| 3 | High levels of Zinc-α-2-Glycoprotein among Omani AIDS patients on combined antiretroviral therapy显示文摘Objective:To investigate the levels of zinc-α-2-glycoprotein(ZAG) among Omani AIDS patients receiving combined antiretroviral therapy(cART).Methods:A total of 80 Omani AIDS patients(45 males and 33 females),average age of 36 vears.who were receiving cART at the Saltan Qaboos University Hospital(SQUH).Muscat,Oman,were tested for the levels of ZAG.In addition,SO healthy blood donors(46 males and 34 females),average age of 26 years,attending the SOUH Blood Bank,were tested in parallel as a control group.Measurement of the ZAG levels was performed using a competitive enzyme—linked immunosorbent assay and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.Results:The ZAG levels were found to he significantly higher among AIDS patients compared to the healthy individuals(P=0.033).A total of 56(70%) of the AIDS patients were found to have higher levels of ZAG and 16(20%) AIDS patients were found to have high ZAG levels,which are significantly(P>0.031) associated with weight loss.Conclusions:ZAG levels are high among Omani AIDS patients on cART and this necessitales the measurement of ZAG on routine basis,as it is associated with weight loss. | Sidgi Syed Anwer Hasson Mohammed Saeed Al-Balushi Muzna Hamed Al Yahmadi Juma Zaid Al-Busaidi Elias Antony Said Mohammed Shafeeq Othman Talal Abdullah Sallam Mohammed Ahmad Idris Ali Abdullah Al-Jabri | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,8: | 0 |
| 4 | Burnout amongst radiologists:A bibliometric study from 1993 to 2020显示文摘BACKGROUND Burnout amongst radiologists is common in many different institutions and is increasing day by day.To battle burnout,we have to address the root causes already recognized in published literature.Therefore,it is crucial to examine and discern important publications.AIM To provide evidence-based data and trends related to burnout in radiologists so that researchers can work on it further and develop preventive strategies to overcome this problem.METHODS Bibliometric analysis conducted by two independent reviewers separately used Scopus Library for data extraction by using medical subject heading and International Classification of Diseases keywords.Forty-nine articles were selected for analysis after an extensive scrutiny.Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20 was used for analysis.Pearson correlation coefficient,Kruskal Wallis test,and Mann-Whitney U test were applied.RESULTS The most productive period with regards to the number of publications was between 2017 and 2019.A total of 160 authors contributed to the topic burnout among radiologists,with an average of 3.26 authors per paper.About 41.68%of the authors were female,whilst 35%of them were first authors.The co-citation analysis by author involved 188 cited authors,13 of whom were cited at least 70 times.Only six out of forty-nine studies were funded by various government institutions and non-governmental organizations.CONCLUSION Current analysis casts a spotlight on important trends being witnessed in regard to the mental health of radiologists,including lack of funding for mental health research,narrowing of female vs male citation gap,as well as authorship and citation trends. | Muhammad Fazal Hussain Qureshi Danish Mohammad Syed Mustafa Ali Shah Mahira Lakhani Muzna Shah Muhammad Hassan Ayub Sara Sadiq | 2022 | World Journal of Psychiatry2022,12,2: | 0 |
| 5 | Identification and optimization of a potent and highly selective D3 dopamine receptor agonist显示文摘OBJECTIVE Dopamine receptors(DRs) are involved in the development and treatment of many neuropsychiatric disorders.Currently available dopaminergic drugs modulate both DRD2 and DRD3,leading to side effects and uncertainty as to the roles each DR subtype plays physiologically.Our lab employed high throughput screening paradigms to discover highly selective modulators for the DRD3.METHODS The NIH Molecular Libraries Program 400,000 + small molecule library was screened using the Discove Rx Path Hunter?β-arrestin assay for compounds that activate the DRD3 without effects on the DRD2.Confirmation and counter-screens assessed selectivity and mechanisms of action.We identified 62 potential agonists,and chose the most promising to perform a structure-activity relationship(SAR) study to increase potency while maintaining selectivity.The lead compound identified through this process,ML417,was also characterized using bioluminescence resonance energy transfer(BRET)-based β-arrestin recruitment and G-protein activation assays as well as p-ERK assays.Potential neuroprotective properties of this compound were assessed using a SHSY5 Y neuronal cell model.RESULTS ML417 displays potent,DRD3-selective agonist activity in multiple functional assays.Binding and functional GPCR screens(>165 receptors) show ML417 has limited cross-reactivity with other GPCRs.ML417 also displays superior(compared to the reference compound pramipexole),dose-dependent protection against a decrease in neurite length induced by 10 μmol·L^(-1) of the neurotoxin,6-hydroxydopamine,in the SHSY5 Y cell model.CONCLUSION We have discovered and characterized ML417,a potent and highly selective DRD3 agonist.This compound will be useful as a research tool,and may prove useful as a therapeutic drug lead. | Amy E MORITZ R Benjamin FREE Warren WEINER Muzna BACHANI Trevor DOYLE Noel SOUTHALL Marc FERRER Jonathan A JAVITCH Joseph STEINER Ara ABRAMYAN Lei SHI Jeffrey AUBé Kevin FRANKOWSKI David R SIBLEY | 2017 | 中国药理学与毒理学杂志2017,31,10: | 0 |
| 6 | COVID-19 vaccination and myocarditis: A review of current literature显示文摘Vaccination for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a critical strategy in controlling the current pandemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2).After widespread COVID-19 vaccine implementation,isolated case reports about myocarditis as a potential adverse reaction started coming.As of November 12,2021,Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)has reported 1793 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis among young people with age 12-29 years,most cases have been reported in the male adolescent age group after the second dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.It is very important to monitor the safety standards and adverse reactions of vaccines to effectively implement the vaccination policies.The CDC and the United States Food and Drug Administration actively monitor vaccine-associated adverse reactions a well-known platform such as Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.CDC continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccines and booster doses for eligible individuals(age limit according to the type of vaccine)after careful consideration from risk-benefit assessment and favorable outcomes from vaccination.Mechanisms behind COVID-19 vaccine-induced myocarditis are not clear yet but several possibilities such as molecular mimicry between the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and self-antigens,immune response to mRNA,and activation of host immunological system,trigger of the pre-existing dysregulated immunological system have been documented in the literature.Overall,data suggests a good prognosis,especially in young patients.In this review article,we cover currently available data on COVID-19 vaccine-related myocarditis incidence,concerns,possible mechanisms of myocarditis,current treatment,and outcome trends,risk vs benefit assessment of COVID-19 vaccination in this current pandemic. | Kartik Dhaduk Jagjit Khosla Muzna Hussain Vrunda Mangaroliya Shaylika Chauhan Kumar Ashish Rahul Gupta Suman Pal | 2022 | World Journal of Virology2022,11,4: | 0 |
