13D bioprinting for biomedical devices and tissue engineering: A review of recent trends and advances显示文摘3D printing,an additive manufacturing based technology for precise 3D construction,is currently widely employed to enhance applicability and function of cell laden scaffolds.Research on novel compatible biomaterials for bioprinting exhibiting fast crosslinking properties is an essential prerequisite toward advancing 3D printing applications in tissue engineering.Printability to improve fabrication process and cell encapsulation are two of the main factors to be considered in development of 3D bioprinting.Other important factors include but are not limited to printing fidelity,stability,crosslinking time,biocompatibility,cell encapsulation and proliferation,shear-thinning properties,and mechanical properties such as mechanical strength and elasticity.In this review,we recite recent promising advances in bioink development as well as bioprinting methods.Also,an effort has been made to include studies with diverse types of crosslinking methods such as photo,chemical and ultraviolet(UV).We also propose the challenges and future outlook of 3D bioprinting application in medical sciences and discuss the high performance bioinks.Soroosh Derakhshanfar Rene Mbeleck Kaige Xu Xingying Zhang Wen Zhong Malcolm Xing 2018Bioactive Materials2018,3,2:21
2Resveratrol elongates the lifespan and improves antioxidant activity in the silkworm Bombyx mori显示文摘A number of research has shown that the plant polyphenol resveratrol,one of the most prominent small molecules,has beneficial protective effects in multiple organisms,including worms,flies,and killifish.To understand the effects of resveratrol on lifespan,we evaluated its effects in the silkworm Bombyx mori.In this study,we found that lifespan was significantly prolonged in both female and male silkworms treated with resveratrol.Silkworm larval weight was significantly increased from day 3 of the 5th larval instar(L5D3)to day 7 of the 5th larval instar(L5D7).However,the weight of the pupa,cocoon,and total cocoon was not significantly different in female silkworms with resveratrol treatment than that in controls.Meanwhile,resveratrol significantly improved the thermotolerance of the silkworms,which enhanced their survival rate.Moreover,antioxidant activity was increased by resveratrol in both female and male silkworms.Furthermore,an antioxidant-related signalling pathway,SIRT7-FoxO-GST,was activated in silkworms with resveratrol treatment.Collectively,these results help us to understand the molecular pathways underlying resveratrol induced pro-longevity effects and indicate that silkworm is a promising animal model for evaluating the effects of lifespan-extending drugs.Jiangbo Song Lian Liu Kaige Hao Shuang Mao Yongxi Tang Xiaoling Tong Fangyin Dai 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,3:4
3Core-shell Ni_(3)Sn_(2)@C particles anchore d on 3D N-dope d porous carbon skeleton for modulated electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘Synthesizing multi-component composites via a straightforward,reliable,and scalable approach has been challenging.Herein,a three-dimensional nitrogen-doped porous carbon decorated with core-shell Ni_(3)Sn_(2)@carbon particles(3D N-PC/Ni_(3)Sn_(2)@C)was customized through a simple salt-template pyrolysis approach.The formed Ni_(3)Sn_(2) particles are perfectly surrounded by crystalline carbon layers and em-bedded in 3D carbon walls during pyrolysis.The dual protection of crystalline carbon layers and porous carbon walls guarantees the electrical conductivity and stability of Ni_(3)Sn_(2).The intriguing 3D and core-shell structure coupled with the introduction of multiple components empowers the composite with rich heterogeneous interface and conductive network,and contributes to the lightweight,corrosion resistance,oxidation resistance,and superior stability of electromagnetic(EM)wave absorbers.The N-PC/Ni_(3)Sn_(2)@C possesses the minimum reflection loss(RL min)of-54.01 dB and wide effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 7.36 GHz under a low filler content of less than 10%.The concept in the work proposes a facile,eco-friendly,and scalable pathway for the synthesis of other heterogeneous structures of EM wave ab-sorbers.Hongxia Zhang Kaige Sun Kangkang Sun Lei Chen Guanglei Wu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,27:4
4Optimization of evidence-based research in the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease with traditional Chinese medicine:A comprehensive review显示文摘Coronary heart disease(CHD) has severely impacted the lives and health of patients for ages. Although the modern methods used for the prevention and treatment of CHD have been increasingly perfected,clinical problems remain that require solutions. In the prevention and treatment of CHD with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), great therapeutic advantages have been demonstrated. However, the expression of its advantages relies on scientific evidence-based research and evaluation, which require further optimization and improvement. Therefore, this review aims to comprehensively emphasize our understanding of the current deficiencies in TCM evidence-based studies and the necessity of adopting scientific evidence-based optimization methods for use in research. 5Viscosity and degradation controlled injectable hydrogel for esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection显示文摘Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)is a common procedure to treat early and precancerous gastrointestinal lesions.Via submucosal injection,a liquid cushion is created to lift and separate the lesion and malignant part from the muscular layer where the formed indispensable space is convenient for endoscopic incision.Saline is a most common submucosal injection liquid,but the formed liquid pad lasts only a short time,and thus repeated injections increase the potential risk of adverse events.Hydrogels with high osmotic pressure and high viscosity are used as an alternate;however,with some drawbacks such as tissue damage,excessive injection resistance,and high cost.Here,we reported a nature derived hydrogel of gelatin-oxidized alginate(G-OALG).Based on the rheological analysis and compare to commercial endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)solution(0.25%hyaluronic acid,HA),a designed G-OALG hydrogel of desired concentration and composition showed higher performances in controllable gelation and injectability,higher viscosity and more stable structures.The G-OALG gel also showed lower propulsion resistance than 0.25%HA in the injection force assessment under standard endoscopic instruments,which eased the surgical operation.In addition,the G-OALG hydrogel showed good in vivo degradability biocompatibility.By comparing the results acquired via ESD to normal saline,the G-OALG shows great histocompatibility and excellent endoscopic injectability,and enables create a longer-lasting submucosal cushion.All the features have been confirmed in the living both pig and rat models.The G-OALG could be a promising submucosal injection agent for esophageal ESD.Chaoqiang Fan Kaige Xu Yu Huang Shuang Liu Tongchuan Wang Wei Wang Weichao Hu Lu Liu Malcolm Xing Shiming Yang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,4:3

8Melon short internode(CmSi)encodes an ERECTA-like receptor kinase regulating stem elongation through auxin signaling显示文摘Plant height is one of the most important agronomic traits that directly determines plant architecture,and compact or dwarf plants can allow for increased planting density and land utilization as well as increased lodging resistance and economic yield.At least four dwarf/semidwarf genes have been identified in different melon varieties,but none of them have been cloned,and little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying internode elongation in melon.Here,we report map-based cloning and functional characterization of the first semidwarf gene short internode(Cmsi)in melon,which encodes an ERECTA-like receptor kinase regulating internode elongation.Spatial-temporal expression analyses revealed that CmSI exhibited high expression in the vascular bundle of the main stem during internode elongation.The expression level of CmSI was positively correlated with stem length in the different melon varieties examined.Ectopic expression of CmSI in Arabidopsis and cucumber suggested CmSI as a positive regulator of internode elongation in both species.Phytohormone quantitation and transcriptome analysis showed that the auxin content and the expression levels of a number of genes involved in the auxin signaling pathway were altered in the semidwarf mutant,including several well-known auxin transporters,such as members of the ABCB family and PINFORMED genes.A melon polar auxin transport protein CmPIN2 was identified by protein–protein interaction assay as physically interacting with CmSI to modulate auxin signaling.Thus,CmSI functions in an auxin-dependent regulatory pathway to control internode elongation in melon.Our findings revealed that the ERECTA family gene CmSI regulates stem elongation in melon through auxin signaling,which can directly affect polar auxin transport.Sen Yang Kaige Zhang Huayu Zhu Xiaojing Zhang Wenkai Yan Nana Xu Dongming Liu Jianbin Hu Yufeng Wu Yiqun Weng Luming Yang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2
9Nociceptive behavioural assessments in mouse models of temporomandibular joint disorders显示文摘Orofacial pain or tenderness is a primary symptom associated with temporomandibular joint(TMJ)disorders(TMDs).To understand the pathological mechanisms underlying TMDs,several mouse models have been developed,including mechanical stimulus-induced TMD and genetic mouse models.However,a lack of feasible approaches for assessing TMD-related nociceptive behaviours in the orofacial region of mice has hindered the in-depth study of TMD-associated mechanisms.This study aimed to explore modifications of three existing methods to analyse nociceptive behaviours using two TMD mouse models:(1)mechanical allodynia was tested using von Frey filaments in the mouse TMJ region by placing mice in specially designed chambers;(2)bite force was measured using the Economical Load and Force(ELF)system;and(3)spontaneous feeding behaviour tests,including eating duration and frequency,were analysed using the Laboratory Animal Behaviour Observation Registration and Analysis System(LABORAS).We successfully assessed changes in nociceptive behaviours in two TMD mouse models,a unilateral anterior crossbite(UAC)-induced TMD mouse model and aβ-catenin conditional activation mouse model.We found that the UAC model andβ-catenin conditional activation mouse model were significantly associated with signs of increased mechanical allodynia,lower bite force,and decreased spontaneous feeding behaviour,indicating manifestations of TMD.These behavioural changes were consistent with the cartilage degradation phenotype observed in these mouse models.Our studies have shown reliable methods to analyse nociceptive behaviours in mice and may indicate that these methods are valid to assess signs of TMD in mice.Jun Li Kaige Ma Dan Yi Chun-do Oh Di Chen 2020International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,3:2
10Generalized Switched-Capacitor Step-up Multilevel Inverter Employing Single DC Source显示文摘In this paper,a new generalized step-up multilevel DC-AC converter is proposed,which is suitable for applications with low-voltage input sources,such as photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicles.This inverter can achieve a high voltage gain by controlling the series-parallel conversion of the DC power supply and capacitors.Only one DC voltage source and a few power devices are employed.The maximum output voltage and the number of output levels can be further increased through the switched-capacitor unit’s extension and the submodule cascaded extension.Moreover,the capacitor voltages are self-balanced without complicated voltage control circuits.The complementary operating mechanism between each pair of switches simplifies the modulation algorithm.The inductiveload ability is fully taken into account in the proposed inverter.Additionally,a remarkable characteristic of the inverter is that the charging and discharging states among different capacitors are synchronous,which reduces the voltage ripple of the frontend capacitors.The circuit structure,the working principle,the modulation strategy,the capacitors and losses analysis are presented in detail.Afterwards,the advantages of the proposed inverter are analyzed by comparing with other recently proposed inverters.Finally,the steady-state and dynamic performance of the proposed inverter is verified and validated by simulation and experiment.Yaoqiang Wang Kaige Wang Gen Li Fengjiang Wu Kewen Wang Jun Liang 2022CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2022,8,2:2
11Antibunching and superbunching photon correlations in pseudo-natural light显示文摘Since Hanbury Brown and Twiss revealed the photon bunching effect of a thermal light source in 1956,almost all studies in correlation optics have been based on light’s intensity fluctuation,regardless of fact that the polarization fluctuation is a basic attribute of natural light.In this work,we uncover the veil of the polarization fluctuation and corresponding photon correlations by proposing a new light source model,termed pseudo-natural light,embodying both intensity and polarization fluctuations.Unexpectedly,the strong antibunching and superbunching effects can be simultaneously realized in such a new source,whose second-order correlation coefficient g^((2))can be continuously modulated across 1.For the symmetric Bernoulli distribution of the polarization fluctuation,particularly,g^((2))can be in principle from 0 to unlimitedly large.In pseudo-natural light,while the bunching effects of both intensity and polarization fluctuations enhance the bunching to superbunching photon correlation,the antibunching correlation of the polarization fluctuation can also be extracted through the procedure of division operation in the experiment.The antibunching effect and the combination with the bunching one will arouse new applications in quantum imaging.As heuristic examples,we carry out high-quality positive or negative ghost imaging,and devise high-efficiency polarization-sensitive and edge-enhanced imaging.This work,therefore,sheds light on the development of multiple and broad correlation functions for natural light.Zhiyuan Ye Hai-Bo Wang Jun Xiong Kaige Wang 2022Photonics Research2022,10,3:2

13Preparation of Al-based amorphous coatings and their properties显示文摘Al_(86)Ni_(8)Co_(1)La_(1)Y_(2)Gd_(2) amorphous coatings were prepared using cold gas kinetic spray technology.The results show that Al_(86)Ni_(8)Co_(1)La_(1)Y_(2)Gd_(2) amorphous coatings are achieved with the porosity about 3.2%,thickness about 893 μm,the amount of amorphous phase about 82.5%,the hardness about 300 HV0.2.The corrosion potential and anti-corrosion life of 7075 T6 alloy aluminum are about-0.78 V and 72 h,respectively.The electrochemical analysis and neutral salt spray are about-0.69 V corrosion potential and 274 h anti-corrosion life for amorphous Al-based coatings,respectively.Therefore,the life of the Albased amorphous coatings is about 3.8 times that of 7075 T6 aluminum alloy.Besides,the failure mechanism was analyzed using TEM in this investigation.In a word,Al_(86)Ni_(8)Co_(1)La_(1)Y_(2)Gd_(2) coatings keep dense structure,high amorphous content,favorable amorphous phase stabilizing ability and longer anticorrosion life.That is,Al_(86)Ni_(8)Co_(1)La_(1)Y_(2)Gd_(2) coatings have better comprehensive properties.Therefore,these findings indicate that the present Al_(86)Ni_(8)Co_(1)La_(1)Y_(2)Gd_(2) amorphous coatings prepared using cold gas kinetic spray technique can protect aluminum alloy very well and they can be considered to be used in aviation field.Lei Jin Le Zhang Kaige Liu Zhigang Che Kai Li Ming Zhang Bo Zhang 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,3:1
