1The lncRNA APOLO interacts with the transcription factor WRKY42 to trigger root hair cell expansion in response to cold显示文摘Plant long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)have emerged as important regulators of chromatin dynamics,impacting on transcriptional programs leading to different developmental outputs.The lncRNA AUXIN-REGULATED PROMOTER LOOP(APOLO)directly recognizes multiple independent loci across the Arabidopsis genome and modulates their three-dimensional chromatin conformation,leading to transcriptional shifts.Here,we show that APOLO recognizes the locus encoding the root hair(RH)master regulator ROOT HAIR DEFECTIVE 6(RHD6)and controls RHD6 transcriptional activity,leading to cold-enhanced RH elongation through the consequent activation of the transcription factor gene RHD6-like RSL4.Furthermore,we demonstrate that APOLO interacts with the transcription factor WRKY42 and modulates its binding to the RHD6 promoter.WRKY42 is required for the activation of RHD6 by low temperatures and WRKY42 deregulation impairs cold-induced RH expansion.Collectively,our results indicate that a novel ribonucleoprotein complex with APOLO and WRKY42 forms a regulatory hub to activate RHD6 by shaping its epigenetic environment and integrate signals governing RH growth and development.Michael Moison Javier Martinez Pacheco Leandro Lucero Camille Fonouni-Farde Johan Rodriguez-Melo Natanael Mansilla Aurelie Christ Jeremie Bazin Moussa Benhamed Fernando Ibanez Martin Crespi Jose M.Estevez Federico Ariel 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,6:8
2100-Gb/s undersea transmission with high spectral efficiency using pre-filtered QPSK modulation format显示文摘We provide a review of our recent 100-Gb/s, high spectral efficiency (SE) experiment targeting transoceanic and regional undersea transmission distances. We demonstrated that simple pre-filtering at the transmitter together with a maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) detection algorithm can significantly improve SE. We transmitted 96×100-Gb/s pre-filtered polarization division multiplexed return-to-zero quadrature phase shift keyed (PDM-RZ-QPSK) channels with 300% SE over 10608 km using 52-km spans of 150-μm 2 fiber and simple single-stage erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). 3The roles of MXenes in developing advanced lithium metal anodes显示文摘Lithium(Li) metal has emerged as the most promising anode for rechargeable Li batteries owing to its high theoretical specific capacities, low negative electrochemical potential, and superior electrical conductivity. Replacing the conventional graphite anodes with Li metal anodes(LMAs) provides great potential to exceed the theoretical limitations of current commercial Li-ion batteries, leading to nextgeneration high-energy–density rechargeable Li metal batteries(LMBs). However, further development of LMAs is hindered by several inherent issues, such as dangerous dendrite growth, infinite volume change, low Coulombic efficiency, and interfacial side reactions. MXenes, a family of two-dimensional(2 D) transition metal carbides and/or nitrides, have recently attracted much attention to address these issues due to their 2D structure, lithiophilic surface terminations, excellent electrical and ionic conductivity, and superior mechanical properties. Herein, an overview of recent advances in the roles of MXenes for stabilizing LMAs is presented. In particular, strategies of utilizing MXenes as the Li hosts, artificial protection layers, electrolyte additives, and for separator modifications to develop stable and dendrite-free LMAs are discussed. 4Diversity of endophytes across the soil-plant continuum for Atriplex spp. in arid environments显示文摘Endophytes are hypothesized to be transferred across the soil-plant continuum, suggesting both the transfers of endophytes from environment to plant and from plant to soil. To verify this hypothesis and to assess the role of locality, we evaluated the similarity of microbial communities commonly found both in soils and endophytic communities in three arid regions, i.e. the Jornada LTER(Long Term Ecological Research) site in New Mexico, USA, and the research station of Jordan University of Science and Technology(JUST) and Khanasri research station in Badia region of Jordan. Rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils, leaves and seeds of Atriplex spp. were sampled. Diversity and distribution of bacteria and fungi across the soil-plant continuums were assessed by tag-encoded FLX amplicon pyrosequencing and sequence alignment. Of the total bacterial OTUs(operational taxonomic units), 0.17% in Khanasri research station, 0.16% in research station of JUST, and 0.42% in Jornada LTER site were commonly found across all the plant and soil compartments. The same was true for fungi in two regions, i.e. 1.56% in research station of JUST and 0.86% in Jornada LTER site. However, in Khanasri research station, 12.08% of total fungi OTUs were found in at least one soil compartment and one plant compartment. Putative Arthrobacter, Sporosarcina, Cladosporium and members of Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were found across all the soil-plant continuums. Ascomycota, mainly including Didymellaceae, Pleosporaceae and Davidiellaceae were present across all the soil-plant continuums. Microbial communities in two regions of Jordan were similar to each other, but both of them were different from the Jornada LTER site of USA. SIMPER(similarity percentage) analysis of bacterial and fungal taxa for both soil and endophyte communities revealed that dissimilarities of two bacterial genera(Arthrobacter and Sporosarcina) and two fungal genera(Cladosporium and Alternaria) are very high, so they play key roles in the soil-plant continuums. A weighed Pearson correlation analysis for the specific bacterial OTUs in the soil-plant continuums only showed high similarity between the two regions of Jordan. However, fungal groups showed higher similarities among all regions. 5In situ characterizations of solid-solid interfaces in solid-state batteries using synchrotron X-ray techniques显示文摘The solid-solid electrode-electrolyte interface represents an important component in solid-state batteries(SSBs),as ionic diffusion,reaction,transformation,and restructuring could all take place.As these processes strongly influence the battery performance,studying the evolution of the solid-solid interfaces,particularly in situ during battery operation,can provide insights to establish the structure-property relationship for SSBs.Synchrotron X-ray techniques,owing to their unique penetration power and diverse approaches,are suitable to investigate the buried interfaces and examine structural,compositional,and morphological changes.In this review,we will discuss various surface-sensitive synchrotron-based scattering,spectroscopy,and imaging methods for the in situ characterization of solid-solid interfaces and how this information can be correlated to the electrochemical properties of SSBs.The goal is to overview the advantages and disadvantages of each technique by highlighting representative examples,so that similar strategies can be applied by battery researchers and beyond to study similar solid-solid interface systems.Marcos Lucero Shen Qiu Zhenxing Feng 2021Carbon Energy2021,3,5:2
