| 2 | Methanation of carbon dioxide on Ni/ZrO_2-Al_2O_3 catalysts:Effects of ZrO_2 promoter and preparation method of novel ZrO_2-Al_2O_3 carrier显示文摘The novel nickel-based catalysts with a nickel content of 12 wt% were prepared with the zirconia-alumina composite as the supports. The new carriers, ZrO2 improved alumina, were synthesized by three methods, i.e., impregnation-precipitation, co-precipitation, and impregnation method. The catalytic properties of these catalysts were investigated in the methanation of carbon dioxide, and the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) techniques. The new catalysts showed higher catalytic activity and better stability than Ni/γ-Al2O3. Furthermore, as a support for new nickel catalyst, the ZrO2-Al2O3 composite prepared by the impregnation-precipitation method was more efficient than the other supports in the methanation of carbon dioxide. | 6 | Late Mesozoic extensional tectonics of the Liaodong Peninsula massif:Response of crust to continental lithosphere destruction of the North China Craton显示文摘Unlike most Precambrian cratons that have thick sub-continental lithospheric roots,the Archean lithosphere beneath the North China Craton is thin (reduced from 200 km to about 80 km),and has been replaced by a geochemically juvenile lithospheric mantle.This is a unique regional geological event,which has attracted worldwide attention.In the North China Block,Late Mesozoic extensional tectonics is evident by low-angle detachment faults,syntectonic plutons bounded by ductile faults,metamorphic core complexes (MCC) and widespread Jurassic to Cretaceous half-grabens filled by continental terrigenous deposits and volcanic rocks.At a regional scale,these structures share the same NW-SE extensional direction,while maintaining their own individual kinematics.In other words,the MCC feature a top-to-the-NW sense of shear,and syntectonic plutons are typified by a top-to-the-SE shearing deformations.Geochronological results indicate that the extensional structures were formed between 130-120 Ma.These extensional events lead to magmatic rock emplacement,distributed at the footwall of the detachment faults.Two different exhumation stages can be identified based on regional structural and magmatic interpretation:a Jurassic slow or negligible exhumation and a Cretaceous fast one assisted by normal faulting.These two cooling stages correspond to distinct geodynamic processes that occurred during the Jurassic and Cretaceous.Extensional tectonics appear to have been insignificant before the Early Cretaceous,and the process may be demonstrated by partial melting of the crust.The second stage,dominated by an extensional regime,developed after ca 120 Ma,and is tentatively correlated with crustal extension caused by lithospheric removal of the North China Craton. | LIN Wei WANG QingChen WANG Jun WANG Fei CHU Yang CHEN Ke | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,6: | 24 |
| 7 | Root microbiota shift in rice correlates with resident time in the field and developmental stage显示文摘Land plants in natural soil form intimate relationships with the diverse root bacterial microbiota. A growing body of evidence shows that these microbes are important for plant growth and health. Root microbiota composition has been widely studied in several model plants and crops; however, little is known about how root microbiota vary throughout the plant's life cycle under field conditions. We performed longitudinal dense sampling in field trials to track the time-series shift of the root microbiota from two representative rice cultivars in two separate locations in China. We found that the rice root microbiota varied dramatically during the vegetative stages and stabilized from the beginning of the reproductive stage, after which the root microbiota underwent relatively minor changes until rice ripening. Notably, both rice genotype and geographical location influenced the patterns of root microbiota shift that occurred during plant growth. The relative abundance of Deltaproteobacteria in roots significantly increased overtime throughout the entire life cycle of rice, while that of Betaproteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Gammaproteobacteria decreased. By a machine learning approach, we identified biomarker taxa and established a model to correlate root microbiota with rice resident time in the field(e.g., Nitrospira accumulated from 5 weeks/tillering in field-grown rice). | 8 | Field released transgenic papaya effect on soil microbial communities and enzyme activities显示文摘Soil properties, microbial communities and enzyme activities were stud ied in soil amended with replicase (RP)-transgenic or non-transgenic papaya unde r field conditions. Compared with non-transgenic papaya, significant differences (P<0.05) were observed in total nitrogen in soils grown with transgenic papaya. There were also significant differences (P<0.05) in the total number of colony forming units (CFUs) of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi between soils amended with RP-transgenic plants and non-transgenic plants. Compared with non-transgen ic papaya, the total CFUs of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi in soil with tran sgenic papaya increased by 0.43—1.1, 0.21—0.80 and 0.46—0.73 times respective ly. Significantly higher (P<0.05) CFUs of bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi res istant to kanamycin (Km) were obtained in soils with RP-transgenic papaya than t hose with non-transgenic papaya in all concentrations of Km. Higher resistance q uotients for Kmr (kanamycin resistant) bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi were fo und in soil planted with RP-transgenic papaya, and the resistance quotients for Kmr bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi in soils with transgenic papaya increased 1.6—4.46, 0.63—2.5 and 0.75—2.30 times. RP-transgenic papaya and non-transg enic papaya produced significantly different enzyme activities in arylsulfatase (5.4—5.9x), polyphenol oxidase (0.7—1.4x), invertase (0.5—0.79x), cellulase ( 0.23—0.35x) and phosphodiesterase (0.16—0.2x). The former three soil enzymes appeared to be more sensitive to the transgenic papaya than the others, and cou ld be useful parameters in assessing the effects of transgenic papaya. | 10 | Investigation of quality of life in patients with lung cancer by the EORTC QLQ-C30(V3.0) Chinese version显示文摘Objective To explore quality of life(QOL) and its influencing factors in patients with lung cancer.Methods A QOL questionnaire(European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer [EORTC] Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 [QLQ-C30] Chinese version) was used with 138 patients with lung cancer participating in the study. A statistical description of the general characteristics of the patients with lung cancer was performed. The patients' QLQ-C30 scores were compared with the reference value for each dimension. To analyze the influence of QOL in different genders, age groups, and cancer stages, ttests and rank sum tests were used to compare the differences in QOL using a 5% significance level. Results The QLQ-C30 function scores in PF(physical functioning), EF(emotional functioning), SF(social functioning), and GH(global functioning), and symptom scales in NV(nausea and vomiting), DY(dyspnea), SL(insomnia), and FI(financial difficulties) were significantly different(P < 0.05) in comparison to the reference values. Female patients were worse than males(P < 0.05) in EF, NV, and DI(diarrhea). The later the stage of lung cancer, the worse the quality of life became; the functional scales in RF(role functioning), EF, CF, SF, and GH, and symptom scales in PA(pain), AP(appetite), and SL differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). | 11 | Regional differences in crustal structure of the North China Craton from receiver functions显示文摘Moho depth and crustal average Poisson's ratio for 823 stations are obtained by H-? stacking of receiver functions. These, together with topography and receiver function amplitude information, were used to study the crustal structure beneath the North China Craton(NCC). The results suggest that modified and preserved crust coexist beneath the craton with generally Airy-type isostatic equilibrium. The equilibrium is relatively low in the eastern NCC and some local areas in the central and western NCC, which correlates well with regional geology and tectonic features. Major differences in the crust were observed beneath the eastern, central, and western NCC, with average Moho depths of 33, 37, and 42 km and average Poisson's ratios of 0.268, 0.267 and 0.264, respectively. Abnormal Moho depths and Poisson's ratios are mainly present in the rift zones, the northern and southern edges of the central NCC, and tectonic boundaries. The crust beneath Ordos retains the characteristics of typical craton. Poisson's ratio increases roughly linearly as Moho depth decreases in all three parts of the NCC with different slopes. Receiver function amplitudes are relatively large in the northern edge of the eastern and central NCC, and small in and near the rifts. The Yanshan Mountains and southern part of the Shanxi rift show small-scale variations in the receiver-function amplitudes. These observations suggest that overall modification and thinning in the crust occurred in the eastern NCC, and local crustal modification occurred in the central and western NCC. Different crustal structures in the eastern, central, and western NCC suggest different modification processes and mechanisms. | 14 | Effects of continuously regenerating diesel particulate filters on regulated emissions and number-size distribution of particles emitted from a diesel engine显示文摘The effects of continuously regenerating diesel particulate filter (CRDPF) systems on regulated gaseous emissions, and number-size distribution and mass of particles emanated from a diesel engine have been investigated in this study. Two CRDPF units (CRDPF-1 and CRDPF-2) with different specifications were separately retrofitted to the engine running with European steady-state cycle (ESC). An electrical low pressure impactor (ELPI) was used for particle number-size distribution measurement and mass estimation. The conversion/reduction rate (R CR ) of hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) across CRDPF-1 was 83% and 96.3%, respectively. Similarly, the R CR of HC and CO and across CRDPF-2 was 91.8% and 99.1%, respectively. The number concentration of particles and their concentration peaks; nuclei mode, accumulation mode and total particles; and particle mass were highly reduced with the CRDPF units. The nuclei mode particles at downstream of CRDPF-1 and CRDPF-2 decreased by 99.9% to 100% and 97.8% to 99.8% respectively; and the particle mass reduced by 73% to 92.2% and 35.3% to 72.4%, respectively, depending on the engine conditions. | 15 | Scutellaria barbata D.Don Inhibits Colorectal Cancer Growth via Suppression of Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway显示文摘Objective: To investigate the effect of the ethanol extract of Scutellaria barbata D. Don(EESB) on colorectal cancer(CRC) growth and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in vivo and in vitro. Methods: In vivoexperiment, CRC xenograft mouse model was constructed with injection of HT-29 cells. Following xenograft implantation, twenty mice were randomly divided into EESB-treated group(n=10) and control group(n=10) by a random number table, and were given with intra-gastric administration of 2 g/kg EESB or saline, 5 days a week for 16 days, respectively. At the end of experiment, tumors were removed and weighed by electronic scales. The proliferation biomarker Ki-67 of tumor was evaluated by immunohistochemistry(IHC) assay. In vitro study, HT-29 cells were treated with 0, 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 mg/m L EESB for 24 h. At the end of the treatment, the viability and survival of HT-29 cells were determined by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay and colony formation assay, respectively. The m RNA expression of c-Myc, Survivin and adenomatous polyposis coli(APC) was examined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) both in tumor tissues of CRC xenograft mice and HT-29 cells. Protein expression of c-Myc, Survivin, APC, and β-catenin as well as β-catenin phosphorylation level were evaluated by IHC assay or Western blotting. Results: EESB significantly reduced tumor weight in CRC xenografts mice, compared with the control group(P<0.05). IHC assay showed that EESB significantly inhibited protein expression of Ki-67 in tumor tissues(P<0.05). MTT assay showed that EESB significantly reduced HT-29 cell viability in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05). Colony formation assay showed that EESB dose-dependently decreased the survival of HT-29 cells(P<0.05). In addition, RT-PCR assay showed that EESB decreased the m RNA expression of c-Myc and Survivin and increased APC expression, both in tumor tissues of CRC xenograft mice and HT-29 cells(P<0.05). IHC assay or Western blotting showed that EESB decreased protein expression of β-catenin, c-Myc and Survivin, as well as increased APC expression and β-catenin phosphorylation in tumor tissues or HT-29 cells(P<0.05). Conclusions: EESB significantly reduced tumor growth in CRC xenografts mice, and inhibited the viability and survival of HT-29 cells. EESB could suppress the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, which might be one of the mechanisms whereby Scutellaria barbata D. Responses of soil APA to elevating nitrogen (N) deposition are important because of their potential applications in addressing the relationship between N and P in forest ecosystems. A study of responses of soil APA to simulated N deposition was conducted in three succession forests of subtropical China. The three forests include a Masson pine (Pinus massoniana) forest (MPF)-pioneer community, a coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest (MF)-transition community and a monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest (MEBF)-climax community. Four N treatments were designed for MEBF: control (without N added), low-N (50 kg N ha-1 year-1), and medium-N (100 kg N ha-1 year-1) and high-N (150 kg N ha-1 year-1), and only three N treatments (i.e., control, low-N, medium-N) were established for MPF and MF. Results showed that soil APA was highest in MEBF, followed by MPF and MF. Soil APAs in both MPF and MF were not influenced by low-N treatments but depressed in medium-N treatments. However, soil APA in MEBF exhibited negative responses to high N additions, indicating that the environment of enhanced N depositions would reduce P supply for the mature forest ecosystem. The results show that with increasing MgO content in the sinter, the softening interval and melting interval increased and the location of the cohesive zone shifted downward slightly and became moderately thicker. The softening–melting characteristic value was less pronounced when the MgO content in the sinter was 2.98wt%–3.40wt%. Increasing MgO content in the sinter reduced the content and recovery of V and Cr in the dripped iron. In addition, greater MgO contents in the sinter resulted in the generation of greater amounts of high-melting-point components, which adversely affected the permeability of the mixed burden. | 19 | Qingxuan Jiangya Decoction(清眩降压汤) Prevents Blood Pressure Elevation and Ameliorates Vascular Structural Remodeling via Modulating TGF-β 1/Smad Pathway in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats显示文摘Objective:To elevate the effects of Qingxuan Jiangya Decoction(清眩降压汤,QXJYD)on hypertension and vascular structural remodeling(VSR)in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHRs),and investigate the underlying mechanisms.Methods:SHRs(n=8)were given intra-gastric administration with 60 mg/kg of QXJYD or saline,daily for 8 weeks,while rats in SHR-control(n=8)and WKY(n=8)groups were received equal volumes of saline solution.Systolic blood pressures(SBP),diastolic blood pressures(DBP)and mean blood pressures(MBP)were measured once a week.The levels of angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ),endothelin 1(ET-1)and plasma renin activity(PRA)were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and radioimmunoassay,respectively.The effect of QXJYD on VSR was determined by examining the media thickness and the ex vivo contractility of thoracic aortic.The proliferation and fibrosis of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)were examined via immunohistochemical(IHC)staining for proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA),collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ,respectively.The mRNA and protein expressions of transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1),Smad3 and phosphorylation of Smad3 in thoracic aorta tissues were determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and Western blot assay,respectively.Results:QXJYD treatment led to a significant decrease of the elevation of blood pressure in SHRs and reduced the levels of AngⅡ,ET-1 and PRA in the serum(P<0.05).In addition,QXJYD treatment remarkably ameliorated VSR and vascular function in SHRs.Moreover,QXJYD inhibited VSMC proliferation and fibrosis by suppressing the expression of PCNA,collagen Ⅰ and collagen Ⅲ in thoracic aortic.Furthermore,QXJYD inhibited the expression of TGF-β1,Smad3 and the phosphorylation of Smad3,respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion:QXJYD reversed VSR by inhibiting VSMC proliferation and collagen deposition via regulation of TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway,which may,in part,illuminate its anti-hypertensive activities. | HE Fei CHU Jian-feng CHEN Hong-wei LIN Wei LIN Shan CHEN You-qin PENG Jun CHEN Ke-ji | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,3: | 12 |
