| 1 | Pancreatic cancer stroma:understanding biology leads to new therapeutic strategies显示文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDA)is among the deadliest cancers in the United States and in the world.Late diagnosis,early metastasis and lack of effective therapy are among the reasons why only 6%of patients diagnosed with PDA survive past 5 years.Despite development of targeted therapy against other cancers,little progression has been made in the treatment of PDA.Therefore,there is an urgent need for the development of new treatments.However,in order to proceed with treatments,the complicated biology of PDA needs to be understood first.Interestingly,majority of the tumor volume is not made of malignant epithelial cells but of stroma.In recent years,it has become evident that there is an important interaction between the stromal compartment and the less prevalent malignant cells,leading to cancer progression.The stroma not only serves as a growth promoting source of signals but it is also a physical barrier to drug delivery.Understanding the tumor-stroma signaling leading to development of desmoplastic reaction and tumor progression can lead to the development of therapies to decrease stromal activity and improve drug delivery.In this review,we focus on how the current understanding of biology of the pancreatic tumor microenvironment can be translated into the development of targeted therapy. | Agnieszka Anna Rucki Lei Zheng | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,9: | 13 |
| 2 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 3 | Comparative transcriptome analyses shed light on carotenoid production and plastid development in melon fruit显示文摘Carotenoids,such asβ-carotene,accumulate in chromoplasts of various fleshy fruits,awarding them with colors,aromas,and nutrients.The Orange(CmOr)gene controlsβ-carotene accumulation in melon fruit by posttranslationally enhancing carotenogenesis and repressingβ-carotene turnover in chromoplasts.Carotenoid isomerase(CRTISO)isomerizes yellow prolycopene into red lycopene,a prerequisite for further metabolism intoβ-carotene.We comparatively analyzed the developing fruit transcriptomes of orange-colored melon and its two isogenic EMS-induced mutants,low-β(Cmor)and yofi(Cmcrtiso).The Cmor mutation in low-βcaused a major transcriptomic change in the mature fruit.In contrast,the Cmcrtiso mutation in yofi significantly changed the transcriptome only in early fruit developmental stages.These findings indicate that melon fruit transcriptome is primarily altered by changes in carotenoid metabolic flux and plastid conversion,but minimally by carotenoid composition in the ripe fruit.Clustering of the differentially expressed genes into functional groups revealed an association between fruit carotenoid metabolic flux with the maintenance of the photosynthetic apparatus in fruit chloroplasts.Moreover,large numbers of thylakoid localized photosynthetic genes were differentially expressed in low-β.CmOR family proteins were found to physically interact with light-harvesting chlorophyll a–b binding proteins,suggesting a new role of CmOR for chloroplast maintenance in melon fruit.This study brings more insights into the cellular and metabolic processes associated with fruit carotenoid accumulation in melon fruit and reveals a new maintenance mechanism of the photosynthetic apparatus for plastid development. | Noam Chayut Hui Yuan Yuval Saar Yi Zheng Tianhu Sun Xuesong Zhou Anna Hermanns Elad Oren Adi Faigenboim Maixia Hui Zhangjun Fei Michael Mazourek Joseph Burger Yaakov Tadmor Li Li | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 3 |

| 6 | Does Foreign Direct Investment Affect S0_(2) Emissions in the Yangtze River Delta?A Spatial Econometric Analysis显示文摘As the major source of air pollution,sulfur dioxide(S0_(2))emissions have become the focus of global attention.However,existing studies rarely consider spatial effects when discussing the relationship between foreign direct investment(FDI)and S0_(2) emissions.This study took the Yangtze River Delta as the research area and used the spatial panel data of 26 cities in this region for 2004-2017.The study investigated the spatial agglomeration effects and dynamics at work in FDI and S0_(2) emissions by using global and local measures of spatial autocorrelation.Then,based on regression analysis using a results of traditional ordinary least squares(OLS)model and a spatial econometric model,the spatial Durbin model(SDM)with spatial-time effects was adopted to quantify the impact of FDI on S0_(2) emissions,so as to avoid the regression results bias caused by ignoring the spatial effects.The results revealed a significant spatial autocorrelation between FDI and S0_(2) emissions,both of which displayed obvious path dependence characteristics in their geographical distribution.A series of agglomeration regions were observed on the spatial scale.The estimation results of the SDM showed that FDI inflow promoted S0_(2) emissions,which supports the pollution haven hypothesis.The findings of this study are significant in the prevention and control of air pollution in the Yangtze River Delta. | GUO Zheng Sophia Shuang CHEN YAO Shimou Anna Charles MKUMBO | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,3: | 1 |

| 19 | Vicinal hydroxyl group-inspired selective oxidation of glycerol to glyceric acid on hydroxyapatite supported Pd catalyst显示文摘Selective oxidation of glycerol provides a feasible route towards the sustainable synthesis of high value-added chemicals.Herein,the hydroxyapatite(HAP)supported palladium(Pd)species were fabricated by impregnation and subsequent calcination.The as-obtained heterogeneous Pd catalyst afforded not only excellent selectivity to glyceric acid(GLA)up to 90%with 59%conversion of glycerol but also good recyclability by using molecular oxygen as an oxidant under mild conditions.The characterization of catalysts indicated that both the surface basicity and Pd sites on the catalyst played a crucial role in promoting glycerol oxidation.Notably,it demonstrated that the presence of the vicinal hydroxyl group of glycerol molecule can assist the oxidation reaction via forming a coordination between the vicinal hydroxyl group and Ca^(2+) sites on HAP-derived catalysts.In this catalytic process,the secondary hydroxyl of glycerol kept untouched and the primary hydroxyl of glycerol was converted into carboxyl group,while the Pd species acted as active centers for cooperatively promoting the subsequent oxidation to generate GLA.Additionally,this catalytic system can be extended widely for the oxidative conversion of other vicinal diols into the corresponding a-hydroxycarboxylic acids selectively.Isotope labeling experiment using H_(2)^(18)O confirmed that H_(2)O not only acted as solvent but also was involved in the catalytic cycles.On the basis of the results,a possible reaction mechanism has been proposed.The HAP-supported Pd catalytic system has been shown to serve as an effective approach for the upgrading of bio-derived vicinal diols to high value-added chemicals. | Difan Li Xiuge Zhao Qingqing Zhou Bingjie Ding Anna Zheng Qingpo Peng Zhenshan Hou | 2022 | Green Energy & Environment2022,7,4: | 1 |
