| 1 | ANFIS-based Sensor Fusion System of Sit-to-stand for Elderly People Assistive Device Protocols显示文摘This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) named E-JUST assistive device(EJAD).Several experiments were carried out using a motion capture system(VICON) and inertial sensors to identify the human posture during the sit-to-stand motion.The EJAD uses only two inertial measurement units(IMUs) fused through an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS) algorithm to imitate the real motion of the caregiver.The EJAD consists of two main parts,a robot arm and an active walker.The robot arm is a 2-degree-of-freedom(2-DOF) planar manipulator.In addition,a back support with a passive joint is used to support the patient s back.The IMUs on the leg and trunk of the patient are used to compensate for and adapt to the EJAD system motion depending on the obtained patient posture.The ANFIS algorithm is used to train the fuzzy system that converts the IMUs signals to the right posture of the patient.A control scheme is proposed to control the system motion based on practical measurements taken from the experiments.A computer simulation showed a relatively good performance of the EJAD in assisting the patient. | Omar Salah Ahmed A.Ramadan Salvatore Sessa Ahmed Abo Ismail Makasatsu Fujie Atsuo Takanishi | 2013 | International Journal of Automation and computing2013,10,5: | 4 |
| 2 | Clinical efficacy of direct-acting antiviral therapy for recurrent hepatitis C virus infection after liver transplantation in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Recurrent hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection of transplanted liver allografts is universal in patients with detectable HCV viremia at the time of transplantation.Direct-acting antiviral(DAA)therapy has been adopted as the standard of care for recurrent HCV infection in the post-transplant setting.However,there are insufficient data regarding its efficacy in liver transplant(LT)recipients with a history of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and the risk of HCC recurrence after DAA therapy is unknown.predictors of DAA treatment failure and HCC recurrence in LT recipients.METHODS A total of 106 LT recipients given DAAs for recurrent HCV infection from 2015 to 2019 were identified(68 with and 38 without HCC).Descriptive statistics and logistic regression models were used to estimate the multivariate odds ratios and respective 95%confidence intervals for predictors of treatment failure and HCC recurrence.RESULTS Six patients(6%)experienced DAA therapy failure post-LT and 100(94%)had a sustained virologic response at follow-up week 12.A high alanine transaminase level>35 U/L at treatment week 4 was a significant predictor of treatment failure.Relapse to pre-LT DAA therapy is a predictor of post-LT HCC recurrence,P=0.04.DAA relapse post-LT was also associated with post-transplantation HCC recurrence,P=0.05.CONCLUSION DAAs are effective and safe in the treatment of recurrent HCV infection in LT recipients with history of HCC.Relapse to pre-and post-LT DAA therapy is associated with post-transplantation HCC recurrence. | Mohamed Saleh Ismail Manal Hassan Saira Aijaz Khaderi Wael Ahmed Yousry Maha Mohsen Kamal El-Din Mohamed Mohamed Bahaa El-Din Osama Aboelfotoh El Sayed Ahmed Omar Kaseb John Alan Goss FasihaKanwal Prasun Kumar Jalal | 2020 | World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,9: | 1 |

| 5 | Need for surveillance of concomitant peripheral artery disease in patients with coronary disease: results of the AGATHA survey in Malaysia显示文摘Background For patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD), co-existence of peripheral artery disease (PAD) predicts increased mortality, and such patients are also more likely to benefit from aggressive therapy. Surveillance of PAD is often neglected at health clinics. Our aim is to highlight the importance and ease of surveillance of PAD in patients with CVD. Objective To determine the prevalence of symptomatic and asymptomatic PAD in a Malaysian patient population with documented CVD. Methods and Results A total of 393 subjects with established CVD were recruited from three centres (85 women and 308 men), as part of a larger international (AGATHA) survey. PAD, determined by presence of claudicant symptoms on interview and/or abnormal ankle-brachial index (ABI) score of less than 0.9, was present in 21.4% of patients-of whom 64% were asymptomatic. Abnormal ABI is associated with higher systolic blood pressure and number of arterial beds affected. Conclusions Concomitant PAD is prevalent among CVD patients in Malaysia. | 16 | The practicality of Malaysia dengue outbreak forecasting model as an early warning system显示文摘Dengue is a harmful tropical disease that causes death to many people.Currently,the dengue vaccine development is still at an early stage,and only intervention methods exist after dengue cases increase.Thus,previously,two scientific experimental field studies were conducted in producing a dengue outbreak forecasting model as an early warning system.Successfully,an Autoregressive Distributed Lag(ADL)Model was developed using three factors:the epidemiological,entomological,and environmental with an accuracy of 85%;but a higher percentage is required in minimizing the error for the model to be useful.Hence,this study aimed to develop a practical and cost-effective dengue outbreak forecasting model with at least 90%accuracy to be embedded in an early warning computer system using the Internet of Things(IoT)approach.Eighty-one weeks of time series data of the three factors were used in six forecasting models,which were Autoregressive Distributed Lag(ADL),Hierarchical Forecasting(Bottom-up and Optimal combination)and three Machine Learning methods:(Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Random Forest).Five error measures were used to evaluate the consistency performance of the models in order to ensure model performance.The findings indicated Random Forest outperformed the other models with an accuracy of 95%when including all three factors.But practically,collecting mosquito related data(the entomological factor)was very costly and time consuming.Thus,it was removed from the model,and the accuracy dropped to 92%but still high enough to be of practical use,i.e.,beyond 90%.However,the practical ground operationalization of the early warning system also requires several rain gauges to be located at the dengue hot spots due to localized rainfall.Hence,further analysis was conducted in determining the location of the rain gauges.This has led to the recommendation that the rain gauges should be located about 3e4 km apart at the dengue hot spots to ensure the accuracy of the rainfall data to be included in the dengue outbreak forecasting model so that it can be embedded in the early warning system.Therefore,this early warning system can save lives,and prevention is better than cure. | Suzilah Ismail Robert Fildes Rohani Ahmad Wan Najdah Wan Mohamad Ali Topek Omar | 2022 | Infectious Disease Modelling2022,7,3: | 1 |

| 20 | Real and Altered Fingerprint Classification Based on Various Features and Classifiers显示文摘Biometric recognition refers to the identification of individuals through their unique behavioral features(e.g.,fingerprint,face,and iris).We need distinguishing characteristics to identify people,such as fingerprints,which are world-renowned as the most reliablemethod to identify people.The recognition of fingerprints has become a standard procedure in forensics,and different techniques are available for this purpose.Most current techniques lack interest in image enhancement and rely on high-dimensional features to generate classification models.Therefore,we proposed an effective fingerprint classification method for classifying the fingerprint image as authentic or altered since criminals and hackers routinely change their fingerprints to generate fake ones.In order to improve fingerprint classification accuracy,our proposed method used the most effective texture features and classifiers.Discriminant Analysis(DCA)and Gaussian Discriminant Analysis(GDA)are employed as classifiers,along with Histogram of Oriented Gradient(HOG)and Segmentation-based Feature Texture Analysis(SFTA)feature vectors as inputs.The performance of the classifiers is determined by assessing a range of feature sets,and the most accurate results are obtained.The proposed method is tested using a Sokoto Coventry Fingerprint Dataset(SOCOFing).The SOCOFing project includes 6,000 fingerprint images collected from 600 African people whose fingerprints were taken ten times.Three distinct degrees of obliteration,central rotation,and z-cut have been performed to obtain synthetically altered replicas of the genuine fingerprints.The proposal achieved massive success with a classification accuracy reaching 99%.The experimental results indicate that the proposed method for fingerprint classification is feasible and effective.The experiments also showed that the proposed SFTA-based GDA method outperformed state-of-art approaches in feature dimension and classification accuracy. | Saif Saad Hameed Ismail Taha Ahmed Omar Munthir Al Okashi | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1: | 0 |
