3Effects of soaking process on arsenic and other mineral elements in brown rice显示文摘One of the main food crops in the world,rice can accumulate high levels of arsenic from flooded paddy soils,which seriously threatens human health.Soaking,a common processing method for brown rice products,especially for brown rice noodles,was investigated in this study.Japonica rice(Dao Hua Xiang No.2)and Indica rice(Ye Xiang You No.3)were selected for studying the effects of soaking on arsenic concentrations,species,and distributions.Results revealed that soaking can efficiently remove arsenic in these two rice varieties,and the main part of removal is endosperm with the maximal rate of about 40%.Inorganic arsenic(I-As)(about 85%)is the main species of arsenic reduction.Meanwhile,the variations of four other elements(i.e.,Mg,Ca,Zn,and Fe)were analyzed.Collectively,the findings of this study indicate that soaking can efficiently remove arsenic in brown rice under controlled soaking conditions,which thereby reduces the arsenic intake for brown rice customers.Fan Zhang Fengying Gu Huili Yan Zhenyan He Bolun Wang Hao Liu Tingting Yang Feng Wang 2020Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,2:5
4Distribution and their pollution assessment of heavy metals in the sediments of the Yalu River Estuary and its adjacent coastal waters显示文摘The present paper deals with the distribution patterns of heavy metals and the associated influencing factors in the Yalu River Estuary and its adjacent coastal waters.Based upon the analysis of the surficial and core sediments measurements,the pollution of heavy metal and potential ecological risk were evaluated.The burial flux and contents of heavy metals(except for copper) have been continuously increasing since the 1920s.Therefore,the gross potential ecological risk for the sedi-ments was high or very high,and the study area was endangered by heavy metals contamination.Heavy metals originated mainly from upstream pollutant input,correlation analysis showed that chromium,nickel,zinc,cadmium,lead,arsenic,and mercury in the sediments of the middle and west channels as well as the sea area of the western Yalu River Estuary concentrations were most probably derived from similar sources.In contrast,the metal of copper most probably originated from sources different from the other metals.Preliminary studies indicate that copper contamination was most likely the result of emission from mining activities situated at the upstream of the river.The contents of heavy metals in the sediments of estuarine turbidity maximum zone of Yalu River were larger than those of any other areas in the middle channel.With large portion of fine sediments,weaker hydrodynamics,and richer sources of heavy metals,the sediments of the west channel,were even more enriched with heavy metals than those of the middle channel.GAO Jianhua LI Jun Wang Harry V WANG Yaping WANG Zhenyan BAI Fenglong GAO Shu CHENG Yan 2009Acta Oceanologica Sinica2009,28,6:4
5Dietary Leucine Requirement for Juvenile Large Yellow Croaker Pseudosciaena crocea (Richardson,1846)显示文摘Dietary leucine requirement for juvenile large yellow croaker, Pseudosciaena crocea Richardson 1846 (initial body weight 6.0 g±0.1 g) was determined using dose-response method.Six isonitogenous (crude protein 43%) and isoenergetic (19 kJ g-1) practical diets containing six levels of leucine (Diets 1-6) ranging from 1.23% to 4.80% (dry matter) were made at about 0.7% increment of leucine.Equal amino acid nitrogen was maintained by replacing leucine with glutamic acid.Triplicate groups of 60 individuals were fed to apparent satiation by hand twice daily (05:00 and 17:30).The water temperature was 26-32℃, salinity 26-30 and dissolved oxygen approximately 7 mg L-1 during the experimental period.Final weight (FW) of large yellow croaker initially increased with increasing level of dietary leucine but then decreased at further higher level of leucine.The highest FW was obtained in fish fed diet with 3.30% Leucine (Diet 4).FW of fish fed the diet with 4.80% Leucine (Diet 6) was significantly lower than those fed Diet 4.However, no significant differences were observed between the other dietary treatments.Feed efficiency (FE) and whole body composition were independent of dietary leucine contents (P>0.05).The results indicated that leucine was essential for growth of juvenile large yellow croaker.On the basis of FW, the optimum dietary leucine requirement for juvenile large yellow croaker was estimated to be 2.92% of dry matter (6.79% of dietary protein).LI Yan AI Qinghui MAI Kangsen XU Wei CHENG Zhenyan HE Zhigang 2010Journal of Ocean University of China2010,9,4:4
6Properties of coarse particles in suspended particulate matter of the North Yellow Sea during summer显示文摘Fine particles in seawater commonly form large porous aggregates. Aggregate density and settling velocity determine the behavior of this suspended particulate matter(SPM) within the water column.However, few studies of aggregate particles over a continental shelf have been undertaken. In our case study, properties of aggregate particles, including size and composition, over the continental shelf of the North Yellow Sea were investigated. During a scienti?c cruise in July 2016, in situ ef fective particle size distributions of SPM at 10 stations were measured, while temperature and turbidity measurements and samples of water were obtained from surface, middle, and bottom layers. Dispersed and inorganic particle size distributions were determined in the laboratory. The in situ SPM was divided into(1) small particles(<32 μm),(2) medium particles(32–256 μm) and(3) large particles(>256 μm). Large particles and medium particles dominated the total volume concentrations(VCs) of in situ SPM. After dispersion, the VCs of medium particles decreased to low values(<0.1 μL/L). The VCs of large particles in the surface and middle layers also decreased markedly, although they had higher peak values(0.1–1 μL/L). This suggests that almost all in situ medium particles and some large particles were aggregated, while other large particles were single particles. Correlation analysis showed that primary particles <32 μm in?uenced the formation of these aggregates. Microscopic examination revealed that these aggregates consisted of both organic and inorganic ?ne particles, while large particles were mucus-bound organic aggregates or individual plankton.The vertical distribution of coarser particles was clearly related to water strati?cation. Generally, medium aggregate particles were dominant in SPM of the bottom layer. 7Dietary Leucine Requirement of Juvenile Japanese Seabass(Lateolabrax Japonicus)显示文摘A 56-day feeding trial was conducted to examine the dietary leucine requirement of juvenile Japanese seabass in seawater floating net cages(1.5 m × 1.5 m × 2.0 m). Six isonitrogenous(crude protein 40%) and isoenergetic(gross energy 20 k J g-1) diets were formulated to contain different concentrations of leucine(0.9%, 1.49%, 2.07%, 2.70%, 3.30% and 3.88% of dry matter). Crystalline L-amino acids were supplemented to simulate the whole body amino acid pattern of Japanese seabass except for leucine. Three groups(30 fish individuals each, 8.0 g ± 0.20 g in initial weight) were fed to apparent satiation at 5:00 and 17:30 every day. During the experimental period, the water temperature ranged from 26 to 32℃ and salinity from 26 to 30, and the dissolved oxygen was maintained at 7 mg L-1. The results showed that weight gain(WG), nitrogen retention(NR), feed efficiency(FE) and protein efficiency ratio(PER) were significantly increased when dietary leucine was increased from 0.90% to 2.70% of dry matter, and then declined. WG was the highest when fish were fed D4 containing 2.70% of leucine. No significant differences were observed in body composition among dietary treatments(P > 0.05). 8Effects of imazethapyr spraying on plant growth and leaf surface microbial communities in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Imazethapyr (IM) is an acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicide that has been widely used in recent years.However,IM spraying can lead to the accumulation of herbicide residues in leaves.Here,we determined the effects of IM spraying on the plant growth and leaf surface microbial communities of Arabidopsis thaliana after 7 and 14 days of exposure.The results suggested that IM spraying inhibited plant growth.Fresh weight decreased to 48% and 26% of the control value after 7 and 14 days,respectively,of 0.035 kg/ha IM exposure.In addition,anthocyanin content increased 9.2-fold and 37.2-fold relative to the control content after 7 and 14 days of treatment,respectively.Furthermore,IM spraying destroyed the cell structures of the leaves,as evidenced by increases in the number of starch granules and the stomatal closure rate.Reductions in photosynthetic efficiency and antioxidant enzyme activity were observed after IM spraying,especially after 14 days of exposure.The diversity and evenness of the leaf microbiota were not affected by IM treatment,but the composition of community structure at the genus level was altered by IM spraying.Imazethapyr application increased the abundance of Pseudomonas,a genus that includes species pathogenic to plants and humans,indicating that IM potentially increased the abundance of pathogenic bacteria on leaves.Our findings increase our understanding of the relationships between herbicide application and the microbial community structures on plant leaves,and they provide a new perspective for studying the ecological safety of herbicide usage.Wanyue Liu Mingjing Ke Zhenyan Zhang Tao Lu Youchao Zhu Yan Li Xiangliang Pan Haifeng Qian 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,11:2
9Experimental study on the local similarity scaling of the turbulence spectrum in the turbulent boundary layer显示文摘The streamwise fluctuating velocity in the turbulent boundary layer is measured under approximately medium Reynolds Number by hot wire in order to investigate the scaling properties of the overlapped turbulent spectrum among energy-containing area, inertial subrange and dissipation range based on FFT analysis. The experiment indicates that the high Reynolds flow reported before is not indispensable to produce -1 scaling. So far as the measured position is provided with much higher spatial resolution and enough closing to the wall, -1 scaling is determinate to exist when approaching medium Reynolds. The scaling ranges are supposed to begin at inner scale and end in outer scale, which reveals the local similarity of the energy spectrum over the energy-containing eddies near the wall. In the logarithmic area (y+ > 130), -5/3 scaling occurs in the energy spectrum, while moving away from the wall with Reynolds numbers increasing, the inertial subrange extends to the lower wavenumbers. 17Assessment of residual chlorine in soil microbial community using metagenomics显示文摘Chlorine-containing disinfectants have been widely used around the world for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.However,at present,little is known about the impact of residual chlorine on the soil micro-ecological environment.Herein,we treated an experimental soil-plant-microbiome microcosm system by continuous irrigation with a low concentration of chlorine-containing water,and then analyzed the influence on the soil microbial community using metagenomics.After 14-d continuous chlorine treatment,there were no significant lasting effect on soil microbial community diversity and composition either in the rhizosphere or in bulk soil.Although metabolic functions of the rhizosphere microbial community were affected slightly by continuous chlorine treatment,it recovered to the original status.The abundance of several resistance genes changed by 7 d and recovered by 14 d.According to our results,the chlorine residue resulting from daily disinfection may present a slight long-term effect on plant growth(shoot length and fresh weight)and soil micro-ecology.In general,our study assisted with environmental risk assessments relating to the application of chlorine-containing disinfectants and minimization of risks to the environment during disease control,such as COVID-19.Yitian Yu Qi Zhang Zhenyan Zhang Nuohan Xu Yan Li Mingkang Jin Guoqiang Feng Haifeng Qian Tao Lu 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,1:0
