| 1 | Thermal Analysis of a Phase Change Material Based Heat Sink for Cooling Protruding Electronic Chips显示文摘This work aims to numerically study the melting natural convection in a rectangular enclosure heated by threediscreet protruding electronic chips. The heat sources generate heat at a constant and uniform volumetric rate. Apart of the power generated in the heat sources is dissipated to a phase change material (PCM, n-eicosane withmelting temperature, Tm=36℃). Numerical investigations were carried out in order to examine the effects of theplate thickness on the maximum temperature of electronic components, the percentage contribution of plate heatconduction on the total removed heat and temperature profiles in the plate. Correlations for the dimensionless securedworking time (time to reach the threshold temperature, Tcr=75℃) and the corresponding liquid fractionwere derived. | Mustapha FARAJI Hamid EL QARNIA EI Khadir LAKHAL | 2009 | Journal of Thermal Science2009,18,3: | 3 |
| 2 | Numerical Study of Greenhouse Nocturnal Heat Losses显示文摘In this study we quantify and analyze different components of nocturnal losses from a heated greenhouse with the presence of vegetation for typical winter weather conditions in Marrakesh-Morocco,using a non linear model, based on the greenhouse heat and mass balance. It was found that 12% of the total input heat was dissipate as a sensible and latent leakage losses,66% was lost by convective exchange through air-inner cover. This gain of energy at the inner-cover is dissipated at the outer-cover by radiation(66%)and convection(34%).This results point toward some practical measures to reduce heat losses:increasing air tightness, using covering materials with low-emissivity in the long wave band or putting up an external thermal curtain should provide significant energy savings. | F.Berroug E.K.Lakhal M.El Omari M.Faraji H.El Qarnia | 2011 | Journal of Thermal Science2011,20,4: | 2 |

| 9 | The Effect of the Fin Length on the Solidification Process in a Rectangular Enclosure with Internal Fins显示文摘The aim of the proposed work is to study the solidification process within a rectangular enclosure provided with three internal rectangular fins attached to the left vertical wall of the cavity. This latest is filled with a phase change material(PCM),initially liquid,at a temperature above its melting temperature. The solidification process was initiated by cooling the left wall and fins to a temperature lower than the melting temperature. In order to study and examine the thermal behavior and thermal performance of the proposed system,a mathematical model, based on the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy was developed. The governing equations and their associated boundary and initial conditions were next adimensionalyzed. Therefore, several controlling parameters were appeared. The volume control method was used to discretize the equations. The resulting algebraic equations were solved iteratively.Numerical investigations were carried out to study and examine the effect of the dimensionless fin length on the hydrodynamic and thermal fields of the flow, the dimensionless heat flux, the solidified mass fraction and the dimensionless time of complete solidification. | Laila Khatra Hamid El Qarnia Mohammed El Ganaoui | 2019 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2019,15,2: | 1 |

| 17 | Thermal Analysis of Melting Occurring Inside a Finned Rectangular Enclosure Equipped with Discrete Pulsed Protruding Heat Sources显示文摘This paper numerically investigates the effect of the location of a horizontal fin on the melting of a phase change material(PCM)inside a rectangular enclosure heated by multiple discrete pulsed protruding heat sources. The fin and the phase change material filling the enclosure store the thermal energy extracted from the heat sources,in sensible and latent forms. The heat sources are assumed to simulate electronic components undergoing a superheating technical issue.By extracting heat from the electronics, the PCM plays the role of a heat sink.To analyze the thermal behavior and predict the cooling performance of the proposed cooling system,we derive a nonlinear mathematical model based on mass, momentum and energy conservation laws.Several numerical investigations are conducted to quantify the influence of the fin position on the thermal behavior and the cooling performance of the heat sink.Predictions include the transient maximum temperature occurring inside the heat sources and the liquid volume.A comparison between our numerical results and experimental data selected from the literature shows a good agreement. The main conclusion is that the presence of the fin leads to a slight increase in the melting time. | Brahim Amahan Hamid El Qarnia Ali El Afif | 2022 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,5: | 0 |
