2Cloning and Characterization of Largemouth Bass(Micropterus salmoides) Myostatin Encoding Gene and Its Promoter显示文摘Myostatin or GDF-8,a member of the transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) superfamily,has been demonstrated to be a negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass in mammals. In the present study,we obtained a 5.64 kb sequence of myostatin encoding gene and its promoter from largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides) . The myostatin encoding gene consisted of three exons(488 bp,371 bp and 1779 bp,respectively) and two introns(390 bp and 855 bp,respectively) . The intron-exon boundaries were conservative in comparison with those of mammalian myostatin encoding genes,whereas the size of introns was smaller than that of mammals. Sequence analysis of 1.569 kb of the largemouth bass myostatin gene promoter region revealed that it contained two TATA boxes,one CAAT box and nine putative E-boxes. Putative muscle growth response elements for myocyte enhancer factor 2(MEF2) ,serum response factor(SRF) ,activator protein 1(AP1) ,etc.,and muscle-specific Mt binding site(MTBF) were also detected. Some of the transcription factor binding sites were conserved among five teleost species. 8A hierarchical bilayer architecture for complex tissue regeneration显示文摘Engineering a complete,physiologically functional,periodontal complex structure remains a great clinical challenge due to the highly hierarchical architecture of the periodontium and coordinated regulation of multiple growth factors required to induce stem cell multilineage differentiation.Using biomimetic self-assembly and microstamping techniques,we construct a hierarchical bilayer architecture consisting of intrafibrillarly mineralized collagen resembling bone and cementum,and unmineralized parallel-aligned fibrils mimicking periodontal ligament.The prepared biphasic scaffold possesses unique micro/nano structure,differential mechanical properties,and growth factor-rich microenvironment between the two phases,realizing a perfect simulation of natural periodontal hard/soft tissue interface.The interconnected porous hard compartment with a Young’s modulus of 1409.00±160.83 MPa could induce cross-arrangement and osteogenic differentiation of stem cells in vitro,whereas the micropatterned soft compartment with a Young’s modulus of 42.62±4.58 MPa containing abundant endogenous growth factors,could guide parallel arrangement and fibrogenic differentiation of stem cells in vitro.After implantation in critical-sized complete periodontal tissue defect,the biomimetic bilayer architecture potently reconstructs native periodontium with the insertion of periodontal ligament fibers into newly formed cementum and alveolar bone by recruiting host mesenchymal stem cells and activating the transforming growth factor beta 1/Smad3 signaling pathway.Taken together,integration of self-assembly and microstamping strategies could successfully fabricate a hierarchical bilayer architecture,which exhibits great potential for recruiting and regulating host stem cells to promote synergistic regeneration of hard/soft tissues.Min Yu Dan Luo Jing Qiao Jiusi Guo Danqing He Shanshan Jin Lin Tang Yu Wang Xin Shi Jing Mao Shengjie Cui Yu Fu Zixin Li Dawei Liu Ting Zhang Chi Zhang Zhou Li Yongsheng Zhou Yan Liu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:0
9Activity-density and spatial distribution of termites on a fine-scale in a tropical rainforest in Xishuangbanna,southwest China显示文摘The community composition and activity-density of termites can influence nutrient cycling and other ecological functions.However,the spatial distribution and the activity-density of termites on a fine-scale in tropical forests are still unknown.We checked the spatial distribution patterns of the feeding groups and species of termites and their co-occurrence pattern in a 1-ha(100 m×100 m)plot,and their correlatiion with the environmental factors.We used a standard protocol to collect termite assemblages and classified them into five feeding groups based on their preferrred diet:fungus growers,litter feeders,soil feeders,soil-wood feeders,and wood feeders.We measured the environmental factors:soil pH,litter mass,aboveground plant biomass,and topographic position index(TPI).Soil-wood feeders showed the highest activity-density,followed by wood feeders,fungus growers,soil feeders,and litter feeders.Soil-wood feeders and fungus growers demonstated a strong correlation while litter feeders showed weak correlations with other feeding groups.Termite feeding groups and most of the termite species displayed a positive association with the high TPI and the low soil pH patches.Our results indicated that the examined environmental factors influenced the termite community assemblages and distribution patterns on a fine-scale in tropical rainforests.Myo Thant Xiaobing Lin Anjana JAtapattu Min Cao Shang-wen Xia Shengjie Liu Xiaodong Yang 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,1:0
10Decellularized extracellular matrix:A promising strategy for skin repair and regeneration显示文摘The skin is an important organ of the human body that resists external threats but lacks sufficient self-regeneration ability when severe damage occurs.However,most of the available skin substitutes cannot achieve ideal restoration of complex structures and multiple functions of native skin tissues.Fortunately,the advent of decellularized extracellular matrix(dECM)offers a promising approach to overcome these obstacles.The dECM,derived from the natural extracellular matrix(ECM),possesses a similar structure and composition,which constructs an environment favorable for cell performance in regeneration.Moreover,dECM retains good bioactivity,low immunogenicity,and high availability,making it a suitable biomaterial for skin repair and regeneration.In this review,various decellularization methods and subsequent evaluations of dECM are introduced first,and the main sources of dECM are then presented.Furthermore,the recent progress of dECM-based biomaterials applied in skin regeneration and future perspectives are summarized.Shengjie Jiang Yu Zhuang Ming Cai Xudong Wang Kaili Lin 2023Engineered Regeneration2023,4,4:0
11Biodegradable calcium sulfide-based nanomodulators for H_(2)S-boosted Ca^(2+)-involved synergistic cascade cancer therapy显示文摘Hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)is the most recently discovered gasotransmitter molecule that activates multiple intracellular signaling pathways and exerts concentration-dependent antitumor effect by interfering with mitochondrial respiration and inhibiting cellular ATP generation.Inspired by the fact that H_(2)S can also serve as a promoter for intracellular Ca^(2+)influx,tumor-specific nanomodulators(I-CaS@PP)have been constructed by encapsulating calcium sulfide(CaS)and indocyanine green(ICG)into methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA-PEG).I-CaS@PP can achieve tumor-specific biodegradability with high biocompatibility and pH-responsive H_(2)S release.The released H_(2)S can effectively suppress the catalase(CAT)activity and synergize with released Ca^(2+)to facilitate abnormal Ca^(2+)retention in cells,thus leading to mitochondria destruction and amplification of oxidative stress.Mitochondrial dysfunction further contributes to blocking ATP synthesis and downregulating heat shock proteins(HSPs)expression,which is beneficial to overcome the heat endurance of tumor cells and strengthen ICG-induced photothermal performance.Such a H_(2)S-boosted Ca^(2+)-involved tumor-specific therapy exhibits highly effective tumor inhibition effect with almost complete elimination within 14-day treatment,indicating the great prospect of CaS-based nanomodulators as antitumor therapeutics.Chuchu Lin Chenyi Huang Zhaoqing Shi Meitong Ou Shengjie Sun Mian Yu Ting Chen Yunfei Yi Xiaoyuan Ji Feng Lv Meiying Wu Lin Mei 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,12:0
12State-of-Health Map of Lithium-ion Batteries Established by ICE Map Approach显示文摘State-of-health(SOH) is one of the main factors for lithium-ion batteries that indicate their life information. Thus it is essential to estimate SOH accurately during the operation of lithium-ion batteries. In this paper, an SOH map is proposed to illustrate the SOH of lithium-ion batteries by an internal combustion engine(ICE) map approach. Both direct current internal resistance(DCR) and open circuit voltage(OCV) are key parameters of lithium-ion batteries, which are obtained through metering and computing. Due to serious affection by environmental temperature, temperature translation is proposed to translate DCR/OCV of different temperature into a nominal value at 25 ℃. Compared with ICE map, SOH map is illustrated by the nominal DCR and OCV, which can be looked up to get a nominal SOH. 13Nanofibril Organization in Silk Fiber as Inspiration for Ductile and Damage-Tolerant Fiber Design显示文摘Ductile and damage-tolerant fibers(DDTFs)are desired in aerospace engineering,mechanical engineering,and biomedical engineering because of their ability to prevent the catastrophic sudden structural/mechanical failure.However,in practice,design and fabrication of DDTFs remain a major challenge due to finite fiber size and limited processing techniques.In this regard,animal silks can provide inspirations.They are hierarchically structured protein fibers with an elegant trade-off of mechanical strength,extensibility and damage tolerance,making them one of the toughest materials known.In this article,we confirmed that nanofibril organization could improve the ductility and damage-tolerance of silk fibers through restricted fibril shearing,controlled slippage and cleavage.Inspired by these strategies,we further established a rational strategy to produce polyamide DDTFs by combining electrospinning and yarn-spinning techniques.The resultant polymeric DDTFs show a silk-like fracture resistance behavior,indicating potential applications in smart textile,biomedicine,and mechanical engineering.Shihui Lin Chao Ye Wenwen Zhang Anchang Xu Shixian Chen Jing Ren Shengjie Ling 2019Advanced Fiber Materials2019,1,3:0
14Ultrafast photoexcitation dynamics behavior of hydrogen-bonded polyfluorenol显示文摘Exciton behavior is crucial to the exploitation of light-emitting conjugated polymer(LCPs)for optoelectronic devices.Singlet excitons are easily trapped by the intrinsically defect structures.Herein,we set a polyfluorenol(PPFOH)as an example to systematically investigate its photophysical behavior to check the role of defect structures in LCPs.According to time-resolved photoluminescence analysis,the feature emission peaks from individual chain of PPFOH in diluted DMF solution is effectively avoided the influence of fluorenone formation,but the residual green-band emission at 550nm is easily observed in the PL spectra of PPFOH dilute toluene solution obtained delay 1.5 ns,confirmed the formation of“guest”physical aggregation-induced defect structure.Remarkably,efficient and ultrafast energy transfer from individual chain to defect structure is observed in PPFOH films.Interestingly,the efficient energy transfer happened for the film obtained from DMF solution(200 ps)than those of toluene ones(600 ps).Meanwhile,compared to relatively stable green-band emission in PPFOH film from toluene solution,red-shifted emission peak(11 nm)of PPFOH film from DMF solutions exposed to saturated DNT vapor also confirmed their different aggregation-induced green-band emission.Therefore,this aggregation defect structures are influenced on the photophysical property of LCPs in solid states.Man Xu Chuanxin Wei Yunlong Zhang Hao Li Jingyao Ma Jinyi Lin Shengjie Wang Wei Xue Qi Wei Linghai Xie Wei Huang 2024Chinese Chemical Letters2024,35,1:0
15Quantitative Evaluation of Pseudo Strain Signals Caused by Yarn Structural Deformation显示文摘Yarn-based strain sensors(YSSs)have shown great promising in the fabrication of wearable devices for their good comfortability and fexible designability.However,the false signals generated by the changes in the yarn structure of the YSSs are usually ignored.In this study,the generation,the characteristic,and the prediction of these signals were investigated.We recognized that these signals are composed of two negative pseudo peaks and a spurious resistance response plateau.These responses are found to have nothing in common with a true tensile strain,but be attributed to plastic deformation of the fbers.This is due to the fact that the deformation of YSSs exceeds the linear elastic range of the fbers.Although the use of pure elastic fbers can eliminate the spurious resistance response plateau,it will lead to an increase in the pseudo peak to the value compared with a true strain signal peak.Hence,a theoretical model was established to decouple the real signals from the false responses,ensuring the high sensing accuracy of YSSs for applications in wearable devices and artifcial intelligence interfaces.This work provides an in-depth understanding of the response of the YSSs,which might provide inspiration and guidance in the design of high-accuracy fber-based strain sensors.Shihui Lin Leitao Cao Zhuochen Lv Jing Ren Shengjie Ling 2022Advanced Fiber Materials2022,4,2:0
