| 1 | Progressive paradoxical sleep deprivation impairs partial memory following learning tasks in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Complex learning tasks result in a greater number of paradoxical sleep phases, which can improve memory. The effect of paradoxical sleep deprivation, induced by 'flower pot' technique, on spatial reference memory and working memory require further research. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of progressive paradoxical sleep deprivation in rats, subsequent to learning, on memory using the Morris Water Maze. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Controlled observation experiment. The experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Neurobiology, Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Lanzhou University from December 2006 to October 2007. MATERIALS: Twenty-eight, male, Wistar rats, 3-4 months old, were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of Lanzhou University. The Morris Water Maze and behavioral analyses system was purchased from Genheart Company, Beijing, China. METHODS: All animals, according to a random digits table, were randomly divided into paradoxical sleep deprivation, tank control, and home cage control groups. Paradoxical sleep deprivation was induced by the 'flower pot' technique for 72 hours, housing the rats on small platforms over water. Rats in the 'tank control' and 'home cage control' groups were housed either in a tank with large platforms over the water or in normal cages without paradoxical sleep deprivation. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Morris Water Maze was employed for task learning and spatial memory testing. Rats in all groups were placed at six random starting points each day for four consecutive days. Each placement was repeated for two trials; the first trial represented reference memory and the second working memory. Rats in the first trial were allowed to locate the submerged platform within 120 seconds. Data, including swimming distance, escape latency, swimming velocity, percentage of time in correct quarter, and memory scores were recorded and analyzed automatically by behavioral analyses systems for Morris Water Maze. RESULTS: Twenty-eight rats were included in the final analysis, without any loss. In the first trial, between day 2 and 4, escape latency and swimming distance increased significantly in the paradoxical sleep deprivation group compared to the home cage control and tank control groups (P < 0.01); percentage of time in correct quarter and memory scores, however, decreased in the paradoxical sleep deprivation group compared to the home cage control and tank control groups (P < 0.01). The escape latency, swimming distance, percentage of time in correct quarter, and memory scores in the second trial was not significantly different among the three groups (P > 0.05). | 2 | Pyridinic nitrogen enriched porous carbon derived from bimetal organic frameworks for high capacity zinc ion hybrid capacitors with remarkable rate capability显示文摘Aqueous zinc ion hybrid capacitors(ZIHCs)hold great potential for large-scale energy storage applications owing to their high safety and low cost,but suffer from low capacity and energy density.Herein,pyridinic nitrogen enriched porous carbon(nPC)was successfully synthesized via the growth,subsequent annealing and acid etching of bimetal organic frameworks for high capacity and safe ZIHCs with exceptional rate capability.Benefiting from the mesopores for easy ion diffusion,high electrical conductivity enabled by in-situ grown carbon nanotubes matrix and residual metal Co nanoparticles for fast electron transfer,sufficient micropores and high N content(8.9 at%)with dominated pyridinic N(54%)for enhanced zinc ion storage,the resulting nPC cathodes for ZIHCs achieved high capacities of 302 and137 m Ah g^(-1) at 1 and 18 A g^(-1),outperforming most reported carbon based cathodes.Theoretical results further disclosed that pyridinic N possessed larger binding energy of-4.99 eV to chemically coordinate with Zn2+than other N species.Moreover,quasi-solid-state ZIHCs with gelatin based gel electrolytes exhibited high energy density of 157.6 Wh kg^(-1) at 0.69 kW kg^(-1),high safety and mechanical flexibility to withstand mechanical deformation and drilling.This strategy of developing pyridinic nitrogen enriched porous carbon will pave a new avenue to construct safe ZIHCs with high energy densities. | Yao Li Pengfei Lu Ping Shang Lisha Wu Xiao Wang Yanfeng Dong Ronghuan He Zhong-Shuai Wu | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5: | 3 |

These complexes also represent major antigenic targets for anti-viral immune responses. The gC II complex consists of two glycoproteins, gM and gN. In the current study, DNA vaccines expressing the murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) homologs of the gM and gN proteins were evaluated for protection against lethal MCMV infection in a mouse model. Humoral and cellular immune responses, spleen viral titers, and mice survival and body-weight changes were examined. The results showed that immunization with gM or gN DNA vaccine alone was not able to offer good protection, whereas co-immunization with both gM and gN induced an effective neutralizing antibody response and cellular immune response, and provided mice with complete protection against a lethal MCMV challenge. | 15 | Synergetic process between wind power and sewage sludge pyrolysis in a novel renewable-energy microgrid system显示文摘To relieve the stress of sewage sludge(SS)disposal and effectively increase the use of renewable energy,a novel renewable-energy microgrid system(REMS)was developed,specifically designed to integrate a wind power plant(WPP)with energy storage and the SS pyrolysis process for heat and power generation.Based on a lab-scale pyrolysis experiment and 7-day numerical analysis,we studied the energy-recycling potential of SS and simulated the operational behaviours of REMS.According to the results,the calorific values of the pyrolytic gaseous and liquid products were better than those of the raw material,at 16.19 and 33.53 MJ/kg,respectively.The proposed REMS performed well in power supply and energy utilization with a design performance index of 99.23 when the WPP capacity was 200 MWe and the initial wind-energy curtailment rate was 30%.It indicates that by converting SS into flammable gas,condensable liquid and carbon-rich solid residue,curtailed wind energy could be saved and the synergy between wind power and the SS pyrolysis process enabled the proposed microgrid system to effectively utilize renewable energy and provide reliable on-demand power service.The REMS installed with a 155-MWe WPP achieved the optimal design in system performance,environmental benefit and construction cost under the initial wind-curtailment rate of 34.12%.The design scheme makes REMS capable of satisfying the 15.10-GWh power demand of end users and the 1700-t/day SS disposal need,and the curtailed wind energy could be reduced to zero. | Chang Liu Jiankun Zhuo Yanfeng He Shuiqing Li Qiang Yao | 2023 | Clean Energy2023,7,3: | 0 |

| 18 | High-speed flexible near-infrared organic photodiode for optical communication显示文摘Optical communication is a particularly compelling technology for tackling the speed and capacity bottlenecks in data communication in modern society.Currently,the silicon photodetector plays a dominant role in high-speed optical communication across the visible-near-infrared spectrum.However,its intrinsic rigid structure,high working bias and low responsivity essentially limit its application in next-generation flexible optoelectronic devices.Herein,we report a narrow-bandgap non-fullerene acceptor(NFA)with a remarkableπ-extension in the direction of both central and end units(CH17)with respect to the Y6 series,which demonstrates a more effective and compact 3D molecular packing,leading to lower trap states and energetic disorders in the photoactive film.Consequently,the optimized solution-processed organic photodetector(OPD)with CH17 exhibits a remarkable response time of 91 ns(λ=880 nm)due to the high charge mobility and low parasitic capacitance,exceeding the values of most commercial Si photodiodes and all NFA-based OPDs operating in self-powered mode.More significantly,the flexible OPD exhibits negligible performance attenuation(<1%)after bending for 500 cycles,and maintains 96% of its initial performance even after 550 h of indoor exposure.Furthermore,the high-speed OPD demonstrates a high data transmission rate of 80 MHz with a bit error rate of 3.5×10^(-4),meaning it has great potential in next-generation high-speed flexible optical communication systems. | Yu Zhu Hongbin Chen Ruiman Han Hao Qin Zhaoyang Yao Hang Liu Yanfeng Ma Xiangjian Wan Guanghui Li Yongsheng Chen | 2024 | National Science Review2024,11,3: | 0 |
