| 2 | Electrochemical micromachining of micro-dimple arrays on cylindrical inner surfaces using a dry-film photoresist显示文摘The application of surface textures has been employed to improve the tribological performance of various mechanical components. Various techniques have been used for the application of surface textures such as micro-dimple arrays, but the fabrication of such arrays on cylindrical inner surfaces remains a challenge. In this study, a dry-film photoresist is used as a mask during through-mask electrochemical micromachining to successfully prepare micro-dimple arrays with dimples 94 lm in diameter and 22.7 lm deep on cylindrical inner surfaces, with a machining time of 9 s and an applied voltage of 8 V. The versatility of this method is demonstrated, as are its potential low cost and high efficiency. | 3 | Simulation and experimental investigation of inner-jet electrochemical grinding of GH4169 alloy显示文摘GH4169 alloy is one of the most commonly used materials in aero engine turbine blades,but its machinability is poor because of its excellent strength at high temperatures. Electrochemical machining(ECM) has become a common method for machining this alloy and other difficult-tomachine materials. Electrochemical grinding(ECG) is a hybrid process combining ECM and conventional grinding. In this paper, investigations conducted on inner-jet ECG of GH4169 alloy are described. Two types of inner-jet ECG grinding wheels were used to machine a flat bottom surface.The machining process was simulated using COMSOL software, and machining gaps under different machining parameters were obtained. In addition, maximum feed rates and maximum material removal rates under different machining parameters were studied experimentally. The maximum sizes and the uniformity of the distributions of the gaps machined by the two grinding wheels were compared. | 4 | Influence of Interfacial Bonding between Metal Droplets on Tensile Properties of 7075 Aluminum Billets by Additive Manufacturing Technique显示文摘7075 aluminum billets were fabricated by micro droplet deposition manufacturing technique,and the influence of interfacial bonding between metal droplets on the tensile properties was studied.Three sets of samples were manufactured under different temperature conditions,and their mechanical properties were compared.The results show that the temperature of the metal droplets and substrate signi?cantly affect the tensile strength of the sample.Moreover,with proper temperature setting,the 7075 aluminum billets manufactured by micro metal droplet deposition could achieve very good mechanical properties with a tensile strength of 373 MPa and an elongation of 9.95%,which are very similar to those of an extruded sample.Moreover,a metallurgical bonding diagram based on numerical calculations of interfacial temperature was established to predict the interfacial bonding state.In addition,the fracture morphologies of these specimens were observed.It is indicated that there was a signi?cant transformation of failure mechanism with the improvement of metallurgical bonding,which agreed well with the numerical results. | Hansong Zuo Hejun Li Lehua Qi Songyi Zhong | 2016 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,5: | 6 |
| 5 | Improvement of machining consistency during through-mask electrochemical large-area machining显示文摘Electrochemical machining(ECM) is an important machining technique for the aeronautical manufacturing industry. Through-mask ECM is a form of ECM for machining metal parts with a hole array. In order to extend the machining area, a serpentine flow channel with multiple curves was used for through-mask ECM. With the extension of the flow channel, ensuring a machining consistency along the flow channel has been a challenge. The electrolyte conductivity is the main factor affecting the machining consistency. To analyze the change rules of the electrolyte conductivity, variations in the bubble rate and the temperature of the electrolyte in the electrolyte flow were explored under different power sources. Results indicate that pulse-power machining can reduce variations in the bubble rate and the temperature in the serpentine flow channel, and then the electrolyte conductivity can be stabilized within a very small range. Experiments using through-mask ECM were conducted in two types of power sources. Experimental results support the importance of pulse-power machining. A 14×28 hole array with a 2.5 mm diameter was fabricated by a pulsed power source. | 7 | Embedding physics domain knowledge into a Bayesian network enables layer-by-layer process innovation for photovoltaics显示文摘Process optimization of photovoltaic devices is a time-intensive,trial-and-error endeavor,which lacks full transparency of the underlying physics and relies on user-imposed constraints that may or may not lead to a global optimum.Herein,we demonstrate that embedding physics domain knowledge into a Bayesian network enables an optimization approach for gallium arsenide(GaAs)solar cells that identifies the root cause(s)of underperformance with layer-by-layer resolution and reveals alternative optimal process windows beyond traditional black-box optimization.Our Bayesian network approach links a key GaAs process variable(growth temperature)to material descriptors(bulk and interface properties,e.g.,bulk lifetime,doping,and surface recombination)and device performance parameters(e.g.,cell efficiency).For this purpose,we combine a Bayesian inference framework with a neural network surrogate device-physics model that is 100×faster than numerical solvers.With the trained surrogate model and only a small number of experimental samples,our approach reduces significantly the time-consuming intervention and characterization required by the experimentalist.As a demonstration of our method,in only five metal organic chemical vapor depositions,we identify a superior growth temperature profile for the window,bulk,and back surface field layer of a GaAs solar cell,without any secondary measurements,and demonstrate a 6.5%relative AM1.5G efficiency improvement above traditional grid search methods. | Zekun Ren Felipe Oviedo Maung Thway Siyu I.P.Tian Yue Wang Hansong Xue Jose Dario Perea Mariya Layurova Thomas Heumueller Erik Birgersson Armin G.Aberle Christoph J.Brabec Rolf Stangl Qianxiao Li Shijing Sun Fen Lin Ian Marius Peters Tonio Buonassisi | 2020 | npj Computational Materials2020,,1: | 2 |

However, the deformations of the soft mold during imprinting process which can cause serious consequences have to be understood for the practical application of the process. This paper investigated the deformation of the soft mold by theoretical analyses, numerical simulations, and experimental studies. We simulated the mold deformation using a simplified model and finite element method. The simulation and the related experimental results agree well with each other. Through the investigation, the mechanism and affected factors of the mold deformation are revealed, and some useful conclusions have been achieved. | 17 | Semi-interpenetrating polymer networks toward sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) membranes for high concentration direct methanol fuel cell显示文摘Low methanol permeability of proton exchange membranes (PEMs) is greatly important for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). Here, sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) based semiinterpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) are successfully prepared by interpenetrating SPEEK into the in-situ synthesized crosslinking networks. The polymeric networks are formed by the covalent bonds between bromobenzyl groups of bro mo methylated poly (phenylene oxide) and amine groups of diamine linkers as well as the ionic bonds between amine species and sulfonated groups. Two linkers without and with sulfonated groups are applied to fabricate the semi-IPNs. The core properties of the membranes, like phase separation, water uptake, proton conductivity and methanol permeability, are systematically studied and compared. The DMFCs assembled by using the semi-IPN membranes display better performance than Nafion 117 in high concentration methanol solutions. | 18 | Application of diatomite as an effective polysulfides adsorbent for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The lithium–sulfur batteries show the great potential to be the most promising candidate for high energy applications. However, the shuttling of soluble polysulfides deteriorates the battery performance tremendously. To suppress the diffusion of soluble polysulfides, diatomite that has abundant natural three-dimensional ordered pores is incorporated into the cathode to trap polysulfides. The composite cathode material(S-DM-AB for short), including sulfur(S), diatomite(DM), and acetylene black(AB) is prepared by an impregnation method. For comparison, another composite cathode material(S-AB for short) including sulfur and acetylene black is also prepared by the same method. The battery with S-DMAB composite cathode material delivers a discharge capacity of 531.4 m Ah/g after 300 cycles at 2 C with a capacity retention of 51.6% at room temperature. By contrast, the battery with S-AB composite cathode material delivered a capacity of only 196.9 m Ah/g with a much lower capacity retention of 18.6% under the same condition.
