studied in detail towards methane sensing.Morphological analyses of such films were carried out by scanning electron microscopy,whereas,the crystalline structure and phase purity of the films were analysed by X-ray diffraction technique.The films were observed to display a gradual change in their morphology from granular to dense nanorods and each of them was used to fabricate methane sensor prototype.They were also tested for temperature-dependent methane-sensing capability with varying methane concentrations.The optimized sensor exhibited highest gas response of *80% at 250 °C with significantly low response and recovery time.Biplob Mondal Lachit Dutta Chirosree Roychaudhury Dambarudhar Mohanta Nillohit Mukherjee Hiranmay Saha 2014Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,4:0
