| 1 | The ion chemistry of surface and ground waters in the Taklimakan Desert of Tarim Basin,western China显示文摘The physio-chemical and chemical features of water in natural conditions are controlled by the weath-ering of bedrocks,local climate,landforms and other geo-environmental parameters. In order to un-derstand the characteristics of water and the origins of the dissolved loads in the rivers and in the ground waters of the Taklimakan Desert,western China,we studied the ions in the water samples col-lected from rivers and wells. We collected water samples from four rivers (Keriya River,Cele River,Tumiya River and Yulongkashi River) in the southern desert and ground water samples from many parts of the desert. Major cations and anions were measured using ion-chromatograph and titration with HCl. The total dissolved solids (TDS),pH and conductivity were examined on site by a portable multi-parameter analyzer. The data show that the water in the rivers of southern Taklimakan is still of fresh water quality and slight alkalinity,although the TDS is comparatively higher than that of many other rivers of the world. The ground water is fresh to slightly saline,with TDS a little higher than that of river water in the study area. The concentration of ions is slightly different between the four rivers in the southern Taklimakan. However,the chemistries of ground water in all samples are to a large degree controlled by sodium and chloride. The ions in the ground water are concluded to be mainly from dissolving of evaporites,consistent with the dry climate in the region,whereas the ions in the rivers are mainly from rock weathering. | 3 | On the Radiative Properties of Ice Clouds:Light Scattering, Remote Sensing,and Radiation Parameterization显示文摘Presented is a review of the radiative properties of ice clouds from three perspectives: light scattering simulations, remote sensing applications, and broadband radiation parameterizations appropriate for numerical models. On the subject of light scattering simulations, several classical computational approaches are reviewed, including the conventional geometric-optics method and its improved forms, the finite-difference time domain technique, the pseudo-spectral time domain technique, the discrete dipole approximation method, and the T-matrix method, with specific applications to the computation of the singlescattering properties of individual ice crystals. The strengths and weaknesses associated with each approach are discussed.With reference to remote sensing, operational retrieval algorithms are reviewed for retrieving cloud optical depth and effective particle size based on solar or thermal infrared(IR) bands. To illustrate the performance of the current solar- and IR-based retrievals, two case studies are presented based on spaceborne observations. The need for a more realistic ice cloud optical model to obtain spectrally consistent retrievals is demonstrated. Furthermore, to complement ice cloud property studies based on passive radiometric measurements, the advantage of incorporating lidar and/or polarimetric measurements is discussed.The performance of ice cloud models based on the use of different ice habits to represent ice particles is illustrated by comparing model results with satellite observations. A summary is provided of a number of parameterization schemes for ice cloud radiative properties that were developed for application to broadband radiative transfer submodels within general circulation models(GCMs). The availability of the single-scattering properties of complex ice habits has led to more accurate radiation parameterizations. | 4 | Image detection and verification of visual navigation route during cotton field management period显示文摘In order to meet the actual operation demand of visual navigation during cotton field management period,image detection algorithm of visual navigation route during this period was investigated in this research.Firstly,for the operation images under natural environment,the approach of color component difference,which is applicable for cotton field management,was adopted to extract the target characteristics of different regions inside and outside cotton field.Secondly,the median filtering method was employed to eliminate noise in the images and realize smoothing process of the images.Then,according to the regional vertical cumulative distribution graph of the images,the boundary characteristic of the cotton seedling region was obtained and the central position of the cotton seedling row was determined.Finally,the detection of the candidate points cluster was realized,and the navigation route was extracted by Hough transformation passing the known point.The testing results showed that the algorithms could rapidly and accurately detect the navigation route during cotton field management period.And the average processing time periods for each frame image at the emergence,strong seedling,budding and blooming stages were 41.43 ms,67.83 ms,68.80 ms and 74.05 ms,respectively.The detection has the advantage of high accuracy,strong robustness and fast speed,and is simultaneously less vulnerable to interference from external environment,which satisfies the practical operation requirements of cotton field management machinery. | Jingbin Li Rongguang Zhu Bingqi Chen | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 4 |
| 5 | A method characterizing urban expansion based on land cover map at 30 m resolution显示文摘Based on the global land cover data at 30 m resolution(Globe Land30) in the year 2000 and 2010, the urban expansion process of 320 cities in China was analyzed using lognormal regression, and the expansion model were established. Three metrics were presented for the models, including the peak position, the full width at half maximum, and the skewness. It was found that the three metrics could reveal different patterns of the urban expansion process of cities with different sizes. Specifically, cities with larger size tend to expand outward strongly, and their expansion intensity and influence are likely to be higher. Moreover, most cities' expansion occurs around the urban core with spatially limited influence. In addition, it was also found that the city's expansion intensity is related to the city size. | 8 | Effects of reductive inorganics and NOM on the formation of chlorite in the chlorine dioxide disinfection of drinking water显示文摘Chlorine dioxide(ClO_(2))disinfection usually does not produce halogenated disinfection byproducts,but the formation of the inorganic by-product chlorite(ClO^(–)_(2))is a serious consideration.In this study,the ClO^(–)_(2)formation rule in the ClO_(2)disinfection of drinking water was investigated in the presence of three representative reductive inorganics and four natural organic matters(NOMs),respectively.Fe^(2+)and S^(2–)mainly reduced ClO_(2)to ClO^(–)_(2)at low concentrations.When ClO_(2)was consumed,the ClO^(–)_(2)would be further reduced by Fe^(2+)and S^(2–),leading to the decrease of ClO^(–)_(2).The reaction efficiency of Mn^(2+)with ClO_(2)was lower than that of Fe^(2+)and S^(2–).It might be the case that Mn O 2 generated by the reaction between Mn^(2+)and ClO_(2)had adsorption and catalytic oxidation on Mn^(2+).However,Mn^(2+)would not reduce ClO^(–)_(2).Among the four NOMs,humic acid and fulvic acid reacted with ClO_(2)actively,followed by bovine serum albumin,while sodium alginate had almost no reaction with ClO_(2).The maximum ClO^(–)_(2)yields of reductive inorganics(70%)was higher than that of NOM(around 60%).The lower the concentration of reductive substances,the more ClO^(–)_(2)could be produced by per unit concentration of reductive substances.The results of the actual water samples showed that both reductive inorganics and NOM played an important role in the formation of ClO^(–)_(2)in disinfection. | Biao Yang Hua Fang Bingqi Chen Shun Yang Zhichao Ye Jianghua Yu | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,6: | 2 |
| 9 | 双重卡口机构对波浪能转换器性能的影响评估显示文摘Lower efficiencies induce higher energy costs and pose a barrier to wave energy devices'commercial applications.Therefore,the efficiency enhancement of wave energy converters has received much attention in recent decades.The reported research presents the double snap-through mechanism applied to a hemispheric point absorber type wave energy converter(WEC)to improve the energy absorption perfomance.The double snap-through mechanism comprises four oblique springs mounted in an X-configuration.This provides the WEC with different dynamic stability behaviors depending on the particular geometric and physical parameters employed.The efficiency of these different WEC behaviors(linear,bistable,and tristable)was initially evaluated under the action of regular waves.The results for bistable or tristable responses indicated significant improvements in the WEC's energy capture efficiency.Furthermore,the WEC frequency bandwidth was shown to be significantly enlarged when the tristable mode was in operation.However,the corresponding tristable trajectory showed intra-well behavior in the middle potential well,which induced a more severe low-energy absorption when a small wave amplitude acted on the WEC compared to when the bistable WEC was employed.Nevertheless,positive effects were observed when appropriate initial conditions were imposed.The results also showed that for bistable or tristable responses,a suitable spring stiffness may cause the buoy to oscillate in high energy modes. | Bingqi Liu Carlos Levi Segen F.Estefen Zhijia Wu Menglan Duan | 2021 | Journal of Marine Science and Application2021,20,2: | 2 |
| 10 | A Low-Cost and Easily Prepared Manganese Carbonate as an Effi cient Catalyst for Aerobic Oxidation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-Diformylfuran显示文摘A low-cost and easily prepared manganese carbonate(Mn CO_3) has been synthesized for catalytic conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(5-HMF) to 2,5-diformylfuran(DFF). The properties and morphology of the manganese carbonate were measured by SEM,XRD,TGA,BET and XPS. In this method,no harsh reaction conditions were required,and it was a simple and green process for the oxidation of 5-HMF into DFF. To achieve an optimum DFF yield,different reaction conditions,including reaction temperature,reaction time,catalyst amount,and solvents were investigated. Results from the experiments indicated that the highest DFF yield of 86.9% was obtained at 120 °C under atmospheric oxygen pressure after 6h.
