Potential of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria-plant interactions in mitigating salt stress for sustainable agriculture:A review显示文摘Soil salinization affecting different crops is one of the serious threats to global food security.Soil salinity affects 20%and 33%of the total cultivated and irrigated agricultural lands, respectively, and has been reported to caused a global crop production loss of 27.3 billion USD.The conventional approaches, such as using salt-tolerant varieties, saline soil scrapping, flushing, leaching, and adding supplements (e.g.,gypsum and lime),often fail to alleviate stress. In this context, developing diverse arrays of microbes enhancing crop productivity under saline soil conditions without harming soil health is necessary.Various advanced omics approaches have enabled gaining new insights into the structure and metabolic functions of plant-associated beneficial microbes.Various genera of salt-tolerating rhizobacteria ameliorating biotic and abiotic stresses have been isolated from different legumes, cereals, vegetables, and oil seeds under extreme alkaline and saline soil conditions.Rapid progress in rhizosphere microbiome research has revived the belief that plants may be more benefited from their association with interacting diverse microbial communities as compared with individual members in a community. In the last decade, several salt-tolerating plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) that improve crop production under salt stress have been exploited for the reclamation of saline agrosystems. This review highlights that the interaction of salt-tolerating microbes with plants improves crop productivity under salinity stress along with potential salt tolerance mechanisms involved and will open new avenues for capitalizing on cultivable diverse microbial communities to strengthen plant salt tolerance and, thus,to refine agricultural practices and production under saline conditions.Kailash Chand KUMAWAT Sharon NAGPAL Poonam SHARMA 2022Pedosphere2022,32,2:5
Membrane-bound mucins and mucin terminal glycans expression in idiopathic or Helicobacter pylori, NSAID associated peptic ulcers显示文摘AIM:To determine the expression of membrane-bound mucins and glycan side chain sialic acids in Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)-associated,non-steroidal inflammatory drug(NSAID)-associated and idiopathic-gastric ulcers.METHODS:We studied a cohort of randomly selected patients with H.pylori(group 1,n=30),NSAID(group 2,n=18),combined H.pylori and NSAID associated gastric ulcers(group 3,n=24),and patients with idiopathic gastric ulcers(group 4,n=20).Immunohistochemistry for MUC1,MUC4,MUC17,and staining for Erythrina cristagalli agglutinin and Sambucus nigra agglutinin(SNA)lectins was performed on sections from the ulcer margins.RESULTS:Staining intensity of MUC17 was higher in H.pylori ulcers(group 1)than in idiopathic ulcers(group4),11.05±3.67 vs 6.93±4.00 for foveola cells,and10.29±4.67 vs 8.00±3.48 for gland cells,respectively(P<0.0001).In contrast,MUC1 expression was higher in group 4 compared group 1,9.89±4.17 vs 2.93±5.13 in foveola cells and 7.63±4.60 vs 2.57±4.50 for glands,respectively(P<0.0001).SNA lectin staining was increased in group 4,in parallel to elevated MUC1expression,indicating more abundantα2-6 sialylation in that group.CONCLUSION:Cytoplasmic MUC17 staining was sig-nificantly decreased in the cases with idiopathic ulcer. The opposite was observed for both MUC1 and SNA lectin. This observation may reflect important pathogenic mechanisms, since different mucins with altered sialylation patterns may differ in their protection efficiency against acid and pepsin.Yaron Niv Doron Boltin Marisa Halpern Miriam Cohen Zohar Levi Alex Vilkin Sara Morgenstern Vahig Manugian Erica St Lawrence Pascal Gagneux Sukhwinder Kaur Poonam Sharma Surinder K Batra Samuel B Ho 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,40:5
Analyses of Lattice Traffic Flow Model on a Gradient Highway显示文摘The optimal current difference lattice hydrodynamic model is extended to investigate the traffic flow dynamics on a unidirectional single lane gradient highway. The effect of slope on uphill/downhill highway is examined through linear stability analysis and shown that the slope significantly affects the stability region on the phase diagram.Using nonlinear stability analysis, the Burgers, Korteweg-deVries(KdV) and modified Korteweg-deVries(mKdV) equations are derived in stable, metastable and unstable region, respectively. The effect of reaction coefficient is examined and concluded that it plays an important role in suppressing the traffic jams on a gradient highway. The theoretical findings have been verified through numerical simulation which confirm that the slope on a gradient highway significantly influence the traffic dynamics and traffic jam can be suppressed efficiently by considering the optimal current difference effect in the new lattice model.Arvind Kumar Gupta Sapna Sharma Poonam Redhu 2014Communications in Theoretical Physics2014,61,9:5
Anti-mycobacterial screening of five Indian medicinal plants and partial purification of active extracts of Cassia sophera and Urtica dioica显示文摘Objective:To find out the anti-mycobacterial potential of Cassia sophera(C.sophera),Urtica dioica(U.dioica),Momordica dioica,Tribulus terrains and Coccinia indica plants against multidrug resistant(MDR) strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M.tuberculosis).Methods:Plant materials were extracted successively with solvents of increasing polarity.Solvent extracts were screened for anti-mycobacterial activity against fast growing,non-pathogenic mycobacterium strain,Mycobacterium semegmatis,by disk diffusion method. The active extracts were tested against MDR and clinical isolates of M.tuberculosis by absolute concentration and proportion methods. The active extracts were subjected to bio-autoassay on TLC followed by silica column chromatography for isolation of potential drug leads. Results:Hexane extract of U.dioica(HEUD) and methanol extract of C.sophera(MECS) produced inhibition zone of 20 mm in disc diffusion assay and MIC of 250 and 125μg/mL respectively in broth dilution assay against Mycobacterium semegmatis.Semipurified traction F2 from MECS produced 86%inhibition against clinical isolate and 60%inhibition against MDR strain of ilf.tuberculosis.F18 from HEUD produced 81%inhibition against clinical isolate and 60%inhibition against MDR strain of M.tuberculosis.Phytochemical analysis indicated that anti-mycobacterial activity of MECS may be due to presence of alkaloids or flavonoids and that of HEUD due to terpenoids.Condosions:C.sophera and U.dioica plant extracts exhibited promising anti-mycobacterial activity against MDR strain of M.tuberculosis. This is the first report of anti-mycobacterial activity form C.sophera.This study showed possibility of purifying novel anti-mycobacterial compound(s) from C.sophera and U.dioica.Rambir Singh Shariq Hussain Rajesh Verma Poonam Sharma 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,5:4
Molecular identification of sex in Hippophae rhamnoides L. using isozyme and RAPD markers显示文摘In many dioecious plants, gender affects economic value, breeding schemes and opportunities for commercial harvests. Hippophae rhamnoides L. is a dioecious plant species in which female genotypes are commercially preferred over male genotypes. Its berries have rich medicinal, nutritional and pharmaceutical properties because of their large amounts of vitamins, essential oils, proteins, fatty acids, free amino acids and flavanoids. Primary limitation for breeding H. rhamnoides L. is its dioecious nature, since gender cannot be identified by traditional methods. Therefore, some reliable and quick methods need to be developed. This communication deals with the development of isozyme and RAPD markers for early sex identification in this dioecious tree. The isozyme analysis was conducted with four enzyme systems, viz. peroxidase, esterase, malate dehydrogenase and catalase. The peroxidase enzyme system produced a female specific sex marker, which successfully differentiated between the staminate and pistillate genotypes of H. rhamnoides L. Thirty five random decamer primers were used in our study and one male sex linked marker was identified. OPD-20 (5′-ACTTCGCCAC-3′) displayed a band at 911 bp that expressed polymorphism between male and female genotypes. The staminate and pistillate genotypes could be distinguished using RAPD marker OPD-20911. These results revealed the immense potential of peroxidase isozyme patterns and RAPD as genetic markers for sex identification in H. rhamnoides L.Amit SHARMA Gaurav ZINTA Satender RANA Poonam SHIRKOT 2010Forestry Studies in China2010,12,2:3
Genetics of severe combined immunodeficiency显示文摘Severe Combined Immunodeficiency(SCID)is an inherited group of rare, lifethreatening disorders due to the defect in T cell development and function.Clinical manifestations are characterised by recurrent and severe bacterial, viral, and fungal opportunistic infections that start from early infancy period.Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation(HSCT)is the treatment of choice. The pattern of inheritance of SCID may be X-linked or autosomal recessive.Though the diagnosis of SCID is usually established by flow cytometry-based tests, genetic diagnosis is often needed for genetic counselling, prognostication, and modification of pre-transplant chemotherapeutic agents. This review aims to highlight the genetic aspects of SCID.Rajni Kumrah Pandiarajan Vignesh Pratap Patra Ankita Singh Gummadi Anjani Poonam Saini Madhubala Sharma Anit Kaur Amit Rawat 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,1:2

Temperature-dependent aggregation of bio-surfactants in aqueous solutions of galactose and lactose:Volumetric and viscometric approach显示文摘Modulation in the aggregation behavior of bio-surfactants(bile salts), sodium cholate(NaC) and sodium deoxycholate(NaDC) in aqueous solutions of carbohydrates(galactose and lactose) have been investigated by measuring the density(ρ), speed of sound(u) and viscosity(η) of the mixtures at different temperatures293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. The density and speed of sound data have been used to calculate various volumetric and compressibility parameters such as apparent molar volume(V_φ), isentropic compressibility(κ_s), apparent molar adiabatic compression(κ_(s, φ)) to get a better insight into the micellization mechanism of bile salts. Further, the viscosity data have been studied in the light of relative viscosity(η_r) and viscous relaxation time(τ). Some derived parameters such as free volume(V_f), internal pressure(πi) and molar cohesive energy(MCE) of Na C and Na DC in aqueous solution of saccharides have also been calculated from viscosity data in conjunction with density and speed of sound values. All the calculated and derived parameters provide qualitative information regarding the nature of interactions i.e. solute–solute, solute–solvent and solvent–solvent in the solution.S.Chauhan Vivek Sharma Maninder Kaur Poonam Chaudhary 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,5:1

MicroRNA regulation and host interaction in response to Aspergillus exposure显示文摘Aspergillus is a group of conidial fungi, isolated from soil and litter, cause serious diseases in humans and animals. This ubiquitous fungus is prevalent in the air and inhalation of fungal spores is common.Fungal diseases from Aspergillus became a major health problem and are difficult to manage because they tend to be chronic and invasive, hard to diagnose and difficult to exterminate with antifungal drugs.Although, immune responses play vital roles in monitoring the fate of fungal infections and regulation of the immune responses against fungal infections might be an effective approach for controlling and reducing the pathological damages.Recent studies have shown that microRNAs(miRNAs)are assembly of regulators which modulates the immune responses during fungal infections through diversified cellular mechanisms. These small non-coding RNA sequences regulate gene expression, mostly at the post-transcriptional level and have emerged as the controller of gene expression of at least 30%human genes. Therefore,miRNAs might be considered as one of the potential goals in immunotherapy for fungal infections. The objective of this review is to explore the role of miRNAs in host recognition processes and understanding the modulation of regulatory pathways in response to Aspergillus exposure.MANSI SHRIVASTAVA DIKSHA PANDEY POONAM SHARMA RAMBIR SINGH 2022BIOCELL2022,46,2:0
Co-inoculation of indigenous Pseudomonas oryzihabitans and Bradyrhizobium sp.modulates the growth, symbiotic efficacy, nutrient acquisition, and grain yield of soybean显示文摘Soil microbes play a vital role in improving plant growth, crop productivity, and soil health through solubilization of essential nutrients.Present investigation was conducted to access the efficacy of Bradyrhizobium sp.LSBR-3 and the indigenous phosphate-solubilizing Pseudomonas oryzihabitans LSE-3 in improving the symbiosis, nutrient accumulation, and yield of soybean. The isolate LSE-3,selected on the basis of phosphate solubilization, was screened for beneficial traits, antagonistic activities, and pathogenicity. The levels of indole acetic acid production(50.34±2.35μg mL^(-1)),phosphate solubilization(184.4±7.4 mg L^(-1)),biofilm formation(optical density at 560 mm,1.3896±0.04),siderophore production(121.46±1.61μg mL^(-1)),and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase activity(0.51±0.07 mmolα-ketobutyrateμg^(-1) protein h^(-1))were significantly higher with the dual inoculants(LSBR-3 and LSE-3)than with the single inoculant LSBR-3.The plant growth-promoting traits of single and dual inoculants were evaluated for the synergistic effects on soybean under field conditions.Soybean plots treated with LSBR-3+LSE-3 exhibited improvement in seed germination, plant height, plant biomass, and chlorophyll content compared with the uninoculated control.Dual inoculant treatments resulted in significantly higher symbiotic efficacy evidenced by increased nodulation(40.0±0.75 plant^(-1)),nodule biomass(188.52±6.29 mg plant^(-1)),and leghemoglobin content(11.02±0.83 mg g^(-1) fresh nodule),and significantly increased activities of phosphatase(75.16±3.17 and 58.77±6.08μg p-nitrophenol g^(-1) h^(-1) for alkaline and acid phosphatase, respectively)and dehydrogenase(32.66±1.92μg triphenylformazan g^(-1) h^(-1))compared with the control.Dual inoculation with LSBR-3 and LSE-3 enhanced the uptake of macro-and micronutrients, reduced Na content in shoots, and resulted in 10.85%higher grain yield and ca.US$96.80 ha^(-1) higher profit compared with the control. This is the first report on the effectiveness of combined inoculation of LSE-3 and LSBR-3 in promoting the growth, symbiotic efficacy, and yield of soybean for sustainable agriculture.Kailash Chand KUMAWAT Inderjeet SINGH Sharon NAGPAL Poonam SHARMA Rajeev Kumar GUPTA Asmita SIRARI 2022Pedosphere2022,32,3:0
Dielectric, electrical conduction and magnetic properties of multiferroic Bi_(0.8)Tb_(0.1)Ba_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(3)perovskite compound显示文摘This work focuses on the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of Bi_(0.8)Tb_(0.1)Ba_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(3)ceramics,fabricated by solid state reaction procedure.XRD forms of the samples at RT exhibited perovskite phase through the hexagonal structure at room temperature.Dielectric studies of the materials with frequency at different temperatures(25-400℃)exhibit two dielectric anomalies, first at 175℃(ferroelectric-ferroelectric transition)and second at around 320℃(ferroelectric-paraelectric transition). The Curie temperature moved towards the low side temperature with the increase in frequency. The less value of activation energy got for these samples could be attributed to the influence of electronic contribution to the conductivity.A significant change in the magnetic studies was observed for Bi_(0.8)Tb_(0.1)Ba_(0.1)Fe_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(3) ceramic. The impedance analysis confirms the non-Debye type nature of the ceramic and relaxation frequency moved to a higher temperature. The Nyquist plot and conductivity studies showed the NTCR behavior of samples. The highest magnetization field was found at temperature-268.15℃.Poonam Kumari Radheshyam Rai Seema Sharma M.A.Valente 2017Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2017,7,5:0
