6Laboratory Evaluation of Fiber-Modified Asphalt Mixtures Incorporating Steel Slag Aggregates显示文摘Vigorous and continued efforts by researchers and engineers have contributed towards maintaining environmental sustainability through the utilization of waste materials in civil engineering applications as an alternative to natural sources.In this study,granite aggregates in asphaltic mixes were replaced by electric arc furnace(EAF)steel slag aggregates with different proportions to identify the best combination in terms of superior performance.Asphalt mixtures showing the best performance were further reinforced with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA),acrylic,and polyester fibers at the dosages of 0.05%,0.15%,and 0.3%by weight of the aggregates.The performance tests of this study were resilient modulus,moisture susceptibility,and indirect tensile fatigue cracking test.The findings of this study revealed that the asphalt mixtures containing coarse steel slag aggregate exhibited the best performance in comparison with the other substitutions.Moreover,the reinforced asphalt mixtures with synthetic fibers at the content of 0.05%exhibited an almost comparable performance to the unreinforced asphalt mixtures.Modifying the asphalt mixtures with PVA,acrylic,and polyester fibers at the proportion of 0.15%have improved the fatigue cracking resistance by 41.13%,29.87%,and 18.97%,respectively.Also,the fiber-modified asphalt mixtures with PVA,acrylic,and polyester have enhanced the fatigue cracking resistance by about 57%,44%,and 39%,respectively.The results of the resilient modulus demonstrated that as the fiber content increase,the resilient modulus of the reinforced asphalt mixtures decreases.Therefore,introducing synthetic fibers at the content of 0.3%has slightly decreased the resilient modulus in comparison with unreinforced mixtures.On the other hand,the results of the mechanisticempirical pavement design showed that the reinforced asphalt mixes with a high content of synthetic fibers have shown lower service life than the control mixes due to the low resilient modulus.On the contrary,based on the laboratory results,the asphalt mixes incorporating PVA,acrylic,and polyester fibers at the proportion of 0.15%have shown the potential to reduce the thickness of the asphalt layer by about 14.9%,11.80%,and 8.70%,respectively.Adham Mohammed Alnadish Mohamad Yusri Aman Herda Yati Binti Katman Mohd Rasdan Ibrahim 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:1

10Isolation and identification of an isomeric sildenafil analogue as an adulterant in an instant coffee premix显示文摘The proliferation of adulterated health foods and beverages in the market demands a comprehensive analytical strategy to identify the adulterants,particularly those of isomeric phosphodiesterase 5(PDE5)inhibitors.An instant coffee premix(ICP)purchased from an online retailer was flagged for suspected adulteration through PDE5 inhibition assay.The ICP was then analysed using suspected-target and non-targeted screenings of a liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry.Based on these findings,a PDE5 inhibitor initially assigned as compound X was isolated from the ICP by employing a liquid chromatography-diode array detection before its structural elucidation with liquid chromatography-ultraviolet(LC-UV)spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy.The suspected-target screening matched the protonated molecule([MþH]þ)precursor ion of compound X at m/z 499.2310 with two suspected analytes that are structural isomers of one another.The fragmentation patterns of compound X were comparable to those analogues in the dithiocarbodenafil group through the non-targeted screening.These findings,complemented by the LC-UV and NMR spectroscopy data,together with the chromatographic separation of related structural isomers,conclude the identity of compound X.To our best knowledge,this is the first study to report the presence of 3,5-dimethylpiperazinyl-dithiodesmethylcarbodenafil in an ICP sample.Ahmad Yusri Mohd Yusop Linda Xiao Shanlin Fu 2022Forensic Sciences Research2022,7,2:0

13Nasal airflow of patient with septal deviation and allergy rhinitis显示文摘A numerical simulation of a patient’s nasal airflow was developed via computational fluid dynamics.Accordingly,computerized tomography scans of a patient with septal deviation and allergic rhinitis were obtained.The three-dimensional(3D)nasal model was designed using InVesalius 3.0,which was then imported to(computer aided 3D interactive application)CATIA V5 for modification,and finally to analysis system(ANSYS)flow oriented logistics upgrade for enterprise networks(FLUENT)to obtain the numerical solution.The velocity contours of the cross-sectional area were analyzed on four main surfaces:the vestibule,nasal valve,middle turbinate,and nasopharynx.The pressure and velocity characteristics were assessed at both laminar and turbulent mass flow rates for both the standardized and the patient’s model nasal cavity.The developed model of the patient is approximately half the size of the standardized model;hence,its velocity was approximately two times more than that of the standardized model.Zi Fen Lim Parvathy Rajendran Muhamad Yusri Musa Chih Fang Lee 2021Visual Computing for Industry,Biomedicine,and Art2021,4,1:0
