1Influence of Microstructures and Textures on the Torsional Behavior of Pearlitic Wires显示文摘The microstructure, texture characteristics and torsion ability of two kinds of steel wires were investigated. The eutectoid steel wires were produced by hot and cold drawing with severe deformation. The torsinability of steel wires was measured under two cases, i.e. there exists either fiber texture or circular texture. The results showed that the torsional behavior of the steel wires was affected by their textures and microstructures. The {110}<110> circular texture weakened the torsion ability of the wires. 4EFFECTS OF WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ON THE REDUCTION OF SEDIMENT AND RUNOFF IN THE JIALING RIVER, CHINA显示文摘The Three Gorges Project is one of the largest hydro-projects in the world and has drawn many debates inside China and abroad.The major concern is that sediment load from the river basin may eventually fail the functions of the project for flood control and power generation.To reduce sedimentation in the reservoir,watershed management has been adopted.However,there is limited information regarding the effectiveness of various control measures such as terracing and afforestation on a watershed scale.The Jialing River,a main tributary of the Yangtze River,contributes approximately 25% of the total sediment load in the main river but only represents 8% of the whole basin area.There have been various land use patterns and extensive human activities for thousands of years in the Jialing River watershed.Based on analysis of the major factors affecting erosion in the Jialing River watershed,the main watershed management strategies (afforestation,farming and engineering practice) are illustrated,and their effects on the reduction of sediment and runoff are studied in detail.The sediment budget of the watershed shows that 1/3 of the sediment yield is trapped by the erosion control measures (afforestation and farming) on the slope,1/3 is trapped by the reservoirs,ponds and dams within the watershed,and only about 1/3 is transported into the Yangtze River,which will affect the Three Gorges Project.ShixiongHU ZhaoyinWANG GangWANG XiaoyingLIU 2004International Journal of Sediment Research2004,19,2:1

6Third Generation Horseradish Peroxidase Biosensor Based on Self-assembling Carbon Nanotubes to Gold Electrode Surface显示文摘A third-generation horseradish peroxidase (HRP) biosensor has been developed by adsorbing HRP on multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNTs) monolayer modified gold electrode surface. The assembly process was investigated by electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. Results showed that the immobilized HRP exhibited direct electrochemical behavior toward the reduction of H2O2. The resulting biosensor shows a fast amperometric response (<2 s) to H2O2. The linear response range was from 5.0×10-7~1.0×10-5 mol/L with a detection limit of 1.0×10-7mol/L.
