1Melatonin alleviates intervertebral disc degeneration by disrupting the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome positive feedback loop显示文摘The inflammatory response is induced by the overexpression of inflammatory cytokines, mainly interleukin(IL)-1β, and is one of the main causes of intervertebral disc degeneration(IVDD). NLR pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3) inflammasome activation is an important source of IL-1β. As an anti-inflammatory neuroendocrine hormone, melatonin plays various roles in different pathophysiological conditions. However, its roles in IVDD are still not well understood and require more examination. First, we demonstrated that melatonin delayed the progression of IVDD and relieved IVDD-related low back pain in a rat needle puncture IVDD model;moreover, NLRP3 inflammasome activation(NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels) was significantly upregulated in severely degenerated human discs and a rat IVDD model. Subsequently, an IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop was found in nucleus pulposus(NP) cells that were treated with IL-1β. In these cells, expression of NLRP3 and p20 was significantly increased, NF-κB signaling was involved in this regulation, and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)production increased. Furthermore, we found that melatonin disrupted the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop in vitro and in vivo. Melatonin treatment decreased NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels by inhibiting NF-κB signaling and downregulating mt ROS production. Finally, we showed that melatonin mediated the disruption of the positive feedback loop of IL-1β in vivo. In this study, we showed for the first time that IL-1β promotes its own expression by upregulating NLRP3 inflammasome activation. 2Coupling mechanism of roof and supporting wall in gob-side entry retaining in fully-mechanized mining with gangue backfilling显示文摘We analyzed the deformation characteristics of overlying stratum in backfilling with fully-mechanized and retaining roadways along the gob area coal mining technology, and established a mechanical model for the roof key stratum of retaining roadways along gob under the conditions of backfilling and fully- mechanized coal mining technology. Using Winkler elastic foundation theory, we analyzed a part of the key stratum under the action of elastic foundation coupling problem, and derived deflection analyt- ical expressions. Combined with specific conditions, we obtained the deflection curves for the roof key stratum of retaining roadways along gob under the conditions of backfilling and fully-mechanized coal mining technology. 3A novel method for evaluating the dynamic biocompatibility of degradable biomaterials based on real-time cell analysis显示文摘Degradable biomaterials have emerged as a promising type of medical materials because of their unique advantages of biocompatibility,biodegradability and biosafety.Owing to their bioabsorbable and biocompatible properties,magnesium-based biomaterials are considered as ideal degradable medical implants.However,the rapid corrosion of magnesium-based materials not only limits their clinical application but also necessitates a more specific biological evaluation system and biosafety standard.In this study,extracts of pure Mg and its calcium alloy were prepared using different media based on ISO 10993:12;the Mg^2+ concentration and osmolality of each extract were measured.The biocompatibility was investigated using the MTT assay and xCELLigence real-time cell analysis(RTCA).Cytotoxicity tests were conducted with L929,MG-63 and human umbilical vein endothelial cell lines.The results of the RTCA highly matched with those of the MTT assay and revealed the different dynamic modes of the cytotoxic process,which are related to the differences in the tested cell lines,Mg-based materials and dilution rates of extracts.This study provides an insight on the biocompatibility of biodegradable materials from the perspective of cytotoxic dynamics and suggests the applicability of RTCA for the cytotoxic evaluation of degradable biomaterials.Xiaoxiao Gai Chenghu Liu Guowei Wang Yang Qin Chunguang Fan Jia Liu Yanping Shi 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,3:3
4Simulation of viscoelastic behavior of defected rock by using numerical manifold method显示文摘Numerical simulations of longitudinal wave propagation in a rock bar with microcracks are conducted by using the numerical manifold method which has great advantages in the simulation of discontinuities.Firstly,validation of the numerical manifold method is carried out by simulations of a longitudinal stress wave propagating through intact and cracked rock bars.The behavior of the stress wave traveling in a one-dimensional rock bar with randomly distributed microcracks is subsequently studied.It is revealed that the highly defected rock bar has significant viscoelasticity to the stress wave propagation.Wave attenuation as well as time delay is affected by the length,quantity,specific stiffness of the distributed microcracks as well as the incident stress wave frequency.The storage and loss moduli of the defected rock are also affected by the microcrack properties;however,they are independent of incident stress wave frequency.Feng REN Lifeng FAN Guowei MA 2011Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2011,5,2:3

8Impact of Wind Integration on Transient Voltage Stability in Regional Grid显示文摘With the increasing development of wind power,the scale of wind farms and unit capacity of wind turbines are getting larger and larger,and the impact of wind integration on power systems cannot be ignored.However,in most cases,the areas with a plenty of wind resources do not have strong grid structures.Furthermore,the characteristics of wind power dictate that wind turbines need to absorb reactive power during operation.Because of the strong correlation between voltage stability and systems' reactive power,the impacts of wind integration on voltage stability has become an important issue.Based on the power system simulation software DIgSILENT and combined analysis of actual practice,this paper investigates the impacts of two types of wind farms on voltage stability:namely a type of wind farms which are constituted by constant speed wind turbines based on common induction generators(IG) and another type of wind farms which are constituted by VSCF wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generators(DFIG).Through investigation the critical fault clearing time is presented for different outputs of wind farms.Moreover,the impacts of static var compensator(SVC) and static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) on transient voltage stability in IG-based wind farms are studied to improve the security and stability of the Jiangsu power grid after the integration of large scale wind power.Zhang Feng Li Mingxia Fan Guowei Luo Zhongyou Chang Xiqiang 2012Electricity2012,23,2:1
9Damage Evolution and Crack Propagation in Semicircular Bending Asphalt Mixture Specimens显示文摘The damage and fracture behaviors of semicircular bending(SCB) asphalt mixture specimens with different orientation notches are experimentally and numerically investigated. In the numerical simulations, asphalt mixture is modeled as a two-phase material, namely a mix of coarse aggregates and asphalt mastic, and the mechanical behavior of asphalt mastic is characterized with the damage constitutive model and the damage-based fracture criterion. Some SCB experiments are performed on the asphalt mixture specimens with different orientation notches to validate the numerical method. 10Enhanced chemical trapping and catalytic conversion of polysulfides by diatomite/MXene hybrid interlayer for stable Li-S batteries显示文摘Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) batteries with high theoretical energy density are promising energy storage systems in the next decades, while the lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) shuttling caused by the sluggish sulfur redox reaction severely lowers the practical performance. The use of interlayer between the cathode and separator has been widely investigated to physically or chemically block the LiPSs, while the introduction of catalytic materials is a more effective strategy to accelerate the conversion of LiPSs. MXene with rich surface chemistry has shown its potential for facilitating the catalytic conversion, however, the aggregation of MXene sheets usually leads to the loss of the catalytic active sites. Herein, we report a diatomite/MXene (DE/MX) hybrid material as the bifunctional interlayer for improving the adsorption/conversion of LiPSs in Li-S batteries. The diatomite with porous structure and rich silica-hydroxyl functional groups could trap LiPSs effectively, while prevent the aggregation of MXene. The DE/MX based interlayer showed bifunctions of enhancing the chemical adsorption and promoting the conversion of LiPSs. The Li-S batteries with the DE/MX interlayer delivered an improved cycling stability with a low capacity decay of 0.059% per cycle over 1000 cycles at 1.0 C. Moreover, stable 200 cycles can be realized with a high sulfur loading electrode up to 6.0 mg cm^(−2). 11A PRIVACY-PRESERVING AUTHENTICATION SCHEME USING BIOMETRICS FOR PERVASIVE COMPUTING ENVIRONMENTS显示文摘In pervasive computing environments,users can get services anytime and anywhere,but the ubiquity and mobility of the environments bring new security challenges.The user and the service provider do not know each other in advance,they should mutually authenticate each other.The service provider prefers to authenticate the user based on his identity while the user tends to stay anonymous.Privacy and security are two important but seemingly contradictory objectives.As a result,a user prefers not to expose any sensitive information to the service provider such as his physical location,ID and so on when being authenticated.In this paper,a highly flexible mutual authentication and key establishment protocol scheme based on biometric encryption and Diffie-Hellman key exchange to secure interactions between a user and a service provider is proposed.Not only can a user's anonymous authentication be achieved,but also the public key cryptography operations can be reduced by adopting this scheme.Different access control policies for different services are enabled by using biometric encryption technique.The correctness of the proposed authentication and key establishment protocol is formally verified based on SVO logic.Yao Lin Kong Xiangwei Wu Guowei Fan Qingna Lin Chi 2010Journal of Electronics(China)2010,27,1:1

13State feedback stabilization of discrete linear switching systems subject to nonsymmetrical state and control bounds显示文摘Stabilization problem of discrete-time linear switching systems with bounds on the state and control input is solved in this paper. First, the synthesis of state feedback controllers that ensure the stability of closed-loop switching systems is studied under a sufficient condition. By using the idea of positive invariance, a stabilizing controller design methodology is proposed. Based on these results, the convergence rate problem is also discussed. A state feedback controller that guarantees the optimal convergence rate of closed-loop switching systems is obtained via optimization. 14Modeling of contact temperatures and their influence on the tribological performance of PEEK and PTFE in a dual-pin-ondisk tribometer显示文摘The direct blending of polyether ether ketone(PEEK)with a solid lubricant such as polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)improves its tribological performance,but compromises its outstanding mechanical properties and processability.While these negative effects might be circumvented via the hybrid wear method,the influence of the contact temperature between multiple sliding components acting together is not fully understood.Herein,an analytical temperature model considering the influence of both micro-and macro-thermal behavior is extended to predict the contact temperature of a dual-pin-on-disk hybrid wear system.The interactions between several heat sources are investigated and experimentally verified.The analytical results show that the nominal temperature rise of the shared wear track is determined by the combined effect of the heat generated by both pin components,while the rise in flash temperature at the region in contact with each pin component is dependent upon its individual characteristics and working conditions.Hence,while different temperature peaks can coexist in the shared wear track,the maximum value dominates the performance of the system.For the experimentally investigated PEEK–PTFE–steel hybrid wear system,the formation of tribofilms is blocked,and the hybrid wear system fails,when the peak temperature exceeds the glass transition temperature of both pins due to an increase in applied load.Zhibin LIN Ting QU Ke ZHANG Qingbin ZHANG Shengdao WANG Guibin WANG Bingzhao GAO Guowei FAN 2023Friction2023,11,4:0
15Balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration for treatment of congenital intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunt:A case report显示文摘Congenital intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunt(CPSVS), a rare vascular malformation, has been described in both children and adults and can lead to severe neurophysiological complications. However, a standard therapeutic protocol for CPSVS has not been elucidated. With the advantage of minimally invasive techniques,transcatheter embolization has been used to treat CPSVS. The condition is challenging to manage, especially in patients with large or multiple shunts, through which rapid blood flow can cause ectopic embolism. 16Enhancement of a recombinase-aided amplification assay using betaine and pullulan显示文摘Background:Nucleic acid amplification enhancers suitable for use in a recombinase-aided amplification(RAA)assay were studied for the first time,and amplification of a long-fragment(509 bp)was initially explored.Methods:Using recombinant plasmids and clinical samples,RAA fluorescence and basic methods were used to evaluate the efficacy.The fluorescence method was evaluated by threshold time and fluorescence value,and the basic method was characterized by 2%agarose gel electrophoresis.Results:Taking a previously established RAA assay for HPV18 as an example,we demonstrated that the addition of 0.2 M,0.4 M,and 0.6 M betaine and 10%pullulan could enhance the RAA.The new RAA assays with betaine and pullulan were named B-RAA and P-RAA,respectively.Using the B-RAA and P-RAA fluorescence methods,the threshold time values could be shortened by 1.72-2.32 minutes and 2.60 minutes,respectively,and the fluorescence values could be enhanced by 8847.25-9094.37 mv and 5250 mv,respectively.Using the basic method,the sensitivity could be increased 10-fold.We successfully amplified a long-fragment of 509 bp using a P-RAA assay with a sensitivity of 102 copies/μL(compared with 103 copies/μL in the RAA assay).Conclusions:Thus,we concluded that betaine and pullulan are effective additives to enhance the sensitivity of RAA assays.Jinrong Wang Guowei Song Yue Ming Jing Pan Ruiqing Zhang Guohao Fan Xinxin Shen Xuejun Ma Lixin Li 2022Infectious Medicine2022,1,2:0
