1Effects of different dietary energy and protein levels and sex on growth performance,carcass characteristics and meat quality of F1 Angus x Chinese Xiangxi yellow cattle显示文摘Background:The experiment evaluated the effect of nutrition levels and sex on the growth performance,carcass characteristics and meat quality of F1 Angus × Chinese Xiangxi yellow cattle.Methods:During the background period of 184 d,23 steers and 24 heifers were fed the same ration,then put into a2×2×2 factorial arrangement under two levels of- dietary energy(TON:70/80%DM),protein(CP:11.9/14.3%DM)and sex(S:male/female) during the finishing phase of 146 d.The treatments were-(1) high energy/low protein(HELP),(2) high energy/high protein(HEHP),(3) low energy/low protein(LELP) and(4) low energy/high protein(LEHP).Each treatment used 6 steers and 6 heifers,except for HELP- 5 steers and 6 heifers.Results:Growth rate and final carcass weight were unaffected by dietary energy and protein levels or by sex.Compared with the LE diet group,the HE group had significantly lower dry matter intake(DMI,6.76 vs.7.48 kg DM/d),greater chest girth increments(46.1 vs.36.8 cm),higher carcass fat(19.9 vs.16.3%) and intramuscular fat content(29.9 vs.22.8%DM).The HE group also had improved yields of top and medium top grade commercial meat cuts(39.9 vs.36.5%).The dressing percentage was higher for the HP group than the LP group(53.4 vs.54.9%).Steers had a greater length increment(9.0 vs.8.3 cm),but lower carcass fat content(16.8 vs.19.4%) than heifers.The meat quality traits(shear force value,drip loss,cooking loss and water holding capacity) were not affected by treatments or sex,averaging 3.14 kg,2.5,31.5 and 52.9%,respectively.The nutritive profiles(both fatty and amino acid composition) were not influenced by the energy or protein levels or by sex.Conclusions:The dietary energy and protein levels and sex significantly influenced the carcass characteristics and chemical composition of meat but not thegrowth performance,meat quality traits and nutritive profiles.Lingyan Li Yuankui Zhu Xianyou Wang Yang He Binghai Cao 2014Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2014,5,4:21
2Effects of Tai Ji Quan training on gait kinematics in older Chinese women with knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background: Although Tai Ji Quan has been shown to relieve pain and improve functional mobility in people with knee osteoarthritis(OA), little is known about its potential benefits on gait characteristics among older Chinese women who have a high prevalence of both radiographic and symptomatic knee OA. This study aims to assess the efficacy of a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention on gait kinematics for older Chinese women with knee OA.Methods: A randomized controlled trial involving 46 older women in Shanghai, China, with clinically diagnosed knee OA. Randomized(1:1)participants received either a 60 min Tai Ji Quan session(n = 23) 3 times weekly or a 60 min bi-weekly educational session(n = 23) for 24 weeks.Primary outcomes were changes in gait kinematic measures from baseline to 24 weeks. Secondary outcomes included changes in scores on the Western Ontario and Mc Master University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) and Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB).Results: After 24 weeks the Tai Ji Quan group demonstrated better performance in gait velocity(mean difference, 8.40 cm/s, p = 0.01), step length(mean difference, 3.52 cm, p = 0.004), initial contact angle(mean difference, 2.19°, p = 0.01), and maximal angle(mean difference, 2.61°,p = 0.003) of flexed knees during stance phase compared to the control group. In addition, the Tai Ji Quan group showed significant improvement in WOMAC scores(p < 0.01)(mean difference,-4.22 points in pain, p = 0.002;-2.41 points in stiffness, p < 0.001;-11.04 points in physical function, p = 0.006) and SPPB scores(mean difference, 1.22 points, p < 0.001).Conclusion: Among older Chinese women with knee OA, a tailored Tai Ji Quan intervention improved gait outcomes. The intervention also improved overall function as indexed by the WOMAC and SPPB. 3Combining sum-difference and auxiliary beams for adaptive monopulse in jamming显示文摘Only in the presence of sidelobe jamming(SLJ),can the conventional adaptive monopulse technique null the jamming effectively and maintain the monopulse angle estimation accuracy simultaneously.While mainlobe jamming(MLJ) exists,the mainlobe of adaptive pattern will subject to serious distortion,which results in a failure of detecting and tracking targets by monopulse technique.Therefore,a monopulse angle estimation algorithm based on combining sum-difference beam and auxiliary beam is presented.This algorithm utilizes both high gain difference beams and high gain auxiliary beams for cancelling the mainlobe jammer and multiple sidelobe jammers(SLJs) while keeping an adaptive monopulse ratio.Theoretical analysis and simulation results indicate that the serious invalidation of monopulse technique in MLJ and SLJs scenarios is resolved well,which improves the monopulse angle accuracy greatly.Furthermore,the proposed algorithm is of simple implementation and low computational complexity.Rongfeng Li Can Rao Lingyan Dai Yongliang Wang 2013Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2013,24,3:13
4Understanding primary and secondary sources of ambient oxygenated volatile organic compounds in Shenzhen utilizing photochemical age-based parameterization method显示文摘Oxygenated volatile organic compounds(OVOCs) are key intermediates in the atmospheric photooxidation process. To further study the primary and secondary sources of OVOCs,their ambient levels were monitored using a proton-transfer reaction mass spectrometer(PTR-MS) at an urban site in the Pearl River Delta of China. Continuous monitoring campaigns were conducted in the spring, summer, fall, and winter of 2016. Among the six types of OVOC species, the mean concentrations of methanol were the highest in each season(up to 13–20 ppbv), followed by those of acetone, acetaldehyde and acetic acid(approximately 2–4 ppbv), while those of formic acid and methyl ethyl ketone(MEK) were the lowest(approximately 1–2 ppbv). As observed from a diurnal variation chart, the OVOCs observed in Shenzhen may have been affected by numerous factors such as their primary and secondary sources and photochemical consumption. The photochemical age-based parameterization method was used to apportion the sources of ambient OVOCs. Methanol had significant anthropogenic primary sources but negligible anthropogenic secondary sources during all of the seasons. Acetone, MEK and acetic acid were mostly attributed to anthropogenic primary sources during each season with smaller contributions from anthropogenic secondary sources. 5Characterizing oxygenated volatile organic compounds and their sources in rural atmospheres in China显示文摘Oxygenated volatile organic compounds(OVOCs) are important precursors and products of atmospheric secondary pollution. The sources of OVOCs, however, are still quite uncertain,especially in the atmosphere with much pollution in China. To study the sources of OVOCs in rural atmospheres, a proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry(PTR-MS) was deployed at a northern rural site(WD) and a southern rural site(YMK) in China during the summer of 2014 and 2016, respectively. The continuous observation showed that the mean concentration of TVOCs(totally 17 VOCs) measured at WD(52.4 ppbv) was far higher than that at YMK(11.1 ppbv), and the OVOCs were the most abundant at both the two sites. The diurnal variations showed that local sources of OVOCs were still prominent at WD, while regional transport influenced YMK much. The photochemical age-based parameterization method was then used to quantitatively apportion the sources of ambient OVOCs. The anthropogenic primary sources at WD and YMK contributed less(2%–16%) to each OVOC species. At both the sites, the atmospheric background had a dominant contribution(~ 50%) to acetone and formic acid, while the anthropogenic secondary formation was the main source(~ 40%) of methanol and MEK. For acetaldehyde and acetic acid, the biogenic sources were their largest source(~ 40%) at WD, while the background(39%) and anthropogenic secondary formation(42%) were their largest sources at YMK, respectively. 6Paleomagnetic results of Late Paleozoic rocks from northern Qiangtang Block in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘Tectonic evolution of the Tethys and the boundary between the Gondwanaland and the Eurasia during the Carboniferous and Permian remain hotly debated. Qiangtang region in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau may be a key place to study these problems. A paleomagnetic study was conducted on the Late Paleozoic rocks in the northern Qiangtang region (33.7°N, 86.7°W), Tibet. Two sites (21 samples) in the Upper Carboniferous, eleven sites (101 samples) in the Permian, and two sites (16 samples) in the Lower Triassic were investigated. The rock magnetic data revealed hematite and magnetite as the main magnetic carriers. In stepwise thermal demagnetization and/or combined alternating field (AC) demagnetization, two characteristic components in the majority of the samples were identified as (1) the Low-temperature Component (LTC), characterized by northerly decli- nation and moderate to steep inclination, corresponding to a pole position overlay with the present North Pole. A minority of the samples present single component, and their directions are the same as (2) the High-temperature Component (HTC) of double components. The combined single-component and HTC data of the Permian can pass the R-test at 95% level and the F-test at 99% level, as well as the BC-test. The pole position from the Late Carboniferous is at 31.8°S, 45.7°E with dp=2.1, dm=3.9, that from the Early and Middle (Late) Permian is at 31.7°S, 46.8°E with dp=9.2, dm=16.9 (34.4°N, 54.1°E with dp=6.9, dm=12.5) respectively, and that from the Early Triassic is at 16.9°S, 22.5°E with dp=4.9, dm=9.2. 8Silurian A-type granitoids in the southern margin of the Tongbai-Dabieshan: Evidence from SHRIMP zircon geochronology and geochemistry显示文摘SHRIMP U-Pb dating on magmatic zircons extracted from a riebeckite quartz syenite in the Huangyangshan pluton in Suizhou, the southern margin of Tongbai-Dabieshan yielded an age of 439±6Ma. According to the morphology and high Th/U ratios of the zircons, the age is interpreted as crystallization timing of the pluton. The Huangyangshan pluton is composed of peralkaline quartz syenite, alkaline granite and syenite. All of the rocks are characterized by high agpaitic index (A.I.=(Na+K)/Al, molar ratio) and Fe-number [FeOT/(FeOT+MgO)], low CaO and MgO contents, enrichment of high field strength elements (i.e. Nb, Zr, Ga, Y, Hf) and light REEs, evidently negative Eu anomalies and high Ga/Al ratios, which are consistent with anorogenic A-type granitoids. 10L-tyrosine improves neuroendocrine function in a mouse model of chronic stress显示文摘Adult BALB/c mice, individually housed, were stimulated with nine different stressors, arranged randomly, for 4 continuous weeks to generate an animal model of chronic stress. In chronically stressed mice, spontaneous locomotor activity was significantly decreased, escape latency in the Morris water maze test was prolonged, serum levels of total thyrotropin and total triiodothyronine were significantly decreased, and dopamine and norepinephrine content in the pallium, hippocampus and hypothalamus were significantly reduced. All of these changes were suppressed, to varying degrees, by L-tyrosine supplementation. 11Chemical Components, Variation, and Source Identification of PM1 during the Heavy Air Pollution Episodes in Beijing in December 2016显示文摘Air pollution is a current global concern. The heavy air pollution episodes(HPEs) in Beijing in December 2016 severely influenced visibility and public health. This study aims to survey the chemical compositions, sources, and formation processes of the HPEs. An aerodyne quadruple aerosol mass spectrometer(Q-AMS) was utilized to measure the non-refractory PM1(NR-PM1) mass concentration and size distributions of the main chemical components including organics, sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, and chloride in situ during 15–23 December 2016. The NR-PM1 mass concentration was found to increase from 6 to 188 μg m–3 within 5 days. During the most serious polluted episode, the PM1 mass concentration was about 2.6 times that during the first pollution stage and even 40 times that of the clean days. The formation rates of PM2.5 in the five pollution stages were 26, 22, 22, 32, and 67 μg m^(–3) h–1, respectively. Organics and nitrate occupied the largest proportion in the polluted episodes, whereas organics and sulfate dominated the submicron aerosol during the clean days. The size distribution of organics is always broader than those of other species, especially in the clean episodes. The peak sizes of the interested species grew gradually during different HPEs. Aqueous reaction might be important in forming sulfate and chloride, and nitrate was formed via oxidization and condensation processes. PMF(positive matrix factorization) analysis on AMS mass spectra was employed to separate the organics into different subtypes. Two types of secondary organic aerosol with different degrees of oxidation consisted of 43% of total organics. 12Prognostic value of interim ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma显示文摘Objective: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous disease. The prognostic factor currently used is not accurate enough to predict the outcomes of patients with DLBCL. The prognostic significance of interim PET/CT in DLBCL remains controversial. The aim of this study is to determine the predictive value of interim 18F-FDG PET/CT after first-line treatment in patients with DLBCL. Methods: Thirty-two patients with DLBCL underwent baseline, interim and post-treatment 18F-FDG PET/CT scans. Imaging results were analyzed for the survival of patients via software SPSS 13.0, retrospectively. Results: Thirty-one of the 32 patients were treated with R-CHOP regimen, and interim 18F-FDG PET/CT of 24 patients was performed after 2 cycles of treatment. After a median follow-up period of 16.7 months, the 2-year progression-free survival (PFS) rates were significantly different between the groups above and below SUV max cut-off value of 2.5 (P=0.039). No significant differences were found in the 2-year PFS rates if SUV max cut-off values were set as 2.0 and 3.0, respectively (P=0.360; P=0.113). 13Characterization of particle number size distribution and new particle formation in Southern China显示文摘Knowledge of particle number size distribution(PND) and new particle formation(NPF)events in Southern China is essential for mitigation strategies related to submicron particles and their effects on regional air quality,haze,and human health.In this study,seven field measurement campaigns were conducted from December 2013 to May 2015 using a scanning mobility particle sizer(SMPS) at four sites in Southern China,including three urban sites and one background site.Particles were measured in the size range of15-515 nm,and the median particle number concentrations(PNCs) were found to vary in the range of 0.3× 10~4-2.2 × 10~4 cn^(-3) at the urban sites and were approximately 0.2 × 10~4 cm^(-3) at the background site.The peak diameters at the different sites varied largely from 22 to 102 nm.The PNCs in the Aitken mode(25-100 nm) at the urban sites were up to 10 times higher than they were at the background site,indicating large primary emissions from traffic at the urban sites.The diurnal variations of PNCs were significantly influenced by both rush hour traffic at the urban sites and NPF events.The frequencies of NPF events at the different sites were0%-30%,with the highest frequency occurring at an urban site during autumn.With higher SO_2 concentrations and higher ambient temperatures being necessary,NPF at the urban site was found to be more influenced by atmospheric oxidizing capability,while NPF at the background site was limited by the condensation sink.This study provides a unique dataset of particle number and size information in various environments in Southern China,which can help understand the sources,formation,and the climate forcing of aerosols in this quickly developing region,as well as help constrain and validate NPF modeling.Xiaofeng Huang Chuan Wang Jianfei Peng Lingyan He Liming Cao Qiao Zhu Jie Cui Zhijun Wu Min Hu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:4
14Locomotor activity and anxiety status, but not spatial working memory,are affected in mice after brief exposure to cuprizone显示文摘Chronic long-term exposure to cuprizone causes severe brain demyelination in mice,which leads to changes in locomotion,working memory and anxiety.These findings suggest the importance of intact myelin for these behaviors.This study aimed to investigate the possible behavioral changes in mice with mild oligodendrocyte/myelin damage that parallels the white matter changes seen in the brains of patients with psychiatric disporders.We used the cuprizonetreated mouse model to test both tissue changes and behavioral functions(locomotor activity,anxiety status,and spatial working memory).The results showed that mice given cuprizone in their diet for 7 days had no significant myelin breakdown as evaluated by immunohistochemical staining for myelin basic protein,while the number of mature oligodendrocytes was reduced.The number and length of Caspr protein clusters,a structural marker of the node of Ranvier,did not change.The locomotor activity of the cuprizonetreated mice increased whereas their anxiety levels were lower than in normal controls;spatial working memory,however,did not change.These results,for the first time,link emotion-related behavior with mild white matter damage in cuprizone-treated mice.Handi Zhang Yanbo Zhang Haiyun Xu Lingyan Wang Jinsong Zhao Junhui Wang Zhijun Zhang Qingrong Tan Jiming Kong Qingjun Huang Xin-Min Li 2013Neuroscience Bulletin2013,29,5:4

16Prognostic value of pre-and post-transplantation 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography results in non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients receiving autologous stem cell transplantation显示文摘Objective: High-dose chemotherapy(HDC) followed by autologous stem cell transplantation(ASCT) is the standard of care in the upfront or relapsed/refractory setting in some patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL).However,a proportion of patients do not respond to ASCT.^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG) positron emission tomography(PET)/computed tomography(CT) has been widely used for staging,response evaluation,and prognosis prediction.Here,we investigated the prognostic role of PET/CT in NHL patients before and after ASCT.Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at Peking University Cancer Hospital.All NHL patients who underwent ASCT between March 2010 and July 2016 were identified.Patients who had PET/CT scan before and after ASCT were included.Deauville criteria(5-point scale) were used to interpret PET scans.Univariate and multivariate survival analyses were performed using Cox regression.The predictive value of PET scanning was estimated by comparing the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve.Results: In total,79 patients were enrolled in this study.In univariate analysis,pre-and post-ASCT PET result was identified as prognostic factors for 3-year progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).Patients with negative pre-ASCT PET result demonstrated significantly better PFS(84.2% vs.54.2%) and OS(89.2% vs.63.6%) than patients with positive pre-ASCT PET result.PFS(91.6% vs.25.3%) and OS(96.5% vs.36.8%) were also significantly different between patients with negative and positive post-ASCT PET result.Multivariate analysis also showed a significant association between survival and post-ASCT PET result.ROC analysis revealed that the predictive value of post-ASCT PET result was superior to that of pre-ASCT PET result alone.Combined pre-and post-ASCT PET result is better for predicting outcomes in patients with NHL receiving transplantation.Deauville criteria score >3 was identified as the best cutoff value for post-ASCT PET.Conclusions: Post-ASCT PET result was more important than pre-ASCT PET result in predicting outcomes for NHL patients who underwent ASCT.The prognostic significance can be improved when combining preASCT PET result with post-ASCT PET result.Deauville criteria can be used for interpreting PET scans in this scenario.Zhitao Ying Lan Mi Xuejuan Wang Yuewei Zhang Zhi Yang Yuqin Song Xiaopei Wang WenZheng Ningjing Lin Meifeng Tu Yan Xie Lingyan Ping Chen Zhang Weiping Liu LijuanDeng Jun Zhu 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6:3
17Optimization of the Ultrasonic-assisted Extraction Process for Protocatechuic Acid from Emilia sonchifolia DC by Response Surface Methodology显示文摘[Objectives] This study was conducted to optimize the extraction process of protocatechuic acid from Emilia sonchifolia DC. [Methods] The optimal extraction conditions were determined by single factor,response surface analysis and variance analysis,and the content of protocatechuic acid was determined by HPLC. [Results] The protocatechuic acid standard curve equation was: y = 1 435 x + 8 403,R^2= 0. 999 8,indicating a good linear relationship. The optimal extraction conditions were as follows: a temperature at 80 ℃,an extraction time of 1 h,a material-to-liquid ratio at 1:10 and an ultrasonic power of 600 W,and the content of protocatechuic acid extracted was 1. 93 mg/g. The method showed a RSD of 0. 41%,less than 2%,and the detection limit was 0. 0000047261 g/ml.The experimental sample X1 was the low-level 0. 1 mg/ml standard solution,which showed recovery of protocatechuic acid between 100.8% and 105.2%,with a RSD of 0. 013%;and the sample X2 was the high-level 1. 0 mg/ml standard solution,which exhibited recovery between 100. 6% and 102. 2%,with a RSD of 0.076%. Thus,the recovery was high,and the requirements of the performance index were met. 19Phosphoester modified poly(ethylenimine) as efficient and low cytotoxic genevectors显示文摘Cyclic phosphoester monomer ethyl ethylene phosphate (EEP) modified poly(ethylenimine) (PEI),denoted as PEI-EEP,was developed for gene delivery.Three PEI-EEP polymers were synthesized and their structures were characterized by 1H and 31P NMR methods.All the PEI-EEP polymers could condense DNA efficiently at N/P ratios higher than 0.5/1.The physiochemical characteristics of PEI-EEP/DNA complexes were analyzed by particle size and zeta potential measurements.The particle sizes of complexes were around 160–250 nm,and their zeta potentials were around 30–45 mV at the N/P ratios ranging from 10/1 to 50/1.In vitro cell viability and transfection ability were evaluated in HEK293 and HeLa cells using PEI as the control.The cytotoxicity of PEI-EEP and PEI-EEP/DNA complexes was lower than that of PEI and its complexes with DNA.The transfection efficiency of PEI-EEP/DNA complexes was correlated to modification degrees with phosphoester.When the modification of phosphoester to PEI was moderate,the PEI-EEP1/DNA and PEI-EEP2/DNA complexes exhibited comparable or even higher transfection ability than PEI/DNA complex at its optimal N/P ratio in the absence of serum.However,transfection efficiency of PEI-EEP3 reduced dramatically.More importantly,the PEI-EEP exhibited higher transfection efficiency in the presence of 10% serum than that without serum.Therefore,PEI-EEP polymers may be attractive vectors for non-viral gene therapy.DU JinZhi TANG LingYan YUAN YouYong WANG Jun 2011Science China Chemistry2011,54,2:3
