2Novel insights into the reproductive strategies of wild Chinese sturgeon(Acipenser sinensis)populations based on the kinship analysis显示文摘Understanding the reproductive strategy of an organism is important in conservation ecology as it directly affects the population performance under changing environmental conditions.Chinese sturgeon(Acipenser sinensis)are the largest anadromous fish in the Yangtze River,China.Currently,the species has only one spawning ground and has failed to spawn in recent years,leading it to the brink of extinction.To develop effective conservation measures,a further understanding of its reproductive strategy is needed.In our study,we conducted kinship analyses by using mitochondrial and microsatellite DNA data from 216 wild juveniles collected over nine years(20062013,2015)to understand the mating system,breeding interval,effective number of breeding adults,and reproductive success.The results from these analyses suggested polygynandry,with some parents contributing up to eight half-sibling juvenile genotypes.Although the spawning ground was restricted to a limited area,genetic diversity was maintained at a relatively high level(observed heterozygosity from 0.698 to 0.787 and expected heterozygosity from 0.763 to 0.787)and inbreeding coefficients in each year-class ranged from1% to 9%(low to modest detrimental effects on offspring).A parental inference analysis revealed that Chinese sturgeon have a breeding interval of 2-6 years,indicating that it has the potential to feed,accumulate nutrition in the ocean,and then migrate back to the Yangtze River for iteroparous reproduction.The annual effective number of breeders in the Yangtze River ranged from 14 to 161 during the study period,and it decreased by 62.1%from the 20112014 year-classes.This sharp population decline likely contributes to the reproduction failure.However,the ratios of effective to census population size(Ne/Nc)were all larger than 0.20 after the 2010 year-class,indicating relatively even reproductive success.Based on these results,a suggested approach to protect this species is to restock parent fish to increase the reproductive stock size and optimize the discharge of the Three Gorges Dam to reduce the unsuitable hydrological conditions and rehabilitate spawning ground habitats.Dan Yu Xin Gao Zhongyuan Shen Masami Fujiwara Ping Yang Tao Chang Futie Zhang Xinghua Wu Zhonghua Duan Huanzhang Liu 2023Water Biology and Security2023,2,2:1

7Effect of Fermented Feed on Intestinal Microbial Community Diversity of Chicks显示文摘[Objective]The paper was to study the effects of fermented feed on structure and diversity of intestinal flora in the duodenum,jejunum,ileum and cecum of chicks,and to clarify the mechanism of fermented feed on growth and health of chicks.[Method]The 3601-day-old Hyline brown egg chicks were randomly divided into three treatment groups,six replicates each group,and were fed with basal diet,basal diet+antibiotics and basal diet+fermented feed,respectively.The structure and distribution of intestinal microbial community of egg chicks in each group were determined by Illumina MiSeq sequencing technology.[Result]The Chaol index and Shannon index indicated that the abundance and diversity of microorganisms in unfermented feed group were significantly higher than those in fermented feed group,and the abundance and diversity of flora in the duodenum,jejunum and ileum of each group were significantly higher than those in the cecum.[Conclusion]Feeding fermented feed significantly increases the abundance of Lactobacillus and reduces the number of pathogenic bacteria such as DSV and Bacieroides in the intestinal tract,which also indirectly proves that Lactobacillus inhibits the proliferation of DSV and prevents intestinal diseases.Feeding fermented feed increases the abundance of Firmicutes,significantly decreases the proportion of Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes,and promotes the growth of chicks.Li Jie Bi Futi Lai Gensheng Zhang Mengyang Wang Depei 2020Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2020,12,3:0
8Screening and identification of soybean varieties with high phosphorus efficiency at seedling stage显示文摘In order to simplify the workload and find a reliable method for screening soybeans with different phosphorus(P)efficiencies,47 soybean varieties were screened from 90 varieties according to yield under normal phosphorus,and 10 indicators including root phenotype,phosphorus utilization efficiency at the seedling stage and yield were measured.Through single-index cluster analysis,the performance value and relative value of the abovementioned indexes under low-phosphorus conditions were analyzed,and then,the combined indexes were analyzed by principal components method.The membership function method and the cluster analysis method was used to calculate and analyze the comprehensive score value.Three indexes of root P utilization efficiency(X_(1)),relative value of root P utilization efficiency(X_(2)),and root volume(X_(3))under low P at the seedling stage were selected as the most consistent with the yield screening results under low P condition,and the mathematical model of the comprehensive score value was obtained:D=1.218X_(1)t 0.320X_(2)t 0.007X_(3)-0.664(P=0.000,R^(2)=1.000).The comprehensive score can screen and identify the P efficiency of soybeans with fewer indexes in the early growth stages,which provides a more rapid and reliable mathematical model for screening and identifying a larger number of germplasm resources for P efficiency.Hui Wang Ahui Yang Guang Yang Hongyu Zhao Futi Xie Huijun Zhang Haiying Wang Xue Ao 2021Oil Crop Science2021,6,1:0
9High genetic diversity in population of Lepturichthys fimbriata from the Yangtze River revealed by microsatellite DNA analysis显示文摘Lepturichthys fimbriata (Günther) is one of the benthic and rock-attached fish species that is typically found in torrential flows of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Several dams in the Yangtze River (the Ertan Dam, the Three Gorges Dam, the Gezhouba Dam, the Xiluodu Dam and the Xiangjiaba Dam (the latter two dams are under construction)) may have significant effects on the habitat and spawning behaviors of L. fimbriata, and could ultimately threaten the survival of this fish. We studied the population genetic diversity of L. fimbriata samples collected at three sites within the Yangtze River and one of its tributaries, the Yalong River. Genetic diversity patterns were determined by analyzing genetic data from 14 polymorphic microsatellite loci isolated in Jinshaia sinensis (Sauvage et Dabry). A high genetic diversity among these L. fimbriata local populations was indicat- ed by the number of microsatellite alleles (A) and the expected heterozygosity. No reductions of genetic diversity in any L. fimbriata population were observed. However, significant population differentiations were observed among three local populations by pairwise comparisons (P<0.001). We deduced that L. fimbriata local populations were not small ones.
