4Mortality rate of COVID-19 infection in end stage kidney disease patients on maintenance hemodialysis:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been the most talked-about disease of the past few years.Patients with significant comorbidities have been at particular risk of adverse outcomes.This study looked at the outcomes and risk factors for adverse outcomes among patients on chronic hemodialysis for end-stage renal disease,a group of patients known to be particularly susceptible to infectious complications.AIM To assess outcomes and risk factors for adverse outcomes of COVID-19 infection among patients on chronic hemodialysis.METHODS We searched PubMed/MEDLINE,EMBASE,Reference Citation Analysis(http://gffzzb1f9d057b5954674sbv6kw6bvpbqv6p95.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/)and Web of Science databases for relevant terms and imported the results into the Covidence platform.From there,studies were assessed in two stages for relevance and quality,and data from studies that satisfied all the requirements were extracted into a spreadsheet.The data was then analyzed descriptively and statistically.RESULTS Of the 920 studies identified through the initial database search,only 17 were included in the final analysis.The studies included in the analysis were mostly carried out during the first wave.We found that COVID-19 incidence among patients on hemodialysis was significant,over 10%in some studies.Those who developed COVID-19 infection were most likely going to be hospitalized,and over 1 in 5 died from the infection.Intensive care unit admission rate was lower than the infection lethality rate.Biochemical abnormalities and dyspnea were generally reported to be associated with adverse outcomes.CONCLUSION This systematic review confirms that patients on chronic hemodialysis are very high-risk individuals for COVID-19 infections,and a significant proportion was infected during the first wave.Their prognosis is overall much worse than in the general population,and every effort needs to be made to decrease their exposure.Ivan Cancarevic Mahmoud Nassar Ahmed Daoud Hatem Ali Nso Nso Angelica Sanchez Avish Parikh Asma Ul Hosna Bhavana Devanabanda Nazakat Ahmed Karim M Soliman 2022World Journal of Virology2022,11,5:1

6A Solvation Model for Performance Enhancement of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells显示文摘A solubility model for Merocyanine-540 dye together with the interface’s electron transfer kinetics of MC-540/TiO2 has been investigated(Merocyanine 540-based dye has been used effectively in dye-sensitized solar cells).The highest absorption peaks were recorded at 489 nm and 493 nm in Water and Ethanol solvent,vs.the vacuum phase which yielded 495 nm(associated with a modest electron injection-free energy value(Ginj)of−2.34 eV for both Water and Ethanol solvents).The time-dependent density functional theory(TD-DFT)method approach has been applied in this simulation.Additionally,the electronic structure and simulated UV-Vis spectra of the dye in different solvents have been determined,and the alignment with the solar spectrum has been discussed to a certain extent.The energy level diagrams and electron density of the primary molecular orbitals are shown,and the major issues that have an impact on our new interface’s performance are examined.It is concluded that the proposed Solvation Model(SM)can improve the performance of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells.Adel Daoud Ali Cheknane Jean Michel Nunzi Afak Meftah 2022Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,6:0
7Detection of oxidative stress and DNA damage in freshwater snail Lymnea leuteola exposed to profenofos显示文摘Extensive production and use of organophosphate pesticide in agriculture,has risen concerned about its ecotoxicity and risk assessment of insecticides,which are more important.Therefore,the present investigation was aimed to study the induction of oxidative stress and DNA damage by organophosphate insecticide profenofos(PFF)in freshwater snail Lymnea luteola(L.luteola).The median lethal value(96 h LC50)of PFF was estimated as 1.26 mg/L for L.luteola in a semi-static system and on the basis of LC50 value three concentrations viz.,0.126(1/10 of LC50,Sublethal I),0.63(1/2 of LC50,Sublethal II)and 0.84 mg/L(2/3 of LC50,Sublethal III)were determined.Snails were exposed to above-mentioned concentrations of PFF along with solvent control(acetone)and negative control for 96 h.The haemolymph was collected at 24 and 96 h of after treatment.In heamolymph of PFF exposed snail,lipid peroxide,glutathione reduced glutathione S transferase and superoxide dismutase activities at the tested concentrations significantly differ from those in the control.The genotoxicity induced in hemocytes of treated snails was measured by alkaline single cell gel electrophoresis assay.The data of this experiment demonstrated significantly enhancement of oxidative stress and DNA damage in the treated snails as compared to controls.Also,we observed statistically significant correlations of ROS with DNA damage(%tail DNA)(R^(2)=0.9708)for 24 h and DNA damage(R^(2)=0.9665)for 96 h.Results of the current experiment can be useful in risk evaluation of PFF among aquatic organisms.The study confirmed the use of comet assay for in vivo laboratory experiments using freshwater snail for selecting the toxic potential of industrial chemicals and environmental contaminants.Daoud Ali Huma Ali Saud Alifiri Saad Alkahtani Abdullah A Alkahtane Shaik Althaf Huasain 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:0
