Retinal structural-vascular-functional relationship using optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography -angiography in myopia显示文摘Background:To examine the retinal structure–vascular-function relationship using optical coherence tomography(OCT)and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)in myopia. Methods:This was a prospective cross-sectional study comprising 86 eyes of 45 individuals with varying axial lengths and spherical equivalents and no posterior segment abnormalities. All eyes underwent optical coherence tomography with the Spectralis SD-OCT and OCTA with RTVue-XR Avanti;Optovue.Individual macular retinal layer thicknesses and flow areas and vessel densities were measured on OCT and OCTA,respectively.Linear correlations were made between the macular layer thicknesses, flow areas and vessel densities with axial length, spherical equivalent and visual acuity. Results:The participants’mean ages were 33.34±14.45 years, mean spherical equivalent refractions were−7.17±5.71 D and axial lengths were 25.95±2.41 mm.There were significant positive correlations of foveal angle(r=0.757,p=0.001),inner retinal(r=0.764,p=0.001)and outer plexiform layer(r=0.771,p=0.001)thickness on OCT and vessel densities in deep capillary plexus(r=0.313,p=0.003)on OCTA with axial length and negative correlations with spherical equivalents and visual acuity.Significant negative correlations of outer nuclear layer(r=−0.560,p=0.03)and photoreceptor outer segment layer thickness(r=−0.856,p<0.001)were noted on OCT with axial length and positive correlations with spherical equivalents and visual acuity. Conclusion:The lateral retinal stretching in myopia could possibly explain the correlation between retinal layer thickness, vascular density and visual acuity in these eyes.Further research is required to investigate this.Ramesh Venkatesh Shivani Sinha Deepika Gangadharaiah Santosh G.K.Gadde Ashwin Mohan Rohit Shetty Naresh Kumar Yadav 2019Eye and Vision2019,6,1:7
Discovery and preclinical development of ⅢM-160, a Bergenia ciliatabased anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic botanical drug candidate显示文摘Objective: Bergenia ciliata(Haw.) Sternb. is used in the Indian traditional system of medicine to treat various ailments including rheumatism and to heal wounds. The objective of the present study was to perform a preclinical characterization of the B. ciliata-based botanical extract IIIM-160.Methods: ⅢM-160 was chemically standardized and analyzed for heavy metal content, aflatoxins, pesticides and microbial load. The in vitro and in vivo efficacies were determined in suitable models of inflammation, arthritis and nociception. An acute oral toxicity study was performed in Swiss albino mice.A suitable oral formulation was developed and characterized. Results: Bergenin was found to be the major component(9.1% w/w) of ⅢM-160. The botanical lead displayed inhibition of lipopolysaccharide-induced production of proinflammatory cytokines in THP-1 cells, with selectivity toward interleukin-6(IL-6) and had an excellent safety-window. It showed anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and antinociceptive activity in animal models and was not toxic at oral doses up to 2 g/kg in Swiss-albino mice. The gastroretentive, sustained-release capsule formulation showed sustained-release of the bergenin over the period of 24 h, resulting in improved plasma-exposure of bergenin in Sprague–Dawley rats. Conclusion: The dual-activity of IL-6 inhibition and antinociception marks the suitability of ⅢM-160 for treating rheumatoid arthritis. This study will serve as the benchmark for further research on this botanical formulation.Sandip B.Bharate Vikas Kumar Sonali S.Bharate Bikarma Singh Gurdarshan Singh Amarinder Singh Mehak Gupta Deepika Singh Ajay Kumar Surjeet Singh Ram A.Vishwakarma 2019Journal of Integrative Medicine2019,17,3:3
CEACAM-1 Induced CSF3-receptor Downregulation in Bone Marrow Associated With Refractory Neutropenia in Advanced Cirrhosis显示文摘Background and Aims:Cirrhosis patients exhibit cyto-penia,and,at times refractory neutropenia to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF),which acts through the CSF3-receptor(CSF3R),and changes in CSF3R can affect the response. We conducted this study to assess the CSF3R status and its relevance in cirrhotic patients. Methods:Cirrhotic patients(n=127)and controls(n=26)with clini-cally indicated bone marrow(BM)examination were stud-ied.BM assessment was done by qRT-PCR and immunohis-tochemistry(IHC)for CSF3R.Circulating G-CSF,CSF3R,and carcinoembryonic antigen cell adhesion molecule-1(CEACAM1)were measured.BM hematopoietic precursor cells and their alterations were examined by flow cytom-etry.The findings were validated in liver cirrhosis patients who received G-CSF for severe neutropenia. Results:The mean age was 48.6±13.4 years, and 80.3%were men.Circulatory CSF3R reduction was noted with the advance-ment of cirrhosis, and confirmed by qRT-PCR and IHC in BM.CSF3R decline was related to decreased hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs)and downregulation of CSF3R in the re-maining HSCs.Cocultures confirmed that CEACAM1 led to CSF3R downregulation in BM cells by possible lysosomal degradation.Baseline low peripheral blood-(PB)-CSF3R also predisposed development of infections on follow-up.Decreased CSF3R was also associated with nonresponse to exogenous G-CSF treatment of neutropenia.Conclu-sions:Advanced liver cirrhosis was associated with low CSF3R and high CEACAM1 levels in the BM and circula-tion,making patients prone to infection and inadequate response to exogenous G-CSF.Chhagan Bihari Sukriti Baweja Seggere Murlaikrishna Shasthry Deepika Lal Preeti Negi Swati Thangariyal Dinesh Mani Tripathi Shiv Kumar Sarin 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1:2

Basin Geomorphology and Drainage Morphometry Parameters Used as Indicators for Groundwater Prospect: Insight from Geographical Information System(GIS) Technique显示文摘Influence of structural and lithological controls of various drainage patterns and their stream orientations(for 2nd, 3rd and 4th order steams) were identified to evaluate the direction and controlling factors of drainage network. To investigate the prospect of groundwater, hydrogeomorphological features of river basin viz. Mulki-Pavanje were identified and mapped. To evaluate the characteristics of the basin, different morphometric parameters(linear, areal and relief) were computed in sub-basin wise(SB-I to-VII). The linear parameters suggest drainage network is controlled by geomorphology. The form factor(Ff), elongation ratio(Re) and circularity ratio(Rc) suggest that the basin is in an elongated shape. The drainage density(Dd) indicates resistant/permeable strata under medium-dense vegetation with moderate relief. The areal parameters of the sub-basins(except SBI and Ⅲ) indicates moderate ground-slopes associated with moderately permeable rocks, which promote moderate run-off and infiltration. Drainage texture(T) of the whole basin indicates coarse texture while the SB-I, and Ⅲ showing an intermediate texture. The relief parameters namely ruggedness number(Rn) infers low basin relief and poor drainage density. To identify the most deficit/surplus zones of groundwater suitable weightages were assigned to the hydrogeomorphological units and morphometric parameters. The study reveal that the basin manifest that SB-Ⅲ shall be most deficit zone of groundwater, whereas SB-VII, VI and V are found to show increase in groundwater potentiality. Groundwater prospect area in this basin is estimated to be 7% area under poor, 44% area under moderate and 49% area under good to excellent. This paper demonstrated the potential application of geographical information system(GIS) techniques to evaluate the groundwater prospect in absence of traditional groundwater monitoring data.Kumar Avinash B Deepika K S Jayappa 2014Journal of Earth Science2014,25,6:1

Early SkinDiseaseIdentification Using Deep Neural Network显示文摘Skin lesions detection and classification is a prominent issue and difficult even for extremely skilled dermatologists and pathologists.Skin disease is the most common disorder triggered by fungus, viruses, bacteria, allergies, etc.Skin diseases are most dangerous and may be the cause of serious damage. Therefore,it requires to diagnose it at an earlier stage, but the diagnosis therapy itself is complex and needs advanced laser and photonic therapy. This advance therapy involvesfinancial burden and some other ill effects. Therefore,it must use artificial intelligence techniques to detect and diagnose it accurately at an earlier stage.Several techniques have been proposed to detect skin disease at an earlier stage but fail to get accuracy. Therefore, the primary goal of this paper is to classify, detect and provide accurate information about skin diseases. This paper deals with the same issue by proposing a high-performance Convolution neural network(CNN)to classify and detect skin disease at an earlier stage. The complete meth-odology is explained in different folds:firstly, the skin diseases images are pre-processed with processing techniques, and secondly, the important feature of the skin images are extracted.Thirdly, the pre-processed images are analyzed at different stages using a Deep Convolution Neural Network(DCNN).The approach proposed in this paper is simple, fast, and shows accurate results up to 98%and used to detect six different disease types.Vinay Gautam Naresh Kumar Trivedi Abhineet Anand Rajeev Tiwari Atef Zaguia Deepika Koundal Sachin Jain 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,44,3:1
Is nitric oxide level affected in postmenopausal women with hypothyroidism?显示文摘AIM To analyze serum levels of nitric oxide(NO), an indicator of cardiovascular health, in post-menopausal females with and without hypothyroidism.METHODS NO was analyzed colorimetrically in 30 newly diagnosed hypothyroid postmenopausal females and 30 postmenopausal females with normal thyroid profile. Results were compared and subjected to appropriate statisticalanalysis. RESULTS The levels of serum NO were found to be significantly decreased in postmenopausal females with hypothyroidism as compared to the levels in those with normal thyroid profile(P value < 0.05). A negative correlation of NO was observed with thyroid stimulating hormone whereas a positive correlation of NO was observed with free T3(FT3), free T4(FT4), T3 and T4 though it was statistically significant only for FT4 among postmenopausal females with hypothyroidism.CONCLUSION Postmenopausal hypothyroid females may be at a risk of compromised cardiovascular health as indicated by low NO levels. Regular monitoring and risk assessment is essential for timely intervention.Kiran Dahiya Deepika Dalal Vani Malhotra Sameer Aggarwal Ashish Kumar Malik Veena Singh Ghalaut Priya Dahiya 2017World Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology2017,6,3:1

Bacteriocins as antimicrobial and preservative agents in food:Biosynthesis, separation and application显示文摘Emerging evidence shows the trend of using safe and natural preservatives like bacteriocins in food processing. The increasing demand by the food industry to extend keeping quality and prevent spoilage of various food products has appealed for new preservatives and new methods of conservation.Further,to discover the novel spectrum of antimicrobial compounds that could effectively battle food-borne pathogens, bacteriocins have been intensively studied in the last few years.Recently, great attention has been paid to the application of lactic acid-bacterial bacteriocins targeting food spoilage-causing or pathogenic microorganisms with no significant side effects.Different mechanisms of action like pore-formation,retarding cell-wall/nucleic acid/protein synthesis have been proposed and described for diverse bacteriocins. Therefore, the syntheses, purification of bacteriocins in addition to their applications as antimicrobial and preservative agents in food processing are reviewed in detail. The review will also discuss the preservative effect of bacteriocins and their combinations having multiple modes of action(hurdle approach)to reduce the microbial load as well as antimicrobial resistance.Deepak Kumar Verma Mamta Thakur Smita Singh Soubhagya Tripathy Alok Kumar Gupta Deepika Baranwal Ami R.Patel Nihir Shah Gemilang Lara Utama Alaa Kareem Niamah M´onica L.Ch´avez-Gonz´alez Carolina Flores Gallegos Cristobal Noe Aguilar Prem Prakash Srivastav 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:1
Thermal history of a Late Mesoproterozoic paired metamorphic belt(?)during Rodinia assembly:New insight from medium-pressure granulites from the Aravalli-Delhi Mobile Belt, Northwestern India显示文摘In this study, we investigate the possible record of a Late Mesoproterozoic paired metamorphic belt in the Aravalli-Delhi Mobile Belt(ADMB), NW India using a suite of supracrustal and metaigneous granulites from the Pilwa-Chinwali granulite terrain at the north-western margin of the ADMB. Using metamorphic reaction textures, mineral chemistry, metamorphic reaction history, geothermobarometric computations and electron microprobe dating of monazite in 5 samples of pelitic granulite, leptynite gneiss, enderbite and charnockite, we have deduced a medium-pressure granulite facies metamorphism(P between 4.9 and 6.8 kbar, T> 760-815℃) along a heating-cooling, counterclockwise P-T path between 1.09 and 1.01 Ga. When collated with published metamorphic and chronological constraints and geological settings of the adjoining crustal domains of the ADMB, these findings provide new insights into the developments of two tectonic domains of contrasting thermal gradients at ca. 1.0 Ga, consistent with metamorphic transformations in tectonically thickened middle-lower crustal sections during continental collision to continental subduction and in the root zones of spatially adjacent island arc, as part of the Rodinia supercontinent assembly event.Santanu Kumar Bhowmik Somnath Dasgupta Sudipta Baruah Deepika Kalita 2018Geoscience Frontiers2018,9,2:0
Spatio-temporal variation of trace elements distributed over surface water of Upper Ganga River Basin in Western Himalayan Region显示文摘The rivers draining from the Himalayan range distribute enormous amount of fresh water to the people living in downstream regions.Trace metals flowed with river water can lead to serious impact on ecological system and human health.Nevertheless, the documentation on trace elements of Himalayan rivers is inadequately documented. The current study deals with the spatial and temporal variability of the major and trace elements of Ganga river water in epirhithron, metarhithron and hyporhithron zone belonging to Himalayan segment.Water samples from nineteen monitoring locations were collected in pre-monsoon(May-June),monsoon(AugustSeptember)and post-monsoon(December)seasons and subjected to be assessed for 20 elements(Ag,Al,Ba,Cd,Ca,Cr,Cu,Fe,Ga,K,Mn,Mg,Na,Ni,Pb,Sr,Th,U,Zn,and Zr)using ICP-OES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer).Different water pollution indexes such as HPI(Heavy Metal Pollution Index),MI(Metal Index)and PI(Pollution Index)were used to describe current water quality status at each monitoring station under particular classified ecological zone. The studied stations in hyporhithron zone had the value of Metal Index(MI>1),indicating threshold of warning.Further, the highest values of HPI in hyporhithron zone correspond to poor water quality status.Sites with poor water quality were also found to be contaminated as per the Pollution Index(PI),exhibiting high concentrations for element(Fe).However, the epirhithron and metarhithron zone in Himalayan segment showed excellent water quality mainly contributed from natural sources.Cluster Analysis(CA)and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)were applied to identify the main influential sources for Ganga river water pollution. The Kriging interpolation method was also applied to prepare spatial distribution map of computed indexes(HPI,MI,and PI).With the help of index of local Moran’s I(LMI),identified spatial clusters and spatial outliers revealed the elevated concentration of most elements in hyporhithron zone. The dataset presented in this study would be convenient for government officials in developing more effective management policies and necessary steps to check and monitor the Ganga river water quality. It was also suggested that further investigations in terms of trace elemental sources and their role in self-purification properties of Ganga water can be addressed in future.Deepika DIMRI Ambika KUMAR DeepakKumar MISHRA Archana SHARMA 2023Journal of Mountain Science2023,20,1:0
Benign lymph node microenvironment is associated with response to immunotherapy显示文摘Introduction:Benign lymph nodes have been considered the hubs of immune surveillance in cancer patients. The microenvironment of these lymphoid tissues can be immune suppressed, hence allowing for tumor progression.Understanding the spectrum of benign findings in bystander lymph nodes in immune checkpoint blockade therapy could prove to be key to understanding the mechanism and assessing treatment response. Methods:Benign lymph nodes and spleen were evaluated from patients treated with immunotherapy who subsequently received postmortem examination. We used quantitative immunofluorescence(QIF)to assess tumor infiltrating lymphocytes(TIL)and macrophage marker expression and characterized activation status using a novelmultiplexed QIF assay including CD3,GranzymeB,and Ki67.We performedimmunohistochemistry to correlate results of QIF.Results:Benign lymph nodes from non-responders to immunotherapy showed significantly higher expression of cytotoxic markers and proliferation index(Ki67)in T cells compared to responders.Higher expression of PD-L1 in macrophages was also observed. There was no significant difference in CD3+expression,but higher levels of CD8+T cells as well as CD20+B cells were seen in lymph nodes of non-responders.No significant differences were seen between responder and non-responder splenic tissue.Findings were supported by traditional immunostaining methods. Conclusions:While most studies in biomarkers for immunotherapy focus on tumor microenvironment,we show that benign lymph node microenvironment may predict response to immunotherapy. In responding patients, bystander lymph nodes appear to have been mobilized, resulting in reduced cytotoxic T cells.Conversely, patients whose disease progressed on immunotherapy demonstrate higher levels of macrophages that express increased PD-L1,and activated T cells not recruited to the tumor site.Maria I.Toki Deepika Kumar Fahad S.Ahmed David L.Rimm Mina L.Xu 2020Precision Clinical Medicine2020,3,1:0
Remote Sensing Image Retrieval Based on 3D-Local Ternary Pattern(LTP)Features and Non-subsampled Shearlet Transform(NSST)Domain Statistical Features显示文摘With the increasing popularity of high-resolution remote sensing images, the remote sensing image retrieval(RSIR)has always been a topic of major issue.A combined, global non-subsampled shearlet transform(NSST)-domain statistical features(NSSTds)and local three dimensional local ternary pattern(3D-LTP)features,is proposed for high-resolution remote sensing images. We model the NSST image coefficients of detail subbands using 2-state laplacian mixture(LM)distribution and its three parameters are estimated using Expectation-Maximization(EM)algorithm.We also calculate the statistical parameters such as subband kurtosis and skewness from detail subbands along with mean and standard deviation calculated from approximation subband, and concatenate all of them with the 2-state LM parameters to describe the global features of the image. The various properties of NSST such as multiscale, localization and flexible directional sensitivity make it a suitable choice to provide an effective approximation of an image. In order to extract the dense local features,a new 3D-LTP is proposed where dimension reduction is performed via selection of‘uniform’patterns. The 3D-LTP is calculated from spatial RGB planes of the input image. The proposed inter-channel 3D-LTP not only exploits the local texture information but the color information is captured too. Finally,a fused feature representation(NSSTds-3DLTP)is proposed using new global(NSSTds)and local(3D-LTP)features to enhance the discriminativeness of features. The retrieval performance of proposed NSSTds-3DLTP features are tested on three challenging remote sensing image datasets such as WHU-RS19,Aerial Image Dataset(AID)and PatternNet in terms of mean average precision(MAP),average normalized modified retrieval rank(ANMRR)and precision-recall(P-R)graph.The experimental results are encouraging and the NSSTds-3DLTP features leads to superior retrieval performance compared to many well known existing descriptors such as Gabor RGB,Granulometry, local binary pattern(LBP),Fisher vector(FV),vector of locally aggregated descriptors(VLAD)and median robust extended local binary pattern(MRELBP).For WHU-RS19 dataset,in terms of{MAP,ANMRR},the NSSTds-3DLTP improves upon Gabor RGB,Granulometry,LBP,FV,VLAD and MRELBP descriptors by{41.93%,20.87%},{92.30%,32.68%},{86.14%,31.97%},{18.18%,15.22%},{8.96%,19.60%}and{15.60%,13.26%},respectively.For AID,in terms of{MAP,ANMRR},the NSSTds-3DLTP improves upon Gabor RGB,Granulometry,LBP,FV,VLAD and MRELBP descriptors by{152.60%,22.06%},{226.65%,25.08%},{185.03%,23.33%},{80.06%,12.16%},{50.58%,10.49%}and{62.34%,3.24%},respectively.For PatternNet,the NSSTds-3DLTP respectively improves upon Gabor RGB,Granulometry,LBP,FV,VLAD and MRELBP descriptors by{32.79%,10.34%},{141.30%,24.72%},{17.47%,10.34%},{83.20%,19.07%},{21.56%,3.60%},and{19.30%,0.48%}in terms of{MAP,ANMRR}.The moderate dimensionality of simple NSSTds-3DLTP allows the system to run in real-time.Hilly Gohain Baruah Vijay Kumar Nath Deepika Hazarika 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,4:0
Phytochemistry and ethnomedicinal qualities of metabolites from Phyllanthus emblica L.:A review显示文摘Phyllanthus emblica or Indian gooseberry is an integrated part of Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicines. For several decades, the well-known ancient herb has been extensively utilized in traditional medicine to cure diseases like fever, diabetes, constipation, jaundice, ulcers, biliousness, anemia, anorexia, and dyspepsia. In the traditional system,Indian gooseberry has various ethnomedicinal applications. In the Ayurvedic system, different methods of administration(anupan)have shown different ethnomedicinal properties of Indian gooseberry.Seventy well-known chemical components in Indian gooseberry have been identified through phytochemical evaluation, among which the flavonoids and phenols are most prominent. From the toxicity perspective,it is considered a safe herb in India, and is taken as a food supplement in European countries. The wide-spectrum pharmacological activities of the crude extracts and isolates of Indian gooseberry are attributed to the predominance of phenols and flavonoids. Thus,it is important to study the exact mechanism of the activity of the phytochemicals in Indian gooseberry, especially in anti-cancer activities.Extract of Indian gooseberry enhances proliferation in several cancer cells in vitro, including stem cells like ovarian cancer(OC)cells, and also has been observed to possess anti-proliferative characteristics in vivo. This review intends to explore the therapeutic potential of Indian gooseberry based on scientific reports and attempts to find the gaps for future research.VIJAY KUMAR PRAVEEN C.RAMAMURTHY SIMRANJEET SINGH DALJEET SINGH DHANJAL PARUL PARIHAR DEEPIKA BHATIA RAM PRASAD JOGINDER SINGH 2023BIOCELL2023,47,5:0
Residual U-Network for Breast Tumor Segmentation from Magnetic Resonance Images显示文摘Breast cancer positions as the most well-known threat and the main source of malignant growth-related morbidity and mortality throughout the world. It is apical of all new cancer incidences analyzed among females. Two features substantially inuence the classication accuracy of malignancy and benignity in automated cancer diagnostics. These are the precision of tumor segmentation and appropriateness of extracted attributes required for the diagnosis. In this research, the authors have proposed a ResU-Net(Residual U-Network)model for breast tumor segmentation. The proposed methodology renders augmented, and precise identication of tumor regions and produces accurate breast tumor segmentation in contrast-enhanced MR images.Furthermore, the proposed framework also encompasses the residual network technique, which subsequently enhances the performance and displays the improved training process.Over and above, the performance of ResU-Net has experimentally been analyzed with conventional U-Net,FCN8,FCN32.Algorithm performance is evaluated in the form of dice coefcient and MIoU(Mean Intersection of Union),accuracy,loss,sensitivity,specicity,F1score.Experimental results show that ResU-Net achieved validation accuracy&dice coefcient value of 73.22%&85.32%respectively on the Rider Breast MRI dataset and outperformed as compared to the other algorithms used in experimentation.Ishu Anand Himani Negi Deepika Kumar Mamta Mittal Tai-hoon Kim Sudipta Roy 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,6:0
Defect induced room-temperature ferromagnetism and enhanced photocatalytic activity in Ni-doped ZnO synthesized by electrodeposition显示文摘Zn0.90Ni0.10O nanoparticles have been synthesized by single-bath two-electrode electrodeposition at constant voltage. X-ray diffraction, UV vis and photoluminescence studies reveal that a single-phase polycrystalline hcp wurtzite crystal structure of ZnO is evolved. The material consists of a large number of defects such as oxygen vacancy (Ov) and zinc interstitial (Zi). The magnetization study reveals that the sample exhibits room-temperature global ferromagnetism and the ferromagnetic ordering seems to be defect induced via bound magnetic polaron mechanism, and double exchange is also expected to have played role. Interesting optoelectronic properties have been found in the synthesized sample and the material seems to be a potential candidate to be used as a UV sensor. Such a transition metal doped ZnO based dilute magnetic semiconducting system exhibiting room-temperature ferromagnetism is likely to be first of its kind in the sense that such materials have not yet been reported to be synthesized by the simple method of electrodeposition to the best of our knowledge on the basis of ample literature review.Deepika Raju Kumar Ritesh Kumar Kamdeo Prasad Yadav Pratyush Vaibhav Seema Sharma Rakesh Kumar Singh Santosh Kumar 2020Chinese Physics B2020,29,10:0
