2Salmonella flagella confer anti-tumor immunological effect via activating Flagellin/TLR5 signalling within tumor microenvironment显示文摘Salmonella:mediated cancer therapy has achieved remarkable anti-tumor effects in experimental animal models,but the detailed mechanism remains unsolved.In this report,the active involvement of the host immune response in this process was confirmed by comparing the tumor-suppressive effects of Salmonella in immunocompetent and immunodeficient mice bearing melanoma allografts.Since flagella are key inducers of the host immune response during bacterial infection,flagella were genetically disrupted to analyse their involvement in Salmonella-mediated cancer therapy.The results showed that flagellum-deficient strains failed to induce significant anti-tumor effects,even when more bacteria were administered to offset the difference in invasion efficiency.Flagella mainly activate immune cells via Flagellin/Toll-like receptor 5(TLR5)signalling pathway.Indeed,we showed that exogenous activation of TLR5 signalling by recombinant Flagellin and exogenous expression of TLR5 both enhanced the therapeutic efficacy of flagellum-deficient Salmonella against melanoma.Our study highlighted the therapeutic value of the interaction between Salmonella and the host immune response through Flagellin/TLR5 signalling pathway during Salmonella-mediated cancer therapy,thereby suggesting the potential application of TLR5 agonists in the cancer immune therapy.Jianxiang Chen Yiting Qiao Guo Chen Cunjie Chang Heng Dong Bo Tang Xiawei Cheng Xiufeng Liu Zichun Hua 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,10:6

5Effects of Exogenous 5-Aminolevulinic Acid and 24-Epibrassinolide on Cd Accumulation in Rice from Cd-Contaminated Soil显示文摘High grain-Cd-accumulating rice variety Yongyou 9 was planted in Cd-contaminated farmland in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, China to study the effects of 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA) and24-epibrassinolide(EBR) on Cd accumulation in brown rice. Results showed that the exogenous ALA and EBR had no significant effects on agronomic traits, soil pH and total Cd content in soil, but had some effects on the available Cd content in soil, and significantly influenced the Cd accumulation in the different parts of rice. Results also showed that 100 mg/L exogenous ALA significantly reduced the Cd accumulation in brown rice to blow the food safety standard(0.2 mg/kg), and also significantly reduced the Cd contents in the roots and culm of rice. However, 200 mg/L exogenous ALA treatment increased the Cd content in brown rice remarkably. In addition, 0.15 mg/L EBR treatment increased Cd accumulation in roots, culm, leaves and brown rice notably, whereas 0.30 mg/L exogenous EBR treatment reduced the Cd accumulation in brown rice properly, but it was not significant. 8A near-infrared porphyrin-based electron acceptor for non-fullerene organic solar cells显示文摘In this work, a new star-shaped electron acceptor based on porphyrin as core, rhodanine and benzothiadiazole as end groups, was developed for non-fullerene solar cells. The molecule shows three distinct absorption regions due to the Soret and Q-bands of the porphyrin and the intramolecular charge transfer in the molecule. This molecule as electron acceptor was applied into non-fullerene solar cells by using a diketopyrrolopyrrole-based conjugated polymer as electron donor. An initial PCE of 1.9% was achieved with a broad photo-response from 300-850 nm. 10Simulation and experimental verification of off-axis fiber Bragg grating bending sensor with high refractive index modulation显示文摘Off-axis FBG simulations were performed in this paper using a finite element method in conjunction with the conformal mapping technique to study the bending sensing characteristics of the off-axis FBG with high index modulation.The refractive index(RI)increase of the grating region is taken into consideration for the mode field simulation.The influences of high RI increase and the offset distance of the grating on the bending sensitivity were analyzed.Off-axis FBGs with different offset distances were fabricated using femtosecond laser with phase mask technique in standard single-mode fiber.The simulation results were verified by the experiment.A bending sensitivity of 0.055 d B/m^(-1) was achieved with an offset distance of 4μm.The simulation and experiment results suggest that the grating offset distance has a greater influence on the sensitivity of the off-axis FBG with high RI modulation than that with low RI modulation.The proposed sensor structure and simulation results can provide suggestion for the design and processing of off-axis FBG bending sensors.CUI Wei ZHOU Yanfang YAN Zhonghua GUO Junqi YUE Yiting CHEN Hao 2022Optoelectronics Letters2022,18,4:1

12HITAC-seq enables high-throughput cost-effective sequencing of plasmids and DNA fragments with identity显示文摘DNA sequencing is vital for many aspects of biological research and diagnostics. Despite the development of second and third generation sequencing technologies, Sanger sequencing has long been the only choice when required to precisely track each sequenced plasmids or DNA fragments. Here, we report a complete set of novel barcoding and assembling system, Highly-parallel Indexed Tagmentation-reads Assembled Consensus sequencing(HITAC-seq), that could massively sequence and track the identities of each individual sequencing sample. With the cost of much less than that of single read of Sanger sequencing,HITAC-seq can generate high-quality contiguous sequences of up to 10 kilobases or longer. The capability of HITAC-seq was confirmed through large-scale sequencing of thousands of plasmid clones and hundreds of amplicon fragments using approximately 100 pg of input DNAs. Due to its long synthetic length, HITACseq was effective in detecting relatively large structural variations, as demonstrated by the identification of a~1.3 kb Copia retrotransposon insertion in the upstream of a likely maize domestication gene. 13Design and numerical simulation of SPF-PCF-SPF fluid sensing system based on photoelectric oscillator显示文摘In this paper,an optical fiber fluid sensing system based on optoelectronic oscillator(OEO)was proposed and studied numerically.The fluid sensor head is constructed by splicing two sections of side-polished fiber(SPF)to one section of photonic crystal fiber(PCF).Fluid sample can flow continuously through the holes of PCF.The refractive index(RI)change of the fluid sample can lead to the effective RI change of the fiber,resulting in frequency change of microwave signal generated by OEO.By monitoring the oscillation frequency using an electronic spectrum analyzer(ESA),the RI of fluid sample can be measured.Thanks to the fast interrogation speed of ESAs,the measuring speed can be increased significantly compared to traditional optical fiber RI sensing systems using optical spectrometers.The sensing principle of the system was studied.The sensitivity of the proposed system was evaluated by simulation,and an RI sensitivity of-14.20 MHz/RIU can be achieved.The results show that with proper system design,real-time RI measurement with high sensitivity can be achieved.Increasing the length of the PCF while under the premise of the fluid parameters will be the most reasonable way to improve the sensitivity.The proposed design and simulation results can provide suggestions for the fabrication and optimization of fluid sensing systems used for real-time detection and measurement of biological elements and heavy metal ions in liquid environment.GUO Junqi YUE Yiting CUI Wei ZOU Xinhai YANG Haoyu YANG Junkai 2022Optoelectronics Letters2022,18,6:0
14Effect of wetland plant fermentation broth on nitrogen removal and bioenergy generation in constructed wetland-microbial fuel cells显示文摘Constructed wetlands(CWs)are widely used as a tertiary treatment technology,and the addition of carbon sources can significantly improve advanced nitrogen removal.However,excessive carbon sources would lead to an increase in the effluent chemical oxygen demand in CWs,and microbial fuel cells(MFCs)can convert these into electricity.In this study,constructed wetland-microbial fuel cells(CW-MFCs)were built to achieve simultaneous nitrogen removal and electricity generation,using wetland plant litter fermentation broths as carbon sources.The total nitrogen removal in the groups with fermentation broth addition(FGs)reached 83.33%,which was 19.64%higher than that in the CG(group without fermentation broth),and the mean voltages in the FGs were at least 2.6 times higher than that of the CG.Furthermore,two main components of the fermentation broths,acetic acid(Ac)and humic acid(HA),were identified using a three-dimensional excitation emission matrix and gas chromatograph and added to CW-MFCs to explore the influence mechanism on the treatment performance.Denitrification and electrogenesis presented the same tendency:Ac&HA>Ac>CG’(groups without Ac and HA).These results indicate that Ac and HA increased the abundance of functional genes associated with nitrogen metabolism and electron transfer.This study demonstrated that CW-MFC fermentation broth addition can be a potential strategy for the disposal of secondary effluent and bioelectricity generation.Yiting Chen Jun Yan Mengli Chen Fucheng Guo Tao Liu Yi Chen 2022Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,12:0
15High-resolution spatio-temporal analysis of snowmelt over Antarctic Peninsula ice shelves from 2015 to 2021 using SAR images显示文摘Ice shelves play an essential role in the dynamics of the Antarctic ice sheet.The surface meltwater is important,as it can irreversibly weaken ice shelves by exerting additional hydrostatic pressure.Therefore,high-resolution snowmelt products are urgently needed to accurately analyze melting patterns of ice shelves and further estimate mass loss.In this study,a new high-resolution(40 m)snowmelt dataset over all of the Antarctic Peninsula ice shelves larger than 100 km^(2) was developed based on the modified snowmelt detection framework by using a co-orbit normalization method.The dataset provides detailed snowmelt information on each ice shelf,including the image coverage,melting area and melting ratio every 5 days.The melting patterns of three typical ice shelves(George VI,Wilkins and Larsen C Ice Shelves)and the spatio-temporal melting distribution of the Antarctic Peninsula(AP)were further analyzed.The snowmelt information indicates that both the extent and duration of snowmelt have been increasing in the Antarctic Peninsula from 2015 to 2021,and we found that the snowmelt on the Antarctic Peninsula showed a spatial pattern of significantly intense snowmelt on the western side.We believe this study will provide essential data for ice shelf investigation to support otherfields of polar research.Qi Zhu Huadong Guo Lu Zhang Dong Liang Xuting Liu Heng Zhou Yiting Gou 2023International Journal of Digital Earth2023,16,1:0
16Assembly of Two Isostructural Metal-organic Frameworks Based on Hetero-N,O Donor Ligand for Detecting Nitro Explosives显示文摘Two isostructural metal-organic frameworks,[NO3][M3(H2O)3O(TBA)3]-2DMF-6H2O(1 and 2)[M=In and Fe, H2TBA=4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-benzoic acid], have been successfully synthesized. Compounds 1 and 2 have three-dimensional structures bridged via the typical 6-connected tri-nuclear cluster units M3O(COO)6 and linear linker H2TBA. The whole 3D framework possesses a 6-connected acs topology. Notably, by the fluorescence technique, compound 1 can detect nitro explosives through fluorescence quenching effect, especially for 2,4,6-trinitrophenol(TNP, Ksv=3.64×10^4 L/mol). Furthermore, the fluorescence spectrum red shifts as the number of NO2 group increases.
