1Genome-wide Dissection of Co-selected UV-B Responsive Pathways in the UV-B Adaptation of Qingke显示文摘Qingke (Tibetan hulless barley) has long been cultivated and exposed to long-term and strong UV-B radiation on the Tibetan Plateau, which renders it an ideal species for elucidating novel UV-B responsive mechanisms in plants. Here we report a comprehensive metabolite profiling and metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS) using 196 diverse qingke and barley accessions. Our results demonstrated both constitutive and induced accumulation, and common genetic regulation, of metabolites from different branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway that are involved in UV-B protection. A total of 90 significant mGWAS loci for these metabolites were identified in barley-qingke differentiation regions, and a number of high-level metabolite trait alleles were found to be significantly enriched in qingke, suggesting co-selection of various phenylpropanoids. Upon dissecting the entire phenylpropanoid pathway, we identified some key determinants controlling natural variation of phenylpropanoid content, including three novel proteins, a flavone C-pentosyltransferase, a tyramine hydroxycinnamoyl acyltransferase, and a MYB transcription factor. 2Magnetoelectricity in multiferroics: a theoretical perspective显示文摘The key physical property of multiferroic materials is the existence of coupling between magnetism and polarization,i.e.magnetoelectricity.The origin and manifestations of magnetoelectricity can be very different in the available plethora of multiferroic systems,with multiple possible mechanisms hidden behind the phenomena.In this review,we describe the fundamental physics that causes magnetoelectricity from a theoretical viewpoint.The present review will focus on mainstream physical mechanisms in both single-phase multiferroics and magnetoelectric heterostructures.The most recent tendencies addressing possible new magnetoelectric mechanisms will also be briefly outlined.Shuai Dong Hongjun Xiang Elbio Dagotto 2019National Science Review2019,6,4:8
3Novel SNPs in IL-17F and IL-17A genes associated with somatic cell count in Chinese Holstein and Inner-Mongolia Sanhe cattle显示文摘Background: Bovine mastitis is the most common and costly disease of lactating cattle worldwide. Apart from milk somatic cell count(SCC) and somatic cell score(SCS), serum cytokines such as interleukin-17(IL-17) and interleukin-4(IL-4) may also be potential indicators for bovine mastitis. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in bovine IL-17 F and IL-17 A genes on SCC, SCS and serum cytokines in Chinese Holstein and Inner-Mongolia Sanhe cattle, and to compare the m RNA expression variations of the cows with different genotypes.Results: A total of 464 lactating cows(337 Holstein and 127 Inner-Mongolia Sanhe cattle) were screened for SNPs identification and the data were analyzed using fixed effects of herd, parity, season and year of calving by general linear model procedure. The results revealed that SNP g.24392436 C > T in IL-17 F and SNP g.24345410 A > G in IL-17 A showed significant effects on SCC and IL-4 in Holstein(n = 337) and on IL-17 and IL-4 in Sanhe cattle(n = 127). 4Developing controllable hypermutable Clostridium cells through manipulating its methyl-directed mismatch repair system显示文摘Development of controllable hypermutable cells can greatly benefit understanding and harnessing microbial evolution.However,there have not been any similar sys-tems developed for Clostridium,an important bacterial genus.Here we report a novel two-step strategy for de-veloping controllable hypermutable cells of Clostridium acetobutylicum,an important and representative indus-trial strain.Firstly,the mutS/L operon essential for methyl-directed mismatch repair(MMR)activity was inactivated from the genome of C.acetobutylicum to generate hy-permutable cells with over 250-fold increased mutation rates.Secondly,a proofreading control system carrying an inducibly expressed mutS/L operon was constructed.The hypermutable cells and the proofreading control system were integrated to form a controllable hypermut-able system SMBMutC,of which the mutation rates can be regulated by the concentration of anhydrotetracycline(aTc).Duplication of the miniPthl-tetR module of the proof-reading control system further signifi cantly expanded the regulatory space of the mutation rates,demonstrating hypermutable Clostridium cells with controllable mutation rates are generated.The developed C.acetobutylicum strain SMBMutC2 showed higher survival capacities than the control strain facing butanol-stress,indicating greatly increased evolvability and adaptability of the controllable hypermutable cells under environmental challenges.Guodong Luan Zhen Cai Fuyu Gong Hongjun Dong Zhao Lin Yanping Zhang Yin Li 2013Protein & Cell2013,4,11:4

6Controlling Effects of Tight Reservoir Micropore Structures on Seepage Ability: A Case Study of the Upper Paleozoic of the Eastern Ordos Basin, China显示文摘In this study, the types of micropores in a reservoir are analyzed using casting thin section(CTS) observation and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) experiments. The high-pressure mercury injection(HPMI) and constant-rate mercury injection(CRMI) experiments are performed to study the micropore structure of the reservoir. Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), gas-water relative seepage, and gas-water two-phase displacement studies are performed to examine the seepage ability and parameters of the reservoir, and further analyses are done to confirm the controlling effects of reservoir micropore structures on seepage ability. The experimental results show that Benxi, Taiyuan, Shanxi, and Shihezi formations in the study area are typical ultra-low porosity and ultra-low permeability reservoirs. Owing to compaction and later diagenetic transformation, they contain few primary pores. Secondary pores are the main pore types of reservoirs in the study area. Six main types of secondary pores are: intergranular dissolved pores, intragranular dissolved pores, lithic dissolved pores, intercrystalline dissolved pores, micropores, and microfracture. The results show that reservoirs with small pore-throat radius, medium displacement pressure, and large differences in pore-throat structures are present in the study area. The four types of micropore structures observed are: lower displacement pressure and fine pores with medium-fine throats, low displacement pressure and fine micropores with fine throats, medium displacement pressure and micropores with micro-fine throats, and high displacement pressure and micropores with micro throats. The micropore structure is complex, and the reservoir seepage ability is poor in the study areas. The movable fluid saturation, range of the gas-water two-phase seepage zone, and displacement types are the three parameters that well represent the reservoir seepage ability. According to the characteristic parameters of microscopic pore structure and seepage characteristics, the reservoirs in the study area are classified into four types(Ⅰ–Ⅳ), and types Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ are the main types observed. 7Identifying accident black spots based on the accident spacing distribution显示文摘The identification of accident black spots is of great significance for the prevention of traffic accidents.Commonly used accident black spot identification methods divide road sections for the analysis of accident data,the direct result of which is the splitting of accident black spots,which affects the results.This paper is based on three years of traffic accident data from the Beijing-Harbin Expressway,including the time and location of traffic accidents,form of the accident fatalities,severe injuries,slight injuries,and property damage only(PDO).To avoid road division effects,an identification method based on the accident spacing distribution is established by using quality control theory.The results show that the average number of accidents per kilometer by the method proposed in this paper is 42,which is much higher than 10,identified by other identification methods.The method proposed in this paper improves the accuracy of the identification results.This method avoids the problem of road segmentation found in other common methods and can more accurately reflect the spatial distribution of traffic accidents.Thus making the identification of accidents more scientific and accurate.Hongjun Cui Jianguo Dong Minqing Zhu Xia Li Qingzhou Wang 2022Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2022,9,6:2

10Recent research progress of bimetallic phosphides-based nanomaterials as cocatalyst for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution显示文摘Hydrogen energy(H_(2)) has been considered as the most possible consummate candidates for replacing the traditional fossil fuels because of its higher combustion heat value and lower environmental pollution.Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE) from water splitting based on semiconductors is a promising technology towards converting solar energy into sustainable H_(2)fuel evolution. Developing high-activity and abundant source semiconductor materials is particularly important to realize highly efficient hydrogen evolution as for photocatalysis technology. However, unmodified pristine photocatalysts are often unable to overcome the weakness of low performance due to their limitations. In recent years, transition metal phosphides(TMPs) were used as valid co-catalysts to replace the classic precious metal materials in the process of photocatalytic reaction owing to their lower cost and higher combustion heat value.What is more, bimetallic phosphides have been also caused widespread concern in H_(2)evolution reaction owing to its much lower overpotential, more superior conductivity, and weaker charge carriers transfer impedance in comparison to those of single metal phosphides. In this minireview, we concluded the latest developments of bimetallic phosphides for a series of photocatalytic reactions. Firstly, we briefly summarize the present loading methods of bimetallic phosphides(BMPs) anchored on the photocatalyst. After that, the H;evolution efficiency based on BMPs as cocatalyst is also studied in detail. Besides, the application of BMPs-based host photocatalyst for H_(2)evolution under dye sensitization effect has also been discussed. At last, the current development prospects and prospective challenges in many ways of BMPs are proposed. 11CT radiomics can help screen the coronavirus disease2019(COVID-19): a preliminary study显示文摘The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is raging across the world.The radiomics,which explores huge amounts of features from medical image for disease diagnosis,may help the screen of the COVID-19.In this study,we aim to develop a radiomic signature to screen COVID-19 from CT images.We retrospectively collect 75 pneumonia patients from Beijing Youan Hospital,including 46 patients with COVID-19 and 29 other types of pneumonias.These patients are divided into training set(n = 50) and test set(n = 25) at random.We segment the lung lesions from the CT images,and extract 77 radiomic features from the lesions.Then unsupervised consensus clustering and multiple cross-validation are utilized to select the key features that are associated with the COVID-19.In the experiments,while twenty-three radiomic features are found to be highly associated with COVID-19,four key features are screened and used as the inputs of support vector machine to build the radiomic signature.We use area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) and calibration curve to assess the performance of our model.It yields AUCs of 0.862 and 0.826 in the training set and the test set respectively.We also perform the stratified analysis and find that its predictive ability is not affected by gender,age,chronic disease and degree of severity.In conclusion,we investigate the value of radiomics in screening COVID-19,and the experimental results suggest the radiomic signature could be a potential tool for diagnosis of COVID-19.Mengjie FANG Bingxi HE Li LI Di DONG Xin YANG Cong LI Lingwei MENG Lianzhen ZHONG Hailin LI Hongjun LI Jie TIAN 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,7:2

17Microbial residues as the nexus transforming inorganic carbon to organic carbon in coastal saline soils显示文摘Soil inorganic carbon(SIC),including mainly carbonate,is a key component of terrestrial soil C pool.Autotrophic microorganisms can assimilate carbonate as the main or unique C source,how microorganisms convert SIC to soil organic carbon(SOC)remains unclear.A systematic field survey(n=94)was performed to evaluate the shift in soil C components(i.e.,SIC,SOC,and microbial residues)along a natural salinity gradient(ranging from 0.5‰to 19‰),and further to explore how microbial necromass as an indicator converting SIC into SOC in the Yellow River delta.We observed that SIC levels linearly decreased with increasing salinity,ranging from~12 g kg^(-1)(salinity<6‰)to~10 g kg^(-1)(salinity>6‰).Additionally,the concentrations of SOC and microbial residues exponentially decreased from salinity<6‰ to salinity>6‰,with the decline of 39%and 70%,respectively.Microbial residues and SOC was tightly related to the variations in SIC.The structural equation model showed the causality on explanation of SOC variations with SIC through microbial residues,which can contribute 89% of the variance in SOC storage combined with SIC.Taken together,these two statistical analyses can support that microbial residues can serve as an indicator of SIC transition to SOC.This study highlights the regulation of microbial residues in SIC cycling,enhancing the role of SIC playing in C biogeochemical cycles and enriching organic C reservoirs in coastal saline soils.Pengshuai Shao Tian Li Kaikai Dong Hongjun Yang Jingkuan Sun 2022Soil Ecology Letters2022,4,4:1
18Analysis on the relationship between winter precipitation and the annual variation of horse stomach fly community in arid desert steppe, Northwest China (2007–2019)显示文摘Gasterophilus spp.have been found to be widespread in reintroduced Przewalski’s horses in the Kalamaili Nature Reserve(Northwest China).However,data on the annual variation in Gasterophilus infections are lacking.To analyze the epidemiological features and determine the cause of the annual variation in Gasterophilus infections,we treated 110 Przewalski’s horses with ivermectin and collected Gasterophilus larvae from fecal samples each winter from 2007 to 2019.All 110 Przewalski’s horses studied were found to be infected by Gasterophilus spp.,and a total of 141379 larvae were collected.Six species of Gasterophilus were identified with the following prevalence:G.pecorum(100%),G.nasalis(96.36%),G.nigricornis(94.55%),G.haemorrhoidalis(56.36%),G.intestinalis(59.09%),and G.inermis(3.64%).The mean infection intensity of Gasterophilus spp.larvae in Przewalski’s horses was 1285±653.G.pecorum(92.96%±6.71%)was the most abundant species.The intensity of Gasterophilus spp.(r=–0.561,P<0.046)was significantly correlated with winter precipitation.Our findings confirmed that,in the Kalamaili Nature Reserve,gasterophilosis is a severe parasitic disease in Przewalski’s horses.Winter precipitation at the beginning of the year can indirectly affect the intensity and composition of Gasterophilus spp.in Przewalski’s horses at the end of the year.Therefore,the water-related ecological regulation should be carried out to help reduce the parasite infection of Przewalski’s horses.Heqing HUANG Ke ZHANG Boru ZHANG Shanhui LIU Hongjun CHU Yingjie QI Dong ZHANG Kai LI 2022Integrative Zoology2022,17,1:1
