Traditional mortar represented by sticky rice lime mortar——One of the great inventions in ancient China显示文摘The development of traditional lime-based bond in ancient times was reviewed in this paper. It was proved by a lot of historical data that the application of organic materials in inorganic mortar was a sharp-cut characteristic during the developing process of construction gelled materials in ancient China. The important role sticky rice mortar ever played and the historical significance were revealed.Due to the excellent performance, such as high adhesive strength, good toughness,water-proof and so on,traditional mortar represented by sticky rice mortar should be one of the greatest technological contributions of the day in the world.Modern technology was employed in the study of the sticky rice lime mortar and the researching results of our laboratory and some researchers, including the compo-sition and the mechanism of solidification, were also presented. It was found that the sticky rice acted as a matrix of bio-mineralization which affected the microstructure of the calcium carbonate crystal and there was cooperation between sticky rice and calcite produced during the solidifying of the sticky rice mortar, which maybe lead to the excellent performance of the mortar.Because of excellent performance and importance in science, sticky rice mortar can be regarded as one of the greatest inventions in construction history of China.Relative research of sticky mortar will be of importance for the exploring of ancient momentous invention and the repairing of ancient construction.YANG FuWei ZHANG BingJian PAN ChangChu ZENG YuYao 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,6:7
Exposure to dibutyl phthalate impairs lipid metabolism and causes inflammation via disturbing microbiota-related gut-liver axis显示文摘Dibutyl phthalate(DBP),a kind of typical environm ental pollutant,is widely used as plasticizers, and its neurotoxicity and developm ental toxicity have been found in recent years. However, whether oral DBP exposure w ill affect the homeostasis of gut m icrobiota and its adverse response in liver of m am m alians remain unclear. In the present study,10-week experimental cycles of vehicle or DBP(0.1 and 1mg/kg)were given to 6-week-old C57BL/6J mice by oral gavage. Our results revealed that the body weight of mice was increased after exposure to both low and high doses of DBP.The serum levels of hepatic triglyceride and total cholesterol were significantly increased in response to both doses of DBP.In addition, some pivotal genes related to lipogenesis were also increased in liver at the mRNA level.Evaluation of gut m icrobiota by 16S rRNA sequencing technology showed that 0.1 mg/kg DBP exposure significantly affected gut microbiota at the phylum and genus levels. Moreover,DBP exposure decreased mucus secretion and caused inflam m ation in the gut, leading to the im pairm ent of intestinal barrier function.Exposure to OBP inhibited the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-y and activated the expression of nuclear factor kappa B.In addition,DBP exposure increased the level of lipopolysaccharide in serum, and increased the expression of toll-like receptor 4 and the levels of inflam m atory cytokines, such as interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,and tumor necrosis factor alpha,in the liver. These results indicated that exposure to DBP disturbed the homeostasis of gut m icrobiota, induced hepatic lipid m etabolism disorder, and caused liver inflam mation in mice via the related gut-liver axis signaling pathways.Ze Xiong Yuyao Zeng Jiafeng Zhou Ruonan Shu Xiaoxian Xie Zhengwei Fu 2020Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,12:2

Continuous-variable quantum key distribution with on-chip light sources显示文摘Integrated quantum key distribution(QKD)systems based on photonic chips have high scalability and stability, and are promising for further construction of global quantum communications networks.On-chip quantum light sources are a critical component of a fully integrated QKD system;especially a continuous-variable QKD(CVQKD)system based on coherent detection, which has extremely high requirements for the light sources. Here, for what we believe is the first time,we designed and fabricated two on-chip tunable lasers for CV-QKD,and demonstrated a high-performance system based on these sources.Because of the high output power, fine tunability, and narrow linewidth, the involved on-chip lasers guarantee the accurate shot-noise-limited detection of quantum signals, center wavelength alignment of nonhomologous lasers, and suppression of untrusted excess noise. The system’s secret key rate can reach 0.75 Mb/s at a 50 km fiber distance, and the secure transmission distance can exceed 100 km.Our results mark a breakthrough toward building a fully integrated CV-QKD,and pave the way for a reliable and efficient terrestrial quantum-secure metropolitan area network.LANG LI TAO WANG XINHANG LI PENG HUANG YUYAO GUO LIANGJUN LU LINJIE ZHOU GUIHUA ZENG 2023Photonics Research2023,11,4:0
Oscillation-specific nodal alterations in early to middle stages Parkinson’s disease显示文摘Background:Different oscillations of brain networks could carry different dimensions of brain integration. We aimed to investigate oscillation-specific nodal alterations in patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD)across early stage to middle stage by using graph theory-based analysis.Methods:Eighty-eight PD patients including 39 PD patients in the early stage(EPD)and 49 patients in the middle stage(MPD)and 36 controls were recruited in the present study.Graph theory-based network analyses from three oscillation frequencies(slow-5:0.01–0.027 Hz;slow-4:0.027–0.073 Hz;slow-3:0.073–0.198 Hz)were analyzed.Nodal metrics(e.g.nodal degree centrality, betweenness centrality and nodal efficiency)were calculated. Results:Our results showed that(1)a divergent effect of oscillation frequencies on nodal metrics, especially on nodal degree centrality and nodal efficiency, that the anteroventral neocortex and subcortex had high nodal metrics within low oscillation frequencies while the posterolateral neocortex had high values within the relative high oscillation frequency was observed, which visually showed that network was perturbed in PD;(2)PD patients in early stage relatively preserved nodal properties while MPD patients showed widespread abnormalities, which was consistently detected within all three oscillation frequencies;(3)the involvement of basal ganglia could be specifically observed within slow-5 oscillation frequency in MPD patients;(4)logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses demonstrated that some of those oscillation-specific nodal alterations had the ability to well discriminate PD patients from controls or MPD from EPD patients at the individual level;(5)occipital disruption within high frequency(slow-3)made a significant influence on motor impairment which was dominated by akinesia and rigidity. Conclusions:Coupling various oscillations could provide potentially useful information for large-scale network and progressive oscillation-specific nodal alterations were observed in PD patients across early to middle stages.Xiaojun Guan Tao Guo Qiaoling Zeng Jiaqiu Wang Cheng Zhou Chunlei Liu Hongjiang Wei Yuyao Zhang Min Xuan Quanquan Gu Xiaojun Xu Peiyu Huang Jiali Pu Baorong Zhang Min-Ming Zhang 2019Translational Neurodegeneration2019,8,1:0
Deformation mechanism of commercially pure titanium under biaxial loading at ambient and elevated temperatures显示文摘Commercially pure(CP)titanium is thermally processed and subjected to biaxial stress. However, the evolution of the microstructural deformation mechanisms under such circumstances is not adequately understood. In this study, the mechanical responses and microstructural deformation mechanisms of TA2 CP titanium sheets under equi-biaxial loading at room temperature(RT),300℃,and 400℃were studied. The activated slip and twinning systems were investigated by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)after polished cruciform specimens were biaxially tensile-tested at RT and elevated temperatures. The results show that{11¯22}contraction twinning and{10¯12}extension twinning are the main deforma-tion mechanisms of RT biaxial deformation, while dislocation glide is predominant in biaxial deformation at 300℃and 400℃.This difference yields varied work-hardening behaviors at RT and elevated tem-peratures.In biaxial deformation at 400℃,the main slip trace type is multiple slip. The interaction of different slip systems in multiple slip created shear deformation concentration areas and further induced cross-slip.However,in biaxial deformation at 300℃,the amounts of simplex and multiple slip were significantly reduced compared to those at 400℃because the lower temperature increased the critical resolved shear stress and insufficient activated slip systems were available for grain deformation.There-fore,several stress-concentration areas were generated with the activation of cross-slip.Yuanjie Fu Yao Cheng Yun Cui Yunchang Xin Yuyao Zeng Xiao Liu Gang Chen 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,31:0
Temperature-driven phase transformation and element segregation in Pd-Ru immiscible alloy nanoparticles:Spatial resolving of elements and insights for electrocatalysis显示文摘Bimetallic alloys could form three typical structures including solid solution, heterostructure, and intermetallic compound, depending on the interactions between identical and different atoms.Although the trend can be predicted by the types of binary phase diagram, different synthetic protocols will trap the system in various kinetic intermediates among the three typical structures.Herein,we studied the phase evolution and elemental segregation in the alloy nanoparticles of immiscible Pd-Ru before and after thermal annealing.By developing an analysis method of local element segregation(LES)based on the energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)mapping signals,we were able to quantify the mixing of Pd and Ru atoms during the gradual phase transition from face-centered cubic(fcc)to hexagonal close packed(hcp).Density functional theory was also applied to calculate the energies of all possible PdRu4 structures(93 fcc models and 267 hcp models),which helps to rationalize the phase transition and element segregation. The annealing process also leads to the change of the electronic structure, which further influences the performance in the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction. The highest activity of PdRu4-400 was largely attributed to the proper interface between the Pd-rich fcc phase and Ru-rich hcp phase,as revolved by the above methods.Hui Li Zheng Hu Yu Zhang Wenbo Zhao Yuyao Zeng Wei Zhou Shi Hu 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0
