| 1 | Performance value of high risk factors in colorectal cancer screening in China显示文摘AIM:To analyze the performance value of high risk factors in population-based colorectal cancer(CRC) screening in China.METHODS:We compared the performance value of the immunochemical fecal occult blood test(iFOBT) and other high risk factors questionnaire in a population sample of 13 214 community residents who completed both the iFOBT and questionnaire investigation.Patients with either a positive iFOBT and/or questionnaire were regarded as a high risk population and those eligible were asked to undergo colonoscopy.RESULTS:The iFOBT had the highest positive predictive value and negative predictive value in screening for advanced neoplasia.The iFOBT had the highest sensitivity,lowest number of extra false positive results associated with the detection of one extra abnormality for screening advanced neoplasias and adenomas.A history of chronic cholecystitis or cholecystectomy,chronic appendicitis or appendectomy,and chronic diarrhea also had a higher sensitivity than a history of adenomatous polyps in screening for advanced neoplasias and adenomas.The sensitivity of a history of chronic cholecystitis or cholecystectomy was highest among the 10 high risk factors in screening for nonadenomatous polyps.A history of chronic appendicitis or appendectomy,chronic constipation,chronic diarrhea,mucous and bloody stool,CRC in first degree relatives,malignant tumor and a positive iFOBT also had higher sensitivities than a history of adenomas polyps in screening for non-adenomatous polyps.Except for a history of malignant tumor in screening for non-adenomatous polyps,the gain in sensitivity was associated with an increase in extra false positive results associated with the detection of one extra abnormality.CONCLUSION:The iFOBT may be the best marker for screening for advanced neoplasias and adenomas.Some unique high risk factors may play an important role in CRC screening in China. | Wen Meng Shan-Rong Cai Lun Zhou Qi Dong Shu Zheng Su-Zhan Zhang | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,48: | 41 |

| 4 | Numerical study on ULF waves in a dipole field excited by sudden impulse显示文摘A three-dimensional numerical model is employed to investigate ULF waves ex-cited by the sudden impulse (SI) of the solar wind dynamic pressure interacting with a dipole magnetosphere. We focus on the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling through ULF waves, and the influences of the SI spectrum on the cavity mode structure and the energy deposition due to field line resonances (FLRs) in the magnetosphere. The numerical results show that for a given SI lasting for 1 min with amplitude of 50 mV/m impinging on the subsolar magnetopause, the total ULF energy transported from the solar wind to the magnetosphere is about the magni-tude of 1014 J. The efficiency of the solar wind energy input is around 1%, which depends little on the location of the magnetopause in the model. It is also found that the energy of the cavity mode is confined in the region near the magnetopause, whereas, the energy of the toroidal mode may be distributed among a few specific L-shells. With a given size of the model magnetosphere and plasma density distri-bution, it is shown that the fundamental eigenfrequency of the cavity mode and the central locations of the FLRs do not vary noticeably with the power spectrum of the SI. It is worth noting that the spectrum of the SI affects the excitation of higher harmonics of the global cavity mode. The broader the bandwidth of the SI is, the higher harmonics of cavity mode could be excited. | 5 | Multi-spacecraft observations of ULF waves during the recovery phase of magnetic storm on October 30, 2003显示文摘Based on observations obtained by Cluster C1, GOES 10, 12, and Polar, the global ULF wave properties are studied during the recovery phase of a very intense magnetic storm-Halloween storm (October 31, 2003, 21:00-23:00 UT). The results indicate that the ULF waves’ properties observed by different satellites, such as amplitude, period, etc. show large variations. This can be interpreted as that Field Line Resonance (FLR) might take place in the region where Cluster C1 passed. The compressional wave of the cavity mode coupled with FLR’s shear Alfven wave and fed energy to the latter, forming a large-amplitude toroidal mode. From the point of period, Cluster C1 observed the shortest period, GOES 10, 12 observed the middle, while Polar observed the longest. The wave period of toroidal mode observed by Cluster C1 kept almost unchanging when Cluster C1 passed L range from 11.7 to 5.3. Using the Squared Wavelet Coherence analysis method, we estimated that the FLR region in the dayside magnetosphere could expand to at least 4 local time widths. The toroidal mode observed by Polar was a standing wave, while the pol-oidal mode was a propagating wave, the observation results could be well ex-plained by the waveguide mode theory. | 6 | Nicotinamide overload may play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether nicotinamide overload plays a role in type 2 diabetes. METHODS: Nicotinamide metabolic patterns of 14diabetic and 14 non-diabetic subjects were compared using HPLC. Cumulative effects of nicotinamide and N1-methylnicotinamide on glucose metabolism, plasma H2O2 levels and tissue nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) contents of adult Sprague-Dawley rats were observed. The role of human sweat glands and rat skin in nicotinamide metabolism was investigated using sauna and burn injury, respectively. RESULTS: Diabetic subjects had significantly higher plasma N 1-methylnicotinamide levels 5 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load than the non-diabetic subjects (0.89 ± 0.13 μmol/L vs 0.6 ± 0.13 μmol/L, P < 0.001). Cumulative doses of nicotinamide (2 g/kg) significantly increased rat plasma N 1-methy lnico-tinamide concentrations associated with severe insulin resistance, which was mimicked by N1-methy-lnicotinamide. Moreover, cumulative exposure to N1-methylnicotinamide (2 g/kg) markedly reduced rat muscle and liver NAD contents and erythrocyte NAD/NADH ratio, and increased plasma H2O2 levels. Decrease in NAD/NADH ratio and increase in H2O2 generation were also observed in human erythrocytes after exposure to N1-methylnicotinamide in vitro. Sweating eliminated excessive nicotinamide (5.3-fold increase in sweat nicotinamide concentration 1 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load). Skin damage or aldehyde oxidase inhibition with tamoxifen or olanzapine, both being notorious for impairing glucose tolerance, delayed N1-methylnicotinamide clearance. | 8 | Increased Chondrocyte Apoptosis in Kashin-Beck Disease and Rats Induced by T-2 Toxin and Selenium Deficiency显示文摘Objective To investigate chondrocyte apoptosis and the expression of biochemical markers associated with apoptosis in Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) and in an established T-2 toxin-and selenium(Se) deficiency-induced rat model. Methods Cartilages were collected from the hand phalanges of five patients with KBD and five healthy children. Sprague-Dawley rats were administered a selenium-deficient diet for 4 weeks prior to T-2 toxin exposure. The apoptotic chondrocytes were observed by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase d UTP nick end labeling staining. Caspase-3, p53, Bcl-2, and Bax proteins in the cartilages were visualized by immunohistochemistry, their protein levels were determined by Western blotting, and m RNA levels were determined by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results Increased chondrocyte apoptosis was observed in the cartilages of children with KBD. Increased apoptotic and caspase-3-stained cells were observed in the cartilages of rats fed with normal and Se-deficient diets plus T-2 toxin exposure compared to those in rats fed with normal and Se-deficient diets. Caspase-3, p53, and Bax proteins and m RNA levels were higher, whereas Bcl-2 levels were lower in rats fed with normal or Se-deficiency diets supplemented with T-2 toxin than the corresponding levels in rats fed with normal diet. This paper proposed the architecture and key technologies of the Grid GIS (Geographic Information System) incorporated with P2P structure,and corre-spondingly a Grid GIS prototype named Nebula was designed and then imple-mented. Nebula is a suite of middleware for geospatial Grid computing,which could be deployed onto various service nodes in network. Based on Grid protocols and infrastructure,Nebula provides invocation interfaces to users in form of Grid services. | 10 | Agricultural Heritage Systems Tourism: definition,characteristics and development framework显示文摘Architectural heritage comprises one o the most important elements of mountain settlements in Greece. It holds high cultural value, represents the tangible continuation of the past and forms the unique character and identity of each mountain region. Yet, controversy regarding funding for its preservation often arises. In this paper, we used two Contingent Valuation surveys to estimate the socia benefit deriving from protecting the traditiona architecture in the mountainous village of Sirako and through it, to examine perceptions and attitudes o local residents and visitors. Research findings revealed a strong social will in favor of the good's protection followed by high percentages of positive willingness to pay(WTP). However, WTP is significantly higher among residents. Cultura heritage value, of the good, appears to prevail, along with the environmental one. However, both residents and visitors pointed out that local heritage, if wellpreserved, will boost tourism development. Residents appeared to better recognize the true level o architectural decay, expressed higher apprehension for its protection and were willing to pay higher amount of money. Tourists, on the other side expressed high satisfaction for their visit, appreciated the beauty and serenity emerging from local built and natural environment and spent several days visiting the surrounding area. The longer they stayed and gotfamiliar with the village, the more willing they were to contribute to local heritage's protection. Percentages reflecting indifference for protecting architecture were extremely low. Yet, they were higher among tourists. Traditional architecture is considered as public good; an opinion resulting in an important percentage of visitors stating that national government should provide the necessary funding. In addition, the architecture appears to hold a high level of topicality. Those descending from Sirako or emotionally connected to it, of both social groups,turned out to be more concerned about the good and with a stronger sense of responsibility for it. Usevalue of the good holds high economic value, as well,while higher percentages of zero WTP appeared among non-users. Research findings revealed social attitudes and perceptions on what constitutes architectural heritage, in its cultural and economic frame. | 11 | Paleomagnetic results from Late Carboniferous to Early Permian rocks in the northern Qiangtang terrane, Tibet, China, and their tectonic implications显示文摘Results of a systematic paleomagnetic study are reported based on Late Carboniferous to Early Permian sedimentary rocks on the north slope of the Tanggula Mountains,in the northern Qiangtang terrane(NQT),Tibet,China.Data revealed that magnetic minerals in limestone samples from the Zarigen Formation(CP^z)are primarily composed of magnetite,while those in sandstone samples from the Nuoribagaribao Formation(Pnr)are dominated by hematite alone,or hematite and magnetite in combination.Progressive thermal,or alternating field,demagnetization allowed us to isolate a stable high temperature component(HTC)in 127 specimens from 16 sites which successfully passed the conglomerate test,consistent with primary remnance.The tilt-corrected mean direction for Late Carboniferous to Early Permian rocks in the northern Qiangtang terrane is D_s=30.2°,I_s=-40.9°,k_s=269.0,a_(95)=2.3°,N=16,which yields a corresponding paleomagnetic pole at 25.7°N,241.5°E(dp/dm=2.8°/1.7°),and a paleolatitude of 23.4°S.Our results,together with previously reported paleomagnetic data,indicate that:(1)the NQT in Tibet,China,was located at a low latitude in the southern hemisphere,and may have belonged to the northern margin of Gondwana during the Late Carboniferous to Early Permian;(2)the Paleo-Tethys Ocean was large during the Late Carboniferous to Early Permian,and(3)the NQT subsequently moved rapidly northwards,perhaps related to the fact that the Paleo-Tethys Ocean was rapidly contracting from the Late Permian to Late Triassic while the Bangong Lake-Nujiang Ocean,the northern branch of the Neo-Tethys Ocean,expanded rapidly during this time. | YANG XingFeng CHENG Xin ZHOU YaNan MA Lun ZHANG XiaoDong YAN ZhaoSheng PENG XiMing SU HaiLun WU HanNing | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,1: | 5 |
| 12 | CoP nanoparticles embedded in P and N co-doped carbon as efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting显示文摘Noble-metal-free hydrogen/oxygen evolution reaction(HER/OER) electrocatalysts, especially bifunctional electrocatalysts, are essential for overall water splitting, but their performance is impeded by many factors like poor electrical conductivity. Herein, we fabricated cobalt phosphide(Co P) nanoparticles embedded in P and N co-doped carbon(PNC) matrix(Co P@PNC) to fully realize the high activity of Co P by maximizing its conductivity. Simply a carbonization coupled phosphidation approach was utilized where Co ions and organic ligands of Co-MOF were transferred into Co P and P and N co-doped carbon. The synthesized material shows an ideal electrical conductivity, excellent HER(overpotential of-84 m V and-120 m V @10 m A cm^(-2) in acidic and alkaline medias, respectively) and OER(overpotential of 330 m V@10 m A cm^(-2) in alkaline media) performances. | 13 | A targeted sequencing approach to find novel pathogenic genes associated with sporadic aortic dissection显示文摘Aortic dissection(AD) is a heterogeneous genetic disease of the aorta with high mortality and poor prognosis. However, only few genetic causes of AD have been explored till date. After conducting a broad literature review focused on identifying potential pathogenic pathways, we designed a panel containing 152 AD-associated genes to conduct massively parallel targeted nextgeneration sequencing of 702 sporadic aortic dissection patients and 163 matched healthy controls. After validation by Sanger sequencing, we identified 21 definitely pathogenic and 635 likely pathogenic variants in 61.25%(430/702) of patients. In these patients, 34.88%(150/430) harbored more than one variant that was either definitely or likely to be pathogenic. Among the candidate genes, we identified 546 likely pathogenic variants in 47.72%(335/702) of patients. Importantly, we identified 94 lossof-function(LOF) variants in 45 genes in AD patients, but only five LOF variants in the controls(P=1.34×10^(-4)). With a burden test, we highlighted RNF213 as an important new gene for AD pathogenesis. We also performed transcriptome sequencing of human aorta tissues to evaluate the expression levels of these newly identified genes. Our study has compiled a comprehensive genetic map of sporadic AD in the Han Chinese population. | 14 | Effects of PPAR-y in the Myocardium on the Development of Ventricular Septation显示文摘Ventricular septum defects(VSDs)are common types of congenital heart diseases caused by developmental defect;they contribute to 25%-30%of all adult congenital heart diseases.The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPAR-y)is widely expressed in mammalian tissues and in the immune system,regulating cell differentiation and immune and inflammatory responses.The PPAR-y gene has recently been found crucial for heart development,but the mechanism of action is not clear.This study aims to investigate the effects of the PPAR-y gene in the myocardium on the development of ventricular septation.In this study,we applied Cre-loxP recombination enzyme(CRE)technology to downregulate the expression of the PPAR-y gene in different cardiac tissues,RT-PCR to examine the expression of the c-fos and TGF-B!genes,and histology staining to check the defect of embryonic heart at embryonic day 14.5(E14.5).We found that the downregulation of the PPAR-p gene resulted in a ventricular membranous septation defect of the embryonic heart at E14.5.Furthermore,only conversion of a Tnt:Cre,but not Mef2c:Cre,Tie2:Cre,or Wnt:Cre PPAR-T floxed allele to a null allele resulted in VSD.PPAR-/mi-Orv+embryos showed increascs in atrioventricular(AV)-cushion cells and the expression of c-fos gene but no change in the expression of TGF-B1 at E10.5.Our study demonstrates PPAR-N in the myocardium is required for ventricular septation through regulation of AV-cushion cell proliferation by a Tntc-fos signal. | Lun ZHOU Zhao-zhao WANG Zhi-chao XIAO Ling TU | 2020 | Current Medical Science2020,40,2: | 4 |
| 15 | Variants of genes encoding collagens and matrix metalloproteinase system increased the risk of aortic dissection显示文摘Aortic dissection(AD) is a devastating,heterogeneous condition of aorta.The homeostasis between collagens and matrix metalloproteases(MMPs)/tissue inhibitors of MMPs(TIMPs) system in the extracellular matrix plays an important role for structure and functions of aorta.However,our knowledge on association between variants of genes in this system and pathogenesis of AD is very limited.We analyzed all yet known coding human genes of collagens(45 genes),MMPs/TIMPs(27genes) in 702 sporadic AD patients and in 163 matched healthy controls,by using massively targeted next-generation and Sanger sequencing.To define the pathogenesis of potential disease-causing candidate genes,we performed transcriptome sequencing and pedigree co-segregation analysis in some genes and generated Col5a2 knockout rats.We identified 257 pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants which involved 88.89%(64/72) genes in collagens-MMPs/TIMPs system and accounted for 31.05%(218/702) sporadic AD patients.In them,84.86%patients(185/218) carried one variant,12.84%two variants and 2.30%more than two variants.Importantly,we identified 52 novel probably pathogenic loss-of-function(LOF) variants(20 nonsense,16 frameshift,14 splice sites,one stop-loss,one initiation codon) in 11.06%(50/452) AD patients,which were absent in 163controls(P=2.5×10^(-5)).Transcriptome sequencing revealed that identified variants induced dyshomeostasis in expression of collagens-TIMPs/MMPs systems.The Col5α2^(-/-) rats manifested growth retardation and aortic dysplasia.Our study provides a first comprehensive map of genetic alterations in collagens-MMPs/TIMPs system in sporadic AD patients and suggests that variants of these genes contribute largely to AD pathogenesis. | Zongzhe Li Chengming Zhou Lun Tan Peng Chen Yanyan Cao Chenze Li Xianqing Li Jiangtao Yan Hesong Zeng Dao-Wu Wang Dao-Wen Wang | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,1: | 4 |
| 16 | Recent Advancements on Photothermal Conversion and Antibacterial Applications over MXenes-Based Materials显示文摘The pernicious bacterial proliferation and emergence of super-resistant bacteria have already posed a great threat to public health,which drives researchers to develop antibiotic-free strategies to eradicate these fierce microbes.Although enormous achievements have already been achieved,it remains an arduous challenge to realize efficient sterilization to cut off the drug resistance generation.Recently,photothermal therapy(PTT)has emerged as a promising solution to efficiently damage the integrity of pathogenic bacteria based on hyperthermia beyond their tolerance.Until now,numerous photothermal agents have been studied for antimicrobial PTT.Among them,MXenes(a type of two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides)are extensively investigated as one of the most promising candidates due to their high aspect ratio,atomic-thin thickness,excellent photothermal performance,low cytotoxicity,and ultrahigh dispersibility in aqueous systems.Besides,the enormous application scenarios using their antibacterial properties can be tailored via elaborated designs of MXenes-based materials.In this review,the synthetic approaches and textural properties of MXenes have been systematically presented first,and then the photothermal properties and sterilization mechanisms using MXenes-based materials are documented.Subsequently,recent progress in diverse fields making use of the photothermal and antibacterial performances of MXenes-based materials are well summarized to reveal the potential applications of these materials for various purposes,including in vitro and in vivo sterilization,solar water evaporation and purification,and flexible antibacterial fabrics.Last but not least,the current challenges and future perspectives are discussed to provide theoretical guidance for the fabrication of efficient antimicrobial systems using MXenes. | Shuyan Hao Hecheng Han Zhengyi Yang Mengting Chen Yanyan Jiang Guixia Lu Lun Dong Hongling Wen Hui Li Jiurong Liu Lili Wu Zhou Wang Fenglong Wang | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,11: | 4 |

| 20 | Error modeling and compensating of a novel 6-DOF aeroengine rotor docking equipment显示文摘In the docking process of aeroengine rotor parts,docking accuracy that indicates the gaps between the end faces is strictly required.A key issue is improving docking accuracy using automated docking equipment.In this paper,a systematic study is carried out on the error modeling and compensation of a novel six-degrees-of-freedom(6-DOF)docking equipment for aeroengine rotors.First,a new model for indicating the main indexes of docking accuracy is proposed.Then,the error model of a specially designed 6-DOF docking equipment is established based on a modified Denavit Hartenberg method with five parameters.Subsequently,two error compensation methods are proposed.Based on the above models,a docking accuracy simulation algorithm is proposed using the Monte Carlo method.Finally,verification experiments are conducted.The results show that,for the maximum values and standard deviations of the gaps between the rotor end-faces in the actual and target positions and attitudes,i.e.,main indexes that represent docking accuracy,the deviation rates between the simulation and experimental results are less than20%.The modeling methods have referential significance.The decline rates of these values are 50–65%when using the two proposed compensation methods.The compensation methods significantly improve the docking accuracy. | Tianyi ZHOU Hang GAO Xuanping WANG Lun LI Qing LIU | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,6: | 2 |
