| 3 | Finite element simulation and experimental test of the wear behavior for self-lubricating spherical plain bearings显示文摘In this study, based on the classical Archard adhesion wear theory, a three-dimensional finite element model was established, with the aim of simulating the failure process of self-lubricating spherical plain bearings in the swinging wear condition. The results show that the self-lubricating spherical plain bearings go through two different stages during the wear process, namely, initial wear stage and stable wear stage. Because the large contact points wear out during the initial wear stage, the maximum contact pressure decreases as the test period increases. The relatively larger wear depth region shows elliptical distribution, and the maximum distribution appears in the central contact area. The wear depth reaches 0.974 mm after swinging 25,000 times. PTFE fibers, which possess a good friction performance but poor abrasion resistance, abundantly exist on the friction surfaces of the fabric liner. Consequently, the friction torque during the initial wear stage is slightly smaller than the friction torque during the stable wear stage; however, the wear rate during the initial wear stage is high. The reliability and effectiveness of the finite element model are verified by experiment. | 4 | Responses of Soil Microbial Community Structure and Activity to Incorporation of Straws and Straw Biochars and Their Effects on Soil Respiration and Soil Organic Carbon Turnover显示文摘Like straw, biochar incorporation can influence soil microorganisms and enzyme activities and soil carbon(C) responses;however,few studies have compared the various effects of straw and biochar and the underlying mechanisms. An experiment was performed to study the changes in soil respiration(SR) and soil organic C(SOC) fluxes in response to the incorporation of three kinds of straw(reed, smooth cordgrass, and rice) and their pyrolyzed products(biochars) at Chongming Island, China. In addition, the microbial activity and community structure of some amended soils were also analyzed to clarify the mechanisms of these responses. The results showed that all biochar incorporation(BC) induced lower SR than the corresponding unpyrolyzed straw incorporation(ST), and the average SR in the soils following BC and ST during the experimental periods was 21.69 and 65.32 μmol CO2 m^-2s^-1, respectively.Furthermore, the average SOC content was 16.97 g kg-1 following BC, which was higher than that(13.71 g kg-1) following ST,indicating that compared to ST, BC was a low-C strategy, even after accounting for the C loss during biochar production. Among the BC treatments, reed-BC induced the lowest SR(17.04 μmol CO2 m^-2s^-1), whereas smooth cordgrass-BC induced the highest SR(27.02 μmol CO2 m^-2s^-1). Furthermore, in contrast with ST, BC significantly increased the abundance of some bacteria with poorer mineralization or better humification ability, which led to lower SR. The lower easily oxidizable C(EOC) and higher total C contents of biochars induced lower SR and higher SOC in the soil following BC compared to that following ST. | 6 | Biocompatibility studies of silk fibroin-based artificial nerve grafts in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Silk fibroin(SF)has been used extensively in the biomedical field including tissue engineering for the generation of artificial bones,skins or ligaments.We have previously reported on good in vitro biocompatibility of SF fibers with peripheral nerve tissues and cells.In the present study,we developed a novel design of the SF-based artificial nerve graft(SF graft)which was composed of a SF-nerve guidance conduit(NGC)inserted with SF fibers.MTT assay was performed to determine the cytotoxicity of the SF-NGC extract fluid on the cultured L929 cells derived from an immortalized mouse fibroblast cell line.In addition,this SF graft was implanted into adult rats for bridging a 10-mm long sciatic nerve defect.The following-up experiments at initial stage(1-4 week)of nerve regeneration including routine blood tests and histochemical investigation were conducted to evaluate the in vivo biocompatibility of the SF graft with peripheral nerves.The results demonstrated that the SF-NGC graft was biocompatible with the surrounding tissues and cells due to its low inflammatory potential with a grade 0 under the U.S.Pharmacopeia guidelines and it was generally suitable to a certain degree for bridging peripheral nerve defects in virtue of supporting Schwann cell adherence,expansion and migration.Therefore the SF graft is a promising alternative to classical autografts for peripheral nerve repair. | Chen Xuemei Yang Yumin Wu Jian Zhao Yahong Ding Fei Gu Xiaosong | 2007 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9: | 5 |

| 10 | Stable multi-label boosting for image annotation with structural feature selection显示文摘Automatic annotating images with appropriate multiple tags are very important to image retrieval and image understanding. We can obtain high-dimensional heterogenous visual features from real-world images to describe their various aspects of visual characteristics, such as color, texture, and shape. Different kinds of heterogenous features have different intrinsic discriminative power for image understanding. The selection of groups of discriminative features for certain semantics is hence crucial to make the image understanding more interpretable. This paper proposes an approach, called stable multi-label boosting with structural feature selection (S-MtBFS), for image annotation. S-MtBFS comprises two steps, namely structural feature selection for each label and stable multi-label boosting by curds and whey. In the first step, a (structural) sparse selection model is learned to identify subgroups of homogenous features for the purpose of predicting a certain label. Moreover, a stable method of multi-label boosting with a re-sampling policy is employed in the second step to utilize the correlations among multiple tags. | 17 | A multifunctional cross-validation high-throughput screening protocol enabling the discovery of new SHP2 inhibitors显示文摘The protein tyrosine phosphatase Src homology phosphotyrosyl phosphatase 2(SHP2) is implicated in various cancers, and targeting SHP2 has become a promising therapeutic approach. We herein described a robust cross-validation high-throughput screening protocol that combined the fluorescence-based enzyme assay and the conformation-dependent thermal shift assay for the discovery of SHP2 inhibitors. The established method can effectively exclude the false positive SHP2 inhibitors with fluorescence interference and was also successfully employed to identify new protein tyrosine phosphatase domain of SHP2(SHP2-PTP) and allosteric inhibitors. Of note, this protocol showed potential for identifying SHP2 inhibitors against cancer-associated SHP2 mutation SHP2-E76 A. After initial screening of our in-house compound library(w2300 compounds), we identified 4 new SHP2-PTP inhibitors(0.17%hit rate) and 28 novel allosteric SHP2 inhibitors(1.22% hit rate), of which SYK-85 and WS-635 effectively inhibited SHP2-PTP(SYK-85: IC_(50) Z 0.32 mmol/L;WS-635: IC_(50) Z 4.13 mmol/L) and thus represent novel scaffolds for designing new SHP2-PTP inhibitors. TK-147, an allosteric inhibitor, inhibited SHP2 potently(IC_(50) Z 0.25 mmol/L). In structure, TK-147 could be regarded as a bioisostere of the well characterized SHP2 inhibitor SHP-099, highlighting the essential structural elements for allosteric inhibition of SHP2. | 20 | Flow characteristics and reaction properties of carbon dioxide in microtubules and porous media显示文摘Carbon dioxide reacts with porous media while flowing through them enhancing their permeability.Its flow behavior as well as the permeability enhancement effects were studied in synthetic cores,natural cores and microtubes with an inner diameter of 5 μm.The results show that the permeability of H2O-saturated cores(containing carbonate ingredients) was enhanced by increasing the injection volume of a CO2-H2O solution.This enhancement is attributable to carbon dioxide's corrosion,which is justified by SEM scanning.The same phenomenon occurs with a CO2-H2O solution in microtubes,but for a different reason.The gas flow velocity of carbon dioxide in microtubes was approximately 100% faster than that of nitrogen because of the scale and the squeezing effects.Carbon dioxide molecules dissolved in water accelerate the diffusion rate of water molecules within the boundary layer,which in turn diminishes the thickness of the water film and enlarges the effective pore size.This flow behavior facilitates the injection of carbon dioxide into low-permeability reservoirs for oil-displacement and formation energy buildup purposes.This behavior also increases the potential for carbon dioxide channeling or release from the formation. | ZHAO RenBao YUE XiangAn WU YaHong XU ShaoLiang WANG Fei HOU YongLi | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,21: | 2 |
