1Effects of Bacillus coagulans supplementation on the growth performance and gut health of broiler chickens with Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis显示文摘Background: The poultry industry is in need of effective antibiotic alternatives to control outbreaks of necrotic enteritis(NE) due to Clostridium perfringens.Methods: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding Bacil us coagulans on the growth performance and gut health of broiler chickens with C. perfringens-induced NE. Two hundred and forty 1-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with two dietary B. coagulans levels(0 or 4 × 109 CFU/kg of diet) and two disease chal enge statuses(control or NE chal enged).Results: NE-induced reduction in body weight gain was relieved by the addition of B. coagulans into broiler diets compared with the NE-infected birds. NE infection damaged intestinal morphological structure, promoted intestinal C.perfringens growth and liver invasion, and enhanced anti-C. perfringens specific sI gA concentrations in the gut and specific IgG levels in serum compared with the uninfected birds. NE infection significantly(P < 0.05) decreased mucin-2(at 14 d post-infection(DPI), tol-like receptor 2(TLR2, at 7 and 14 DPI), TLR4(at 7 and 14 DPI), tumor necrosis factor super family15(TNFSF15, at 7 and 14 DPI), lysozyme(LYZ, at 14 DPI) and fowlicidin-2(at 7 and 14 DPI) mR NA levels, whereas it dramatical y(P = 0.001) increased IFN-γ mR NA levels at 7 DPI. However, chal enged birds fed diets supplemented with B.coagulans showed a significant(P < 0.01) decrease in gut lesion scores, decreased C. perfringens numbers in the cecum and liver, and an increase in fowlicidin-2 mR NA levels in compared with the uninfected birds. In addition, compared with the non-supplemented group, dietary inclusion of B. coagulans improved intestinal barrier structure, further increased specific sI gA levels and alkaline phosphatase(IAP) activity in the jejunum, enhanced the expression of jejunum lysozyme mR NA, and inhibited the growth, colonization, and invasion of C. perfringens; in contrast, it reduced serum-specific IgG concentrations and jejunum IFN-γ mR NA levels.Conclusion: These results indicated that dietary B. coagulans supplementation appeared to be effective in preventing the occurrence and reducing the severity of C. perfringens-induced NE in broiler chickens.Yuanyuan Wu Yujing Shao Bochen Song Wenrui Zhen Zhong Wang Yuming Guo Muhammad Suhaib Shahid Wei Nie 2018Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2018,9,2:31
2Apoptosis,antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of phytochemicals from Garcinia malaccensis Hk.f显示文摘Objective:To study the chemical constituents of stembark of Garcinia malaccenm(G.malaccenm) together with apoptotic.antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.Methods:Purification and structure elucidation were carried out by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, respectively.MTT and trypan blue exclusion methods were performed to study the cytotoxic activity.Antibacterial activity was conducted by dise diffusion and microdilulion methods, whereas antioxidant activities were done by ferric thiocyanate method and DPPH radical scavenging.Results:The phylochemical study led lo the isolation ofα,β-mangostin and cycloarl-24-en-3β-ol.α-Mangostin exhibited cytotoxic activity against HSC-3 cells with an IC50 of 0.33μM.β- andα-mangostin showed activity against K562 cells with IC50 of 0.40μM and 0.48μM,respectively,α-Mangostin was active against Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) and Bacilus anthracis(B.anthmcis) with inhibition zone and MIC value of(19 mm;0.02S mg/mL) and(20 mm;0.013 mg/mL),respectively.In antioxidant assay,α-mangostin exhibited activity as an inhibitor of lipid peroxidation.Conclusions:G.malaccenm presenceα- andβ-mangostin and cycloart-24-en-3β-ol.β-Mangostin was found very active against H.SC-3 cells and KS62.The results suggest that mangoslins derivatives have the potential to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis.In addition,α-andβ-mangostin was found inhibit the growth of Cram-positive pathogenic bacteria and also showed the activity as an inhibitor of lipid peroxidation.Muhammad Taher Deny Susanti Mohamad Fazlin Rezali Farah Syahidah Ahmad Zohri Solachuddin Jauhari Arief Ichwan Suhaib Ibrahim Alkhamaiseh Farediah Ahmad 2012Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,2:5
3Effects of age on immune function in broiler chickens显示文摘Background:There are many diseases in poultry,many of which are caused by poor immune function.It is not clear how cytokines and various immune cell functions change with age in modern broilers.The purpose of this study was to explore the patterns of development of the immunity of the broiler chickens in cage.Results:The results showed that there were 3 development patterns of immunity in the broiler chickens.The first pattern was Down-Up.Cytokines and some immune indicators first decreased and then increased,and the lowest levels of immunity basically occurred from d 6 to 13.The second pattern was Up-Down,and from d 30 to 34,the highest levels of non-specific cellular immunity components,such as the peripheral blood mononuclear macrophage ratio,specific cellular immunity components,such as the peripheral blood helper T(Th)cell ratio and T cell and B cell proliferation activity,and mucosal immunity components,such as the ileal CD4,TGF-β1 and IgA mRNA levels,were observed.The third pattern was Up-Up,and the levels of the non-specific cellular immunity components,such as the serum nitric oxide(NO),C3 and C4 levels,the specific cellular immunity components,such as the spleen index,peripheral blood IL-2,IFN-γ/IL-4,cytotoxic T(Tc)cell ratio,and splenic NF-κB mRNA levels,the humoral immunity components,such as the serum IgG level,the mucosal immunity components,such as the ileal MHC-II,CD3d,TCRβsubunit,TCRζsubunit,IFN-γ,pIgR mRNA and ileal mucosa sIgA levels,were continuing to increase from d 1 to 34.Conclusions:It could be concluded that the immune system and its function have not developed well in the broiler chickens d 6 to 13 and that the immune system does not mature until d 30 to 34 in the broiler chickens in cages.It is necessary to enhance the immune function of the broiler chickens through nutritional measures from d 1 to 30.Bochen Song Dazhi Tang Shaojia Yan Hao Fan Guang Li Muhammad Suhaib Shahid Tahir Mahmood Yuming Guo 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,4:3

16Thermal Conductivity of Room Temperature Deep Eutectic Solvents显示文摘As deep eutectic solvents(DESs)became a prevalent category of materials,reporting their physical and chemical properties turned to be urgent.In this work,a database of the thermal conductivity of 39 DESs was experimentally investigated in a temperature range of 25℃to 60℃,since this property was not broadly reported yet.Knowing the thermal conductivity is a significant approach to obtain the fluids'heat transfer coefficients,which are essential for fluid heat transfer applications and equipment design.The selection of the reported DESs was based on their liquid phase status at room temperature and commonness.Herein,the thermal conductivity was studied as a function of temperature and compositions.Also,the data were fit with the conventional equations to predict the thermal conductivity value at a certain temperature.The highest R^(2) was selected to identify the best behavior with the common types of equations.It was found that the thermal conductivity reduced by raising the temperature,which was attributed to the enhancement that occurred in electrons'randomness and reduction in electrons'free motion.Furthermore,as the temperature rises up,the density decreases,and molecular distance increases.DESs contained choline chloride showed higher thermal conductivity stability than other DESs.While an opposite scenario was noticed for glycerol and ethylene glycol DESs due to the possibility of generating water.ALBAYATI Noor KADHOM Mohammed ABDULLAH Ghassan SALIH Suhaib 2021Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,6:0
17Predictive value of Hajibandeh index in determining peritoneal contamination in acute abdomen:A cohort study and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Hajibandeh index(HI),derived from combined levels of C-reactive protein,lactate,neutrophils,lymphocytes and albumin,is a modern predictor of peritoneal contamination and mortality in patients with acute abdominal pathology.AIM To validate the performance of HI in predicting the presence and nature of peritoneal contamination in patients with acute abdominal pathology in a larger cohort study and to synthesis evidence in a systematic review and meta-analysis.METHODS The STROBE guidelines and the PRISMA statement standards were followed to conduct a cohort study(ChiCTR2200056183)and a meta-analysis(CRD420-22306018),respectively.All adult patients undergoing emergency laparotomy for acute abdominal pathology were eligible.The accuracy of the HI was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis in the cohort study and using weighted summary area under the curve(AUC)under the fixed and random effects modelling in the meta-analysis.The Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies 2 criteria were used for methodological quality assessment of the included studies.RESULTS A total of 1437 patients were included(700 from the cohort study and 737 from the literature search).ROC curve analysis of the cohort study showed that the AUC of HI for presence of contamination,purulent contamination and feculent contamination were 0.79[95%confidence interval(CI):0.76-0.82,P<0.0001],0.76(95%CI:0.72-0.80,P<0.0001),and 0.83(95%CI:0.79-0.86,P<0.0001),respectively.The meta-analysis showed that the pooled AUC of HI for presence of contamination,purulent contamination and feculent contamination were 0.79(95%CI:0.75-0.83),0.78(95%CI:0.74-0.81),and 0.80(95%CI:0.77-0.83),respectively.CONCLUSION The HI is a strong and accurate predictor of intraperitoneal contamination.Although the available evidence is robust,it is limited to the studies conducted by our evidence synthesis group.We encourage other researchers to validate performance of HI in predicting the presence of intraperitoneal contamination and more importantly in predicting mortality following emergency laparotomy.Shahab Hajibandeh Shahin Hajibandeh Louis Evans Bethany Miller Jennifer Waterman Suhaib JS Ahmad Jay Hale Adnan Higgi Bethan Johnson Dafydd Pearce Ahmed Hazem Helmy Nader Naguib Andrew Maw 2023World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2023,15,12:0
18pplications of the One Health concept:Current status in the Middle East显示文摘Background:The One Health concept(OHC)seeks to improve the health of plants,animals,and humans because improving animal and plant health will increase the capacity for improving human health.Many risks such as plant and animal biotechnology applications have the potential to generate new diseases that can be transmitted to humans.In this way,the health of humans,animals,and plants is interrelated and depends on one another.However,it has been difficult to apply the OHC in some countries,such as those in the Middle East.The absence of financial support in the region is a major hindrance to applying this concept in the region.The application of the OHC requires the support of specialists who can advocate the government for support in launching OHC-related projects.Here,we discuss the OHC in the context of antimicrobial resistance,zoonotic diseases,and biosafety/biosecurity,which are important public health issues.Furthermore,we describe the current status of the OHC in the Middle East and recent research conducted related to this concept.There has been recent international solidarity in the application of the OHC to reduce risks that threaten the health of organisms.Several countries jointly launched the Global Health Security Agenda in 2014 with the aim of realizing a world that is free of infectious disease-related health risks.However,no previous review articles have examined the applications of the OHC in the Middle East region.This article discusses the OHC in terms of its needs and current applications in the Middle East.Methodology:The following keywords were used in the search:“One Health,”“Middle East,”“medicinal plants,”“viruses,”“rabies,”“MERS,”and“antimicrobial resistance.”Related papers were obtained by searching for these keywords using available search engines,such as PubMed,Google Scholar,and Google search,as well as international organization websites.Conclusion:The concept of One Health is relatively new and has not been applied in most countries,possibly because the value of this concept for improving human health is not well understood.The key principle defining this concept and its importance is the interdependency of plants,animals,and human health.By applying the OHC,humans can benefit from healthy plants and animals by enhancing their growing conditions,medications,and environments.This would in turn improve general human health by allowing the safe extraction of therapeutics and food resources.Laith AL-Eitan Suhaib Sendyani Malek Alnemri 2023Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2023,5,1:0
19Observer-based event-triggered networked multi-drives speed consensus显示文摘The problem of having an identical speed when dealing with multiple motors always exists in the industry.There are several methods to address the problem,but all the methodologies have two common drawbacks.Firstly,the control design requires continuous information on the desired speed and the actual speed of motors;secondly,it is sometimes difficult to directly measure the speed variables.In the proposed study,both of these drawbacks are addressed by designing an observer-based event-triggered networked multi-agent system.The proposed method uses the leader following consensus approach with a centralized event triggering control design so that whenever a follower's speed diverges from that of the leader,an event is triggered,which communicates and resets all the agents to the leader's speed.Moreover,an observer is designed such that the ith agent uses its jth neighbor agent and observer speed information to estimate the leader's speed.The stability of the proposed design is formulated by Lyapunov stability,while the simulation results endorse the design concepts and energy saving.Suhaib Masroor Chen Peng 2022Digital Communications and Networks2022,8,5:0
