| 4 | Effects of particle size on crushing and deformation behaviors of rockfill materials显示文摘Strength and deformation behaviors of rockfill materials,key factors for determining the stability of dams,pertain strongly to the grain crushing characteristics.In this study,single-particle crushing tests were carried out on rockfill materials with nominal particle diameters of 2.5 mm,5 mm and 10 mm to investigate the particle size effect on the single-particle strength and the relationship between the characteristic stress and probability of non-failure.Test data were found to be described by the Weibull distribution with the Weibull modulus of 3.24.Assemblies with uniform nominal grains were then subjected to one-dimensional compression tests at eight levels of vertical stress with a maximum of 100 MPa.The yield stress in one-dimensional compression tests increased with decreasing the particle size,which could be estimated from the single-particle crushing tests.The void ratio-vertical stress curve could be predicted by an exponential function.The particle size distribution curve increased obviously with applied stresses less than 16 MPa and gradually reached the ultimate fractal grading.The relative breakage index became constant with stress up to 64 MPa and was obtained from the ultimate grading at the fractal dimension(a?2:7).A hyperbolical function was also found useful for describing the relationship between the relative breakage index and input work during one-dimensional compression tests. | Yang Xiao Minqiang Meng Ali Daouadji Qingsheng Chen ZhijunWu Xiang Jiang | 2020 | Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,2: | 17 |

| 8 | Genetic algorithms for determining the parameters of cellular automata in urban simulation显示文摘This paper demonstrates that cellular automata(CA) can be a useful tool for analyzing the process of many geographical phenomena.There are many studies on using CA to simulate the evolution of cites.Urban dynamics is determined by many spatial variables.The contribution of each spatial variable to the simulation is quantified by its parameter or weight.Calibration procedures are usually required for obtaining a suitable set of parameters so that the realistic urban forms can be simulated.Each pa-rameter has a unique role in controlling urban morphology in the simulation.In this paper,these pa-rameters for urban simulation are determined by using empirical data.Genetic algorithms are used to search for the optimal combination of these parameters.There are spatial variations for urban dynam-ics in a large region.Distinct sets of parameters can be used to represent the unique features of urban dynamics for various subregions.A further experiment is to evaluate each set of parameters based on the theories of compact cities.It is considered that the better set of parameters can be identified ac-cording to the utility function in terms of compact development.This set of parameters can be cloned to other regions to improve overall urban morphology.The original parameters can be also modified to produce more compact urban forms for planning purposes.This approach can provide a useful ex-ploratory tool for testing various planning scenarios for urban development. | LI Xia YANG QingSheng LIU XiaoPing | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,12: | 8 |
| 9 | Hydraulic support crushed mechanism for the shallow seam mining face under the roadway pillars of room mining goaf显示文摘While the fully-mechanized longwall mining technology was employed in a shallow seam under a room mining goaf and overlained by thin bedrock and thick loose sands, the roadway pillars in the abandoned room mining goaf were in a stress-concentrated state, which may cause abnormal roof weighting, violent ground pressure behaviours, even roof fall and hydraulic support crushed(HSC) accidents. In this case,longwall mining safety and efficiency were seriously challenged. Based on the HSC accidents occurred during the longwall mining of 3-1-2 seam, which locates under the intersection zone of roadway pillars in the room mining goaf of 3-1-1 seam, this paper employed ground rock mechanics to analyse the overlying strata structure movement rules and presented the main influence factors and determination methods for the hydraulic support working resistance. The FLAC3 D software was used to simulate the overlying strata stress and plastic zone distribution characteristics. Field observation was implemented to contrastively analyse the hydraulic support working resistance distribution rules under the roadway pillars in strike direction, normal room mining goaf, roadway pillars in dip direction and intersection zone of roadway pillars. The results indicate that the key strata break along with rotations and reactions of the coal pillars deliver a larger concentrated load to the hydraulic support under intersection zone of roadway pillars than other conditions. The ‘‘overburden strata-key strata-roadway pillars-immediate roof' integrated load has exceeded the yield load that leads to HSC accidents. | 17 | High-efficiency simultaneous extraction of rare earth elements and iron from NdFeB waste by oxalic acid leaching显示文摘Iron can not be recovered at high value because only rare earth elements are effectively recovered from NdFeB waste via oxidation roasting-hydrochloric acid leaching process.In this study,a new method for leaching NdFeB waste with oxalic acid was developed.The high-efficiency,simultaneous and high-value recovery of rare earth elements and iron was realized to simplify the process and improve the economic benefit.Results of the oxalic acid leaching experiments show that under the optimum leaching conditions at 90℃ for 6 h in the aqueous solution of oxalic acid(2 mol/L) with a liquid-solid ratio of60 mL/g,the iron leaching efficiency and precipitation rate of rare earth oxalate reach 93.89% and 93.17%,respectively.Rare earth oxalate and Fe(C_(2)O_(4))3^(3-) were left in the residue and the leaching solution,respectively.The leaching mechanism was further analyzed by characterising the leach residues obtained through X-ray powder diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM-EDS).Results of the leaching kinetics study indicate that the process of oxalic acid leaching follows the shrinking nucleus model,and the leaching kinetics model is controlled by the mixed factors of diffusion and chemical reaction.The leaching residue was calcined at 850℃ for 3 h and then decomposed into rare earth oxide,which can be directly used to prepare rare earth alloy via molten salt electrolysis.For the leaching solution,ferric oxalate solution was reduced using Fe powder to prepare the ferrous oxalate(FeC_(2)O_(4)-2H_(2)O). | Qingsheng Liu Tao Tu Hao Guo Huajin Cheng Xuezhong Wang | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,3: | 4 |
| 18 | Skull repair materials applied in cranioplasty: History and progress显示文摘The skull provides protection and mechanical support, and acts as a container for the brain and its accessory organs. Some defects in the skull can fatally threaten human life.Many efforts have been taken to repair defects in the skull, among which cranioplasty is the most prominent technique. To repair the injury, numerous natural and artificial materials have been adopted by neurosurgeons. Many cranioprostheses have been tried in the past decades, from autoplast to bioceramics. Neurosurgeons have been evaluating their advantages and shortages through clinical practice. Among those prostheses, surgeons gradually prefer bionic ones due to their marvelous osteoconductivity,osteoinductivity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. Autogeneic bone has been widely recognized as the 'gold standard' for renovating large-sized bone defects. However, the access to this technique is restricted by limited availability and complications associated with its use. Many metal and polymeric materials with mechanical characteristics analogous to natural bones were consequently applied to cranioplasty. But most of them were unsatisfactory concerning osteoconductiion and biodegradability owe to their intrinsic properties. With the microstructures almost identical to natural bones, mineralized collagen has biological performance nearly identical to autogeneic bone, such as osteoconduction. Implants made of mineralized collagen can integrate themselves into the newly formed bones through a process called 'creeping substitution'. In this review, the authors retrospect the evolution of skull repair material applied in cranioplasty. | 19 | Molecular Weight Controllable Degradation of Laminaria japonica Polysaccharides and Its Antioxidant Properties显示文摘In this study, molecular weight controllable degradation of algal Laminaria japonica polysaccharides(LPS) was investigated by ultrasound combined with hydrogen peroxide. Three main factors, i.e., ultrasonic power(A), ultrasonic time(B), and H_2O_2 concentration(C) were chosen for optimizing parameters by employing three-factors, three-levels BBD. The influence of degradation on structure change and antioxidant activities was also investigated. A second-order polynomial equation including molecular weight(Y) of Laminaria japonica polysaccharides and each variable parameter, i.e., ultrasonic power(A), ultrasonic time(B), and H_2O_2 concentration(C), was established: Y=20718.67-4273.13A-4000.38B-1438.75C+2333.25AB+1511.00AC+873.00BC+2838.29A^2 + 2490.79B^2+873.04C^2. The equation regression coefficient value(R^2 = 0.969) indicated that this equation was valid. The value of the adjusted determination coefficient(adjusted R^2 = 0.914) also confirmed that the model was highly significant. The results of selected experimental degradation conditions matched with the predicted value. FT-IR spectra revealed that the structures of LPS before and after degradation were not significantly changed. Antioxidant activities of LPS revealed that low Mws possessed stronger inhibitory than the original polysaccharides. | 20 | Application of Electroless Fe-42Ni(P) Film for Under-bump Metallization on Solder Joint显示文摘Because Fe has a more negative standard reduction potential than Ni, the simultaneous electroless deposition of Fe and Ni is difficult. In this study, Fe-42Ni(P) electroless deposit was prepared by using disodium ethylene diamine tetraacetate (ETDA-2Na) as complexing agent to reduce the difference in the electrode potential between Ni2+ and Fe2+ . The solderability and the interfacial reaction between Fe-42Ni(P) alloy and Sn were investigated. It was found that the electroless Fe-42Ni(P) alloy has excellent wettability with Sn. Moreover, the interfacial reaction rate between Fe-42Ni(P) and Sn is very slow.
