1Relationship between plasma D(-)-lactate and intestinal damage after severe injuries in rats显示文摘AIM To explore the kinetic changes in plasma D (-)lactate and lipopolysaccharide ( LPS ) levels, and investigate whether D (-)-lactate could be used as a marker of intestinal injury in rats following gut ischemia/reperfusion, burn, and acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP).METHODS Three models were developed in rats:gut ischemia/reperfusion obtained by one hour of superior severe burn injury created by 30% of total body surface induced by continuous inverse infusion of sodium taurocholate and trypsin into main pancreatic duct.Plasma levels of D( - )-lactate in systemic circulation and LPS in portal circulation were measured by enzymaticspectrophotometric method and limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) test kit, respectively. Tissue samples of intestine were taken for histological analysis.RESULTS One hour gut ischemia followed by reperfusion injuries resulted in a significant elevation in plasma D( - )lactate and LPS levels, and there was a significant correlation between the plasma D( - )-lactate and LPS (r =0.719, P<0.05). The plasma concentrations of D(-)lactate and LPS increased significantly at 6 h postburn,and there was also a remarkable correlation between them (r = 0.877, P < 0.01). D ( - )-lactate and LPS levels elevated significantly at 2 h after ANP, with a similar significant correlation between the two levels (r-0.798,P < 0.01 ). The desquamation of intestine villi and infiltration of inflammatory cells in the lamina propria were observed in all groups.CONCLUSION The changes of plasma D( - )-lactate levels in systemic blood paralleled with LPS levels in the portal vein blood. 2Concurrent chemoradiotherapy combined with enteral nutrition support:a radical treatment strategy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients with malignant istulae显示文摘Background: Concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT) significantly increases the survival rate of esophageal squa?mous cell carcinoma(ESCC) patients with malignant fistulae. Recent clinical evidence has shown the benefits of enteral nutrition for malnourished cancer patients. In this study, we aimed to validate that, with the support of enteral nutrition, ESCC patients who develop malignant fistulae might be able to complete CCRT and achieve long?term survival.Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 652 patients with ESCC who received definitive CCRT at Sun Yat?sen University Cancer Center between January 2010 and December 2012. Treatment outcome and toxicity were ret?rospectively evaluated in 40 ESCC patients with malignant fistulae. All the 40 patients were treated with CCRT and evaluated by clinical nutritionists using nutrition risk screening(NRS) before, during, and after treatment. Twenty?two patients received a nasogastric tube, and 18 underwent percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy feeding. The median energy intake was 2166 kcal/day. Treatment response was evaluated at 3 months after the completion of CCRT.Results: With a median follow?up of 18 months(range, 3–39 months), patients' 1?year overall survival(OS) rate was 62.5%, and the estimated OS time was 25.5 months. Univariate analysis showed that the NRS score(P n NRS score(P se to treatment(P < 0.001) were sig= 0.003), increase i= 0.024), fistula closure(P = 0.011), and responnifi?cantly associated with OS. Multivariate analysis showed that tumor response(P = 0.044) and increase in NRS score(P = 0.044) were independent predictors of OS. Grade 3 vomiting was observed in 8 patients(20.0%), grade 3 neutro?penia was observed in 11 patients(27.5%), and grade 3 cough was observed in 13 patients(32.5%); 2 patients(5.0%) died of massive bleeding during treatment.Conclusions: CCRT combined with enteral nutrition support is effective for ESCC patients with malignant fistulae. Patients have an increased potential to be cured, especially those who experience complete response and have an increase in NRS score. 3Multiple Risk Factor Clustering and Risk of Hypertension in the Mongolian Ethnic Population of China显示文摘Objective To evaluate whether the clustering of risk factors, both environmental and genetic, increases the risk of essential hypertension (EH) and the accumulation of risk factors influences the blood pressure level in normotensives. Methods On the basis of a prevalence survey, 501 subjects of Mongolian ethnicity (243 hypertensives and 258 normotensives) who were not related to each other were selected to conduct a case-control study. All subjects were interviewed with questionnaires and their blood specimens were collected. Renin gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism, a new genetic marker, was genotyped with PCR and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Results Overweight, alcohol consumption, and renin gene I/D polymorphism were significant risk factors of EH (P<0.05). The odds ratios (OR) for the number of risk factors were 2.39 (95%CI: 0.98-6.74) for one risk factor, 5.03 (95%CI: 2.06-14.18) for two, and 6.09 (95%CI: 1.85-22.38) for three respectively after adjusting for age and sex. In normotensives, age- and sex-adjusted mean blood pressures increased with more accumulation of risk factors. However, there were no significant differences among the different blood pressure levels according to the number of risk factors (P>0.05). Conclusion Overweight, alcohol consumption, and renin gene I/D polymorphism are risk factors of EH in the Mongolian ethnic population of China. 4Modeling CADASIL vascular pathologies with patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells显示文摘Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy(CADASIL)is a rare hereditary cerebrovascular disease caused by a NOTCH3 mutation.However,the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms remain unidentified.Here,we generated non-integrative induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)from fibroblasts of a CADASIL patient harboring a heterozygous NOTCH3 mutation(c.3226C>T,p.R1076C).Vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)differentiated from CADASIL-specific iPSCs showed gene expression changes associated with disease phenotypes,including activation of the NOTCH and NF-kB signaling pathway,cytoskeleton disorganization,and excessive cell proliferation.In comparison,these abnormalities were not observed in vascular endothelial cells(VECs)derived from the patients iPSCs.Importantly,the abnormal upregulation of NF-kB target genes in CADASIL VSMCs was diminished by a NOTCH pathway inhibitor,providing a potential therapeutic strategy for CADASIL.Overall,using this iPSCbased disease model,our study identified clues for studying the pathogenic mechanisms of CADASIL and developing treatment strategies for this disease.Chen Ling Zunpeng Liu Moshi Song Weiqi Zhang Si Wang Xiaoqian Liu Shuai Ma Shuhui Sun Lina Fu Qun Chu Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte Zhaoxia Wang Jing Qu Yun Yuan Guang-Hui Liu 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,4:7
5Review of cylinder block/valve plate interface in axial piston pumps: Theoretical models,experimental investigations, and optimal design显示文摘Axial piston pumps have been widely used in aircraft hydraulic systems to supply the system with pressurized fluid. The continuous improvement of the aircraft performance has put forward the demand on aviation piston pumps for high power density, safety, and reliability. The lubricating interfaces in axial piston machines are the key design issue that greatly determines the pump performance and service life. The cylinder block/valve plate interface is one of these critical lubricating interfaces and has received considerable attention from many researchers in the last half century. This study aims to review the state-of-the-art literature on the cylinder block/valve plate interface comprehensively and systematically. First, we introduce various theoretical models developed to investigate the lubrication behaviors of the interface and compare them in terms of their assumptions and limitations. Second, the experimental studies on the cylinder block/valve plate interface are presented comprehensively, where the involved test rigs are divided into three types according to their fidelity levels and measurement functionality. Third, we summarize some typical approaches of structure optimization, surface shaping, and surface strengthening, which help improve the load-carrying and anti-wear capacities of the interface under severe operating conditions. 61-Naphthol induced PtsAg nanocorals as bifunctional cathode and anode catalysts of direct formic acid fuel cells显示文摘Developing highly efficient bifunctional cathode and anode electrocatalysts is very important for the large-scale application of direct formic acid fuel cells. However, the high-cost and poor CO-tolera nee ability of the most commonly used Pt greatly block this process. To in crease the utilizatio n efficie ncy and exte nd bifunctional properties of precious Pt, herei n, coral-like Pt3Ag nano crystals are developed as an excelle nt bifunctional electrocatalyst through a facile one-pot solvothermal method. The formation mechanism of Ptgg nanocorals has been elaborated well via a series of control experiments. It is proved that 1-naphthol serving as a guiding surfactant plays a key role in the formation of high-quality nano corals. Thanks to the unique coral-like structure and alloy effects, the developed Ptgg nano corals present sign ificantly enhanced electrocatalytic properties (including activity, stability and CO-toleranee ability) towards both the cathodic oxygen reduction and anodic formic acid oxidati on, as compared with those of commercial Pt black and Pt-based nan oparticles. 7Distribution control and formation mechanism of gas inclusions in directionally solidified Al2O3-Er3Al5O12-ZrO2 ternary eutectic ceramic by laser floating zone melting显示文摘Distribution control and formation mechanism of gas inclusions formed in directionally solidified Al2O3-Er3Al5O12-ZrO2 eutectic ceramic rods are explored during laser floating zone melting. In atmospheric environment, highly-dense bubble-free eutectic rods are well fabricated at low solidification rate(<25μm/s). Gas inclusions form intermittently when the solidification rate is in the range of 25-50 μm/s,but produce continuously at higher solidification rates(100-200 μm/s). The gas inclusions exhibit an elongated finger-like pattern along the growth direction, which of the maximum value of diameter first increases and then decreases with increasing the solidification rate. Meanwhile, the volume fraction of gas inclusions increased gradually with the solidification rate. 8Mitochondrial variants may influence the phenotypic manifestation of Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy-associated ND4 G11778A mutation显示文摘We report here the characterization of a five-generation Han Chinese family with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy(LHON).Strikingly,this Chinese family displayed high penetrance and expressivity of visual loss.The average age-of-onset of vision loss was 18 years in this family.Nineteen(11 males/8 females) of 29 matrilineal relatives in this family developed visual loss with a wide range of severity,ranging from blindness to normal vision.Sequence analysis of mitochondrial genome in this pedigree revealed the presence of the ND4 G11778A mutation and 44 other variants belonging to Asian haplogroup M7b.The G11778A mutation is present at homoplasmy in matrilineal relatives of this Chinese family.Of other variants,the CO1 G6480A,ND5 T12811C and Cytb A15395G located at highly conserved residues of corresponding polypeptides.In fact,these variants were implicated to be involved in other clinical abnormalities.Here,these variants may act in synergy with the primary LHON-associated G11778A mutation.Thus,the mitochondrial dysfunction caused by the primary ND4 G11778A mutation may be worsened by these mitochondrial variants.The results imply that the G6480A,T12811C and A15395G variants might have a potential modifier role in increasing the penetrance and expressivity of the primary LHON-associated G11778A mutation in this Chinese family.Wanshi Cai Qun Fu Xiangtian Zhou Jia Qu Yi Tong Min-Xin Guan 2008Journal of Genetics and Genomics2008,35,11:4

11Role of Diabetes Mellitus on Treatment Effects in Drug-susceptible Initial Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients in China显示文摘We assessed the role of diabetes mellitus(DM) on treatment effects in drug‐susceptible initial pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) patients. A prospective study was conducted in eight provinces of China from October 2008 to December 2010. We enrolled 1,313 confirmed drug‐susceptible initial PTB patients, and all subjects received the treatment regimen(2 H3 R3 E3 Z3/4 H3 R3) as recommended by the national guidelines. Of the 1,313 PTB patients, 157(11.9%) had DM; these patients had more sputum smear‐positive rates at the end of the second month [adjusted odds ratios(aO R) 2.829, 95% confidence intervals(CI) 1.783‐4.490], and higher treatment failure(aO R 2.120, 95% CI 1.565‐3.477) and death rates(aO R 1.536, 95% CI 1.011‐2.628). 12Neural-network-based Power System State Estimation with Extended Observability显示文摘This paper proposes a neural-network-based state estimation(NNSE)method that aims to achieve higher time efficiency,improved robustness against noise,and extended observability when compared with the conventional weighted least squares(WLS)state estimation method.NNSE consists of two parts,the linear state estimation neural network(LSE-net)and the unobservable state estimation neural network(USE-net).The LSE-net functions as an adaptive approximator of linear state estimation(LSE)equations to estimate the nominally observable states.The inputs of LSE-net are the vectors of synchrophasors while the outputs are the estimated states.The USE-net operates as the complementary estimator on the nominally unobservable states.The inputs are the estimated observable states from LSE-net while the outputs are the estimation of nominally unobservable states.USE-net is trained off-line to approximate the veiled relationship between observable states and unobservable states.Two test cases are conducted to validate the performance of the proposed approach.The first case,which is based on the IEEE 118-bus system,shows the comprehensive performance of convergence,accuracy,and robustness of the proposed approach.The second case study adopts real-world synchrophasor measurements,and is based on the Jiangsu power grid,which is one of the largest provincial power systems in China.Guanyu Tian Yingzhong Gu Di Shi Jing Fu Zhe Yu Qun Zhou 2021Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2021,9,5:3
13Progress and prospects of horizontal well fracturing technology for shale oil and gas reservoirs显示文摘By systematically summarizing horizontal well fracturing technology abroad for shale oil and gas reservoirs since the “13th Five-Year Plan”, this article elaborates new horizontal well fracturing features in 3D development of stacked shale reservoirs, small well spacing and dense well pattern, horizontal well re-fracturing, fracturing parameters optimization and cost control. In light of requirements on horizontal well fracturing technology in China, we have summarized the technological progress in simulation of multi-fracture propagation, horizontal well frac-design, electric-drive fracturing equipment, soluble tools and low-cost downhole materials and factory-like operation. 14Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with acute leukemia显示文摘Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the efficacy of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for acute leukemia (AL) and analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of these patients. Methods: The clinical and follow-up data of 93 AL patients (median age, 30 years) undergoing allogeneic HSCT in Xiangya Hospital over the past 12 years were collected, and the potential factors affecting the efficacy and prognosis of allogeneic HSCT patients were determined. Results: Hematopoietic reconstitution was achieved in 90 patients. At the last follow-up, the incidences of severe acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD) and extensive chronic GvHD (cGvHD) were 14.0% and 20.0%, the 3-year cumulative incidence of transplantation related mortality (TRM) and relapse rate were 16.8%±6.1% and 21.3%±6.7%, and the estimated 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of the patients were 64.6%±5.4% and 56.5%±5.5%, respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, and severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation were risk factors for severe aGvHD, age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation, and severe aGvHD were risk factors for TRM, high-risk AL and lack of cGvHD were risk factors for relapse (all P<0.05). Survival estimation showed that HLA mismatch, severe lung infection occurring within the first 100 days post-transplantation, high-risk AL severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were risk factors associated with poor prognosis (all P<0.05). Further multivariate analyses revealed that severe lung infection within the first 100 days post-transplantation, severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were independent risk factors for unfavorable outcomes (all P<0.05). 15Dietary Behaviors and Influencing Factors among Rural Left-behind Children Aged below 7 Years in China显示文摘Left-behind children comprise a special population in Chinese rural areas. According to the 2007 China Census, the number of left-behind children aged ≤ 14 years was estimated at 58 million, which suggested that these children constituted a large population, especially in Chinese rural areas[1]. Till date, only a few studies have investigated the problems of dietary behaviors in rural left-behind children. A pilot study indicated that approximately 50% of left-behind children in Chinese rural areas had poor dietary behaviors[2]. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of research with large sample sizes that could reveal the actual background of dietary behaviors in these children. 17Synthesis and Characterization of Sulfonated Polyphosphazene-graft-Polystyrene Copolymers for Proton Exchange Membranes显示文摘A novel series of polyphosphazene-graft-polystyrene(PP-g-PS) copolymers were successfully prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) of styrene monomers and brominated poly(bis(4-methylphenoxy)phosphazene) macroinitiator. The graft density and the graft length could be regulated by changing the bromination degree of the macroinitiator and the ATRP reaction time, respectively. The PP-g-PS copolymers readily underwent a regioselective sulfonation reaction, which occurred preferentially at the polystyrene sites, producing the sulfonated PP-g-PS copolymers with a range of ion exchange capacities. The resulting sulfonated PP-g-PS membranes prepared by solution casting showed high water uptake, low water swelling and considerable proton conductivity. They also exhibited good oxidative stability and high resistance to methanol crossover. Morphological studies of the membranes by transmission electron microscopy showed clear nanophase-separated structures resulted from hydrophobic polyphosphazene backbone and hydrophilic polystyrene sulfonic acid segments, indicating the formation of proton transferring tunnels. 18Design of Self‑Reconfigurable Multiarm Robot Mechanism Based on Deployable Kinematic Chains显示文摘As the structures of multiarm robots are serially arranged,the packaging and transportation of these robots are often inconvenient.The ability of these robots to operate objects must also be improved.Addressing this issue,this paper presents a type of multiarm robot that can be adequately folded into a designed area.The robot can achieve different operation modes by combining different arms and objects.First,deployable kinematic chains(DKCs)are designed,which can be folded into a designated area and be used as an arm structure in the multiarm robot mechanism.The strategy of a platform for storing DKCs is proposed.Based on the restrictions in the storage area and the characteristics of parallel mechanisms,a class of DKCs,called base assembly library,is obtained.Subsequently,an assembly method for the synthesis of the multiarm robot mechanism is proposed,which can be formed by the connection of a multiarm robot mechanism with an operation object based on a parallel mechanism structure.The formed parallel mechanism can achieve a reconfigurable characteristic when different DKCs connect to the operation object.Using this method,two types of multiarm robot mechanisms with four DKCs that can switch operation modes to perform different tasks through autonomous combination and release operation is proposed.The obtained mechanisms have observable advantages when compared with the traditional mechanisms,including optimizing the occupied volume during transportation and using parallel mechanism theory to analyze the switching of operation modes.Fu‑Qun Zhao Sheng Guo Hai‑Jun Su Hai‑Bo Qu Ya‑Qiong Chen 2020Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2020,33,5:2
