1Study on the morphology, crystalline structure and thermal properties of yam starch acetates with different degrees of substitution显示文摘This study was carried out to understand and establish the changes in physicochemical properties of starch extracted from Chinese yam (Dioscorea opposita Thunb.) after acetylation. Yam starch acetates with different degrees of substitution (DS) were prepared by the reaction of yam starch with glacial acetic acid/acetic anhydride using sulfuric acid as the catalyst. Their formation was confirmed by the presence of the carbonyl signal around 1750 cm-1 in the Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra. The thermal behavior of the native starch and starch acetate were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results reveal that the starch acetates are more thermally stable than the native starch. The starch esters showed 50% weight loss at tem- peratures from 328℃ to 372 ℃ , while the native starch underwent 50% weight loss at 325℃ . The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the starch decreased from 273℃ to 226℃. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns could be classified as typical of the C-type for yam starch. X-ray diffraction also showed the loss of the ordered C-type starch crystalline structure and the degree of crystallinity of starch de- creased from 36.10% to 10.96% with the increasing DS. 2Investigation of free amino acid, total phenolics,antioxidant activity and purine alkaloids to assess the health properties of non-Camellia tea显示文摘To find novel functional beverages from folk teas, 33 species of frequently used non-Camellia tea(plants other than Camellia) were collected and compared with Camellia tea(green tea, pu-erh tea and black tea) for the first time. Data are reported here on the quantities of 20 free amino acids(FAAs) and three purine alkaloids(measured by UHPLC), total polyphenols(measured by Folin-Ciocalteu assay), and antioxidant activity(DPPH). The total amounts of FAAs in non-Camellia tea(0.62–18.99 mg/g) are generally less than that of Camellia tea(16.55–24.99 mg/g). However, for certain FAAs, the quantities were much higher in some non-Camellia teas, such as γ-aminobutyric acid in teas from Ampelopsis grossedentata, Isodon serra and Hibiscus sabdariffa. Interestingly, theanine was detected in tea from Potentilla fruticosa(1.16±0.81 mg/g). Furthermore, the content of polyphenols in teas from A. grossedentata, Acer tataricum subsp. ginnala are significantly higher than those from Camellia tea;teas from I. serra, Pistacia chinensis and A. tataricum subsp. ginnala have remarkable antioxidant activities similar to the activities from green tea(44.23 μg/m L). Purine alkaloids(caffeine, theobromine and theophylline) were not detected in non-Camellia teas. 4Preparation and arc erosion properties of Ag/Ti_2SnC composites under electric arc discharging显示文摘New Ag/Ti_2 SnC(Ag/TSC) composites with uniform microstructure were prepared by powder metallurgy. The superior wettability between Ag and Ti_2 SnC was confirmed with a contact angle of 14°. Arc erosion properties of Ag/10 wt%Ti_2 SnC(Ag/10 TSC) and Ag/20 wt%Ti_2 SnC(Ag/20 TSC) contacts were investigated under 400 V/100 A/AC-3 and compared with Ag/CdO contact.The Ag/10 TSC contact exhibited comparable arc erosion property to Ag/CdO contact. The fine arc erosion resistance was attributed to the good wettability between Ti_2 SnC and Ag,the good heat-conducting property of Ag/10 TSC, and the slight decomposition of Ti_2 SnC that absorbed part of electric arc energy. The excessive Ti_2 SnC significantly decreased the thermal conducting property of the Ag/20 TSC composite, resulting in the severe heat accumulation that decomposed Ti_2 SnC and deteriorated arc erosion property. 5Slip casting and pressureless sintering of Ti3AlC2显示文摘Slip casting and subsequent pressureless sintering(PLS)allow the preparation of complex-shaped and large-sized Ti3AlC2 components for many potential applications.The behaviors of the suspensions,green compacts,and sintered samples of Ti3AlC2 were studied in this paper.The optimized condition of 1 wt%of arabic gum as dispersant at pH=10 results in a Ti3AlC2 suspension for slip casting Ti3AlC2 green compacts without macro defects or cracks.The sintering temperature and Al4C3 embedding powder are found to dominate the properties of the sintered Ti3AlC2 samples.The Ti3AlC2 sample sintered at 1450℃for 1.5 h with Al4C3 embedding powder reaches the best properties,namely 95.3%relative density,hardness of 4.18 GPa,thermal conductivity of 29.11W·m-1·K-1,and electrical resistivity of 0.39μΩ·m.The findings in this work may pave the way for the application of MAX phases with large size and complex shape.Yimin GONG Wubian TIAN Peigen ZHANG Jian CHEN Yamei ZHANG Zhengming SUN 2019Journal of Advanced Ceramics2019,8,3:6
6Spontaneous Growth of Metal Whiskers on Surfaces of Solids:A Review显示文摘Spontaneous metal whisker growth phenomenon has been studied for^70 years,but still resists interpretations,which has haunted the electronics-rich systems from the birth of the industry since whiskers may lead to short circuits and hence other disasters.In addition to reliability problems,threat of Pb whiskers to human health is also significant due to the toxicity of the element and its geometry as well as its nanometer size.This issue becomes more attention drawing and urgent due to the restrictions on Pb use in EU,Japan etc.,which phases out the Pb-addition practice to mitigate Sn whiskers.This paper reviews the origin of the whiskering phenomenon and whisker-induced problems,ranging from early in the World War Ⅱ to the present;details the development of this issue in the electronics-rich systems including the phenomenon,problems and remedies;pictures the long history of the developments of the growth mechanisms and models which are full of hardship and contradictions.New aspects on the spontaneous whisker growth in some different substrates,such as in brasses and MAX phase materials are reviewed in more details.The latter was found to be a promising system to understand the whisker growth phenomenon,with new growth models proposed that may shed new light to the intricate battle field of the metal whisker research in general.Peigen Zhang Yamei Zhang Zhengming Sun 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,7:5
7From structural ceramics to 2D materials with multi-applications:A review on the development from MAX phases to MXenes显示文摘MAX phases(Ti_(3)SiC_(2),Ti_(3)AIC_(2),V_(2)AlC,TiqAlN_(3),etc.)are layered ternary carbides/nitrides,which are generally processed and researched as structure ceramics.Selectively removing A layer from MAX phases,MXenes(Ti_(3)C_(2),V_(2)C,Mo_(2)C,etc.)with two-dimensional(2D)structure can be prepared.The MXenes are electrically conductive and hydrophilic,which are promising as functional materials in many areas.This article reviews the milestones and the latest progress in the research of MAX phases and MXenes,from the perspective of ceramic science.Especially,this article focuses on the conversion from MAX phases to MXenes.First,we summarize the microstructure,preparation,properties,and applications of MAX phases.Among the various properties,the crack healing properties of MAX phase are highlighted.Thereafter,the critical issues on MXene research,including the preparation process,microstructure,MXene composites,and application of MXenes,are reviewed.Among the various applications,this review focuses on two selected applications:energy storage and electromagnetic interference shielding.Moreover,new research directions and future trends on MAX phases and MXenes are also discussed.Aiguo ZHOU Yi LIU Shibo LI Xiaohui WANG Guobing YING Qixun XIA Peigen ZHANG 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,6:4
8Commercialized non-Camellia tea:traditional function and molecular identification显示文摘Non-Camellia tea is a part of the colorful Chinese tea culture,and is also widely used as beverage and medicine in folk for disease prevention and treatment.In this study,37 samples were collected,including 33 kinds of non-Camellia teas and 4 kinds of teas(Camellia).Traditional functions of non-Camellia teas were investigated.Furthermore,non-Camellia teas of original plants were characterized and identified by molecular methods.Four candidate regions(rbcL,matK,ITS2,psbA-trnH)were amplified by polymerase chain reaction.In addition,DNA barcodes were used for the first time to discriminate the commercial non-Camellia tea and their adulterants,and to evaluate their safety.This study showed that BLASTN and the relevant phylogenetic tree are efficient tools for identification of the commercial non-Camellia tea and their adulterants.However,some sequences from original plants have not been found and there is a limitation of sequence number of original plants in GenBank.Submitting more original plant sequences to the GenBank will be helpful for evaluating the safety of non-Camellia teas.Ping Long Zhanhu Cui Yingli Wang Chunhong Zhang Na Zhang Minhui Li Peigen Xiao 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,3:3

10An ethnopharmacological investigation of medicinal Salvia plants (Lamiaceae) in China显示文摘In China,over 40 species of the genus Salvia have been used as medicinal plants for various diseases,some for thousands of years.Recently,research has focused on the biological activities of Salvia medicinal plants used in traditional chinese medicine(TCM).However,to date a scientific survey of the genus Salvia in China has not been carried out.In this paper,we report the results of 10 field surveys of Salvia medicinal plants collected in 17 provinces including detailed information on their local names,growing environment,distribution and therapeutic effects.We also summarize the results of research on the materia medica,phytochemistry and pharmacology of some of the important Salvia medicinal plants.Our study reveals that 35 Salvia plants have been used in TCM in different regions of China,including 20 species used as Danshen to treat heart diseases,and 15 species used to treat a range of other conditions including gynecological diseases,muscular or skeletal problems,hepatitis,urological diseases,and mouth and eye conditions.It is clear that some species of Salvia L.possess significant pharmacological activity in the context of ethnopharmacological knowledge,especially in the treatment of heart disease.Further studies of the phytochemistry and pharmacology of Salvia species will no doubt improve their medical utilization and contribute to the development of new natural drugs.Minhui Li Qianquan Li Chunhong Zhang Na Zhang Zhanhu Cui Luqi Huang Peigen Xiao 2013Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2013,3,4:2

12Shell powder as a novel bio-filler for thermal insulation coatings显示文摘The feasibility of employing shell powder as a novel bio-filler to prepare fluorocarbon coating is demonstrated.According to the relevant Chinese standards, the thermal and mechanical properties of the shell powder-filled fluorocarbon coating were evaluated, and compared with those filled by commercial calcium carbonate. All the shell powder-filled coatings can meet the requirements stated in the relevant standards, and with decreasing the particle size of the shell powders, the performance of the thermal insulation coating is enhanced. The coating(SC3) filled by shell powders with an average particle size of 2.81 μm possesses a better thermal insulation performance than the coating(CC) filled by commercial calcium carbonate. The coating SC3 has comparable adhesive force and washing resistance with the coating CC, and in the washing resistance test, after 2000 cycles, the coating SC3 was still able to cover totally their substrates. 13Role of MXene surface terminations in electrochemical energy storage:A review显示文摘MXenes are a group of recently discovered 2D materials and have attracted extensive attention since their first report in 2011;they have shown excellent prospects for energy storage applications owing to their unique layered microstructure and tunable electrical properties.One major feature of MXenes is their tailorable surface terminations(e.g.,-F,-O,-OH).Numerous studies have indicated that the composition of the surface terminations can significantly impact the electrochemical properties of MXenes.Nonetheless,the underlying mechanisms are still poorly understood,mainly because of the difficulties in quantitative analysis and characterization.This review summarizes the latest research progress on MXene terminations.First,a systematic introduction to the approaches for preparing MXenes is presented,which generally dominates the surface terminations.Then,theoretical and experimental efforts regarding the surface terminations are discussed,and the influence of surface terminations on the electronic and electrochemical properties of MXenes are generalized.Finally,we present the significance and research prospects of MXene terminations.We expect this review to encourage research on MXenes and provide guidance for usingthese materials for batteries and supercapacitors.Zhuoheng Bao Chengjie Lu Xin Cao Peigen Zhang Li Yang Heng Zhang Dawei Sha Wei He Wei Zhang Long Pan Zhengming Sun 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,9:2
14Confining effect of oxide film on tin whisker growth显示文摘Spontaneous tin whisker growth has been mysterious and catastrophic for more than half century. The difficulty in the research on this topic consists of the randomness of the whisker growth, the slow growth rate and many other tricky factors. Herein, with Ti2SnC-Sn as a new platform, fast tin whisker growth is realized to facilitate the research. The whisker morphology is found to be modulated by oxide film. A striated whisker morphology forms as growing in air, whereas a faceted morphology forms in vacuum.Furthermore, the evolution to the faceted morphology is attributed to the reconstruction of the whisker surface driven by surface energy reduction. 15Multifunctional MXene/C Aerogels for Enhanced Microwave Absorption and Thermal Insulation显示文摘Two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides(MXene)have emerged as promising candidates for microwave absorption(MA)materials.However,they also have some drawbacks,such as poor impedance matching,high self-stacking tendency,and high density.To tackle these challenges,MXene nanosheets were incorporated into polyacrylonitrile(PAN)nanofibers and subsequently assembled into a three-dimensional(3D)network structure through PAN carbonization,yielding MXene/C aerogels.The 3D network effectively extends the path of microcurrent transmission,leading to enhanced conductive loss of electromagnetic(EM)waves.Moreover,the aerogel’s rich pore structure significantly improves the impedance matching while effectively reducing the density of the MXenebased absorbers.EM parameter analysis shows that the MXene/C aerogels exhibit a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))value of−53.02 dB(f=4.44 GHz,t=3.8 mm),and an effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 5.3 GHz(t=2.4 mm,7.44–12.72 GHz).Radar cross-sectional(RCS)simulations were employed to assess the radar stealth effect of the aerogels,revealing that the maximum RCS reduction value of the perfect electric conductor covered by the MXene/C aerogel reaches 12.02 dB m^(2).In addition to the MA performance,the MXene/C aerogel also demonstrates good thermal insulation performance,and a 5-mm-thick aerogel can generate a temperature gradient of over 30℃ at 82℃.This study provides a feasible design approach for creating lightweight,efficient,and multifunctional MXene-based MA materials.Fushuo Wu Peiying Hu Feiyue Hu Zhihua Tian Jingwen Tang Peigen Zhang Long Pan Michel WBarsoum Longzhu Cai ZhengMing Sun 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11:2

19Spontaneous Ga whisker formation on FeGa_3显示文摘FeGa_3 has attracted considerable attention as potential material for many fields, whereas the whiskering phenomenon may cast doubts on its applications. Spontaneous Ga whisker formation was observed on the ballmilled FeGa_3-Ga. The sample made from ball-milled FeGa_3 powders free of elemental Ga are immune to the Ga whisker formation, even if all the processing parameters were the same as the FeGa_3-Ga composite sample. In addition, several nano-sized Ga whiskers were found on the pressed FeGa_3-Ga composite without ball milling,and the as-synthesized FeGa_3-Ga grew only tiny Ga balls on the surface. These whiskering phenomena do not follow the traditional metal whisker formation mechanisms.
