| 1 | Cerebral ischemia and neuroregeneration显示文摘Cerebral ischemia is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although stroke(a form of cerebral ischemia)-related costs are expected to reach 240.67 billion dollars by 2030, options for treatment against cerebral ischemia/stroke are limited. All therapies except anti-thrombolytics(i.e., tissue plasminogen activator) and hypothermia have failed to reduce neuronal injury, neurological deficits, and mortality rates following cerebral ischemia, which suggests that development of novel therapies again st stroke/cerebral ischemia are urgently needed. | 6 | Recycling Bayer and sintering red muds in brick production:a review显示文摘Red mud(RM)is a solid waste generated from the extraction of alumina from bauxite.It is estimated that more than1.5 billion tonnes of RM are produced annually worldwide.Stockpiling and landfilling of RM is toxic for the environment due to the presence of high quantities of alkali-generating minerals and metal ions.The high cost of RM treatment and limited land availability encourage the recycling and reuse of RM as construction materials.In many developing countries,brick remains the ubiquitous building material.Thus,it is reasonable to use brick as a medium to accommodate a large amount of RM.In this review,the properties of RM are analyzed and their applications in bricks are discussed.Two common types of RM,namely Bayer red mud(BRM)and sintering red mud(SRM),are introduced along with the methods to produce bricks from them through firing,cementing,and geopolymerization.High alkaline-based BRM is particularly useful as a raw material to produce fired brick and geopolymer brick,whereas SRM,which contains more dicalcium silicate(C_(2)S)and some cementitious phases,can be favorably used to produce cementing brick.RM geopolymer brick normally has more strength(up to 51 MPa)than fired and cementing bricks,and good durability(no efflorescence)with low energy consumption and CO_(2)emissions.Finally,several solutions have been suggested to resolve the issue of the radioactivity of RM brick,and strict regulation of its application has been imposed in some countries,such as China. | Yu-jia XIAO Michelle TIONG Kim Hung MO Ming-zhi GUO Tung-chai LING | 2022 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2022,23,5: | 1 |
| 7 | Nobiletin and tangeretin(citrus polymethoxyflavones): an overview on their chemistry, pharmacology and cytotoxic activities against breast cancer显示文摘The fruit peel of Citrus species(Chenpi),particularly those of mandarin oranges,is a useful source of food and medicine in China.Flavonoids from the citrus fruit peel are mainly polymethoxyflavones(PMFs),of which nobiletin and tangeretin are the most abundant components.In the present review,we summarized the cytotoxic activities of these two PMFs to breast cancer cells.Studies have reported that these two compounds inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells by inducing apoptosis,cytostatic cell death and cell cycle arrest,or by inhibiting cell proliferation,metastasis and tumour angiogenesis,depending on the molecular subtypes of breast cancer.In vitro and in vivo cytotoxic activities involve different molecular targets and signalling pathways.Analyses on the structure-activity relationship(SAR)of nobiletin and tangeretin have shown that the presence of a methoxy group at C8 and a hydroxyl group at C3 or C5 are essential for anti-proliferative activity.Some future perspectives and research needs are suggested.Sources of information are from Pub Med,Pub Med Central,Science Direct,Google Scholar,J-Stage,Pub Chem and CNKI using keyword search. | Eric Wei Chiang Chan Oi Yoon Michelle Soo Yong Hui Tan Siu Kuin Wong Hung Tuck Chan | 2020 | Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2020,29,7: | 0 |
