1Differences in left and right carotid plaque vulnerability in patients with bilateral carotid plaques:a CARE-II study显示文摘Background and purpose Atherosclerosis is a very complex process influenced by various systemic and local factors.Therefore,in patients with bilateral carotid plaques(BCPs),there may be differences in carotid plaque vulnerability between the sides.We aimed to investigate the differences in BCP characteristics in patients with BCPs using magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging(MR-VWI).Methods Participants with BCPs were selected for subanalysis from a multicentre study of Chinese Atherosclerosis Risk Evaluation II.We measured carotid plaque burden,identified each plaque component and measured their volume or area bilaterally on MR-VWI.Paired comparisons of the burden and components of BCPs were performed.Results In all,540 patients with BCPs were eligible for analysis.Compared with the right carotid artery(CA),larger mean lumen area(p<0.001),larger mean wall area(p=0.025),larger mean total vessel area(p<0.001)and smaller normalised wall index(p=0.006)were found in the left CA.Regarding plaque components,only the prevalence of lipid-rich necrotic core(LRNC)in the left CA was higher(p=0.026).For patients with a vulnerable plaque component coexisting on both sides,only the intraplaque haemorrhage(IPH)volume(p=0.011)was significantly greater in the left CA than in the right CA.Conclusions There were asymmetries in plaque growth and evolution between BCPs.The left carotid plaques were more likely to have larger plaque burden,higher prevalence of LRNC and greater IPH volume,which may contribute to the lateralisation of ischaemic stroke in the cerebral hemispheres.Sai Shao Honglu Shi Guangbin Wang Rui Li Qinjian Sun Bin Yao Hiroko Watase Daniel S Hippe Chun Yuan Xihai Zhao 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,4:1

3S19W,T27W,and N33OY mutations in ACE2 enhance SARS-CoV-2 S-RBD binding toward both wild-type and antibody-resistant viruses and its molecular basis显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 recognizes,via its spike receptor-binding domain(S-RBD),human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)to initiate infection.Ecto-domain protein of ACE2 can therefore function as a decoy.Here we show that mutations of S19W,T27W,and N330Y in ACE2 could individually enhance SARS-CoV-2 S-RBD binding.Y330 could be synergistically combined with either W19 or W27,whereas W19 and W27 are mutually unbeneficial.The structures of SARS-CoV-2S-RBD bound to the ACE2 mutants reveal that the enhan ced binding is mainly con tributed by the van der Waals interactio ns mediated by the aromatic side-chai ns from W19,W27,and Y330.While Y330 and W19/W27 are distantly located and devoid of any steric interference,W19 and W27 are shown to orient their side-chains toward each other and to cause steric conflicts,explai ning their in compatibility.Finally,using pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 viruses,we dem on strate that these residue substitutions are associated with dramatically improved entry-inhibition efficacy toward both wild-type and antibody-resistant viruses.Taken together,our biochemical and structural data have delineated the basis for the elevated S-RBD binding associated with S19W,T27W,and N330Y mutations in ACE2,paving the way for potential application of these mutants in dinical treatment of COVID-19.Fei Ye Xi Lin Zimin Che Fanli Yang Sheng Lin Jing Yang Hua Chen Honglu Sun Lingling Wang Ao Wen Xindan Zhang Yushan Dai Yu Cao Jingyun Yang Guobo Shen Li Yang Jiong Li Zhenling Wang Wei Wang Xiawei Wei Guangwen Lu 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,10:0
4Analysis about the Characteristics and Formation Mechanism of a Serious Pollution Event in Beijing in October 2014显示文摘In this paper,atmospheric environmental background,weather conditions and formation mechanism of one typical air pollution episode in Beijing during October 6^(th)-12^(th),2014 were investigated by combining observed data with numerical model CAMx.Results showed that the occurrence of heavy air pollution resulted mainly from stable atmospheric conditions regionally or locally.Observed heavy pollution episodes were characterized by a stagnant atmospheric structure with average wind speed of 1.56 m/s,high humidity of 83.13%,large inversion strength of 3.42 ℃/100 m which were disadvantageous to the dispersal of air pollutants.The air pollution episode during October 8^(th)-11^(th) was the most serious with daily average PM_(2.5) concentration of 264 μg/m^3 in Beijing,and heavily polluted land area at Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei districts was about 2 × 10~5 km^2.Model research showed that regional transmission contributions to the receptor sites in Beijing were between 61%-69%during 8^(th)-11^(th),and regional transportation played a more important role in this serious air pollution episode.Li Honglu Li Shanshan Zhang Xiaoqin Sun Rongji Cheng Bingfen 2015Meteorological and Environmental Research2015,6,8:0
