4Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 5Vertical dynamic and thermodynamic characteristics of urban lower boundary layer and its relationship with aerosol concentration over Beijing显示文摘By utilizing observational data from a 325 m tower of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on March 19-29, 2001 and August 11-25, 2003, a comprehensive study was conducted on the vertical dynamical and thermodynamic characteristics of the urban lower boundary layer (ULBL) and its relationship with aerosol concentration over Beijing. Firstly, a comparative analysis was made on the gradient data (wind, temperature and humidity), ultrasonic data (atmospheric turbulences) and air-quality observations at different tower heights (47, 120 and 280 m). Secondly, a diagnosis was made to reveal the major features of normalized variances of velocity and temperature, turbulence kinetic energy as well as their relationship with aerosol concentrations. Furthermore, the characteristics of the ULBL vertical structure and the TSP concentration/distribution variations during a sand/dust weather process were also analyzed. The outcome of the study showed that under unstable stratification, the normalized variances of velocity (σu/u*, σv/u*, σw/u*) and temperature (σT/T*) at 47 and 120 m heights fit the Monin-Obukhov similarity (MOS) framework and the fitting formulas were given out accordingly. According to the stratification parameter (z′/L), the stable ULBL could be divided into 2 zones. With z′/L<0.1, it was a weakly stable zone and MOS framework was applicable. The other was a highly stable zone with z′/L>0.1 and the normalized velocity variances tended to increase along with higher stability, but it remained constant for normalized temperature variances. At daytime, the near-surface layer includes two heights of 47 and 120 m, while 280 m has been above it. 6The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 8Clinical Application of Chromosome Microarray Analysis in Han Chinese Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders显示文摘Chromosome microarray analysis(CMA) is a cost-effective molecular cytogenetic technique that has been used as a first-line diagnostic test in neurodevelopmental disorders in the USA since 2011. The impact of CMA results on clinical practice in China is not yet well studied, so we aimed to better evaluate this phenomenon.We analyzed the CMA results from 434 patients in our clinic, and characterized their molecular diagnoses, clinical features, and follow-up clinical actions based on these results. The overall diagnostic yield for our patients was 13.6%(59 out of 434). This gave a detection rate of 14.7%for developmental delay/intellectual disability(DD/ID,38/259) and 12% for autism spectrum disorders(ASDs,21/175). Thirty-three recurrent(n≥2) variants were found, distributed at six chromosomal loci involving known chromosome syndromes(such as DiGeorge, Williams Beuren, and Angelman/Prader-Willi syndromes).The spectrum of positive copy number variants in our study was comparable to that reported in Caucasian populations, but with specific characteristics. Parental origin tests indicated an effect involving a significant maternal transmission bias to sons. The majority of patients with positive results(94.9%) had benefits, allowing earlier diagnosis(36/59), prioritized full clinical management(28/59), medication changes(7/59), a changed prognosis(30/59), and prenatal genetic counseling(15/59). Our results provide information on de novo mutations in Chinese children with DD/ID and/or ASDs. Our data showed that microarray testing provides immediate clinical utility for patients. 11Interfacial microstructure evolution and bonding mechanisms of 14YWT alloys produced by hot compression bonding显示文摘Hot compression bonding was first used to join oxide-dispersion-strengthened ferrite steels(14 YWT)under temperatures of 750–1100℃ with a true strain range of 0.11–0.51. Subsequently, the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the joints were characterized, revealing that the 14 YWT steels could be successfully bonded at a temperature of at least 950℃ with a true strain of 0.22, without degrading the fine grain and nanoparticle distribution, and the presence of inclusions or micro-voids along the bonding interface. Moreover, the joints had nearly the same tensile properties at room temperature and exhibited a similar fracture morphology with sufficient dimples compared to that of the base material. An electron backscattered diffraction technique and transmission electron microscopy were systematically employed to study the evolution of hot deformed microstructures. The results showed that continuous dynamic recrystallization characterized by progressive subgrain rotation occurred in this alloy, but discontinuous dynamic recrystallization characterized by strain-induced grain boundary bulging and subsequent bridging sub-boundary rotation was the dominant nucleation mechanism. 12Microstructure evolutions and interfacial bonding behavior of Ni-based superalloys during solid state plastic deformation bonding显示文摘As an advanced solid state bonding process,plastic deformation bonding(PDB)is a highly reliable metallurgical joining method that produces significant plastic deformation at the bonding interface of welded joints through thermo-mechanical coupling.In this study,PDB behavior of IN718 superalloy was systematically investigated by performing a series of isothermal compression tests at various processing conditions.It was revealed that new grains evolved in the bonding area through discontinuous dynamic recrystallization(DDRX)at 1000–1150℃.Electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)results revealed that the bonding of joints is related with interfacial grain boundary(IGB)bulging process,which is considered as a nucleation process of DRXed grain under different deformation environments.During recrystallization process,the bonded interface moved due to strain-induced boundary migration(SIBM)process.Stored energy difference(caused by accumulation of dislocations at the bonding interface)was the dominant factor for SIBM during DRX.The mechanical properties of the bonded joints were dependent upon the recrystallized microstructure and SIBM ensued during PDB.Jian Yang Zhang Bin Xu Naeemul Haq Tariq MingYue Sun DianZhong Li Yi Yi Li 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,42,11:6
13The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components.The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. 14Effects of alkalinity on interaction between EPS and hydroxy-aluminum with different speciation in wastewater sludge conditioning with aluminum based inorganic polymer flocculant显示文摘Extracellular polymeric substances(EPS)form a stable gel-like structure to combine with water molecules through steric hindrance,making the mechanical dewatering of wastewater sludge considerably difficult.Coagulation/flocculation has been widely applied in improving the sludge dewatering performance,while sludge properties(organic fraction and solution chemistry conditions)are highly changeable and have important effects on sludge flocculation process.In this work,the alkalinity effects on sludge conditioning with hydroxy-aluminum were comprehensively investigated,and the interaction mechanisms between EPS and hydroxy-aluminum with different speciation were unraveled.The results showed that the effectiveness of hydroxy-aluminum conditioning gradually deteriorated with increase in alkalinity.Meanwhile,the polymeric hydroxy-aluminum(Al 13)and highly polymerized hydroxy-aluminum(Al 30)were hydrolysed and converted into amorphous aluminum hydroxide(Al(OH)3),which changed the flocculation mechanism from charge neutralization and complexing adsorption to hydrogen bond interaction.Additionally,both Al 13 and Al 30 showed higher binding capacity for proteins and polysaccharides in EPS than monomeric aluminum and Al(OH)3.Al 13 and Al 30 coagulation changed the secondary structure of proteins in EPS,which caused a gelation reaction to increase molecular hydrophobicity of proteins and consequently sludge dewaterability.This study provided a guidance for optimizing the hydroxy-aluminum flocculation conditioning of sludge with high solution alkalinity.Weijun Zhang Mingyue Tang Dandan Li Peng Yang Shiwei Xu Dongsheng Wang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2:5
15Establishment of a Reverse Genetic System of Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Based on a C4 Strain显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV)is an emerging tick-borne bunyavirus that causes hemorrhagic fever-like disease(SFTS)in humans with a case fatality rate up to 30%.To date,the molecular biology involved in SFTSV infection remains obscure.There are seven major genotypes of SFTSV(C1-C4 and J1-J3)and previously a reverse genetic system was established on a C3 strain of SFTSV.Here,we reported successfully establishment of a reverse genetics system based on a SFTSV C4 strain.First,we obtained the 5’-and 3’-terminal untranslated region(UTR)sequences of the Large(L),Medium(M)and Small(S)segments of a laboratory-adapted SFTSV C4 strain through rapid amplification of cDNA ends analysis,and developed functional T7 polymerase-based L-,M-and S-segment minigenome assays.Then,fulllength cDNA clones were constructed and infectious SFTSV were recovered from co-transfected cells.Viral infectivity,growth kinetics,and viral protein expression profile of the rescued virus were compared with the laboratory-adapted virus.Focus formation assay showed that the size and morphology of the foci formed by the rescued SFTSV were indistinguishable with the laboratory-adapted virus.However,one-step growth curve and nucleoprotein expression analyses revealed the rescued virus replicated less efficiently than the laboratory-adapted virus.Sequence analysis indicated that the difference may be due to the mutations in the laboratory-adapted strain which are more prone to cell culture.The results help us to understand the molecular biology of SFTSV,and provide a useful tool for developing vaccines and antivirals against SFTS.Mingyue Xu Bo Wang Fei Deng Hualin Wang Manli Wang Zhihong Hu Jia Liu 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,5:5

18Structures of convection and turbulent kinetic energy in boundary layer over the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Based on a comprehensive analysis on Sonic Anemometer and gradient data, wind profile radar(WPR) and GPS sounding data of March–August 2008 from the boundary layer(BL) tower observation system at Dali on the southeastern edge of Tibetan Plateau(TP), it is found that the strengths of turbulent kinetic energy(TKE), buoyancy term and shear term depend on vegetation cover in association with local stability and thermodynamic condition. Strong kinetic turbulence appears when near surface layer in neutral condition with the large contribution from shear term. In an unstable condition within near surface layer, the atmospheric turbulent motion is mainly thermal turbulence, as buoyancy term is obviously larger than shear term. Under a stable condition the intermittent turbulence is accompanied by weak shear and buoyancy term, and TKE is significantly less than neutral or instable condition. The study also presents that the buoyancy term contribution at Nyingchi station in the southern slopes of the TP large topography in spring is significantly larger than that at Dali over the southeastern TP edge, reflecting that the thermal turbulence makes an important contribution to convection activity in the southern slopes of TP. Dali station is located in complex terrain with mountain and valley leading to larger kinetic turbulence. From the perspective of interaction of turbulence-convection in different scales, the study revealed that the height of convective boundary layer(CBL) could reach up to 1500–2000 m. TKE, shear term, and buoyancy term in near surface layer have the notable correlations with BL height and local vertical motion. The daytime thermodynamic turbulence effect of heat flux and buoyancy term has an obvious impact on the height of CBL, whereas mechanical turbulence only exerts a less impact. Mechanical turbulence in near surface layer has a significant impact on vertical motion especially in the forenoon with impacting height of 2500–3000 m. The peaks in diurnal variations of shear term and buoyancy term correspond to the high instable periods, especially in summer forenoon. 19Ultrafast all-optical terahertz modulation based on an inverse-designed metasurface显示文摘Metasurface plays a key role in various terahertz metadevices,while the designed terahertz metasurface still lacks flexibility and variety.On the other hand,inverse design has drawn plenty of attention due to its flexibility and robustness in the application of photonics.This provides an excellent opportunity for metasurface design as well as the development of multifunctional,high-performance terahertz devices.In this work,we demonstrate that,for the first time,a terahertz metasurface supported by the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)effect can be constructed by inverse design,which combines the particle swarm optimization algorithm with the finite-difference time-domain method.Incorporating germanium(Ge)film with inverse-designed metasurface,an ultrafast EIT modulation on the picosecond scale has been experimentally verified.The experimental results suggest a feasibility to build the terahertz EIT effect in the metasurface through an optimization algorithm of inverse design.Furthermore,this method can be further utilized to design multifunctional and high-performance terahertz devices,which is hard to accomplish in a traditional metamaterial structure.In a word,our method not only provides a novel way to design an ultrafast all-optical terahertz modulator based on artificial metamaterials but also shows the potential applications of inverse design on the terahertz devices.WEIBAO HE MINGYU TONG ZHONGJIE XU YUZE HU XIANG’AI CHENG TIAN JIANG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,6:4
20AN ANALYTICAL SOLUTION FOR THE MODEL OF DRUG DISTRIBUTION AND ABSORPTION IN SMALL INTESTINE显示文摘According to the physiological and anatomical characteristics of small intestine,neglecting the effectof its motility on the distribution and absorption of drug and nutrient,Y.Miyamoto et al.proposed a modelof two-dimensional laminar flow in a circular porous tube with permeable wall and calculated the concentrationprofile of drugby numerical analysis.In this paper,we give a steady-state analytical solution of the above modelincluding deactivationterm.The obtained results are in agreement with the results of their numerical analysis.Moreover the analytical solution presented in this paper reveals the relation among the physiological parameters ofthe model and describes the basic absorption rule of drug and nutrient through the intestinal wall and hence pro-vides a theoretical basis for determining the permeability and reflection coefficient through in situ experiments.Xu Mingyu (Department of Mathematics,Shandong University,Jinan,250100,China) 1990Acta Mechanica Sinica1990,6,4:4
