The catalysts were denoted as Co-E10-n(n = 0, 9, 26, 68, 81) and Co-A6-m(m = 0, 8, 23, 63, 79), where n and m denote the degree of Co2+ exchange. The products of the oxidation process were identified as styrene epoxide(E) and benzaldehyde(B). Both the pristine forms, ETS-10(Co-E10-0) and AM-6(Co-A6-0), and Co2+-exchanged forms displayed catalytic activities. With increasing n or m, the conversion, and hence the rate, increased. Specifically, the rates varied from 6.1 to 12.5 mmol·g-1·h-1with increasing n(Co-E10-n catalysts) and from 5.4 to 12.4 mmol·g-1·h-1 with increasing m(Co-A6-m catalysts). In contrast, the E/B ratio decreased with increasing n or m. More specifically,the E/B ratio decreased from 2.1 to 0.1 with increasing n from 0 to 81(Co-E10-n catalysts) and from 1.3 to 0.1 with increasing m from 0 to 79(Co-A6-m catalysts). Co-E10-9 displayed the highest E yield and Co-A6-79 generated the highest B yield. | 13 | Inhibition of the emergence of multi drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus by Withania somnifera root extracts显示文摘Objective:To search systematically for an alternative therapy with compounds particularly from plant origin.Methods:Efficacy test of different root extracts of Withania somnifera(W. somnifera)(L) Dunal against multi drug resistant(MDR) Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) variants was performed following the agar well diffusion method.Evaluation of susceptibility pattern of the isolates was carried out by employing disk diffusion method using standard antibiotic disks. | 14 | Toward Liquid Phase Processable Metal Organic Frameworks:Dream or Reality?显示文摘CONSPECTUS:Conventionally,the virtue of porosity is only given to porous solids.Metal Organic Frameworks(MOFs),carbon materials,or zeolites are some examples.However,processing these solids is not a straightforward task.Here,we discuss how to endow porous solids(MOFs)with liquid phase processability.More specifically,we show that surface modification of MOF crystals can lead to the formation of porous liquids(PLs)that can be further processed in the liquid phase.For instance,when placed in mesitylene,ZIF-67 predictably sediments.In contrast,with the adequate surface modification,stable dispersion of ZIF-67 can be achieved.Our proposed surface modification is facile and rapid.N-Heterocyclic carbenes are chosen as modifying agents as they are similar to imidazole linkers present on ZIFs.A simple stirring of a MOF and carbene mixture results in a modified solid.The morphology and textural properties of the modified MOF do not change from the ones of its parent.Since the porosity in solution remains unoccupied,the obtained stable colloids behave as porous liquids.Research into porous liquids is an emerging field that has already shown great promise in gases storage.Our breakthrough experiments show that these particular PLs have large potential for the separation of CO_(2)/CH_(4)mixtures. | Daria Poloneeva Shuvo Jit Datta Luis Garzon-Tovar Sara Durini Magnus Rueping Mohamed Eddaoudi Anastasiya Bavykina Jorge Gascon | 2021 | Accounts of Materials Research2021,2,12: | 0 |

| 16 | Flexural Strength and Load-Deflection Behaviour of Hybrid Thermoset Composites of Wood and Canola Biopolymers显示文摘The study aims to incorporate cellulosic canola(Brassica napus L.)biopolymers with wood biomass to increase flexural strength more than wood fraction alone.A facile fabrication process-at ambient temperature-is employed for ease of producing two different sets of bio-composites utilizing unsaturated polyester resin:pristine composite structures of 100%wood and hybrid composite structures of a canola-wood blend.The curing process is accompanied by methyl ethyl ketone peroxide(MEKP).Besides the lightweight feature,the hybrid composite structures exhibit maximum flexural strength up to 59.6 and 89.58 MPa at 2.5 and 5%fibre polymer fraction,outperforming the pristine wood composites(49.25 MPa).Also,the bending behaviours of the composite structures are illustrated by the load-deflection curves and the associated SEM micrographs display their fractured and debonded surface at the cross-section.The novel canola fibre benefits from its inherent hollow architecture,facilitating an excellent strength to weight ratio for the thermoset composites.Interestingly,canola displays a fibre diameter and density of 79.80(±41.31)μm and 1.34(±0.0014)g/cc,contributing effectively towards the flexure performance and high packing density.The breaking tenacity(13.31±4.59 g-force/tex)and tensile strength(174.93±60.29)of canola fibres are comparable to other bast fibres.The synergy among fibre diameters,density and break-ing tenacity creates a good interphase to successfully transfer the external compressive load from the resin matrix to the fibres.Further,the two-parameter Weibull distribution model is applied for predicting the failure and reliability probability of composite specimens against a wide range of compressive loads.Finally,prioritized SWOT factors have been summa-rized associated with the prospects and key challenges of canola biopolymers-an attempt to strategize the planning and decision-making process for a potential business environment.The introduction of canola into the plastic industries would ultimately promote the application of sustainable biopolymers in diverse grounds including the interior panels for aerospace,automotive,and furniture industries. | Ikra Iftekhar Shuvo Md.Saiful Hoque Md.Shadhin Lovely K.M.Khandakar | 2021 | Advanced Fiber Materials2021,3,5: | 0 |
