2The clinical association of programmed cell death protein 4(PDCD4) with solid tumors and its prognostic significance:a meta-analysis显示文摘Background: Programmed cell death protein 4(PDCD4) is a novel tumor suppressor protein involved in pro?grammed cell death. Its association with cancer progression has been observed in multiple tumor models, but evidence supporting its association with solid tumors in humans remains controversial. This study aimed to determine the clinical signiicance and prognostic value of PDCD4 in solid tumors.Methods: A systematic literature review was performed to retrieve publications with available clinical informa?tion and survival data. The eligibility of the selected articles was based on the criteria of the Dutch Cochrane Centre proposed by the Meta?analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology group. Pooled odds ratios(ORs), hazard ratios(HRs), and 95% conidence intervals(CIs) for survival analysis were calculated. Publication bias was examined by Begg's and Egger's tests.Results: Clinical data of 2227 cancer patients with solid tumors from 23 studies were evaluated. PDCD4 expression was signiicantly associated with the diferentiation status of head and neck cancer(OR 4.25, 95% CI 1.87–9.66) and digestive system cancer(OR 2.87, 95% CI 1.84–4.48). Down?regulation of PDCD4 was signiicantly associated with short overall survival of patients with head and neck(HR: 3.44, 95% CI 2.38–4.98), breast(HR: 1.86, 95% CI 1.36–2.54), digestive system(HR: 2.12, 95% CI 1.75–2.56), and urinary system cancers(HR: 3.16, 95% CI 1.06–9.41).Conclusions: The current evidence suggests that PDCD4 down?regulation is involved in the progression of several types of solid tumor and is a potential marker for solid tumor prognoses. 3Transradial versus transfemoral access for anterior circulation mechanical thrombectomy: analysis of 375 consecutive cases显示文摘Objective To compare transradial artery access(TRA)to the gold standard of transfemoral artery access(TFA)in mechanical thrombectomy(MT)for stroke caused by anterior circulation large vessel occlusion.Methods The clinical outcomes,procedural speed,angiographic efficacy and safety of both techniques were analysed in 375 consecutive cases over an 18-month period in a high volume statewide neurointerventional service.Results There was no significant difference in patient characteristics,stroke parameters,imaging techniques or intracranial techniques.The median time elapsed between CT scanning and reperfusion was 96.5 min(IQR 68-123)in the TFA group and 95 min(IQR 68-123)in the TRA group(p=0.456).Of 336 patients who were independent at presentation 58%(124/214)of the TFA group and 67%(82/122)of the TRA group had a modified Rankin score of 0-2 at 90-day follow-up(p=0.093).Cross-over from radial to femoral was 4.6%(4/130)compared with 1.6%cross-over from femoral to radial(4/245),but did not meet the predetermined level of statistical significance(OR2.92,95% CI 0.81 to 10.52,p=0.088) and did not impact median procedural speed.Adequate angiographic reperfusion,first pass reperfusion,embolisation to new territory and symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage were similar in both groups.There was a significant difference in major access site complications requiring an additional procedure.None of the TRA cases had a major access site complication but 6.5%(16/245)of the TFA cases did(p=0.003).Conclusion This study suggests that using TRA for anterior circulation MT is fast,efficacious,safe and not inferior to the gold standard of TFA.Timothy John Phillips Matthew Thomas Crockett Gregory D Selkirk Ruchi Kabra Albert Ho Yuen Chiu Tejinder Singh Constantine Phatouros William McAuliffe 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,2:7
4Tissue-based metabolite profiling and qualitative comparison of two species of Achyranthes roots by use of UHPLC-QTOF MS and laser micro-dissection显示文摘Achyranthes bidentata and Achyranthes aspera are saponin and steroid rich medicinal plants, used extensively for therapeutic treatments in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) and Ayurveda. A. bidentata is reported to be one of the rare and extensively exploited medicinal plant species that face the issue of being endangered.Finding qualitative substitute with identical phyto-constituents contributing to similar composition and pharmacological benefits will help in reducing the burden of exploitation of the natural habitats of such plants.In the present study, a comparative metabolite analysis of the whole drug and specific tissues isolated by laser micro-dissection(LMD) was carried out for both the selected species, by use of ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UHPLC-QTOF MS). The results of the study indicate that the cortex and the medullary ray tissues are rich in their content of steroidal and saponin constituents such as(25 S)-inokosterone-20,22-acetonide, ginsenoside Ro, bidentatoside II and achyranthoside B.Metabolite profiling of the whole tissues of both the species indicates presence of identical constituents. 5An intrinsically bioactive hydrogel with on-demand drug release behaviors for diabetic wound healing显示文摘Prolonged,intense inflammation and excessive oxidative stress hinder diabetic wounds from healing normally,leading to disorders downstream including the postponement of re-epithelialization and extracellular matrix(ECM)formation.Herein,we report a hyaluronic acid(HA)and chitosan based hydrogel(OHA-CMC)with inherent antibacterial and hemostatic activities fabricated via Schiff base reaction.By encapsulating nanotechnologically-modified curcumin(CNP)and epidermal growth factor(EGF)into the hydrogel,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF exhibited extraordinary antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and migration-promoting effects in vitro.Meanwhile,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF presented on-demand drug release in synchrony with the phases of the wound healing process.Specifically,curcumin was rapidly and constantly released to alleviate inflammation and oxidative stress in the early phase of wound healing,while a more gradual and sustained release of EGF supported late proliferation and ECM remodeling.In a diabetic full-thickness skin defect model,OHA-CMC/CNP/EGF dramatically improved wound healing with ideal re-epithelialization,granulation tissue formation,and skin appendage regeneration,highlighting the enormous therapeutic potential this biomaterial holds as a diabetic wound dressing.Bin Hu Mingzhu Gao Kofi Oti Boakye-Yiadom William Ho Wei Yu Xiaoyang Xu Xue-Qing Zhang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:4
