| 1 | Recent advancements in graphene adsorbents for wastewater treatment:Current status and challenges显示文摘From emerging pollutants to emerged threat,researchers are continuously looking for promising technologies for wastewater treatment.Adsorption has been identified as the most convenient approach for treating wastewater at low-cost and with high-efficiency.Recently,graphene and its derivatives have gained heightened attention as novel adsorbents because of their unique molecular structure and outstanding physicochemical properties.Heavy metals,dyes,polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and other pollutants,which are widely concerned recently,all show different adsorption behaviors.Numerous functional groups,resonating and delocalizedπ-electron system of graphene derivatives lead to the formation of various adsorptive interactions i.e.,π-πinteractions,electrostatic interactions,Hbonding,etc.with these venomous pollutants,and quarantine them in solution.The pristine form of graphene subsidiaries tends to exhibit low sorption efficiency due to high propensity of agglomeration,lack of selectivity,hydrophobicity and difficulty in phase separation a fter treatment.Therefore,designing of efficient graphene composites through the surface modification with numerous functional groups,polymers or nanoparticles is an ongoing challenge.Complex graphene composites are increasingly reported,but the fate of pollutants and adsorption mechanisms are still far to be fully clarified.This review summarizes the recent progresses in the application of graphene-based adsorbents for eliminating a wide range of organic and inorganic pollutants from wastewater.A critical explanation is provided on the synthesis of graphene adsorbents,systematic adsorption and desorption mechanisms along with their pollutant removal performances under different experimental conditions.A brief perspective on upcoming research needs and challenges involved in the designing of high-quality graphene-based adsorbents are highlighted. | MD Faysal Hossain Nasrin Akther Yanbo Zhou | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10: | 6 |
| 2 | The predictive value of triglyceride-glucose index for in-hospital and one-year mortality in elderly non-diabetic patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND Triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index,a reliable marker of insulin resistance,was associated with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of TyG index for mortality in elderly non-diabetic pa-tients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI).METHODS In total,430 non-diabetic patients aged over 65 years with STEMI were consecutively included.The TyG index was calculated by using the following formula:TyG index=ln(fasting triglyceride×fasting glucose/2).The 5-item modified frailty index score was utilized to determine comorbidities.Patients were divided into three groups based on TyG index tertiles.RESULTS Patients included into high TyG index tertile were male and had higher body mass index,glucose,triglyceride,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,5-item modified frailty index and GRACE risk score;and had low systolic blood pressure,estim-ated glomerular filtration rate and left ventricular ejection fraction.A one-unit increase in TyG index was associated with 3.03 ex-tra cases per 1000 person-day for in-hospital mortality and 0.29 extra cases per 1000 person-day for long-term mortality.There was a non-linear relationship between TyG index and the risk of mortality with an increased risk above 8.5 for TyG index.Kaplan-Meier survival curves revealed that patients in high TyG index tertile had higher in-hospital and long-term mortality rates than those in low TyG index tertile.CONCLUSIONS This was the first study to demonstrate that the TyG index could predict in-hospital and long-term mortality in elderly non-diabetic STEMI patients. | FaysalŞaylık TufanÇınar Murat Selçuk İbrahim Halil Tanboğa | 2022 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,8: | 3 |
| 3 | Acid-treated Fe-doped TiO2 as a high performance photocatalyst used for degradation of phenol under visible light irradiation显示文摘The photocatalytic activity of Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles is significantly increased by an acid-treatment process. The photocatalyst nanoparticles were prepared using sol–gel method with 0.5 mol% ratio of Fe:Ti in acidic pH of 3. The nanoparticles were structurally characterized by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS). It was observed that the photocatalytic activity suffered from an iron oxide contaminating layer deposited on the surface of the nanoparticles. This contamination layer was removed using an HCl acidtreatment process. The photocatalytic activity using 500 mg/L of Fe0.5-TiO2 in a 10 mg/L of phenol solution increased significantly from 33% to 57%(about 73% increase in the performance), within 90 min of reaction time under visible light irradiation. This significant improvement was achieved by removing the iron oxide contamination layer from the surface of the nanoparticles and adjusting p H to mild acidic and basic pHs. | Vahid Moradi Faysal Ahmed Martin B.G.
