1Copper solvent extraction from alkaline cyanide solution with guanidine extractant LIX 7950显示文摘The use of the guanidine extractant LIX 7950 extracting copper and cyanide from alkaline cyanide solution was investigated.The extraction of copper and cyanide under different initial copper and extractant concentrations was examined and the stoichiometric extraction constant of Cu(CN)32- with LIX 7950 was calculated.Both the distribution coefficient and the stoichiometric extraction constant of Cu(CN)3 2-with LIX 7950 decrease when the temperature is varied from 25℃to 45℃, indicating the extraction process is exothermic.The calculated enthalpy change of the reaction(-HΘ)is about-190 kJ/mol.The copper extraction isotherms under different molar ratios of cyanide to copper are established.The preferential extraction of Cu(CN)32- over Cu(CN)4 3-and CN -has been confirmed and a high cyanide-to-copper molar ratio tends to suppress copper loading. The loaded copper and cyanide can be stripped efficiently by the moderately strong NaOH solutions(0.5-1.0 mol/L)and the presence of NaCN in the stripping solution facilitates copper stripping.F.XIE D.B.DREISINGER 2010Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2010,20,6:6
2Using loose nanofiltration membrane for lake water treatment:A pilot study显示文摘Nanofiltration(NF)using loose membranes has a high application potential for advanced treatment of drinking water by selectively removing contaminants from the water,while membrane fouling remains one of the biggest problems of the process.This paper reported a seven-month pilot study of using a loose NF membrane to treat a sand filtration effluent which had a relatively high turbidity(∼0.4 NTU)and high concentrations of organic matter(up to 5 mg/L as TOC),hardness and sulfate.Results showed that the membrane demonstrated a high rejection of TOC(by<90%)and a moderately high rejection of two pesticides(54%–82%)while a moderate rejection of both calcium and magnesium(∼45%)and a low rejection of total dissolved solids(∼27%).The membrane elements suffered from severe membrane fouling,with the membrane permeance decreased by 70%after 85 days operation.The membrane fouling was dominated by organic fouling,while biological fouling was moderate.Inorganic fouling was mainly caused by deposition of aluminum-bearing substances.Though inorganic foulants were minor contents on membrane,their contribution to overall membrane fouling was substantial.Membrane fouling was not uniform on membrane.While contents of organic and inorganic foulants were the highest at the inlet and outlet region,respectively,the severity of membrane fouling increased from the inlet to the outlet region of membrane element with a difference higher than 30%.While alkaline cleaning was not effective in removing the membrane foulants,the use of ethylenediamine tetraacetate(EDTA)at alkaline conditions could effectively restore the membrane permeance.Danyang Liu Johny Cabrera Lijuan Zhong Wenjing Wang Dingyuan Duan Xiaomao Wang Shuming Liu Yuefeng F.Xie 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,4:3
3Evaluate HAA removal in biologically active carbon filters using the ICR database显示文摘The effects of biologically active carbon(BAC)filtration on haloacetic acid(HAA)levels in plant effluents and distribution systems were investigated using the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Information Collection Rule(ICR)database.The results showed that average HAA5 concentrations in all locations were 20.4μg·L^(-1)and 29.6μg·L^(-1)in ICR plants with granular activated carbon(GAC)and ICR plants without GAC process,respectively.For plants without GAC,the highest HAA levels were observed in the quarters of April to June and July to September.However,for plants with GAC,the highest HAA levels were observed in the quarters of April to June and January to March.This HAA level profile inversely correlated well with water temperature,or biologic activity.For GAC plants,simulated distribution samples matched well with distribution system equivalent samples for Cl3AA and THMs.For plants with and without GAC,simulated distribution samples overestimated readily biodegradable HAAs in distribution systems.The study indicated that through HAA biodegradation,GAC process plays an important role in lowering HAA levels in finished drinking water.Hsin-hsin TUNG Yuefeng F.XIE 2011Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,4:2
