Synergistic effects of carbon cycle metabolism and photosynthesis in Chinese cabbage under salt stress显示文摘Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) has a long cultivation history and is one of the vegetable crops with the largest cultivation area in China. However, salt stress severely damages photosynthesis and hormone metabolism, nutritional balances, and results in ion toxicity in plants. To better understand the mechanisms of salt-induced growth inhibition in Chinese cabbage, RNA-seq and physiological index determination were conducted to explore the impacts of salt stress on carbon cycle metabolism and photosynthesis in Chinese cabbage. Here, we found that the number of thylakoids and grana lamellae and the content of starch granules and chlorophyll in the leaves of Chinese cabbage under salt stress showed a time-dependent response, first increasing and then decreasing. Chinese cabbage increased the transcript levels of genes related to the photosynthetic apparatus and carbon metabolism under salt stress, probably in an attempt to alleviate damage to the photosynthetic system and enhance CO_(2) fixation and energy metabolism. The transcription of genes related to starch and sucrose synthesis and degradation were also enhanced;this might have been an attempt to maintain intracellular osmotic pressure by increasing soluble sugar concentrations. Soluble sugars could also be used as potential reactive oxygen species(ROS) scavengers, in concert with peroxidase(POD)enzymes, to eliminate ROS that accumulate during metabolic processes. Our study characterizes the synergistic response network of carbon metabolism and photosynthesis under salt stress.Hao Liang Qiling Shi Xing Li Peipei Gao Daling Feng Xiaomeng Zhang Yin Lu Jingsen Yan Shuxing Shen Jianjun Zhao Wei Ma 2024Horticultural Plant Journal2024,10,2:0
Root Endophyte Shift and Key Genera Discovery in Rice under Barnyardgrass Stress显示文摘Despite increasing knowledge of barnyardgrass(Echinochloa crus-galli) interference with rice, relatively little is known how endophytes improve the ability of rice against barnyardgrass stress. Here, we provided a detailed temporal characterization of rice root-associated microbiomes during co-cultivation with barnyardgrass and a comparison with the microbiomes of weed-free rice plants. Alpha diversity analysis indicated that barnyardgrass had the opposite effects on endophytic bacteria and fungi in rice roots, in terms of the community diversity, richness and coverage at the rice seedling stage. Principal coordinate analysis showed that barnyardgrass had only a minor effect on the community composition of endophytes in rice roots at the rice seedling stage, but showed a significant and maximum interference at the heading stage. Rice recruited many endophytes to resist biotic stress from barnyardgrass, especially for fungi. PICRUSt(phylogenetic investigation of communities by reconstruction of unobserved states) predictive analysis indicated that 23 metabolic pathways of bacteria were overrepresented in rice. In addition, the main trophic mode of fungi was pathotroph according to FUNGuild analysis. A positive correlation between bacteria and fungi in rice roots was found via network analysis. Anaeromyxobacter, Azospira and Pseudolabrys were the vital bacteria, Phaeosphaeria and Funneliformis were the dominant fungi in maintaining the stability of the ecological network. These results provided data and a theoretical basis for the in-depth understanding of what role endophytes play in rice resistance to barnyardgrass stress and will have implications on improving the resistance of rice against biotic stress using root microbiota.LI Shuyan YAN Qiling WANG Jieyu JIANG Huidan LI Zuren PENG Qiong 2023Rice science2023,30,2:0
Illumination and regolith temperature at China's next candidate lunar landing site Shackleton crater显示文摘This study focuses on the illumination and temperature at China’s next lunar candidate landing site Shackleton crater. We used the NASA’s SPICE system to evaluate the terrain obscuration effect on real-time illumination;the resulting illumination map resembles previous studies, validating the methodologies used in our study. In addition,we estimated an accumulated illumination map for the period of likely rover movement. The map indicates the illuminated inner wall of the Shackleton crater is close to 27%of the whole, meaning that the rover will likely receive solar radiation during its movement.Using the real-time illumination and the distributed 1-D thermal diffusion model,we continuously evaluated the regolith temperature for more than 20 years to stabilize the temperature, and selected the temperature of the end time as the initial value used in a thermal study set for July 20,2023 and May 8,2027.Our results indicate the temperature in the permanent shadow region remains nearly constant, thus validating the stability of our estimated initial temperature. Our results also indicate that the surface temperature is more sensitive to transient illumination, but the subsurface temperature is more likely to be associated with the accumulated illumination. This difference indirectly implies that the conductivity of the lunar regolith is inefficient. The locations receiving more solar radiation show a temperature larger than the threshold(~112 K)of ice stability. The permanently shadowed regions can be as cold as 25 K,and such extreme coldness is a hazard to the rover. There are suitable temperature locations which have a warm surface but cold subsurface to preserve water ice.To further ensure normal rover movement,we provided a map of suitable temperature sites and found that these locations exist not only in the Shackleton crater’s inner wall, but also outside the crater. We suggested four trade-off sampling sites with suitable temperatures and gradual slopes.Zhen ZHONG Jianguo YAN Huaiyu HE Qiling WEN Deyun LIU Jean-Pierre BARRIOT 2023Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,2:0
Design and experimental verification of a monolithic complete-light modulator based on birefringent materials显示文摘This paper presents a method to design a monolithic complete-light modulator(MCLM) that fully controls the amplitude, phase, and polarization of incident light. The MCLM is made of birefringent materials that provide different refractive indices to orthogonal eigen-polarizations, the ordinary o and extraordinary e states. We propose an optimization method to calculate the two relief depth distributions for the two eigen-polarizations. Also, a merging algorithm is proposed to combine the two relief depth distributions into one. The corresponding simulations were carried out in this work and the desired light distribution, including information on amplitude, phase, and four polarization states, was obtained when a laser beam passed through a 16-depth-level microstructure whose feature size is 8 μm. The structure was fabricated by common photolithography. An experimental optical system was also set up to test the optical effects and performances of the MCLM. The experimental performance of the MCLM agrees with the simulation results, which verifies the validity of the algorithms we propose in this paper.YINGFEI PANG AXIU CAO JIAZHOU WANG HUI PANG WEI YAN XIANGDONG WU LIFANG SHI QILING DENG 2019Photonics Research2019,7,8:0
Preparation and characterization of pH-responsive metal-polyphenol structure coated nanoparticles显示文摘In this paper, tannic acid(TA)and Fe~(3+)were added to form a layer of metal-polyphenol network structure on the surface of the nanoparticles which were fabricated by zein and carbon quantum dots(CQDs)encapsulating phlorotannins(PTN).pH-Responsive nanoparticles were prepared successfully(zein-PTN-CQDs-Fe-~Ⅲ).Further,the formation of composite nanoparticles was confirmed by a series of characterization methods. The zeta-potential and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy data proved that electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding are dominant forces to form nanoparticles. The encapsulation efficiency(EE)revealed that metal-polyphenol network structure could improve the EE of PTN.Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry experiment indicated the thermal stability of zein-PTN-CQDs-Fe~Ⅲnanoparticles increased because of metal-polyphenol network structure. The pH-responsive nanoparticles greatly increased the release rate of active substances and achieved targeted release.Qile Xia Yan Liang Ailing Cao Yan Cao Luyun Cai 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,3:0

Underdetermined direction of arrival estimation with nonuniform linear motion sampling based on a small unmanned aerial vehicle platform显示文摘Uniform linear array(ULA)radars are widely used in the collision-avoidance radar systems of small unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).In practice,a ULA's multi-target direction of arrival(DOA)estimation performance suffers from significant performance degradation owing to the limited number of physical elements. To improve the underdetermined DOA estimation performance of a ULA radar mounted on a small UAV platform,we propose a nonuniform linear motion sampling underdetermined DOA estimation method.Using the motion of the UAV platform, the echo signal is sampled at different positions. Then, according to the concept of difference co-array,a virtual ULA with multiple array elements and a large aperture is synthesized to increase the degrees of freedom(DOFs).Through position analysis of the original and motion arrays,we propose a nonuniform linear motion sampling method based on ULA for determining the optimal DOFs.Under the condition of no increase in the aperture of the physical array, the proposed method obtains a high DOF with fewer sampling runs and greatly improves the underdetermined DOA estimation performance of ULA.The results of numerical simulations conducted herein verify the superior performance of the proposed method.Xinwei Wang Xiaopeng Yan Tai An Qile Chen Dingkun Huang 2024Defence Technology(防务技术)2024,33,3:0
