| 1 | Long-term changes in the fishery ecosystem structure of Laizhou Bay,China显示文摘Laizhou Bay provides a critical spawning and nursery habitat for many fishery species,including commercially important species,such as Fenneropenaeus chinensis and Larimichthys polyactis.The bay is severely stressed due to high fishing pressure and environmental changes.Based on the long-term ecosystem surveys in Laizhou Bay during the main spawning period(May) of most fishery species from 1959 to 2008,the responses of the Laizhou Bay fishery ecosystem were analyzed here,including regime shifts in species composition,biomass,species diversity,zooplankton,phytoplankton,and environmental variables.The dominant species of large-size and high economic value(e.g.Trichiurus haumela,L.polyactis) have been replaced by the short-lived,low-trophic-level planktivorous pelagic species(e.g.Setipinna taty,Engraulis japonicus) since the 1980s,and it is probable that the small-sized pelagic fishes have been recently replaced by invertebrates(e.g.Oratosquilla oratoria,Crangon affinis).The biomass of fishery resources declined continuously from 423.6 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1959 to 164.6 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1982,37.7 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1993,and less than 8 kg haul?1 h?1 in 1998-2008.Moreover,the biomass of zooplankton showed an increasing trend during 1959-2006,but showed a slight decline in 2008.The abundance of phytoplankton increased from 1959 through 1982,decreased substantially in 1993,and increased again until 2004.More recently,however,the phytoplankton abundance was very low.The sea surface temperature(SST) and sea bottom temperature(SBT) in May increased by 0.23°C a?1 and 0.16°C a?1,respectively,during 1982-2008.The salinity in May showed large fluctuations and reached its lowest values in 2004 and 2006.The ratio of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) to dissolved inorganic phosphate(DIP) increased.However,the dissolved silicon(DSi):DIP and DSi:DIN ratios decreased to a low level during 1959-2008.These changes seriously impacted primary production,and cascade effects then changed the structure and function of the fishery ecosystem.Further analysis indicated that multiple stresses caused the alterations in the structure of the Laizhou Bay fishery ecosystem.The top-down effect was identified as the main influence on the fishery species(at the top of the food chain) over the past five decades due to the increasing fishing pressure,whereas the bottom-up effect increased over the past three decades due to the strong variations in the environment. | JIN XianShi SHAN XiuJuan LI XianSen WANG Jun CUI Yi ZUO Tao | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,3: | 31 |

| 4 | Classification of histological severity of Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis by confocal laser endomicroscopy显示文摘AIM: To classify the histological severity of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection-associated gastritis by confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE). METHODS: Patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms or individuals who were screened for gastric cancer were enrolled in this study. Histological severity of H. pylori infection-associated gastritis was graded according to the established CLE criteria. Diagnostic value of CLE for histo-logical gastritis was investigated and compared with that of white light endoscopy (WLE). Targeted biopsies from the sites observed by CLE were performed. RESULTS: A total of 118 consecutive patients with H. pylori infection-associated gastritis were enrolled in this study. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showedthat the sensitivity and specifi city of CLE were 82.9% and 90.9% for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection, 94.6% and 97.4% for predicting gastric normal mucosa, 98.5% and 94.6% for predicting histological active inflammation, 92.9% and 95.2% for predicting glan-dular atrophy, 98.6% and 100% for diagnosing intes-tinal metaplasia, respectively. Post-CLE image analysis showed that goblet cells and absorptive cells were the two most common parameters on the CLE-diagnosed intestinal metaplasia (IM) images (P < 0.001). More his-tological lesions of the stomach could be found by CLE than by WLE (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: CLE can accurately show the histological severity of H. pylori infection-associated gastritis. | 8 | Development of high-temperature superconducting filters operating at temperatures above 90 K显示文摘This paper represents the development of a high temperature superconducting (HTS) filter, the highest operating temperature of which is up to 93 K. The filter is designed for S band with 4% fractional bandwidth and fabricated using thallium-barium-calcium-copper oxide (Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8) thin films. At 93 K, the measurements of the filter show that the insertion loss in the passband is less than 0.22 dB, the return loss is better than 20 dB, and the out-of-band rejection is more than 80 dB. The analysis on the characteristics of the filter operating at different temperatures shows that the filter can work well at temperatures around 90 K. The temperature of 93 K is the highest among the previous reports for HTS filters. | 9 | Tensile and Fracture Properties of 15 vol% SiC_p/2009Al Composites Fabricated by Hot Isostatic Pressing and Hot Extrusion Processes显示文摘15 vol% silicon carbide particle(Si Cp)-reinforced 2009 Al matrix(15 vol% Si Cp/2009Al) composites were fabricated by hot isostatic pressing(HIP) and hot extrusion processes. The tensile and fracture properties of 15 vol% Si Cp/2009 Al were studied. The results showed that hot extrusion increased the ultimate tensile strength(UTS), yield strength(YS), elongation(EL), reduction in area(RA), and fracture toughness of the composites. The heat treatment resulted in the increase in UTS, YS, and fracture toughness, but a decrease in EL and RA. Both hot extrusion and heat treatment had negligible effects on elastic modulus(E). With the increase of Si Cpsize, the UTS, YS, and E decreased, but the EL and RA increased. | 10 | Anti-parkinsonian effects of octacosanol in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine-treated mice显示文摘Our previous research showed that octacosanol exerted its protective effects in 6-hydroxydopamine-induced Parkinsonian rats. The goal of this study was to investigate whether octacosanol would attenuate neurotoxicity in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated C57BL/6N mice and its potential mechanism. Behavioral tests, tyrosine hydroxylase immunohistochemistry and western blot were used to investigate the effects of octacosanol in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease. Oral administration of octacosanol (100 mg/kg) significantly improved behavioral impairments in mice treated by MPTP and markedly ameliorated morphological appearances of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neuronal cells in the substantia nigra. Furthermore, octacosanol blocked MPTP-induced phosphorylation of p38MAPK and JNK, but not ERK1/2. These findings implicated that the protective effects afforded by octacosanol might be mediated by blocking the phosphorylation of p38MAPK and JNK on the signal transduction in vivo. | 11 | Evolution of deepwater sedimentary environments and its implication for hydrocarbon exploration in Qiongdongnan Basin, northwestern South China Sea显示文摘Over the past several years, a number of hydrocarbon reservoirs have been discovered in the deepwater area of Qiongdongnan Basin, northwestern South China Sea. These oil/gas fields demonstrate that the evolution of the deepwater sedimentary environment are controlling the formation and distribution of large-scale clastic reservoirs. Integration between seismic and borehole data were necessary to best clarify the distribution and quality of these deepwater reservoirs. Geochemical and paleobiological evidence from discrete samples was also applied to document specific information regarding the sedimentary environment. Results show that the Qiongdongnan Basin has existed as a thriving marine environment since Oligocene, when several rifting depressions developed throughout the entire Qiongdongnan Basin. Triggered by the faults activities, several distinct provenances supplied the coarse sediments, transporting and depositing them in deep parts of the rifting depressions. A fan delta system then formed nearby the source in the deeper area of these rifting depressions. The sedimentary environment of Qiongdongnan gradiationally became deepwater since early Miocene.Consequently, abundances of sediments were transported from Hainan Island and Southern Uplift, and then sunk into the basin center. The submarine fans revealed by many boreholes in this area verified them as good reservoir. Because the area reached its lowest sea level at late Miocene and the Southern Uplift subsidenced under sea level, not providing any sediment, so that the carbonate mesa and biorhythms characteristic of this area also developed during this period. In the west part of Qiongdongnan Basin, sediments transported from Vietnam increased in response to the Tibetan Uplift. Consequently, a central canyon developed along the center of Qiongdongnan Basin, which has been confirmed by several boreholes as a favorable hydrocarbon reservoir. Merr.), grown for its plant oils and proteins, is one of the most important crops throughout the world.Generating stable and heritable transgenic soybeans is relatively inefficient;therefore, there is an urgent need for a simple and high-efficient transient transformation method by which to enable the investigation of gene functions in soybeans, which will facilitate the elucidation and improvement of the molecular mechanisms regulating the associated agronomic traits. We established a system of transient expression in soybean mesophyll protoplasts and obtained a high level of protoplast transfection efficiency(up to 83.5%). | 14 | HTS filter subsystem for future mobile communication system显示文摘A high-temperature superconducting(HTS) filter subsystem consisting of a 10-pole HTS filter with group delay self-equalization,a cryogenic low noise amplifier(LNA) ,and a cooling device is presented in this paper. The HTS filter has a 0.51% fractional bandwidth at 1955 MHz,simulated in Sonnet,and is fabricated using double-sided Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 films on 0.5 mm thick LaAlO3 substrate. Measured responses show that the minimum insertion loss of the filter is 0.16 dB,and the out-of-band rejection is better than 75 dB. The slope is 27 dB MHz-1 at the low band edge and 22 dB MHz-1 at the upper band edge. The HTS filter subsystem has a gain of 19.3 dB and a noise figure(NF) of 0.8 dB. | 15 | Magnified and enhanced computed virtual chromoendoscopy in gastric neoplasia: A feasibility study显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the feasibility of a new computed virtual chromoendoscopy (CVC) device (M i-scan) in the diagnosis of gastric neoplasia. METHODS: Patients with superficial lesions no larger than 1.0 cm found during high definition endoscopy were included. Those with advanced or obviously protruded or depressed lesions, lesions larger than 1.0 cm and/or lesions which were not amenable to observation by zoom function were excluded. The endoscopist was required to give the real-time descriptions of surface pit patterns of the lesions, based on surface pattern classification of enhanced magnification endoscopy. According to previous reports, types Ⅰ-Ⅲ represent nonneoplastic lesions, and types Ⅳ-Ⅴ represent neoplastic lesions. Diagnosis with M i-scan and biopsy was performed before histopathological diagnosis. Magnified images of gastric lesions with and without enhancement were collected for further analysis. The diagnostic yield of real-time M i-scan and effects on magnification image quality by tone enhancement (TE), surface enhancement (SE) and color enhancement (CE) were calculated. The selected images were sent to another endoscopist. The endoscopist rated the image quality of each lesion at 3 levels. Ratings of image quality were based on visualization of pit pattern, vessel and demarcation line. RESULTS: One hundred and eighty-three patients were recruited. Five patients were excluded for advanced gastric lesions, 1 patient was excluded for poor preparation and 2 patients were excluded for superficial lesions larger than 1.0 cm; 132 patients were excluded for no lesions found by high definition endoscopy. In the end, 43 patients with 43 lesions were included. Histopathology revealed 10 inflammation, 14 atrophy, 10 metaplasia, 1 low grade dysplasia (LGD), 5 high grade dysplasia (HGD) and 3 cancers. For 7 lesions classified into type Ⅰ, histopathology revealed 6 atrophy and 1 metaplasia; for 10 lesions classified into type Ⅱ, histopathology revealed 2 inflammation, 7 atrophy and 1 metaplasia; for 10 lesions classified into type Ⅲ, histopathology revealed 1 inflammation, 8 metaplasia and 1 LGD; for 9 lesions classified into type Ⅳ, histopathology revealed 4 inflammation, 1 atrophy and 4 HGD; for 7 lesions classified into type Ⅴ, histopathology revealed 3 inflammation, 1 HGD and 3 cancers. A total of 172 still images, including 43 images by white light (MWL) and 129 images by M i-scan (43 with TE, 43 with SE and 43 with CE), were selected and sent to the endoscopist who did the analysis. General image quality of M i-scan with TE and SE was significantly better than that of MWL (TE, 4.55 ± 1.07; SE, 4.30 ± 1.02; MWL, 3.25 ± 0.99; P < 0.001). Visualization of pit pattern was significantly improved by M i-scan with SE (1.93 ± 0.25 vs 1.50 ± 0.50, P < 0.001). Microvessel visualization was significantly improved by M i-scan with TE (1.23 ± 0.78 vs 0.76 ± 0.73, P < 0.001). Demarcation line visualization was improved by M i-scan with both TE and SE (TE, 1.75 ± 0.52; SE, 1.56 ± 0.59; MWL, 0.98 ± 0.44; P < 0.001). M i-scan with CE did not show any significant improvements of image quality in general or in the 3 key parameters. Although M i-scan with TE and SE slightly increased the diagnostic yield of MWL, there was no significant difference (P > 0.1). | 16 | Effects of Ligustrum robustum on gut microbes and obesity in rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate the anti-obesity and antibacterial effects of Ligustrum robustum(L. robustum) in vivoand in vitro and its possible mechanisms. METHODS: The effects of L. robustum aqueous extract(LR) on various gut bacteria in vitro were evaluated. The effects of LR on high-fat diet-fed(HFD) rats in vivo were also assessed. Culture methods,quantitative polymerase chain reaction,and terminalrestriction fragment length polymorphism were used to analyze the effects of LR on gut bacteria. Biochemical tests were also performed to detect the changes in obesity-related indicators after LR treatment. RESULTS: LR treatment lowered adipose weight and decreased Lee's index,blood glucose,total cholesterol,and lipid in the tested groups relative to control(P < 0.05). To determine the reasons for these changes,we assessed the potential bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects of LR on specific bacterial species in vitro. LR affected the richness,diversity,and evenness of gut bacteria,increased fecal Lactobacillus,and decreased Enterococci in HFD rats(P < 0.05). | 18 | The efficacy and safety of nimodipine in acute ischemic stroke patients with mild cognitive impairment: a double-blind, randomized,placebo-controlled trial显示文摘Nimodipine might be effective in subcortical vascular dementia(VaD). Its benefit in preventing further cognitive decline in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS) and vascular mild cognitive impairment(VaMCI) remains to be established. In this multicenter, double-blind trial, we randomly assigned 654 eligible patients to nimodipine 30 mg three times a day or placebo. The primary outcome was any cognitive decline defined by the changes on the Mini-Mental State Examination(DMMSE à3) or vascular AD assessment scale cognitive subscale(DADAS-cog ! 4) at 6 months. Secondary outcomes included any distribution shift of DADAS-cog, DMMSE or cognitive improvement defined by DADAS-cog à2, or DMMSE ! 0. The primary outcome in the nimodipine group and placebo group were similar for DMMSE à3(4.18% and 7.22%, respectively, P = 0.15) and DADAS-cog ! 4(8.36% and 8.93% respectively,P = 0.88). The distribution shift of DADAS-cog and DMMSE differed significantly between the two groups(P = 0.03 and P = 0.05 respectively). Cognitive improvement occurred in 55.4% in the nimodipine group and 43.6% in the placebo group measured by DADAS-cog à2(Odds Ratio, 1.54; 95% confidence interval[CI] 1.10–2.14, P < 0.01) or 84.0% and 74.6% respectively by DMMSE ! 0(Odds Ratio, 1.79; 95% CI 1.18–2.70, P < 0.01). Nimodipine was associated with better cognitive function in the memory domain. The adverse events rate was similar in two groups. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov,NCT01220622. | 19 | Hyponymy Graph Model for Word Semantic Similarity Measurement显示文摘Measuring word semantic similarity is a generic problem with a broad range of applications such as ontology mapping, computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. Previous approaches to computing word semantic similarity did not consider concept occurrence frequency and word's sense number. This paper introduced Hyponymy graph, and based on which proposed a novel word semantic similarity model. For two words to be compared, we first retrieve their related concepts; then produce lowest common ancestor matrix and distance matrix between concepts; finally calculate distance-based similarity and information-based similarity, which are integrated to get final semantic similarity. The main contribution of our method is that both concept occurrence frequency and word's sense number are taken into account. This similarity measurement more closely fits with human rating and effectively simulates human thinking process. | 20 | Argininosuccinate synthase 1 suppresses cancer cell invasion by inhibiting STAT3 pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Metastasis is the main reason for high recurrence and poor survival of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The molecular mechanism underlying HCC metastasis remains unclear.In this study,we found that argininosuccinate synthase 1(ASS1)expression was significantly decreased and down-regulation of ASS1 was closely correlated with poor prognosis in HCC patients.DNA methylation led to the down-regulation of ASS1 in HCC.Stable silencing of ASS1 promoted migration and invasion of HCC cells,whereas overexpression of ASS1-inhibited metastasis of HCC cells in vivo and in vitro.We also revealed that ASS1-knockdown increased the phosphorylation level of S727STAT3,which contributed to HCC metastasis by up-regulation of inhibitor of differentiation 1(ID1).These findings indicate that ASS1 inhibits HCC metastasis and may serve as a target for HCC diagnosis and treatment. | Xuemei Tao Qiaozhu Zuo Haoyu Ruan Hui Wang Haojie Jin Zhuoan Cheng Yuanyuan Lv Wenxin Qin Cun Wang | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,3: | 4 |
