1Terrestrial carbon sinks in China and around the world and their contribution to carbon neutrality显示文摘Enhancing the terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink(referred to as terrestrial C sink) is an important way to slow down the continuous increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) concentration and to achieve carbon neutrality target.To better understand the characteristics of terrestrial C sinks and their contribution to carbon neutrality,this review summarizes major progress in terrestrial C budget researches during the past decades,clarifies spatial patterns and drivers of terrestrial C sources and sinks in China and around the world,and examines the role of terrestrial C sinks in achieving carbon neutrality target.According to recent studies,the global terrestrial C sink has been increasing from a source of (-0.2±0.9) Pg C yr^(-1)(1 Pg=1015g)in the 1960s to a sink of (1.9±1.1) Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s.By synthesizing the published data,we estimate terrestrial C sink of 0.20–0.25 Pg C yr^(-1) in China during the past decades,and predict it to be 0.15–0.52 Pg C yr^(-1) by 2060.The terrestrial C sinks are mainly located in the mid-and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere,while tropical regions act as a weak C sink or source.The C balance differs much among ecosystem types:forest is the major C sink;shrubland,wetland and farmland soil act as C sinks;and whether the grassland functions as C sink or source remains unclear.Desert might be a C sink,but the magnitude and the associated mechanisms are still controversial.Elevated atmospheric CO_(2) concentration,nitrogen deposition,climate change,and land cover change are the main drivers of terrestrial C sinks,while other factors such as fires and aerosols would also affect ecosystem C balance.The driving factors of terrestrial C sink differ among regions.Elevated CO_(2) concentration and climate change are major drivers of the C sinks in North America and Europe,while afforestation and ecological restoration are additionally important forcing factors of terrestrial C sinks in China.For future studies,we recommend the necessity for intensive and long-term ecosystem C monitoring over broad geographic scale to improve terrestrial biosphere models for accurately evaluating terrestrial C budget and its dynamics under various climate change and policy scenarios.Yuanhe Yang Yue Shi Wenjuan Sun Jinfeng Chang Jianxiao Zhu Leiyi Chen Xin Wang Yanpei Guo Hongtu Zhang Lingfei Yu Shuqing Zhao Kang Xu Jiangling Zhu Haihua Shen Yuanyuan Wang Yunfeng Peng Xia Zhao Xiangping Wang Huifeng Hu Shiping Chen Mei Huang Xuefa Wen Shaopeng Wang Biao Zhu Shuli Niu Zhiyao Tang Lingli Liu Jingyun Fang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5:32
2Latitudinal pattern and the driving factors of leaf functional traits in 185 shrub species across eastern China显示文摘Aims To explore the pattern of the leaf functional traits of shrub species along a latitudinal gradient in eastern China and determine the driv-ing factors of leaf trait variation at a large scale.Methods We investigated the leaf thickness(LT),leaf area(LA),specific leaf area(SLA)and leaf dry mass content(LDMC)of 185 shrub species from 13 sites across eastern China.The trends of these four-leaf traits were ana-lyzed with respect to latitude,and the differences between different life forms(e.g.,evergreen and deciduous)and habitats(e.g.,understory and typical)were compared.We quantified the effects of the plant life forms and environmental factors on the leaf traits via mixed-model analyses.Important Findings The LT and LA decreased,whilst and the LDMC increased,as the latitude increased,and significant differences in these traits were observed between the different plant life forms.The LT and LA were smaller,whereas the SLA and LDMC were larger in decidu-ous shrubs than in evergreen shrubs.Among the different habitats,the LA and SLA were larger,while the LDMC was smaller in under-story shrubs than in typical shrub species.These results indicate that typical shrub species are better adapted to drier environments,as indicated by a reduced LT and increased LDMC.Furthermore,general linear models showed that variations in the four-leaf traits with respect to latitude were mainly caused by a shift in plant life forms.Yongkai Luo Huifeng Hu Mengying Zhao He Li Shangshi Liu Jingyun Fang 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,1:7
3A DFT Study on the Adsorption Behavior of Sulfur and Nitrogen Compounds on the NiMoS Phase显示文摘The density functional theory(DFT)with dispersion corrections was used to study the adsorption behavior of sulfur and nitrogen compounds on NiMoS phase.The calculations were performed based on a hexagonal cluster model including the Mo-edge,the S-edge,and the rarely mentioned corner site.It was found that the adsorption of quinoline is stronger than that of benzothiophene at all the active sites.It indicated the origin of the inhibition effect of nitrogen compounds on HDS.And Ni atoms located around Mo-edge and corner site exhibit higher adsorption selectivity to sulfur compounds than the nitrogen ones.It means that the increase in Ni-promoting effect may weaken the inhibition effect of nitrogen compounds on HDS.Wang Wei Li Huifeng Han Wei Zhang Le Zhao Xiaoguang Li Mingfeng 2020China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2020,22,1:5
4The protective effects of peptides from Chinese baijiu on AAPH-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells via Nrf2 signaling pathway显示文摘Antioxidant peptides have been widely reported.However,only a few reports have been published examining the antioxidant peptides derived from Chinese baijiu.In this study,6 novel peptides derived from Chinese baijiu were identified successfully using high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupoletime-of-flight mass spectrometry(HPLC-QTOF-MS)with a concentration of 0.835–24.540μg/L.The underlying molecular mechanisms were investigated,and their cytoprotective effects were examined against 2,2’-azobis(2-methylpropanimidamidine)dihydrochloride(AAPH)-induced oxidative stress in Hep G2 cells.The results showed that these peptides exerted protective effects by suppressing reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation,preventing malondialdehyde(MDA)formation,and upregulating cellular antioxidant enzyme activities(SOD,CAT,and GSH-Px)in a dose-dependent manner.Further experiments proved that these peptides exerted antioxidant effects via Nrf2/ARE-mediated signaling pathway by promoting Nrf2 nuclear translocation,inhibiting ubiquitination,and enhancing transcription capacity of Nrf2 in Hep G2 cells.These findings provide the molecular basis for the effects of antioxidant peptides derived from Chinese baijiu,which is important for a deeper understanding of the relationship between human health and moderate drinking.Jiaying Huo Yuezhang Ming Huifeng Li Anjun Li Jiwen Zhao Mingquan Huang Weizheng Sun Jihong Wu Jinglin Zhang 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,6:3
5Species richness and composition of shrub-encroached grasslands in relation to environmental factors in northern China显示文摘Aims Shrub encroachment has taken place in many of China’s northern grasslands.This study attempts to answer the following questions:which plant communities are present in these shrub-encroached grasslands(SEGs)?What are the species richness and composition of these communities?Which environmental factors determine the spatial distribution thereof?Methods We investigated the community characteristics of 255 SEG plots with a size of 20 m×20 m at 69 locations across grasslands in northern China.In each plot,paired 1-m^(2) quadrats were estab-lished within shrub patches and the neighbouring grassy matrix to record herb species composition.The quantitative character-istics(abundance,coverage and height)of herbs were meas-ured in 0.25-m2 subquadrats,and soil samples were collected in the quadrats.Two-way indicator species analysis(TWINSPAN),detrended canonical analysis(DCA)and canonical correspond-ence analysis(CCA)were used for community clustering and ordination.Important Findings The DCA and TWINSPAN results suggested that the SEGs in northern China can be divided into six community types:Potentilla fruticosa+Carex atrofusca,Spiraea hypericifolia+Festuca ovina,Caragana acanthophylla+Stipa sareptana,Caragana microphylla+Leymus chinensis,Caragana microphylla+Stipa klemenzii and Caragana tibetica+Cleistogenes songorica.At a regional scale,climate and soil nutrients controlled the spatial patterns of species richness and community composition of the SEGs in northern China.Temperature exerted a negative impact,whereas precipitation and nutrients had positive effects on species richness.Among the environmental factors used,climate was the major controller of the variations in commu-nity structure.These results provide new insights into the community composition of SEGs in China and enrich the global dataset of SEGs.Luhong Zhou Haihua Shen Leiyi Chen He Li Pujin Zhang Xia Zhao Taoyu Liu Shangshi Liu Aijun Xing Huifeng Hu Jingyun Fang 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,1:3

8Crystallization Kinetics of Lithium Aluminum Germanium Phosphate Glass by DSC Technique显示文摘The crystallization kinetics of Li2O-Al2O3-GeO2-P2O5 (LAGP) glass fabricated via the conventional melt-quenching method was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under non-isothermal condition at different heating rates. The activation energy of glass transition Eg is 634.4 kJ/mol, indicating that LAGP glass is easy to crystallize at an elevated temperature. The activation energy of crystallization Ec and Avrami index n obtained from Matusita's model are 442.01 kJ/mol and 1.7, respectively. The value of n reveals that bulk crystallization predominates slightly over surface crystallization during crystallization process. 9Yield and quality properties of silage maize and their influencing factors in China显示文摘Silage maize(Zea mays L.) is one of the most important forages in the world, and its yield and quality properties are critical parameters for livestock production and assessment of forage values. However, relationships between its yield and quality properties and the controlling factors are not well documented. In this study, we collected 5,663 observations from 196 publications across the country to identify the relationships between yield and quality properties of silage maize and to assess the impact of management practices and climatic factors on its yield and quality in China. The average dry matter yield of silage maize was(19.98±6.93) Mg ha^(-1), and the average value of crude protein, ether extract, crude ash, crude fiber, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber, nitrogen-free extract, and relative feed value was 7.86%±1.71%, 2.53%±1.01%, 5.05%±1.66%,23.97%±6.34%, 27.62%±7.12%, 51.60%±9.85%, 59.68%±7.72%, and 131.17±31.49, respectively. In general, its nutritive value decreased as its yield increased. Increasing planting density could increase the yield but inhibit the nutritive values, while increasing fertilization could benefit the nutritive values. Geographically, the yield increased and the nutritive value decreased from warm(south) to cold(north) regions. The length of growth duration was a major controlling factor for the patterns of these properties. 10Discovery of the mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of migraine based on functional magnetic resonance imaging and omics显示文摘Migraine is one of the most prevalent and disabling neurological disease,but the current pharmacotherapies show limited efficacy and often accompanied by adverse effects.Acupuncture is a promising complementary therapy,but further clinical evidence is needed.The influence of acupuncture on migraine is not an immediate effect,and its mechanism remains unclear.This study aims to provide further clinical evidence for the anti-migraine effects of acupuncture and explore the mechanism involved.A randomized controlled trial was performed among 10 normal controls and 38 migraineurs.The migraineurs were divided into blank control,sham acupuncture,and acupuncture groups.Patients were subjected to two courses of treatment,and each treatment lasted for 5 days,with an interval of 1 day between the two courses.The effectiveness of treatment was evaluated using pain questionnaire.The functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI)data were analyzed for investigating brain changes induced by treatments.Blood plasma was collected for metabolomics and proteomics studies.Correlation and mediation analyses were performed to investigate the interaction between clinical,fMRI and omics changes.Results showed that acupuncture effectively relieved migraine symptoms in a way different from sham acupuncture in terms of curative effect,affected brain regions,and signaling pathways.The anti-migraine mechanism involves a complex network related to the regulation of the response to hypoxic stress,reversal of brain energy imbalance,and regulation of inflammation.The brain regions of migraineurs affected by acupuncture include the lingual gyrus,default mode network,and cerebellum.The effect of acupuncture on patients’metabolites/proteins may precede that of the brain.Chong Li Xinyi Li Ke He Yang Wu Xiaoming Xie Jiju Yang Fan Zhang Yang Yue Huifeng Hao Shaokun Zhao Xin Li Guihua Tian 2023Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,5:1

12Effect of Ga_2O_3 on Structure and Properties of Calcium Aluminate Glasses显示文摘The effect of Ga_2O_3 on the structure and properties of calcium aluminate glasses fabricated by vacuum melting process was investigated by Raman spectrum, differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), and infrared spectrum methods. The results show that calcium aluminate glass network only consists of [AlO_4] tetrahedral units. With the gradual addition of Ga_2O_3, the quantity of [GaO_4] tetrahedral units increases. Substitution of Ga_2O_3 for Al_2O_3 results in a decrease in Tg, Tx, and Tp, and an increase in the thermal stable index ΔT. Similarly, the absorption band around 3.0 μm obviously reduces and the transparency in 4.0-6.0 μm rapidly increases with increasing Ga_2O_3 content. 15DFT Study of H_2 Dissociation on Mo_xS_y Clusters显示文摘A DFT study of H2 dissociation on a series of Mo x S y clusters was performed, including homolytic and heterolytic dissociation. The preference for the two pathways on these models show much difference, as the Mo coordination number increases, the homolytic dissociation becomes easier, whereas the heterolytic dissociation becomes more difficult. Furthermore, frontier orbital theory was used to analyze the dissociation mechanisms of these two pathways.
