On September 12, 2018, the academic journal A Cancer Journal for Clinicians published an article about the latest statistics of cancers worldwide, which provided a status report on the global burden of 36 cancers in 185 countries worldwide. Cancer has also become a serious public health problem in China and caused more and more attention of the government and people in recent years. | 3 | bHLH121 Functions as a Direct Link that Facilitates the Activation of FIT by bHLH IVc Transcription Factors for Maintaining Fe Homeostasis in Arabidopsis显示文摘Iron(Fe)deficiency is prevalent in plants grown in neutral or alkaline soil.Plants have evolved sophisticated mechanisms that regulate Fe homeostasis,ensuring survival.In Arabidopsis,FER-LIKE IRON DEFICIENCY-INDUCED TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR(FIT)is a crucial regulator of Fe-deficiency response.FIT is activated indirectly by basic helix-loop-helix(bHLH)IVc transcription factors(TFs)under Fed eficiency;how ever,it remains unclear which protein(s)act as the linker to mediate the activation of FIT by bHLH IVc TFs.In this study,we characterize the functions of bHLH121 and demonstrate that it directly associates with the FIT promoter.We found that loss-of-function mutations of bHLH121 cause severe Fedeficiency symptoms,reduced Feaccum ulation,and disrupted expression of genes associated with Fehomeostasis.Genetic analysis showed that FIT is epistatic to bHLH121 and FIT overexpression partially rescues the bhlh121 mutant.Further investigations revealed that bHLH IVc TFs interact with and promote nuclear accumulation of bHLH121.We demonstrated that bHLH121 has DNA-binding activity and can bind the prom oters of the FIT and bHLHlb genes,but we did not find that it has either direct transcriptional activation or repression activity tow ard these genes.Meanw hile,we found that bHLH121 functions downstream of and is a direct target of bHLH IVc TFs,and its expression is induced by Fe deficiency in a bHLH IV c-dependent manner.Taken together,these results establish that bHLH121 functions together with bHLH IVc TFs to positively regulate the expression of FIT and thus plays a pivotal role in maintaining Fe homeostasis in Arabidopsis. | Rihua Lei Yang Li Yuerong Cai Chenyang Li Mengna Pu Chengkai Lu Yujie Yang Gang Liang | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,4: | 14 |

| 5 | MoS_(2) wrapped MOF-derived N-doped carbon nanocomposite with wideband electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘Designing electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)materials with wide bandwidth,strong absorption,and light weight is still a great challenge for practical applications.Herein,the novel nitrogen doped carbon(NDC)/MoS_(2) composite with rationally designed composition and structure was developed.The NDC particles were introduced into MoS_(2) nanosheets through the calcination of ZIF-8 precursor and consequent hydrothermal process.A series of characterizations were carried out to investigate the physical properties of the as-prepared nanocomposites.The NDC particles exhibited the shape of rhombic dodecahedron with the size of about 500 nm,which were decorated on flower-shaped MoS_(2) with the size of about 3μm.With the increasing NDC content,the absorbing properties of NDC/MoS_(2) composites increased firstly and then decreased.The features of NDC/MoS_(2) composite including interconnected porous structure,nitrogen dopant,and appropriate electrical conductivity gave rise to the polarization,multiple reflection,multiple scattering,and impedance matching,resulting in the outstanding EMWA performance.With a filler loading ratio of 30 wt.%,the optimized EMWA property can be achieved when the mass ratio of NDC to MoS_(2) was adjusted to be 1:1.At a coating thickness of 3.0 mm,the effective EMWA bandwidth(<−10 dB)reached 6.08 GHz(8.56–14.64 GHz).These satisfactory achievements provide a way for the reasonable design of high-performance EMWA and new ideas for future research on wideband EMWA. | Juhua Luo Mengna Feng Ziyang Dai Chenye Jiang Wei Yao Naixin Zhai | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,7: | 8 |

| 7 | Effects of hypoxia on survival,behavior,and metabolism of Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri Jones et Preston 1904显示文摘Hypoxia,a frequent occurring threat in coastal regions,often results in mass mortalities of marine organisms and brings a serious ecological problem.The commercially important Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri is being under such a threat as the risks of eutrophication and hypoxia have risen in their culture areas.However,little information has been known concerning their tolerance to hypoxia and their strategy for survival.In the present study,a 20-day experiment was conducted to determine the ef fects of hypoxia on the survival,behavior,and metabolism of Zhikong scallop.With the LC_(50)for dissolved oxygen(DO)being estimated as 1.8 mg/L,the survival of Zhikong scallop can be greatly challenged even under the moderate hypoxic condition of around 2.0 mg/L DO.The survival rate ranged from 69%to 59%when DO dropped from 3.0 to 2.0 mg/L,and it was further reduced to 47%at 1.5 mg/L DO.In hypoxic conditions,the scallops became significantly active,which may be explained as escape attempts to avoid hypoxic water.To save energy,Zhikong scallop would depress their respiration.However,when DO dropped from 3.0 to 2.0 mg/L,the oxygen consumption rate hardly changed.The upregulation of lactate dehydrogenase activity and the unrepressed phosphofructokinase activity,which often result in the unbalanced cellular homeostasis and energy budget,may account for the observed increase in the mortality rate of Zhikong scallops.In general,Zhikong scallop is sensitive to hypoxia events,though possible escape attempts,depressed respiration,and oxaloacetate-pathway may increase their survival chance. | LI Qiao ZHANG Fang WANG Minxiao LI Mengna SUN Song | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,2: | 5 |
| 8 | Amine-functionalized low-cost industrial grade multi-walled carbon nanotubes for the capture of carbon dioxide显示文摘Industrial grade multi-walled carbon nanotubes(IG-MWCNTs) are a low-cost substitute for commercially purified multi-walled carbon nanotubes(P-MWCNTs). In this work, IG-MWCNTs were functionalized with tetraethylenepentamine(TEPA) for CO2capture. The TEPA impregnated IG-MWCNTs were characterized with various experimental methods including N2adsorption/desorption isotherms, elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Both the adsorption isotherms of IGMWCNTs-n and the isosteric heats of different adsorption capacities were obtained from experiments. TEPA impregnated IG-MWCNTs were also shown to have high CO2adsorption capacity comparable to that of TEPA impregnated P-MWCNTs. The adsorption capacity of IG-MWCNTs based adsorbents was in the range of 2.145 to 3.088 mmol/g, depending on adsorption temperatures. | 9 | Hierarchically porous carbon derived from natural Porphyra for excellent electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘A highly efficient absorber with features including lightweight, broad bandwidth, and tunable electromagnetic property still remains challenging for practical applications. Herein, the Porphyra-derived porous carbon(PPC) was fabricated via facile procedures of low-temperature pre-carbonization combined with KOH chemical activation. The composition, microstructure, and electromagnetic wave absorption properties of the samples were elucidated based on X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM),Brunauer-Emmer-Teller(BET), and vector network analyzer(VNA). The porosity of PPC can be readily regulated by adjusting activation temperature. The PPC obtained at 750 ℃ was composed of a threedimensional hierarchically porous carbon network. The C and N elements of natural Porphyra were introduced into the carbon skeleton during the carbonization process. The large specific surface, dopants, and three-dimensional hierarchically porous carbon network can effectively improve the impedance matching and dielectric dissipation, leading to an excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance. Especially, the optimal reflection loss(RL) value reached –57.75 d B at 9.68 GHz with a broad bandwidth(RL< –10 d B) value of 7.60 GHz at 3.5 mm. | 12 | Real-time grain breakage sensing for rice combine harvesters using machine vision technology显示文摘Breakage rate is one of the most important indicators to evaluate the harvesting performance of a combine harvester.It is affected by operating parameters of a combine such as feeding rate,the peripheral speed of the threshing cylinder and concave clearance,and shows complex non-linear law.Real-time acquisition of the breakage rate is an effective way to find the correlation of them.In addition,real-time monitoring of the breakage rate can help the driver optimize and adjust the operating parameters of a combine harvester to avoid the breakage rate exceeding the standard.In this study,a real-time monitoring method for the grain breakage rate of the rice combine harvester based on machine vision was proposed.The structure of the sampling device was designed to obtain rice kernel images of high quality in the harvesting process.According to the working characteristics of the combine,the illumination and installation of the light source were optimized,and the lateral lighting system was constructed.A two-step method of“color training-verification”was applied to identify the whole and broken kernels.In the first step,the local threshold algorithm was used to get the edge of kernel particles in a few training images with binary transformation,extract the color spectrum of each particle in color-space HSL and output the recognition model file.The second step was to verify the recognition accuracy and the breakage rate monitoring accuracy through grabbing and processing images in the laboratory.The experiments of about 2300 particles showed that the recognition accuracy of 96%was attained,and the monitoring values of breakage rate and the true artificial monitoring values had good trend consistency.The monitoring device of grain breakage rate based on machine vision can provide technical supports for the intellectualization of combine harvester. | Jin Chen Yi Lian Rong Zou Shuai Zhang Xiaobo Ning Mengna Han | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,3: | 3 |
| 13 | Frequency steering of spaceborne clocks based on XPNAV-1 observations显示文摘Due to high stable rotations, timing of pulsars provides a natural tool to correct the frequency deviation of spaceborne atomic clocks. Based on processing the observational data about a year of Crab pulsar given by XPNAV-1 satellite, we study the possibility of correcting the frequency deviation of spaceborne atomic clocks using pulsar timing. According to the observational data in X-ray band and the timing model parameters from radio observations, the pre-fit timing residuals with a level of 67.66 μs are obtained. By fitting the slope of the timing residuals affected by the faked frequency-biased reference clock, we estimated successfully the relative frequency deviation of the reference clock. | 19 | A Method for Alpine Wetland Delineation and Features of Border: Zoigê Plateau, China显示文摘Accurate wetland delineation is the basis of wetland definition and mapping, and is of great importance for wetland management and research. The Zoigê Plateau on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was used as a research site for research on alpine wetland delineation. Several studies have analyzed the spatiotemporal pattern and dynamics of these alpine wetlands, but none have addressed the issues of wetland boundaries. The objective of this work was to discriminate the upper boundaries of alpine wetlands by coupling ecological methods and satellite observations. The combination of Landsat 8 images and supervised classification was an effective method for rapid identification of alpine wetlands in the Zoigê Plateau. Wet meadow was relatively stable compared with hydric soils and wetland hydrology and could be used as a primary indicator for discriminating the upper boundaries of alpine wetlands. A slope of less than 4.5° could be used as the threshold value for wetland delineation. The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) in 434 field sites showed that a threshold value of 0.3 could distinguish grasslands from emergent marsh and wet meadow in September. The median normalized difference water index(NDWI) of emergent marsh remained more stable than that of wet meadow and grasslands during the period from September until July of the following year. The index of mean density in wet meadow zones was higher than the emergent and upland zones. Over twice the number of species occurred in the wet meadow zone compared with the emergent zone, and close to the value of upland zone. Alpine wetlands in the three reserves in 2014 covered 1175.19 km2 with a classification accuracy of 75.6%. The combination of ecological methods and remote sensing technology will play an important role in wetland delineation at medium and small scales.
