| 1 | Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of essential oils from five parts of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To analyze the essential oils from flowers, leaves, stems, roots, and fruits of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis).METHODS: We extracted essential oils from different parts of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis) using a steam distillation method. The essential oils were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Data were collected in full scan mode(m/z 60-600). Volatile components were identified based on their retention indices and by comparing their mass spectra with those in the National Institute of Standards and Technology 2005 database assisted by tandem mass spectrometry information. The relative content of each constituent wasdetermined by area normalization.RESULTS: We identified 111 components, of which12 were common to all 5 parts, 30 were found only in roots, 14 were found only in flowers, 6 were found only in leaves, 4 were found only in stems,and 17 were found only in fruits.CONCLUSION: Our results show that the stems,flowers, leaves, and fruits of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)contain a high concentration of essential oils, and that the exact composition of the essential oils differs among the plant parts. To develop new medicines and make full use of the Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)resource, it is important to characterize the essential oils from different parts of the plant. | 2 | Chaotic invariant sets of a delayed discrete neural network of two non-identical neurons显示文摘In this paper, we show that a delayed discrete Hopfield neural network of two nonidentical neurons with no self-connections can demonstrate chaotic behavior in a region away from the origin. To this end, we first transform the model, by a novel way, into an equivalent system which enjoys some nice properties. Then, we identify a chaotic invariant set for this system and show that the system within this set is topologically conjugate to the full shift map on two symbols. This confirms chaos in the sense of Devaney. Our main result is complementary to the results in Kaslik and Balint (2008) and Huang and Zou (2005), where it was shown that chaos may occur in neighborhoods of the origin for the same system. | 4 | Effect of melt superheating treatment on the cast structure of K465 nickel-based superalloy显示文摘The cast structure of a K465 nickel-based superalloy with different temperatures of melt superheating treatment was studied. It is shown that melt superheating treatment plays a significant role in the grain size and carbide morphology. With increasing melt superheating temperature (below 2023 K),the grain size increases obviously and the carbide morphology is changed from a blocky to a script-like shape. However,when the melt superheating temperature is between 2023 K and 2123 K,the grain size decreases gradually,and the morphology of the MC carbide changes back to the blocky appearance. | 7 | Rapid and highly effective bacteria-killing by polydopamine/IR780@MnO_2–Ti using near-infrared light显示文摘Bacterial infections are becoming a serious public health challenge because the abuse of antibiotics worldwide has caused bacterial resistance and the occurrence of superbugs. In this work, a new near-infrared(NIR) photoresponsive coating was constructed on Ti implant material, which was composed of MnO_2, IR780 photosensitizer and polydopamine(PDA). Under the irradiation of 808 nm NIR light, the component of MnO_2 in the coating exhibited high photothermal performance, and IR780 could be stimulated to generate ROS as a photosensitizer. The addition of PDA not only improved the cytocompatibility of the composite coating but also strengthened the light absorption ability of the system. Under the irradiation of 808 nm NIR light for 15 min, the composite coating killed 99.94% Staphylococcus aureus and 99.89% Escherichia coli on Ti plates. This rapid and highly effective bactericidal rate was ascribed to the synergistic effects of photothermal performance and photodynamic effect of the coatings excited by NIR light. Cell culture tests showed that PDA/IR780@MnO_2–Ti had good cytocompatibility due to the excellent biocompatibility of PDA and nanostructured surface. | 8 | Solitary Langerhans cell histiocytosis of frontal lobe: a case report and literature review显示文摘The brain parenchymal Langerhans cell histiocytosis(LCH) without systemic disease or lytic skull lesions is extremely rare. We report a 23-year-old male presenting with new onset 1 hour seizure with loss of consciousness 20 days prior to admission, and recurrent seizure 2 weeks later. Brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) showed an irregularly mass with enhancement involving the right frontal lobe. Microscopically, the lesion was characterized by sheets of Langerhans cells in addition to reactive inflammatory elements. Immunohistochemically, Langerhans cells were positive for Langerin, CD1a and S-100 protein. The patient received no chemotherapy or radiotherapy after surgery. After 24 months of follow-up, no recurrence or other systemic lesions were observed.
