1Rapid species identification of pathogenic bacteria from a minute quantity exploiting three-dimensional quantitative phase imaging and artificial neural network显示文摘The healthcare industry is in dire need of rapid microbial identification techniques for treating microbial infections.Microbial infections are a major healthcare issue worldwide,as these widespread diseases often develop into deadly symptoms.While studies have shown that an early appropriate antibiotic treatment significantly reduces the mortality of an infection,this effective treatment is difficult to practice.The main obstacle to early appropriate antibiotic treatments is the long turnaround time of the routine microbial identification,which includes time-consuming sample growth.Here,we propose a microscopy-based framework that identifies the pathogen from single to few cells.Our framework obtains and exploits the morphology of the limited sample by incorporating three-dimensional quantitative phase imaging and an artificial neural network.We demonstrate the identification of 19 bacterial species that cause bloodstream infections,achieving an accuracy of 82.5%from an individual bacterial cell or cluster.This performance,comparable to that of the gold standard mass spectroscopy under a sufficient amount of sample,underpins the effectiveness of our framework in clinical applications.Furthermore,our accuracy increases with multiple measurements,reaching 99.9%with seven different measurements of cells or clusters.We believe that our framework can serve as a beneficial advisory tool for clinicians during the initial treatment of infections.Geon Kim Daewoong Ahn Minhee Kang Jinho Park DongHun Ryu YoungJu Jo Jinyeop Song Jea Sung Ryu Gunho Choi Hyun Jung Chung Kyuseok Kim Doo Ryeon Chung In Young Yoo Hee Jae Huh Hyun-seok Min Nam Yong Lee YongKeun Park 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,7:2
2Sexual function and psychological characteristics ofpenile paraffinoma显示文摘Aim:To identify the sexual, emotional and psychological status of men who augmented their penis with mineral oil injection for their small penis. Methods: Men who had penile paraffin were asked to answer the semi-structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to assess the motivation, method of penile injection, changes in erectile function and satisfaction after penile injection. SCL (Symptom checklist)-90-R, STAI (State and Trait Anxiety Inventory) and Zung SDS (Self-rating depression scale) were also included in the questionnaire for psycho-logical evaluation. Results: A total of 357 men completed the questionnaire. The first-ranked motivation of the injection was recommendation by their acquaintances (48.9 %). The majority of the respondents had the procedure by non-medical person (78.0 %). Before injection, 17.2 % had a sense of inferiority in their penis and 32 % worried about their weak erectile function. After injection, 33.0 % have found relief from their sense of inferiority and 17.8 % wish to feel improvement in their cr^tile function. Most of the respondents (91%) were not satisfied with their penis and 74 % of them replied that they want to remove the injected material. Only 15.6 % did not experience side effects.Most of the subjects have suffered from various side effects such as inflammation, skin necrosis, pain, etc. No evidence of psychiatric pathology was found in psychological evaluation. Conclusion: The motivations of mineral oil injection were recommendation by their acquaintances or desire to be more mannish. Most of them had suffered from various side effects and only a small number of them felt improvement in their sense of inferiority, in their penis and erectile function. Increased public awareness is needed for the prevention of this physically and psychologically debilitating problem. 6Multiple-Object Tracking Using Histogram Stamp Extraction in CCTV Environments显示文摘Object tracking,an important technology in the field of image processing and computer vision,is used to continuously track a specific object or person in an image.This technology may be effective in identifying the same person within one image,but it has limitations in handling multiple images owing to the difficulty in identifying whether the object appearing in other images is the same.When tracking the same object using two or more images,there must be a way to determine that objects existing in different images are the same object.Therefore,this paper attempts to determine the same object present in different images using color information among the unique information of the object.Thus,this study proposes a multiple-object-tracking method using histogram stamp extraction in closed-circuit television applications.The proposed method determines the presence or absence of a target object in an image by comparing the similarity between the image containing the target object and other images.To this end,a unique color value of the target object is extracted based on its color distribution in the image using three methods:mean,mode,and interquartile range.The Top-N accuracy method is used to analyze the accuracy of each method,and the results show that the mean method had an accuracy of 93.5%(Top-2).Furthermore,the positive prediction value experimental results show that the accuracy of the mean method was 65.7%.As a result of the analysis,it is possible to detect and track the same object present in different images using the unique color of the object.Through the results,it is possible to track the same object that can minimize manpower without using personal information when detecting objects in different images.In the last response speed experiment,it was shown that when the mean was used,the color extraction of the object was possible in real time with 0.016954 s.Through this,it is possible to detect and track the same object in real time when using the proposed method.Ye-Yeon Kang Geon Park Hyun Yoo Kyungyong Chung 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,77,12:0
