| 1 | High-yield production of 2,5-dimethylfuran from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural over carbon supported Ni–Co bimetallic catalyst显示文摘The catalytic conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) to 2,5-dimethylfuran(DMF) has attracted extensive research interests because DMF can be used as potential and competitive renewable transportation fuel or additives. Here we report a non-noble bimetallic catalyst with improved activity for hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis by introducing active carbon as support into a nickel–cobalt catalyst. The characterizations of the catalyst indicate that the Ni and Co species are uniformly dispersed on the active carbon through the wetness impregnation method. The influences of reaction temperature and hydrogen pressure are systematically investigated and an excellent yield(up to 95%) of DMF can be obtained at relatively mild conditions, 130 °C and 1 MPa H_2, over the carbon supported Ni–Co bimetallic catalyst. The high catalytic activity originates from the synergistic effect between Ni and CoO xspecies, the high BET surface area of the catalyst, and the uniform dispersion of Ni and Co species on the active carbon. The catalyst could be reused for 5 times without loss of activity in a batch reactor. Futhermore, the conversion of HMF to DMF on a fixed-bed reactor was also investigated and the 2%Ni–20%Co/C catalyst exhibited an excellent yield to DMF(>90%) for 71 h time on stream, indicating the high activity and stability of the catalyst. | Panpan Yang Qineng Xia Xiaohui Liu Yanqin Wang | 2016 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2016,25,6: | 7 |
| 2 | Use of polymer combinations in the preparation of solid dispersions of a thermally unstable drug by hot-melt extrusion显示文摘The objective of the study was to prepare solid dispersions containing a thermally unstable drug by hot-melt extrusion(HME).Carbamazepine(CBZ)was selected as model drug and combinations of Kollidon VA64(VA64),Soluplus(SOL)and Eudragit EPO(EPO)were utilized as carriers.Preformulation was conducted to identify the suitability of polymer combinations based on solubility parameters,differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),hot stage microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.Physicochemical properties of solid dispersions were determined by DSC,X-ray diffraction,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,dissolution and accelerated stability testing.The results show that drug-polymer miscibility at temperatures below the melting point(Tm)of CBZ was improved by combining EPO with VA64 or SOL.With 30%drug loading in a solid dispersion in SOL:EPO(1:1,w/w),CBZ was mainly present in an amorphous form accompanied by a small amount of a microcrystalline form.The dissolution rate of the solid dispersion was significantly increased(approximately 90%within 5 min)compared to either the pure drug(approximately 85%within 60 min)or the corresponding physical mixture(approximately 80%within 60 min)before and after storage.The solid dispersion in SOL:EPO(1:1,w/w)was relatively stable at 401C/75%RH under CBZ tablet packaging conditions for at least 3 months.In conclusion,polymer combinations that improve drug-polymer miscibility at an HME processing temperature below the Tm of a drug appear to be beneficial in the preparation of solid dispersions containing thermally unstable drugs. | Jia Liu Feng Cao Can Zhang Qineng Ping | 2013 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2013,3,4: | 6 |
| 3 | Carbamazepine solubility enhancement in tandem with swellable polymer osmotic pump tablet: A promising approach for extended delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs显示文摘Elementary osmotic pump(EOP)is a unique extended release(ER)drug delivery system based on the principle of osmosis.It has the ability to minimize the amount of the drug,accumulation and fluctuation in drug level during chronic uses.Carbamazepine(CBZ),a poorly water-soluble antiepileptic drug,has serious side effects on overdoses and chronic uses.The aim of the present study was to design a new EOP tablet of CBZ containing a solubility enhancers and swellable polymer to reduce its side effects and enhance the patient compliance.Firstly,a combination of solubilizing carriers was selected to improve the dissolution of the slightly soluble drug.Then,designing the new EOP tablet and investigating the effect of different variables of core and coat formulations on drug release behavior by single parameter optimization and by Taguchi orthogonal design with analysis of variance(ANOVA),respectively.The results showed that CBZ solubility was successfully enhanced by a minimum amount of combined polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP K30)and sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS).The plasticizer amount and molecular weight(MW)together with the osmotic agent amount directly affect the release rate whereas the swellable polymer amount and viscosity together with the semi-permeable membrane(SPM)thickness inversely influence the release rate.In addition,the tendency of following zero order kinetics was mainly affected by the coat components rather than those of the core.Further,orifice size does not have any significant effect on the release behavior within the range of 0.1 mm to 0.8 mm.In this study we report the successful formulation of CBZ-EOP tablets,which were similar to the marketed product Tegretol CR 200 and able to satisfy the USP criterion limits and to deliver about 80%of CBZ at a rate of approximately zero order for up to 12 h. | Hadjira Rabti Jumah Masoud Mohammed Salmani Eltayeb Sulimen Elamin Narimane Lammari Jie Zhang Qineng Ping | 2014 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,9,3: | 4 |
