| 2 | Machine learning helps improve diagnostic ability of subclinical keratoconus using Scheimpflug and OCT imaging modalities显示文摘Purpose:To develop an automated classification system using a machine learning classifier to distinguish clinically unaffected eyes in patients with keratoconus from a normal control population based on a combination of Scheimpflug camera images and ultra-high-resolution optical coherence tomography(UHR-OCT)imaging data.Methods:A total of 121 eyes from 121 participants were classified by 2 cornea experts into 3 groups:normal(50 eyes),with keratoconus(38 eyes)or with subclinical keratoconus(33 eyes).All eyes were imaged with a Scheimpflug camera and UHR-OCT.Corneal morphological features were extracted from the imaging data.A neural network was used to train a model based on these features to distinguish the eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.Fisher’s score was used to rank the differentiable power of each feature.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were calculated to obtain the area under the ROC curves(AUCs).Results:The developed classification model used to combine all features from the Scheimpflug camera and UHR-OCT dramatically improved the differentiable power to discriminate between normal eyes and eyes with subclinical keratoconus(AUC=0.93).The variation in the thickness profile within each individual in the corneal epithelium extracted from UHR-OCT imaging ranked the highest in differentiating eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.Conclusion:The automated classification system using machine learning based on the combination of Scheimpflug camera data and UHR-OCT imaging data showed excellent performance in discriminating eyes with subclinical keratoconus from normal eyes.The epithelial features extracted from the OCT images were the most valuable in the discrimination process.This classification system has the potential to improve the differentiable power of subclinical keratoconus and the efficiency of keratoconus screening. | Ce Shi Mengyi Wang Tiantian Zhu Ying Zhang Yufeng Ye Jun Jiang Sisi Chen Fan Lu Meixiao Shen | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 3 |
| 3 | Redefinition and Formation Age of the Tanjianshan Group in Xitieshan Region, Qinghai显示文摘The Tanjianshan Group, which was previously divided into a, b, c and d formations, has been controversial for a long time. It mainly distributes in the northern margin of Qaidam Basin and is an important early Paleozoic greenschist facies metamorphic volcanic sedimentary rock formation. Detailed field investigation and zircon LA-ICPMS U-Pb dating of the key strata suggest that the original lower part of a Formation(a-1) versus the original middle upper of d Formation(d-3 and d-4), the original upper part of a Formation(a-2) and b Formation versus the original lower part of d Formation(d-1 and d-2) of Tanjianshan Group are contemporaneous heterotopic facies volcanicclasolite deposit, respectively. The former formations formed during the middle-late Ordovician(463–458 Ma), while the latter ones formed in the late Ordovician(about 445 Ma). The original c formation of Tanjianshan Group, which formed after 430 Ma, is similar to the Maoniushan Formation of Kunlun Mountains and north Qaidam Basin. According to the rules of stratigraphic division and naming, new stratum formations of Tanjianshan Group are re-built and divided into Duancenggou(O1-2td), Zhongjiangou(O2-3tz) and Xitieshan(O3tx) formations. The original c Formation is separated from Tanjianshan Group and is renamed as the Wuminggou Formation(S3-D1w), which shows a discordant contact with underlying Tanjianshan Group and overlying Amunike Formation(D3a). | 7 | Polyaniline-based electrocatalysts through emulsion polymerization:Electrochemical and electrocatalytic performances显示文摘One of the major challenges associated with fuel cells is the design of highly efficient electrocatalysts to reduce the high overpotential of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). Here we report Polyaniline(PANI)based micro/nanomaterials with or without transition metals, prepared by the emulsion polymerization and subsequent heat treatment. PANI microspheres with the diameter of about 0.7 μm have been prepared in basic(NH3solution) condition, using two different types of surfactant(CTAB, SDS) as the stabilizer, ammonium persulphate(APS) as oxidant with aniline/surfactants molar ratio at 1/1 under the hydrothermal treatment. PANI nanorods, Fe–PANI, and Fe–Co–PANI have been synthesized in acidic(HCl)medium with aniline/surfactants molar ratio at 1/2 and polymerization carried out without stirring for24 h. Products mainly Fe–Co–PANI have shown high current density with increasing sweep rate and excellent specific capacitance 1753 F/g at the scan rate of 1 m V/s. Additionally, it has shown high thermal stability by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). Fe–PANI has been investigated for excellent performance toward ORR with four electron selectivity in the basic electrolyte. | 10 | Correlation between white matter damage and gray matter lesions in multiple sclerosis patients显示文摘We observed the characteristics of white matter fibers and gray matter in multiple sclerosis patients, to identify changes in diffusion tensor imaging fractional anisotropy values following white matter fiber injury. We analyzed the correlation between fractional anisotropy values and changes in whole-brain gray matter volume. The participants included 20 patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and 20 healthy volunteers as controls. All subjects underwent head magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging. Our results revealed that fractional anisotropy values decreased and gray matter volumes were reduced in the genu and splenium of corpus callosum, left anterior thalamic radiation, hippocampus, uncinate fasciculus, right corticospinal tract, bilateral cingulate gyri, and inferior longitudinal fasciculus in multiple sclerosis patients. Gray matter volumes were significantly different between the two groups in the right frontal lobe(superior frontal, middle frontal, precentral, and orbital gyri), right parietal lobe(postcentral and inferior parietal gyri), right temporal lobe(caudate nucleus), right occipital lobe(middle occipital gyrus), right insula, right parahippocampal gyrus, and left cingulate gyrus. The voxel sizes of atrophic gray matter positively correlated with fractional anisotropy values in white matter association fibers in the patient group. These findings suggest that white matter fiber bundles are extensively injured in multiple sclerosis patients. The main areas of gray matter atrophy in multiple sclerosis are the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, caudate nucleus, parahippocampal gyrus, and cingulate gyrus. | 13 | Alterations in gut microbiota are related to metabolite profiles in spinal cord injury显示文摘Studies have shown that gut microbiota metabolites can enter the central nervous system via the blood-spinal cord barrier and cause neuroinflammation, thus constituting secondary injury after spinal cord injury. To investigate the correlation between gut microbiota and metabolites and the possible mechanism underlying the effects of gut microbiota on secondary injury after spinal cord injury, in this study, we established mouse models of T8–T10 traumatic spinal cord injury. We used 16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and metabolomics to reveal the changes in gut microbiota and metabolites in fecal samples from the mouse model. Results showed a severe gut microbiota disturbance after spinal cord injury, which included marked increases in pro-inflammatory bacteria, such as Shigella, Bacteroides, Rikenella, Staphylococcus, and Mucispirillum and decreases in anti-inflammatory bacteria, such as Lactobacillus, Allobaculum, and Sutterella. Meanwhile, we identified 27 metabolites that decreased and 320 metabolites that increased in the injured spinal cord. Combined with pathway enrichment analysis, five markedly differential amino acids(L-leucine, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, L-isoleucine and L-valine) were screened out, which play a pivotal role in activating oxidative stress and inflammatory responses following spinal cord injury. Integrated correlation analysis indicated that the alteration of gut microbiota was related to the differences in amino acids, which suggests that disturbances in gut microbiota might participate in the secondary injury through the accumulation of partial metabolites that activate oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. | 15 | Long-term monitoring of the individual self-feeding behavior of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss显示文摘Self-feeding device is extensively used in aquaculture farms, but for salmonids the individual feeding behavior has seldom been continuously observed. In this article, the individual self-feeding behavior of 10 rainbow trout was continuously monitored with a PIT tag record for 50 days with three replicates. The?sh fell into three categories according to their feeding behavior, i.e. high triggering ?sh(trigger behavior more than 25% of the group, HT), low triggering ?sh(1%–25%, LT) and zero triggering ?sh(less than1%). The results showed that in a group of 10 individual 1–2 HT ?sh accounted for most of the self-feeding behavior(78.19%–89.14%), which was far more than they could consume. The trigger frequency of the?sh was signi?cantly correlated with the initial body weight( P <0.01), however, no signi?cant dif ference in growth rate among the HT, LT, and ZT ?sh was observed( P >0.05). Cosinor analysis showed that the two HT ?sh in the same group had similar acrophase. Though some of the HT ?sh could be active for 50 d, there were also HT ?sh decreased triggering behavior around 40 d and the high trigger status was then replaced by other ?sh, which was ?rst discovered in salimonds. Interestingly, the growth of the group was not af fected by the alternation triggering ?sh. These results provide evidence that in the self-feeding system the HT ?sh didn't gain much advantage by their frequent self-feeding behavior, and high trigger status of the HT ?sh is not only an individual character but also driven by the demand of the group. | 17 | Degradation of Rhodamine B by MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system: performance, mechanism and ecotoxicity studies显示文摘This study developed a novel MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system to degrade the organic dye RhB, which was used to address the drawbacks of persulfate oxidation and ozonation techniques. The structure, ionic and elemental composition, specific surface area, and magnetic properties of the LDHs were investigated using a variety of physicochemical characterization tools. The results showed that MnFe-LDH had a large specific surface area, a rich crystalline phase composition, and a functional group structure. The RhB degradation rate of MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 was 0.34 min−1, which was much higher than that of other comparative systems. RhB could be completely degraded in 10 min after optimization and had a significant effect on TOC removal. The system was found to be effective over a wide pH range. Common anions were largely unaffected and humic acid acted as an inhibitor. At the same time, the system had generally effective degradation performance for different dyes. Combined with quenching experiments and EPR, it was found that SO4•−, •OH, O_(2)•−, and 1O_(2) all participated in the reaction, and •OH contributed more. The degradation pathway of RhB was derived by LC-MS, and the T.E.S.T. evaluation found that the toxicity of the intermediate product was significantly reduced. Finally, the stability and availability of LDHs were verified using cycling experiments and metal ion leaching. | 19 | Long-term outcome of percutaneous or surgical revascularization with and without prior stroke in patients with threevessel disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE To determine whether high-risk patients with three-vessel disease(TVD)with and without prior stroke preferen-tially benefit from three strategies[percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI),coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG)and medical therapy(MT)].METHODS A total of 8943 patients with TVD were included in the study.Patients enrolled were stratified into two categories according to the presence or absence of prior stroke history.The primary endpoint was all-cause death.Secondary endpoints in-cluded stroke and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular event(MACCE),a composite of death,myocardial infarction(MI),unplanned revascularization and stroke.RESULTS Prior stroke was present in 888 patients(9.9%).These patients were older and had higher rates of comorbidities.Du-ring a median follow-up of 7.5 years,patients with prior stroke were strongly associated with increased risks of all-cause death,cardiac death,stroke and MACCE,even after adjusting for confounding variables and results been consistent across either treat-ment subgroup(PCI,CABG and MT)(all adjusted P<0.01).Notably,there was a significant interaction between prior stroke his-tory and treatment strategies.Revascularization strategy(PCI or CABG)was associated with a lower incidence of all-cause death and MACCE compared with MT alone,and favorable rates of MACCE,MI and unplanned revascularization in the CABG group compared with the PCI group,but with similar rate of all-cause death regardless of prior stroke history.The prevalence of stroke was significantly higher after CABG when compared with PCI or MT in no prior stroke patients[hazard ratio(HR)=1.429,95%CI:1.132-1.805 for CABG vs.MT;HR=1.703,95%CI:1.371-2.116 for CABG vs.PCI].CONCLUSIONS Patients with TVD and prior stroke have poor clinical outcomes.It is essential to balance benefit and risk when determining the optimal treatment strategy for TVD with and without prior stroke. | Na XU Ce ZHANG Lin JIANG Jing-Jing XU Ru LIU Ying SONG Xue-Yan ZHAO Lian-Jun XU Run-Lin GAO Bo XU Jin-Qing YUAN Lei SONG | 2022 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,8: | 0 |
