| 4 | Induction of a 55 kDa acetylcholinesterase protein during apoptosis and its negative regulation by the Akt pathway显示文摘Acetylcholinesterase(AChE)is emerging as an important contributor to apoptosis in various cell types.However,overexpression of AChE does not initiate apoptosis,and cells which express AChE at basal levels grow normally,suggesting that AChE may function differently between normal and apoptotic conditions.In this study,we determined that an AChE-derived protein(∼55 kDa)positively correlated with cellular apoptotic levels.The 55 kDa AChE protein was not a result of a novel splice variant of the AChE primary transcript.Instead,it was determined to be a cleaved fragment of the full-length 68 kDa AChE protein that could not be inhibited by cycloheximide(CHX)but could be suppressed by caspase inhibitors in apoptotic PC-12 cells.Furthermore,activation of the Akt cascade abolished the 55 kDa protein,and both AChE protein forms(68 and 55 kDa)accumulated in the nucleus during apoptosis.In a mouse model for ischemia/reperfusion(I/R)-induced acute renal failure,the 55 kDa AChE protein was detected in the impaired organs but not in the normal ones,and its levels correlated with the genotype of the mice.In summary,a 55 kDa AChE protein resulting from the cleavage of 68 kDa AChE is induced during apoptosis,and it is negatively regulated by the Akt pathway.This study suggests that an alternative form of AChE may play a role in apoptosis. | Jing Xie Hua Jiang Yi-Han Wan Ai-Ying Du Kai-Jie Guo Te Liu Wei-Yuan Ye Xin Niu Jun Wu Xiao-Qin Dong Xue-Jun Zhang | 2011 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2011,3,4: | 1 |

| 6 | Molecule diffusion behaviours of waterproof sealants into silicone rubber insulation for submarine cable joint based on molecular dynamics simulations显示文摘The repair joints of high-voltage cables play a significant role in the urgent cable main-tenance,by recovering cable conductor,insulation,shielding layer and waterproof layer especially for submarine cables.However,the molecule diffusion and permeation pro-cesses from waterproof sealant into the cable joint insulation occur,leading to the insulation ageing and deterioration.In this article,the molecule diffusion behaviours of six typical molecules from the asphalt-based and polyurethane-based waterproof sealants into silicone rubber insulation are investigated.The results show that the order of diffusion coefficients is as follows,phenanthrene>fluoranthene>pyrene>benzo[k]fluoranthene>indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene>polyurethane(PU).The relative molecular mass and binding energy are pivotal factors affecting the diffusion behaviour,while there is a linear relationship between the logarithm of the diffusion coefficient and the ratio of binding energy to relative molecular mass.Besides,the rising ambient temperature in-creases the fraction of free volume of silicone rubber and decreases the binding energy,thus resulting in a higher diffusion coefficient and an enhanced permeation process of the asphalt-based sealant.In summary,the PU-based waterproof sealant,with a much lower permeability than the asphalt-based material,has a potential application in the waterproof layer for high-voltage submarine cable repair joints. | Zhenpeng Zhang Heyu Wang Zhonglei Li Jiankang Zhao Shaohua Wang Wenlin Pan Wenjie Li Te Li Boxue Du | 2021 | High Voltage2021,6,2: | 1 |

| 8 | Topological multipolar corner state in a supercell metasurface and its interplay with two-dimensional materials显示文摘Second-order topological insulators(SOTIs) have recently attracted much attention due to their capability to support lower-dimensional topological states, namely, the corner states. Here, we demonstrate that properly designed supercell metasurfaces can support photonic corner states, meanwhile further serving as an ideal platform for the implementations of topological polaritons and dynamically reconfigurable corner states by assembling two-dimensional materials. Such metasurfaces consist of an array of finite-sized SOTIs mimicking the twodimensional Su–Schrieffer–Heeger model. We reveal that the topological transition happens in unit cells without the bandgap, and nondegenerate multipolar corner states emerge in the supercell metasurface due to the inter-and intrasupercell coupling effects. Especially since these corner states are above the light line of the metasurface, we realize the collective stimulation of the two dipolar corner states and their superposition state via far-field excitation. By stacking monolayer hexagonal boron nitride film onto the metasurface, we further achieve the topological phonon polaritons through the strong coupling between the corner state and the phonon, which is confirmed by the Rabi splitting as well as anticrossing behavior emerging in the transmission spectra.Furthermore, we reveal the robustness of the corner state and strong coupling by introducing defects into the metasurface. Finally, tunable corner state and strong coupling with on-demand control are realized by assembling monolayer graphene onto the metasurface. | 9 | Maize-legume intercropping promote N uptake through changing the root spatial distribution,legume nodulation capacity,and soil N availability显示文摘Legume cultivars affect N uptake,component crop growth,and soil physical and chemical characteristics in maize-legume intercropping systems.However,how belowground interactions mediate root growth,N fixation,and nodulation of different legumes to affect N uptake is still unclear.Hence,a two-year experiment was conducted with five planting patterns,i.e.,maize-soybean strip intercropping(IMS),maize-peanut strip intercropping(IMP),and corresponding monocultures(monoculture maize(MM),monoculture soybean(MS),and monoculture peanut(MP)),and two N application rates,i.e.,no N fertilizer(N-)and conventional N fertilizer(N+),to examine relationships between N uptake and root distribution of crops,legume nodulation and soil N availability.Results showed that the averaged N uptake per unit area of intercrops was significantly lower than the corresponding monocultures.Compared with the monoculture system,the N uptake of the intercropping systems increased by 31.7-45.4%in IMS and by 7.4-12.2%in IMP,respectively.The N uptake per plant of intercropped maize and soybean significantly increased by 61.6 and 31.8%,and that of intercropped peanuts significantly decreased by 46.6%compared with the corresponding monocultures.Maize and soybean showed asymmetrical distribution of roots in strip intercropping systems.The root length density(RLD)and root surface area density(RSAD)of intercropped maize and soybean were significantly greater than that of the corresponding monocultures.The roots of intercropped peanuts were confined,which resulted in decreased RLD and RSAD compared with the monoculture.The nodule number and nodule fresh weight of soybean were significantly greater in IMS than in MS,and those of peanut were significantly lower in IMP than in MP.The soil protease,urease,and nitrate reductase activities of maize and soybean were significantly greater in IMS and IMP than in the corresponding monoculture,while the enzyme activities of peanut were significantly lower in IMP than in MP.The soil available N of maize and soybean was significantly greater increased in IMS and IMP than in the corresponding monocultures,while that of IMP was significantly lower than in MP.In summary,the IMS system was more beneficial to N uptake than the IMP system.The intercropping of maize and legumes can promote the N uptake of maize,thus reducing the need for N application and improving agricultural sustainability. | ZHENG Ben-chuan ZHOU Ying CHEN Ping ZHANG Xiao-na DU Qing YANG Huan WANG Xiao-chun YANG Feng XIAO Te LI Long YANG Wen-yu YONG Tai-wen | 2022 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,6: | 0 |
