Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Therefore the observation of Insight-HXMT constitutes an important chapter in the full context of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observation of this historical GW event. | TiPei Li ShaoLin Xiong ShuangNan Zhang FangJun Lu LiMing Song XueLei Cao Zhi Chang Gang Chen Li Chen TianXiang Chen Yong Chen YiBao Chen YuPeng Chen Wei Cui WeiWei Cui JingKang Deng YongWei Dong YuanYuan Du MinXue Fu GuanHua Gao He Gao Min Gao MingYu Ge YuDong Gu Ju Guan ChengCheng Guo DaWei Han Wei Hu Yue Huang Jia Huo ShuMei Jia LuHua Jiang WeiChun Jiang Jing Jin YongJie Jin Bing Li ChengKui Li Gang Li MaoShun Li Wei Li Xian Li XiaoBo Li XuFang Li YanGuo Li ZiJian Li ZhengWei Li XiaoHua Liang JinYuan Liao CongZhan Liu GuoQing Liu HongWei Liu ShaoZhen Liu XiaoJing Liu Yuan Liu YiNong Liu Bo Lu XueFeng Lu Tao Luo Xiang Ma Bin Meng Yi Nang JianYin Nie Ge OU JinLu Qu Na Sai Liang Sun Yin Tan Lian Tao WenHui Tao YouLi Tuo GuoFeng Wang HuanYu Wang Juan Wang WenShuai Wang YuSa Wang XiangYang Wen BoBing WU Mei Wu GuangCheng Xiao He Xu YuPeng Xu LinLi Yan JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang AiMei Zhang ChunLei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang HongMei Zhang Juan Zhang Qiang Zhang Shu Zhang Tong Zhang Wei Zhang WanChang Zhang WenZhao Zhang Yi Zhang Yue Zhang YiFei Zhang YongJie Zhang Zhao Zhang ZiLiang Zhang HaiSheng Zhao JianLing Zhao XiaoFan Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yue Zhu YuXuan Zhu ChangLin Zou | 2018 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,3: | 12

Simultaneous Determination of Plant Growth Regulators in Fruits Using a Modified Qu ECh ERS Procedure and UPLC–MS/MS显示文摘Six plant growth regulators frequently used in fruit were detected using UPLC–MS/MS including chlormequat chloride, GA3, forchlorfenuron, paclobutrazol, thidiazuron and 2,4-D. A modified Qu ECh ERS method was used in pretreatment: each compound was extracted with acetonitrile containing 1% acetic acid and cleaned with a mixture of ostade-cylsilane(ODS) and Mg SO_4. The detection was performed using electrospray ionization(ESI) and multiple reaction monitoring mode(MRM) and quantified using the external standard method. Results indicated that the calibration curves of six plant growth regulators were linear within the range of 1–100 μg·kg^(-1) with correlation coefficients over 0.999. The recovery at four spiked concentrations, 1, 20, 50, and 100 μg·kg^(-1), ranged from 60.77% to 119.43% and relative standard deviation(RSD) were between 0.18% and 32.94%. The limits of detection(LOD) and limits of quantitation(LOQ) were 0.01–0.14 μg·kg^(-1) and 0.02–0.46 μg·kg^(-1), respectively, for apples, 0.01–0.18 μg·kg^(-1) and 0.03–0.59 μg·kg^(-1) for grapes, 0.01–0.08 μg·kg^(-1) and 0.04–0.28 μg·kg^(-1) for kiwis, 0.003–0.110 μg·kg^(-1) and 0.01–0.38 μg·kg^(-1) for peaches, and 0.01–0.08 μg·kg^(-1) and 0.03–0.25 μg·kg^(-1) for oranges. | YAN Zhen NIE Jiyun XU Guofeng LI Haifei LI Jing LI Zhixia WU Yonglong KUANG Lixue | 2016 | Horticultural Plant Journal2016,2,4: | 8
1876-1878 severe drought in North China:Facts, impacts and climatic background显示文摘Based on the reconstructed precipitation series in North China from historical documents, the 1876-1878 drought was identified as the most severe and extreme one in North China over the past 300 years. Meanwhile, the spatial patterns of seasonal and annual precipitation during 1876-1877 were analyzed and the social and economic impacts related with this drought event were evaluated according to the descriptions in the historical documents. The results indicated that this long-lasting drought started by the spring of 1876 and did not stop until the spring of 1878. Within the three years, the harvest failures brought the rice price increased to 5-10 times than that in the normal year, and the total population in the five provinces over North China decreased by more than 20 million due to a large number of dead people and migrations. In addition, related investigations suggested that the 1876-1878 drought was prevalent worldwide, which has possible link with abnormal high SST in the equatorial central and eastern Pacific, strong El Nio episode and positive AAO anomalies. | HAO ZhiXin ZHENG JingYun WU GuoFeng ZHANG XueZhen GE QuanSheng | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,26: | 8
Feasibility of Estimating Heavy Metal Contaminations in Floodplain Soils Using Laboratory-Based Hyperspectral Data—A Case Study Along Le’an River, China显示文摘It is necessary to estimate heavy metal concentrations within soils for understanding heavy metal contaminations and for keeping the sustainable developments of ecosystems. This study, with the floodplain along Le'an River and its two branches in Jiangxi Province of China as a case study, aimed to explore the feasibility of estimating concentrations of heavy metal lead(Pb),copper(Cu) and zinc(Zn) within soils using laboratory-based hyperspectral data.Thirty soil samples were collected, and their hyperspectral data, soil organic matters and Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations were measured in the laboratory. The potential relations among hyperspectral data, soil organic matter and Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations were explored and further used to estimate Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations from hyperspectral data with soil organic matter as a bridge. The results showed that the ratio of the first-order derivatives of spectral absorbance at wavelengths 624 and 564 nm could explain 52% of the variation of soil organic matter;the soil organic matter could ex-plain 59%,51% and 50% of the variation of Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations with estimated standard errors of 1.41,48.27 and 45.15 mg·kg-1;and the absolute estimation errors were 8%-56%,12%-118% and 2%-22%,and 50%,67% and 100% of them were less than 25% for Pb,Cu and Zn concentration estimations. We concluded that the laboratory-based hyperspectral data hold potentials in esti-mating concentrations of heavy metal Pb,Cu and Zn in soils.More sampling points or other potential linear and non-linear regression methods should be used for improving the stabilities and accuracies of the estimation models. | LIU Yaolin LI Wei WU Guofeng XU Xinguo | 2011 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2011,14,1: | 7
Influence of fuel moisture, charge size, feeding rate and air ventilation conditions on the emissions of PM, OC, EC, parent PAHs, and their derivatives from residential wood combustion显示文摘Controlled combustion experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of fuel charge size, moisture, air ventilation and feeding rate on the emission factors (EFs) of carbonaceous particulate matter, parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (pPAHs) and their derivatives from residential wood combustion in a typical brick cooking stove. Measured EFs were found to be independent of fuel charge size, but increased with increasing fuel moisture. Pollution emissions from the normal burning under an adequate air supply condition were the lowest for most pollutants, while more pollutants were emitted when an oxygen deficient atmosphere was formed in the stove chamber during fast burning. The impacts of these factors on the size distribution of emitted particles was also studied. Modified combustion efficiency and the four investigated factors explained 68%, 72%, and 64% of total variations in EFs of PM, organic carbon, and oxygenated PAHs, respectively, but only 36%, 38% and 42% of the total variations in EFs of elemental carbon, pPAHs and nitro-PAHs, respectively. | Guofeng Shen Miao Xue Siye Wei Yuanchen Chen Qiuyue Zhao Bing Li Haisuo Wu Shu Tao | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,9: | 6
The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. As there were obvious heterogeneity in autoantibodies and clinical manifestation in different phenotypes of the disease, we should take more factors into consideration when identifying type 1 diabetes mellitus. | Jin Liu Lingling Bian Li Ji Yang Chen Heng Chen Yong Gu Bingqin Ma Wei Gu Xinyu Xu Yun Shi Jian Wang Dalong Zhu Zilin Sun Jianhua Ma Hui Jin Xing Shi Heng Miao Bing Xin Yan Zhu Zhenwen Zhang Ruifang Bu Lan Xu Guangde Shi Wei Tang Wei Li Dongmei Zhou Jun Liang Xingbo Cheng Bimin Shi Jixiang Dong Ji Hu Chen Fang Shao Zhong Weinan Yu Weiping Lu Chenguang Wu Li Qian Jiancheng Yu Jialin Gao Xiaoqiang Fei Qingqing Zhang Xueqin Wang Shiwei Cui Jinluo Cheng Ning Xu Guofeng Wang Guoqing Han Chunrong Xu Yun Xie Minmin An Wei Zhang Zhixiao Wang Yun Cai Qi Fu Yu Fu Shuai Zheng Fan Yang Qingfang Hu Hao Dai Yu Jin Zheng Zhang Kuanfeng Xu Yifan Li Jie Shen Hongwen Zhou Wei He Xuqin Zheng Xiao Han Liping Yu Jinxiong She Mei Zhang Tao Yang | 2016 | Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,9: | 5
Emissions of parent, nitrated, and oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from indoor corn straw burning in normal and controlled combustion conditions显示文摘Emission factors(EFs) of parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(pPAHs), nitrated PAHs(nPAHs), and oxygenated PAHs(oPAHs)were measured for indoor corn straw burned in a brick cooking stove under diferent burning conditions. The EFs of total 28 pPAHs,6 nPAHs and 4 oPAHs were(7.9 ± 3.4),(6.5 ± 1.6)×10 3, and(6.1 ± 1.4)×10 1mg/kg, respectively. Fuel charge size had insignificant influence on the pollutant emissions. Measured EFs increased significantly in a fast burning due to the oxygen deficient atmosphere formed in the stove chamber. In both restricted and enhanced air supply conditions, the EFs of pPAHs, nPAHs and oPAHs were significantly higher than those measured in normal burning conditions. Though EFs varied among diferent burning conditions, the composition profiles and calculated isomer ratios were similar, without significant diferences. The results from the stepwise regression model showed that fuel burning rate, air supply amount, and modified combustion efciency were the three most significant influencing factors, explaining 72%–85% of the total variations. | Guofeng Shen Miao Xue Siye Wei Yuanchen Chen Bin Wang Rong Wang Yan Lv Huizhong Shen Wei Li Yanyan Zhang Ye Huang Han Chen Wen Wei Qiuyue Zhao Bing Li Haisuo Wu Shu Tao | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,10: | 5

Mesoporous Ag nanocubes synthesized via selectively oxidative etching at room temperature for surface- enhanced Raman spectroscopy显示文摘Silver nanocubes enriched with {100} facets have been extensively used for surface-enhanced Raman scattering. Herein, we report a new water-phase synthesis method for weU-defined Ag nanocubes with tunable sizes via a two-step procedure at room temperature. First, irregularly shaped Ag nanoparticles (INPs) were prepared by reducing silver ammonia solution using ethylal. Second, the agglomerated INPs were selectively etched with HNO3 and C1- to yield {100} facet-rich mesoporous Ag nanocubes. The mechanism of Ag-nanocube formation and growth was investigated in detail by elucidating the involved chemical reactions and physical changes at each step during the synthesis. The addition of C1- anions was responsible for facilitating Ag nanoparticle growth by removing surface-adsorbed Ag+ species, thereby eliminating inter-particle repulsive forces. This agglomeration was found crucial for the subsequent selective oxidation of Ag nanoparticles because the protective agent used, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), was the most effective one for adsorption on the surfaces of Ag nanoparticles of size greater than approximately 50 nm. Importantly mesopores were found inside the Ag nanocubes; this can be attributed to the unavoidable imperfect packing during the agglomeration of INPs. The newly prepared Ag nanocubes were further used to enhance the Raman signal of rhodamine 6G, which is capable of reducing the detection limitation to 10-16 mol·L-1. | Lin Gan Meijia Yang Xi Ke Guofeng Cui Xudong Chen Shiva Gupta William Kellogg Drew Higgins Gang Wu | 2015 | Nano Research2015,8,7: | 4
Air pollution and inhalation exposure to particulate matter of different sizes in rural households using improved stoves in central China显示文摘Household air pollution is considered to be among the top environmental risks in China. To examine the performance of improved stoves for reduction of indoor particulate matter(PM) emission and exposure in rural households, individual inhalation exposure to size-resolved PM was investigated using personal portable samplers carried by residents using wood gasifier stoves or improved coal stoves in a rural county in Central China.Concentrations of PM with different sizes in stationary indoor and outdoor air were also monitored at paired sites. The stationary concentrations of size-resolved PM in indoor air were greater than those in outdoor air, especially finer particles PM0.25. The daily averaged exposure concentrations of PM0.25, PM1.0, PM2.5 and total suspended particle for all the surveyed residents were 74.4 ± 41.1, 159.3 ± 74.3, 176.7 ± 78.1 and 217.9 ± 78.1 μg/m3,respectively. Even using the improved stoves, the individual exposure to indoor PM far exceeded the air quality guideline by WHO at 25 μg/m3. Submicron particles PM1.0 were the dominant PM fraction for personal exposure and indoor and outdoor air. Personal exposure exhibited a closer correlation with indoor PM concentrations than that for outdoor concentrations. Both inhalation exposure and indoor air PM concentrations in the rural households with gasifier firewood stoves were evidently lower than the reported results using traditional firewood stoves. However, local governments in the studied rural areas should exercise caution when widely and hastily promoting gasifier firewood stoves in place of improved coal stoves, due to the higher PM levels in indoor and outdoor air and personal inhaled exposure. | Weijian Liu Guofeng Shen Yuanchen Chen Huizhong Shen Ye Huang Tongchao Li Yilong Wang Xiaofang Fu Shu Tao Wenxin Liu Yibo Huang-Fu Weihao Zhang Chunyu Xue Guangqing Liu Fuyong Wu Minghung Wong | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,1: | 4
Rapid Urbanization Induced Extensive Forest Loss to Urban Land in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China显示文摘China has experienced rapid urbanizations with dramatic land cover changes since 1978. Forest loss is one of land cover changes, and it induces various eco-environmental degradation issues. As one of China’s hotspot regions, the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area(GBA) has undergone a dramatic urban expansion. To better understand forest dynamics and protect forest ecosystem, revealing the processes, patterns and underlying drivers of forest loss is essential. This study focused on the spatiotemporal evolution and potential driving factors of forest loss in the GBA at regional and city level. The Landsat time-series images from 1987 to2017 were used to derive forest, and landscape metrics and geographic information system(GIS) were applied to implement further spatial analysis. The results showed that: 1) 14.86% of the total urban growth area of the GBA was obtained from the forest loss in1987–2017;meanwhile, the forest loss area of the GBA reached 4040.6 km2, of which 25.60%(1034.42 km2) was converted to urban land;2) the percentages of forest loss to urban land in Dongguan(19.14%), Guangzhou(18.35%) and Shenzhen(15.81%) were higher than those in other cities;3) the forest became increasingly fragmented from 1987–2007, and then the fragmentation decreased from2007 to 2017);4) the landscape responses to forest changes varied with the scale;and 5) some forest loss to urban regions moved from low-elevation and gentle-slope terrains to higher-elevation and steep-slope terrains over time, especially in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.Urbanization and industrialization greatly drove forest loss and fragmentation, and, notably, hillside urban land expansion may have contributed to hillside forest loss. The findings will help policy makers in maintaining the stability of forest ecosystems, and provide some new insights into forest management and conservation. | YANG Chao LIU Huizeng LI Qingquan CUI Aihong XIA Rongling SHI Tiezhu ZHANG Jie GAO Wenxiu ZHOU Xiang WU Guofeng | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,1: | 3
One step method of structure engineering porous graphitic carbon nitride for efficient visible-light photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ)显示文摘Porous g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets(PCN)were prepared by the nickel-assisted one-step thermal polymerization method.Hydrogen(H2)which was produced by the reaction between nickel(Ni)foam and ammonia(NH3)defined the structure and properties of PCN.During the formation of PCN,the participation of H2 not only enhanced the spacing between layers but also boosted the specific surface area that more active sites were exposed.Additionally,H2 promoted pores formation in the nanosheets, which was beneficial to the transfer of photons through lamellar structure and improved the absorption efficiency of visible light.Remarkably, the obtained PCN possessed better Cr(Ⅵ)photocatalytic reduction efficiency than pure g-C_(3)N_(4).The reaction rate constant(k)of PCN(0.013 min-1)was approximately twice that of bare g-C_(3)N_(4)(0.007 min-1).Furthermore,the effects of original pH and concentration of Cr(Ⅵ)-containing solution on re moval efficiency of Cr(Ⅵ)were explored.A possible photocatalytic mecha nism was proposed based on the experiments of radical scavengers and photoelectrochemical characterizations. | Xueru Chen Yin Zhang Dashui Yuan Wu Huang Jing Ding Hui Wan Wei-Lin Dai Guofeng Guan | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,12: | 3
Influence of fuel mass load, oxygen supply and burning rate on emission factor and size distribution of carbonaceous particulate matter from indoor corn straw burning显示文摘The uncertainty in emission estimation is strongly associated with the variation in emission factor (EF),which could be influenced by a variety of factors such as fuel properties, stove type, fire management and even methods used in measurements. The impacts of these factors are complicated and often interact with each other.Controlled burning experiments were conducted to investigate the influences of fuel mass load, air supply and burning rate on the emissions and size distributions of carbonaceous particulate matter (PM) from indoor corn straw burning in a cooking stove. The results showed that the EFs of PM (EFPM),organic carbon (EFOC) and elemental carbon (EFEC) were independent of the fuel mass load. The differences among them under different burning rates or air supply amounts were also found to be insignificant (p > 0.05) in the tested circumstances.PM from the indoor corn straw burning was dominated by fine PM with diameter less than 2.1 μm,contributing 86.4%±3.9% of the total. The size distribution of PM was influenced by the burning rate and air supply conditions. On average,EF PM,EF OC and EF EC for corn straw burned in a residential cooking stove were (3.84±1.02),(0.846±0.895) and (0.391±0.350) g/kg,respectively.EF PM,EF OC and EF EC were found to be positively correlated with each other (p < 0.05),but they were not significantly correlated with the EF of co-emitted CO,suggesting that special attention should be paid to the use of CO as a surrogate for other incomplete combustion pollutants. | Guofeng Shen Miao Xue Siye Wei Yuanchen Chen Bin Wang Rong Wang Huizhong Shen Wei Li Yanyan Zhang Ye Huang Han Chen Wen Wei Qiuyue Zhao Bin Li Haisuo Wu Shu Tao | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 3
Li2FeSiO4/C hollow nanospheres as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Undoubtedly, it is imperative to figure out two stubborn issues concerning low electronic conductivity and sluggish lithium ion diffusion to promote the practical application of Li2FeSiO4 materials in lithium-ion battery (LIB) cathode. Herein, we report an innovative and simple strategy that combines a hydrothermal process with subsequent annealing to synthesize highly uniform Li2FeSiO/C hollow nanospheres. During the hydrothermal process, polystyrenen anospheres are employed not only as the template but also, more tactfully, as carb on source to form amorphous carbon layers, which will function to enhance the electronic conductivity and restrict particle aggregations. The use of the LIB Li2FeSiO4/C hollow nano spheres as a LIB cathode delivers a desired stable capacity at each rate stage, and eve n at a high rate of 10 C, the hollow nano sphere cathode can prese nt a specific discharge capacity as high as 50.5 mAh·g^-1. After 100 cycles, the capacity rete ntions at 1 and 10 C remain as high as 93% and 72%, respectively. | 19 | A New Indicator for Global Food Security Assessment: Harvested Area Rather Than Cropland Area显示文摘Cropland area has long been used as a key indicator of food security. However, grain yield is not solely controlled by the area of the cropland. Therefore,we proposed a new indicator to assess food security. Results show that from 1992 to 2004,the global cropland area increased by 840200 km^(2)(99.4%),but the grain yield increased only by 310 million t(29.1%);and from 2004 to 2015,the cropland area decreased by 39000 km^(2)(4.64%),but the grain yield increased by 370 million t(70.84%).This result showed that grain yield was not linearly correlated with cropland area, and delimiting the threshold of cropland protection may not guarantee food security.Combined with further correlation analysis,we found that the increase in the global grain yield was more closely related to the harvested area(R^(2)=0.94),which indicated that the harvested area is a more scientific and accurate indicator than cropland area in terms of guaranteeing food security. Therefore,if governments want to ensure the food security, they should choose a new and more accurate indicator:harvested area rather than cropland area. | SONG Fengjiao WANG Shijie BAI Xiaoyong WU Luhua WANG Jinfeng LI Chaojun CHEN Huan LUO Xuling XI Huipeng ZHANG Sirui LUO Guofeng YAN Mengqi ZHEN Qingqing | 2022 | Chinese Geographical Science2022,32,2: | 2
Hydrogen-assisted scalable preparation of ultrathin Pt shells onto surfactant-free and uniform Pd nanoparticles for highly efficient oxygen reduction reaction in practical fuel cells显示文摘Concentrating active Pt atoms in the outer layers of electrocatalysts is a very effective approach to greatly reduce the Pt loading without compromising the electrocatalytic performance and the total electrochemically active surface area(ECSA)for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in hydrogen-based proton-exchange membrane fuel cells.Accordingly,a facile,low-cost,and hydrogen-assisted two-step method is developed in this work,to massively prepare carbon-supported uniform,small-sized,and surfactant-free Pd nanoparticles(NPs)with ultrathin~3-atomic-layer Pt shells(Pd@Pt_(3L) NPs/C).Comprehensive physicochemical characterizations, electrochemical analyses, fuel cell tests, and density functional theory calculations reveal that, benefiting from the ultrathin Pt-shell nanostructure as well as the resulting ligand and geometric effects,Pd@Pt_(3L) NPs/C exhibits not only significantly enhanced ECSA,electrocatalytic activity, and noble-metal(NM)utilization compared to commercial Pt/C,showing 81.24 m^(2)/gPt,0.710 mA/cm^(2),and 352/577 mA/mgNM/Pt in ECSA,area-,and NM-/Pt-mass-specific activity, respectively;but also a much better electrochemical stability during the 10,000-cycle accelerated degradation test.More importantly, the corresponding 25-cm^(2) H2-air/O_(2) fuel cell with the low cathodic Pt loading of~0.152 mgPt/cm^(2)geo achieves the high power density of 0.962/1.261 W/cm^(2)geo at the current density of only 1,600 mA/cm^(2)geo,which is much higher than that for the commercial Pt/C.This work not only develops a high-performance and practical Pt-based ORR electrocatalyst, but also provides a scalable preparation method for fabricating the ultrathin Pt-shell nanostructure, which can be further expanded to other metal shells for other energy-conversion applications. | Liuxuan Luo Cehuang Fu Aiming Wu Zechao Zhuang Fengjuan Zhu Fangling Jiang Shuiyun Shen Xiyang Cai Qi Kang Zhifeng Zheng Chenyi Hu Jiewei Yin Guofeng Xia Junliang Zhang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 2
